Well, thought this may help some people
You can either use your own domain/register a subdomain under them
http://www.000webhost.com/
Sorry if this breaks any rules, feel free to delete this thread if it does. Good luck and thanks!
Best one I ever ran across was 110mb.com
You can find a list of all the free web hosting sites here

I am using 000webhost
Though i encounter one of their ip a downtime problem...
Hitting search button for freehost, you can find much more better and bigger space/transfer for free...
Referr to the PREVIOUS LENGHTY POST and the one you find on this page below:
http://www.webhelper4u.com/scams/spywarestromer.html
It seems like we have our site OWNER...
It did a whois serch.. followed by a high level telephone# search and got address and company associated with the exact telephone number as stated above in www.000webhost.com whois info.
I don't know but from the entire database of that single phone number thedomain is hidden behind the PROXI....this may be a deliberate deed to "not get caught"... or something elas...who knows...
The amazing part is that some people actually said they got paid for their referrals...one guy got $330 from them... so he said... and allot of other people had and are great full for success and their "great" service ...it FREE right..TOTALLY FREE thats why they don't offer upgrades and so on... it like having free online storage.
BUT ITHINK THIS IS A SCAM... so be ware guys...!!!! better to PAY or use freeservers ad supported.pages... a great hosting company is www.dot5host.com
SPREAD THE WORD ...they are wicked people out there....lets make a change!!! XDA-Developers.. Keep posting your findings...lets protect our fellows...
Since post is not is this thread Help ful tracking results have be acquired for 000webhost.com's possible orgin.
I also am using 000webhost.com
but i am keen about security... whle doing intense investigation i found out that the EXACT "website whois" of this hosting server belonged also to a number of sites of which one was LABELED SCAM... because they steal passwords adn user info and sell these.. stuff or send you SPAM.
You have to admit its not worth it...
Stop flooding the thread my friend...
Anyway godaddy is a good host server company.
I didn't find 000webhost wrong with their free services...
For your security don't use your very important pw(used in email) and info using the server.

Ok, as does everyone else here I absolutely love this site, to quote another forum member, you guys made my $800 brick work. The only problem is that now I am spoiled on all other forum sites. I really realized this as i started researching my new toy, a fujitsu tablet PC. As a tablet newbie I was, and still am, looking for a site like this one...but for tablets. It's not the first time I've been looking for a site "like XDA but for [insert topic]".
I thought it might be beneficial if I could find out what other, non-WM phone related forum sites the geniuses among you are also active on. Hopefully I could find a similar community for tablet pc's or whatever. Sooo, lets sound off on what other forums/sites you might be active on and/or have found really usefull for other things techno-geeks are into.
My XDA-Dev for China news and biz info site is www.chinalawblog.com

after being with co.cc for a few months for my website theyve decided to change there T&C's so that after a year i have to pay
this would be doable however, my website receives no ££$$$ from donations yet and thereofre there is no money to buy it, and also if i was to buy a domain name it would be .com
my question is can anyone recoment a free doamin name service the supports url forwarding, a google apps email inclsion (CNAME) and wont flood my site with pop ups
NB
This is not a request for money or finacial help. its not spam as im not advertising or offering a service

what are the pricing rates of vbulletin? How many members do you have on your site and how many do you predict would be there by the start of 2010? I'd be willing to assist you in financially if we could break-even by 2011 via donations or whatever.
well the forum is still young we have 303 or so members
i predict to have to have 400 to 450
as for donations ive not recieved anything since it began
vbulletin is roughly
160 $
well if you click on my website in my sig you can see my forum that i host. it is called simple machines forum. i am sure that vbulletin is much better but simple machines forum is free.
well ive got a free foum it invision power board 1.4 final
it just the domain i need
You should really slow down and wait to get some more members. Once your somewhere in the 10,000 then you should get a VB.
well ppl thx for omments but i have solution
have domain and working on vbull thanks to quicksite
also forumer doesnt let me have db so i already hv 300+ members to add manually so 10000 isnt practical
jayjay, you you really check out IPB Boards too, there not as expensive as a vbulletin, That is, if you buy a REGISTERED board. But other than that, good luck.
im using the free version of IPB from forumer.com at the moment
but ive finally got iy sorted im going back to phpbb since im fimiliar with it and then i can keep cabs on the websirte natively
with the fre version iof IPB will not do

This actually disgusts me.
I won't lie, I'm pro-piracy, and don't mind sites that host apps for free download, but profiting off someone else's work is frankly, sickening.
They do have a contact page, why not let them know how much you appreciate your hard work being stolen?
Looks pretty shady anyway, I'd much rather use the Android Market.
I agree. Charging people do get software you stole is worse than stealing it in the first place IMO.
I feel like I just took a trip back to a 1997 Geocities website
this is pretty much a site that leads to warez and shouldnt be posted. i am just saying.

And changed.
It's being hosted by hostedsolutions, their contact info is here:
http://www.hostedsolutions.com/contact/
I'm sure they'd like to know what's on their servers.
Wow that's ballsy.
They even link back to the xda forums for formatting and rooting info.
And Dev's they are taking paypal payments. File a complaint with Paypal too.
They used a privacy company to hide who they are.
And then they used Tucows address as their domain registration address?
The whois phone number rings to a looped recording telling you to go to the privacy companies website. Which does not seem to work.
To bad these A$$munchs didn't also make the stupid Android7 Flash Player. We could have killed 2 birds with one stone.
If the site ever starts 'offering' SetCPU, I will do whatever is in my legal power to take them down. I can't do anything about those Chinese or Russian websites, but if it's hosted in the USA, they're going down.

Piracy is piracy. Don't think somehow a for-free piracy distribution site is any more justified than a paid one. If anything, for-free distribution sites hurt developers more than paid sites: which one do you think attracts more pirates? (Note: Don't somehow come to the twisted conclusion that I support piracy of any kind; I don't.)
The difference between the two jashsu is that there is a large contingent of the "try before you buy" type of pirates out there. They'll get a warez version of an app, and if they like it, they'll often uninstall it and pay for the market version. However, if they pay for it through a third party website, the original developer never sees that profit.
Thats not to say I support piracy, because I dont. I fully believe that people should be compensated for hard work. I'm more than willing to pay for an app up front, and if it sucks, the dev will find out by reading the refund notice when i uninstall it within 24 hours.

Please show me some numbers. To get the ball rolling, i'll post a link.
http://arstechnica.com/apple/news/2...-more-serious-than-first-though-on-iphone.ars
"The numbers that developers might find most interesting are the ones that show "conversion rates" from "lite" versions to full. Only one out of every 14 average users tends to purchase the paid version of an app after using the lite version, which is just under 7.5 percent. For pirates, the conversion rate is less than half a percent, or one out of every 233."
I download apps. If I like 'em, I pay for them. I'll usually go for a "lite" version if one exists. Anyway, rather than have this thread derailed into a debate about piracy, can we get back to the topic at hand?
I've notified the host, lets see if that does anything.
Sigh. Nothing like a little bit of piracy to set a forum on fire. Doesn't matter what forum you're visiting, could be a forum for food - and the first mention of piracy is bound to bring up what I like to call the forum nazis. Everyone is entitled to their own opinions, and no amount of gestapo trolling will change that. I find it interesting that people break various laws of various countries / cities / states daily and of course, it's overlooked. Someone makes mention of piracy and all of a sudden you've got the ePolice regime banging on your every post as if it were going to change something. What's my point? None, really. (But there again, there's also no point in bashing piracy, it's not going to make it any less existent.)

I hope you don't think that I assumed my post would change ThrashWolf's perception on piracy. I was merely pointing out how humorously sad this statement is:

I mean.. maybe i'm the only one who finds that just a bit hypocritical? I would have been completely okay if he/she just said "hey dudes, theres a paid piracy site, lets get it shut down" or "I like piracy". But to go and say "I am a pirate, but these other pirates disgust me".. idk.. maybe it's just me, but that's just ridiculous.
Then again what do I know?
Also they spam the android market with there links so make sure if you see it report it as spam.
Doesn't anyone pay for their apps anymore ...
I'll admit it, I pirate apps too, but only to either try it or if I have no other way to even purchase the application.
The thing is, being a high-schooler, I have a cheap, prepaid credit card that only allows transactions in USD. Many apps aren't available in the Market in currency other than Euros or Pounds so I have no other choice to use the apps than to pirate them.
This kind of behavior where people are selling pirated copies instead of just making it available for people who otherwise can't even buy them is really annoying though... anybody thought of a way to get them shut down?
I'm honestly debating to pay for a membership and email every dev that has an app on their. The other known site I've already found 6 apps from me on their and they were removed. But since this place charges just to get a peak I'm very tempted to pay and make sure every company knows and can write C&D's to them and the host.
Piracy is always going to be an issue. Always. I have pirated apps before, usually to test out an app update I have already downloaded and refunded from the marketplace. If the update fixes things I had issues with, I will buy it. If not, then I delete it. I have bought and kept 21 apps from the marketplace so far. I believe my use of pirated apps is fair.
I am not trying to justify piracy, but merely stating it is a great tool for me. I am aware that a lot of people pirate apps just so they don't have to pay for them. I believe that is wrong. However when comparing those who distribute an app for free to those that charge for an app that is not theirs, I believe that the one who distributes for free is the lesser of the two evils. The one who distributes for free is going to reach out to more of the potential market yes, but the scumbags who actually charge for apps that someone worked hard on are the true thieves IMO. They affect a lesser share of the potential market, but keep in mind their "share" is willing to make a purchase in the first place, while the freeloaders "share" is questionable in that department.
Just my 2 cents.
I am looking for a web development project to refine my skills. I'm short on ideas after completing the surprisingly unpopular yet unbelievably useful Trly.gd.
I will work only on anything useful to many people that can at the very least earn 15$ a year for the domain name. No need to monetize it, as long as it doesn't cost me (because I already pay ~200$/year for servers and domains).
Tell me, XDA-Developers, what would you like to see on the web? Let your imagination go wild!
All New Rom with Change log and screenshots..
All working application and games with sceenshot
I like http://trly.gd its just im in the habbit of typing in www.google.com. Marketing is the problem your having, people can be very lazy and sometimes need to be forced or otherwise motivated into using somthing until it becomes a habit.
Maybe you can make a win mo and/or android app for it, and continue to market it as an advanced search device. Let it be skinable, and invite people to upload their skins to share.
then you could even cook it into a rom.
Help people asking for stuff by directing them to trly.gd and the search results it produces. Remember Rome wasnt built in a day, and before Google was king there were yahoo and altavista who were usurped.
If you like i can also advertise it in my sig, prob wont help that much but at least its something.
anyway sorry if this sounds patronising but I do wish you the best of luck
regards
Chris

I know, marketing just isn't there, and I have a lot of stuff to do. It's still a fun project to learn web development.
I'm not in the WinMo scene anymore and I'm about to drop Android too (hardware sucks ATM), but I could make a lil' something for Windows Mobile users around. You know, Trly.gd has a mobile format
Hi,
I am Wen. Alot of you know me for either working on XDA's front page or WMPoweruser.
Well I am looking for someone that would be willing to work for one of my sites.
The site is new, and I just made it last night after being bored.
The site is a general phone site, so can talk about any phone news, which means your job is really easy.
All you do is:
Find 10 interesting news anywhere in the web about phones( I like smartphones more than dumb phones, but either works)
Write about it.. with good English and grammar.
Post it or schedule it to post the next day 1 hour apart.
This job isn't hard, and you will get paid for it. And if your good enough, you will either get a raise or I will find a bigger higher paying site for you, but only if you work hard.
What are the benefits of being an editor. Well you get to review phones(right now, I have the Palm Pre, Pixi, Motorola Droid, Devour and more. all to review). you get free things(right now I have the Jabra Stone, and Jabra Halo).
You can have all that if you work hard enough, and this job doesnt require much.
My pay can be discussed if you PM me.
BTW you might want to know that site you will write for:
MobileBlab
Its only 24 Hours old
A couple qualifying questions...is this US-based equipment? How do you anticipate to have the editor experience the technology first hand so they can write about it. I'm sure that you don't want someone to write about things second-hand. I mention this because you cannot steal photos and stories from others without subscribing to their site or network.
you read sites and write news... i dont need a reviewer just yet. and yes usa
Which is the same thing, you should not be stealing stories from other sites or write about news second hand. You've got to be able to put up stories that don't exist elsewhere, especially in the digital world today. What you need is underground sources that can feed information to your "editors" to put out stories. The only way to take second-hand information, from stories that already exist on the web, and use them to your advantage is to aim your site at a specific section of the market. Even then, you need permission to run the story and pictures.
A perfect example is Tmonews.com. They take stories and just publish the ones that are relevant to T-Mobile users. A generic phone site won't catch on.
I DO, however, have an idea that will catch on because I'm not seeing it elsewhere right now and it would be the perfect time to market the site. PM me if what I say makes sense and you're interested.
I am not quite sure what your saying because all the sites do that.. its not called stealing unless you dont link back to them.... Engadget is the biggest example alot of their news are from other sites.. so they just link to them and use the news.
So... ya.
But I will PM you to see what you have to say

I'm not a news follower but rather a tweaker/tester kind of guy. I share my discoveries with the rest of the world with nice tutorials.
If you need someone to write easy-to-follow guides or to review phones (I tried every platform but WebOS and Nokia's), then I'm your man. You can see samples of what I write on my blog (blog.nicolasbouliane.com).
UPDATE: By the way, you won't get many visitors with copypasta since most people refer to a single site for these news (generally Gizmodo) and won't like reading the same stuff a day later on another blog. A simple description with a referal (à-la Lifehacker) will do the job for anything that's not original content. You should instead try getting visits from Googlers looking for a specific topic.
I would be very interested in this type of position. Where would I need to submit a sample of my work? FYI, hiring a woman with tech knowledge is very chic these days
So you girls really do exist!
Really, a female.. great ill PM you... now I need One more.. and If I get more than 1, I have more than 1 sites... I have http://theandroidfeed.com and http://mobileosnews.com
count me in I'm pretty there when it comes to phone news
what do I have to do generally
I still think you should be more specific in your market.
Answer this question: Why should I go to mobileblab over engadget, mobilecrunch, techcrunch, cnet, wmexperts, or coolsmartphone?

Cnet, just watch their comperison videos.. Iphone never losses.. but not much Engadget.. but Gizmodo does.
