I have an xda II running WM6 all brill
I'm thinking of buying and xdaIIi but is it a andes or an alpine?
I want it to run WM6 and i don't think alpine can run WM6
am i wrong, should i just get another sd wifi card n stick with the xda II
i had an xdall but upgraded to a xda2i purely for the fact it has built in wifi which gave me the advatage of using my sd card.UPGRADE[cheap enough now]IN MY OPINION
xda
yep same for me, but i need WM6 are you running WM6 on your XDA IIi
wm6 on xda IIi (HTC Alpine/Qtek 2020i/SPV M1500)
Please, is it somebody can say to me if it is possible to put wm5 (or better than that: wm6) on my XDA IIi (Alpine / Qtek HTC 2020i / SPV M1500).
I downloaded that: randomize_wm6_1_storm_v2_10_rom_wwe_ful l then I don't know if it works for my device, I look for a specific procedure for this version of Qtek.
Saddened for my English and thank you in advance.
apline never had wm5 and up and is not likely ever to get it
andes is pretty rare not sure i ever seen a real andes owner in the forums
so if it works with himalaya roms is not something i know for sure

Click to collapse
xdaIIi =Alpine and no WM5 or WM6 ROM has ever been created for it.
Andes was AFAIK the pre-release (drawing board) codename of the Himalaya. Himalaya is also just an internal HTC name. AFAIK no Himalaya has ever been sold under that name either. And I've never seen any report on any hardware, software or firmware differences between Andes and Himalaya. IMHO all Hima ROMs and software should run on Andes, if such a physical device exists.

Hi,
I want to choose O2 XDA IIi device, but I need some advices or recommendations before I buy it. :-D
Thank you all in advance,
Xda IIi quite interesting but........dont have WM5 upgrade....
I love the IIi as it's running on a faster CPU (520 MHz) than the others do and I don't need the clumsy keyboard the XDA III has, I rather use an external one if need be. It would be nice of course, if we had a WM5 upgrade, but I can live with WM2003SE as well.
I've had mine for a few month and so far no problem at all with it.
hth,
Tin
HI all
I have recently bought a XDA 2s, with the original Widows, on my xda 2 i upgraded to WM5.
I just wanted to know is it worth doing on the XDA 2s, are there any issues, and which rom shall i install, as there is soo much stuff to go through and i dont know which one to go for,(if any ), or should i stick with the original windows
Cheers
Neel
First of all you have to understand that there is no official operator WM5 rom, every WM5 rom is created with hard development by knowledgeable users in this forum. So it is possible wm5 to have bugs. IMHO the best and bugfree rom for now is Ivan v4 R3. The next best will be TuMa 1.5 when it is released.
WM5 is a little slower than WM2003SE, but it is more stable. So if you prefer speed over stability stick with WM2003SE, if not go for WM5.
And one more thing use radio 1.13 or 1.12 because 1.15 does not work quite well with WM5
i am new to the xda mobiles but recently bought a second hand XDA IIS which by default has Win 2003 Mobile...
I have come across a number of WM5 Mobile packages but am unsure about which is the correct one to use to upgrade my unit....
Also some Microsoft forums say that hardware devices running WM2003 cannot be upgraded to WM5 but this site seems to point towards that it is possible....
Can anyone point me at the correct WM5/Boot version packages etc and also explain how the upgrade does work on this hardware when Microsoft forums say otherwise??? Is it a case of hit and miss when upgrading (i read that a dodgy upgrade could make the hardware inoperable
SO The main question is, is it possible to destroy the Hardware if the upgrade fails...ie you would not be able to recover the device from a failed upgrade
well i almost killed my IIs for a couple fo time, but that's about it.
plz read http://wiki.xda-developers.com/.
if u still have question, pls post here again.
btw, the latest rls by Helmi_c is very cool, so u may wanna check it out after u have read wiki.

You can see what ROM I use in my signature and I find it pretty good considering the 50+ apps I have on it. The odd problem but with all the software I have got on it that is to be expected but it is amazing to be running WM5 on a device which officially can only run WM2003SE.
I found that using Tu-Ma v1.3 the device was very slow and buggy but now with Hemli's ROM it runs great.
Hallo,
well i want to use the Compact Flash Card slot of my backpack with WM6.1 on the Himalaya, this has last worked with WM2003 2 days ago, so backpack is ok ;D
BUT it doesn't work!!!

After 12 Roms and various self cooked versions i need your help !!!

you are not the only one that wants to use the xda ii with the backpack in wm 6.1. i have search the forum but there's not solution.i suppose it will be only if someone writes from scratch new drivers for the backpack in 6.1, a little difficult.well i have sticked with 2003 se because i need backpack.i think thats your only option.
