I know this may seem like a stupid question....but can anyone help me with a hard reset? I have been holding down the Power+Camera and hitting reset and I get the screen with the three bars, but I don't get any options from there. When I used to do the hard reset with my old 8125 it was pretty straight-forward but I seem to be stuck trying to do the same with the Tilt.
Any suggestions?

Hi guys,
New user here and I'm having problems already.
I got the phone yesterday. An HTC branded one from Three.
I've found that if I try to do a soft reset or if an application requires a restart it doesn't start up properly. The screen lights up, there is a short buzz from the vibrator then after a while it goes blank and repeats the process.
The only way I can get it to boot up properly is to take the battery out.
Any ideas anyone? Have I got a hardware problem or is it some setting that is wrong? I'm sure the reset isn't supposed to do this.
Try hard reset
soft reset (push the button in at the bottom) and while doing it..hold down the 2 soft keys...
that should throw ur phone into the bootloader screen..
FYI.. strong chance some of ur info will be deleted..not all, but in certain instances it has been known to be equavalent to to a hard reset.

Erm ... no!
Camera button + Reset hole = Boot loader (no harm to data done)
2 Soft buttons + Reset hole = Hard reset (you lose all of your data)
Reset hole = Soft reset (no harm to data done)
Regarding the OP's problem: I think you should start from zero by doing a hard reset and then work from there.
Robert
Thanks for your replies.
I've already done a hard reset and the problem is still there.
If your phone is new / still covered by warranty I'd get it replaced.
If you got it second hand or have already decided to flash a custom ROM on it, I'd try if HardSPL'ing and flashing a nice ROM will cure the error.
Please read all relevant threads regarding flashing before doing more damage than good.

I have tried several times to hard reset using proceedure described, but the phone just restarts.
Help!

Cannot hard reset as shown.
The phone does not show reset message & justs restarts, like a soft reset.
it happened to me also. i thought i can not hardreset but the problem was i was doing it wrong.
my recommendation to you:
try and do it without the back cover. to push the reset you need to enter yr stylus in an angle. that together with the use of the other hand (two fingers) make it hard to hard reset (pun intended). i found that i can do it much easier without the back cover or (also highly recommended for ppl with small hands) ask somebody to help you (three hands method ).
make sure you are pressing the volume down button.
also: keep pressing all three points for 1 sec then first release the reset button and keep the other two pressed for 1 second more before releasing and for god's sake do it over and close to a soft surface..., just in case.
i gave up. my phone is about to snap in half from me holding it down so hard. my hands are ****ing numb. what i think i'm doing is i move either slightly up or down while holding down the enter key and it becomes up or down instead of enter.
i did the settings-clear memory-1234 method but is that really the same as a physical hard reset.
i think i did **** up the phone, the usb connector interferes a little as it goes in the phone and activesync doesn't work anymore.
Try this procedure as another method.
Soft reset and the immediately press the volume down + round center button. Then follow procedure in grey menu to reset device back to manufacture settings. This is the same as a Hard Reset.
Good Luck and try not snap things, especially your device, lol
today's my first day with the phone, i really don't think i should ever try a physical hard reset again if i don't want to break the phone. activesync still works, whew...

i wasn't talking about bricking the phone, but literally snapping the phone in half or something similar from pushing or bending the phone too hard.
anyway, i had a breakthrough today. previously, i was so intent on keeping the buttons pressed (especially the enter button) that i was pushing incredibly hard on the phone, making me feel like i was bending it too much.
and what was happening was that pushing it hard doesn't really help but rather hurt me because it was either being pushed as up or down (or even left or right) while pushing so hard.
the key for me was before pushing reset, to press it not crazy hard but press in directly straight and move up and down to make sure i'm not pushing up or down, and practice keeping it pressed in straight, then when i'm comfortable with that, (while keeping volume down pressed of course) then press the reset button.
and the grey hard reset screen should come up within a couple of seconds of resetting. so if it doesn't appear within a few seconds, let go of the poor phone and try again. previously, i had no idea how quickly that screen was to appear so i would hold it for 1-2 minutes while the phone was going through its booting process. hopefully this helps save some wear on your hands and fingers.

Hard Reset
Switch the device off. Press and hold the "Volume Down Key" and "Action Button" (round button), at the same time, use the stylus to press the RESET button at the back of your device.

hard reset by presses both soft keys and inserting the stylus in the reset hole at the same time. Hope that helps....

take a look at the picture and put the stylus in the reset hole and while you are pressing both keys, you push the stylus in the hole. You will get a grayish screen telling you if you want to hard reset and you will press the green phone button. It might take a few times in case you have fat fingers...
or go here:

I'm doing exactly as u say but it just reboots no hard rest is happening
keep trying....First time I tried it, it took 6 tries because my fingers kept touching other keys....Patience is the key....I think....

it depends on what you are looking for. There are many roms out there for you to choose. MAKE SURE you have HardSPL installed. PLEASE, PLEASE read the Wiki for Kaiser before you flash cooked roms.....

Hi there,
I am just really ****ed right now. I got Swisscom 1.97 Rom installed successfully and just wanted to get rid of the STK Service Message by turning one registry value. Then after a soft reset it just hard resettet itself and completely ****ed up. No touchflo, nothing worked, data storage was completely full. Now it just doesnt turn on anymore, is stuck at the very first screen reading TOUCH DIAMOND and the version numbers, so no chance for me to get into bootloader.
What am I supposed to do now?
phew... after few tries i eventually got into bootloader with the hard reset combination (who in the world thought of pressing volume down, ok AND reset at the same time? i need three hands). reflashing now, hoping everything works well

Um, that is the standard way to hard reset a HTC Touch Diamond and Pro when you cannot get into settings to do a hard reset just lke for the TyTn II you pressed one of the softkeys the end key and put the stylus in the soft reset little hole.
Everyone learns something new every day and this is your lesson for today.
