I'm hoping someone can help me out here, but I sent a lot of text messages trying to win tickets to a concert. I've since delted all the text messages, but it still shows there's one in the inbox. I cleared out all the text messages and email. I reset the phone three times now and even took the battery out, but it still says there's one message in there. It's not a big deal, but i'd hate to have hard reset the phone just to get that off there. Any suggestions or comments are welcomed
Same problem for me since 2 weeks !!! didn't figure out how to fix it !!!! except a hard reset.. which is something i don't want to do..
if someone has an answer... welcome !!!
Ive found the answer!!!
Ive found a fix if you guys haven't already and it doesn't involve a hard reset.
I'm having this same problem, could you please post the fix?
This is just an FYI to anyone else having this problem. I tried quite a few different things and none of them worked. I got the FixUnreadCount.exe from Raven, and that didn't solve the problem. I went into the registry and tried a few different things, including the changing the SMS and MMS counts to 0. That would work for a little while, but as soon as I would get another text message, the count would go back up for two messages that I couldn't see. I even completely cleared my inbox, but the count still showed two unread messages.
What I ended up having to do was disable threaded messaging (see the FAQs for how to do this) in order to see the two messages that were there. They didn't show up in threaded messaging, but when I went back to a regular inbox with all of my messages pooled together, I was able to see two text messages with no sender (not sure how that happens). I deleted them from there, cleared them from the "Deleted" folder, and then re-enabled threaded messaging. At that point, the count was back to normal.
thanks a lot!
it works...!
Hi,
after searching for weeks around ways to make the ring tone for text messages work, I found that even though there exist several proposals to solve the problem, many htc diamond users still apparently don't succeed in getting it done, myself included.
The problem is that if a message arrives, the phone returns to normal mode if on standby, the lights flash, but NO TONE is played. No matter if in standby mode or not.
So far I tried the following which at least made the phone wake up and the light flashes. However, no sound is played and moreover the message is not displayed. (I am not using Manila but SPB Mobile Shell (tried 2.15 and 3.0 and without, but does not change).
things tried:
1) I did several Hard Resets including using a totalling of five different ROMs (including one with 6.5)
2) Trying all possible settings in the alerts and Notifications menus, Vibrate, Program Sounds, built-in sounds,...
3) edit the registry to make the phone wake up on Message
4) Install the HTC Hotfix for the greyed out REPEAT option
The strange thing is, once I flash the phone new, it works for about one day, but then stops (however, I used to install some programs during that period, so far could not 8for the lack of time) find out what was the particular reason.
but after about 10 complete new Flashs I am really desperate that one of the most simple features of cellphones, an text message beep, seems not possible with the HTC Touch Diamond.
In any case, I know there are a lot of discussions around this issues but I tried all of them and it seems that they don't work for many others as well, while it does for some.
It would be great to have a final thread getting this issue fixed ultimately!
Thanks for your experiences / ideas !
cheers,

Solved
So after long trials and errors, I found one more reason why one cannot hear text message sounds:
I had deleted the Activesync Registry Key in order to get rid ot the Outlook Email Account as suggested in several threads. Apparently this made the sms sound not work anymore, for whatever reason.
Just restored the backup of the Active Sync key to HKLM Software Microsoft Inbox Svc and voilá!
well i think this is one of the most crucial and important problem with HTC phones...i had the same problem with my HTC Touch before...hopefully this should not start with my new diamond.
solution of that i found was something similar what u stated. i tried deleting my smses..i had more than 3000 sms in inbox and in outbox around 2500...so i deleted say around 1000 sms ..which might played some trick and then sms sound started...unfortunately my htc touch then got stolen ...i wish i would have not fixed that problem for thief to go with same misery of not getting incoming sms sound
it didn't work for me....grrrr
any new solutions?

Same problem here.
I was hearing sounds in incoming emails a few days ago but suddenly no sound is played when i receive an email.
I didn´t delete any registry value, so i don´t know if your solution can help me, but... do you remember the registry key to review, please?
Thanks!
Still looking for a solution anyway
EDIT: I have found a pseudo-solution: if i check the box "Display message on screen" (Sounds & Notifications), new email notifications sounds normally.
I don´t like seeying WM notifications pop´ups, but... it´s the only way new email are notified with sound.
Hi all,
I have Tilt and I am very fond of messaging.
I was having a conversation through SMS with a frnd and when i was replying to one of his SMSs, all of a sudden hung a lil bit and all the SMS of his has gone.
Then later i checked, some people and sites who are regular with their SMS (3-5 SMS in day), those SMS are also gone but not the complete thread is being deleted.
I am not able to understand the pattern.
Is it like that each thread can contain only a specific number of SMSs.
And earlier i thought this might be a problem with my handset or s/w, but today one of my frnd who uses HTC 3400, had the same prob.
Kindly help. I had more than 1000 SMS in it.
Softwares installed:
SPB Pocket mobile shell 3
kaiser tweak
google maps
web cam plus

Abhishek
while you are looking for a solution, i suggest you backup all your text messages using "pim backup"...search for it on xda
this way, you will have a backup that you can restore in case the situation gets worse and your device starts "forgetting" even more text messages
Yes, i am encounter the same problem too, where my sms been deleted automatically after soft reset my phone. Why it can be happen? any way to solve this?

thanx buddy for the suggestion, but i believe ,anyones fate would not have fallen pathetically sick as mine. I had all the backups, but my hard disk also crashed.
anyways ..... still looking for a solution ... i believe theres a hidden bug in WM6.0 n 6.1
But it is hard to believe that no one till date has not escalated this issue.
Hope to find a resolution for it.
Cheers !!! (Hope if WM allowed us to)
Well lets just get to the meat and potatoes.
I just upgraded my phone from a Tilt(Kaiser) to a Fuze(Raphael). As we all know the Fuze comes stock with TF3D, well I always enjoy SPB Mobile 3 so I found a step by step guide to run both applications.
Now I seem to be having text message issues. If I try to read my new text under SPB mobile the new text messages wont be in my inbox, yet under TF3D it shows all my messages.
Another issue is no matter if im under SPB or TF3, my text dont alert. Meaning my text messages come in w/o notifying me, I have to constantly check my inbox to make sure I didnt miss a new text and its annoying.
I tryed searching to see if there is a fix or if this is a common bug but searching using keys words like text message or SMS is useless with so many threads open that have those words.
PS: Even before I installed SPB i having text issues. I even contacted AT&T about it and they ran a test and said everything was fine. They even sent me a text and I received it just fine. So im guessing it might be something in the software.
Thanks in advance to anyone who can help me.
you wont like the soultion ATT gave me but it workd, a hard reset. It was fine for me because i just upgraded to the new rom when i had the problem. Now everything is fine, I couldn't even send any before i did the reset but it worked.
Hi, is there any latest ROM that doesn't mess up SMS threads?
Dutty's R7 with HTC messaging - u can't see the whole message if it's longer than 200 chars, same with Miri V12. Also tried Miri's V30 based on Manila 2.1 - and the problem there is even more ridiculous - in a thread messages are in wrong order, first goes all my replies and then the other persons txts.
I am using Jeyo Mobile Companion and PIM to restore messages and get the same results. Any proper ROM?
i think the problem lies in the backup program, they somehow restore them in the wrong way. I think it works via myphone (at least that what i heard).
The best solution is to not sync your messages, which i do .
I don't really understand why people have to put hundreds of old text messages back on their phone, they have read them right?
Anyhow, it is related to the backupprogram and manila not working correctly. Try using topix, in that rom there are no bugs at all (but it's a wm 6.1 rom)
Not really sure that this is the problem of the restoring programs as I tried different options. Tried also Laurentius V3 - again problem with messages that don't show in full and that lay over each other.
Anyone else having same problem? Or any advices on program that actually works?
I have the same issue with text messages being out of order on NRGZs Energy Photon ROM, the new 23081 build.
The issue is down to the date/time stamp on the messages. I had my messages going out having the same time but yesterday's date on them, hence the order being all wrong. I checked through all the regional settings etc to see whether all that was ok, but nothing was wrong.
It appears not to be doing it now, but I have cleared all my messages out and soft reset a few times since, so I cannot say what was causing the issue.
if you run manila2.1, whatever rom has this cab is ok
no, that doesn't work either...The usual problem: all my messages in the beginning, if I scroll up I find other persons messages and at the very top txts for today for both of us
other ideas? I don't get it really: what's the point in all the new cabs and functions if one of the two main functions - texting and calling - doesn't work properly?
sorry fr bumping such an old thread... but have been facing this issue with all the ROMs i've tried...it's highly irritating. i some times miss imp. smses
I'll test the fix cab and report soon...
In case someone has already found a working solution. please post it here.
B.U.M.P. guys.. anybody has a solution for this?? kindly help ..
topix for sure has no messed up sms's. dunno i tried lots of m2.1 roms and if sms were messed up i installed the attached cab and they worked
If you're using a backup/restore SMS program, you should disable Threaded messaging before backuping and before restoring.
I've noticed that backup/restore SMS programs have some problems with threaded messaging, but I have never encountered the messing issue since I disable Threaded messaging before both backuping and restoring.
