Different hold tone or tone when connected - Tilt, TyTN II, MDA Vario III General

Hey guys,
Is there a way to have tone (e.g. mp3) played for the person who is calling you before the phone is picked up? Let’s say someone is calling you and the TyTn 2 connects it instantly, but before I pick it up the TyTn 2 will play a small song?
If the above is not possible, is it then possible to have a different hold tone?
Sincerely,
Niklas

I know some phones can do it, my friend had his chocolate play a song, but i dont know if the Kaiser can do it. Also, im not even sure it "was" his phone, this may be a service provider option.

Is there really no program that can do the job? Basically just a small app that answers the call and plays a preconfigured mp3/wave.

Att has what you call answer tones. Only problem is that it's not free.

I live in Denmark, Europe - so I'm not looking for an ATT solution.

Call transferring

Don't know if this is Kaiser only, but since I'ts a kaiser thats giving me grief here goes...
We're using a mobile switchboard and as part of the group answering our main phonenumber I'd really like to be able to transfer calls with my Kaiser...
Normal phones (as in my last Nokia E61i as well as my N95) gives me the options to park the current call, dial my colleague and then "transfer".. I can't find this option on my Kaiser..
Is this option not available in WM6 or is it HTC that has "removed" it? Or perhaps, is there a thirdparty software to help me with it
Go to Start / Settings / Phone / Services / Call Forwarding.
I'm talking about call transferring not call forwarding..
Transfer = I answer the call, call another contact & transfer it to him..
Forward = all my calls go to another contact and/or number...
Can I push this up, cause I'm desperatly looking for this function on the kaiser.
Maybe there's some addon or a special key combination to activate call transfer on the htc kaiser?
yep - this is possible but is network dependent.
you need to put the call on HOLD.
call your colleage/2nd party.
CONFERENCE the call (so you and 2 callers can hear each other)
then YOU hang up - they are left connected and chatting (but at the expense of YOUR bill!!!)
Hope this helps you.

Thanks for the answer! I will try this when I'm back in my company.
The costs are no problem because we call each other in the company for free and the call transfer is only needed to redirect customers to the right contact but I think it's a long way round when there could be a simple option in the menu (like hold and conference). Every other mobile I know offers a direct way to do this (either a menu item called transfer or by pressing a number).

Tested it and it doesn't work. It simply quits the complete conference.
Again, maybe there's a special dialer which supports it or some kex combination to press.
I really need this feature!
Solved!
So here's the way it works on wm devices:
Get the first call and put it on hold.
Make the second call and press the number 4 followed by the green phone button.
The second call is now transferred to the first and you are finished.
Great thanks to my phone provider ONE who came up with it!
Nice find! Does not work on my Q-Mobile 1.2 Tilt with AT&T.
I get "cannot conference calls"
I contacted AT&T and they said there is no way to do it.
I did read that if your call comes in using a Google Grand Central number you can transfer it using Grand Central specific codes.

Yes, it's a "feature" that your Phone Provider must support in order to use it.
I get "cannot conference calls".
I know for a fact that the same sim when used in my old v v old ericsson r380 world phone allows me to conference multiple people.
but my kaiser (running stock) says the above message.
how can i conference calls? the phone looses part of its utility value if I am unable to use this feature. someone got any tips/ tricks for me?
p.s. i initiate both the calls...
conference call is not the same as call transfer!
You can start a conference as described by firstbuddha a few posts ago in this thread (you just shouldn't hang up if you want to stay in the conference). There's also a menu item for conference call.
If you use my method with pressing 4 and the green phone button you are trying to transfer a call which is only possible when your phone provider allows it.

AT&T - Announce Recording

Hey Friends,
How do I program the phone or thru AT&T to announce a recorded message before connecting to my cell phone?
Ex: You call my cell # and hear a brief intro "Welcome to Tvos's Phone, please hold the line until connected". - Once it connects, I answer the
phone.
Is this done thru software or AT&T
tvos
I never heard of a program that does this, although I did hear some carriers playing a song while you waited - that was compltely though the carrier.
It would have to be through the carrier.
Was it a Windows Phone, because I had a software on my Nokia N95 that does that, but it was a little diffrent. You press 1 to stay on the line, press to be transfer, and press 3 to leave a voicemail.
That was all software.
would be cool if this function was not carrier dependent. nice change from ringing to something else

If its software capable of Symbian OS, then it should be capable on Windows OS.
The answer..is answer tones
If you have the att service answer tones, that allow you to choose music instead of a standard ring, then you also have the ability to record up to a 20 sec intro...used to work there....
thanx,
i will look into this with at&t..
tvos
I know Verizon does this. My cousin has Steve Harvey talking about if this is a bill collector, you know I'm not answering. It's funny as hell
they are called "answer tones" which AT&T does supply them with a fee (of course).
Here's the FAQs on them. Should be interesting to see how this works!
http://www.wireless.att.com/learn/ringtones-downloads/faq.jsp#what_are_answer_tones
I actually signed up for the service. It's only .99 a month to have the answer tone and to purchase the song clip is $1.99 for the year. You can assign each person a specific tone or whole group.
Now, what I would like to have is a professional voice message w/music when answer machine plays. Anyone know how to perform this feat?
tvos
when the service first rolled out you were able to make a personalized recorded greeting... they have since removed that feature, you can now ONLY use songs/clips, etc that they approve of... yes, very lame...
i could understand that - unfortunately the public has to ruin a good thing... imagine calling my # and hearing a woman moan...

Call waiting problem in all PPC

When you are calling someone that has another call (Call waiting), your PPC do not show in a notification or beep that the second party is having another line.
This is available on any very basic symbian phone.
Is there a cab to fix that?
Share a solution if you have one..
This is a feature from your carrier.... Call waiting works just fime on my Kaiser

Call waiting works fine on my Kaiser as well.
The carrier here has this option.
This is not the problem though.
The problem is when you call someone up from a PPC and that party has another line.
You should get a beep or a visual notification showing that the person you are calling has another line (my call is waiting on his phone).
So, if someone has a solution for this; please share.
Ok what I think your talking about is when you call someone that is on the phone, you hear a quick beep indicating that they are on the line, correct????
If this is what you are talking about, YES it is carrier specific. For example, when I call my father on Verizon and he is on the phone with someone else, after each ring there is a small beep. This is telling me that he is on the line.
There is nothing you can do to the Tilt to change this, it is carrier specific.
True... and there are also some PBX systems that provide the ring/beep when you are the call waiting. It usually depends on the phone system of the person you're calling.

I think that is carrier specific too.. if I am calling some someone who is busy on another call, I get a completely diff to ringing tone.. Infact in most cases I get a audio message that the person I am calling is busy on another call and I should wait or call back later... Atleast thats what we have on all major carriers here in India...
ok we know that carrier has to support it, i know t-mobile does...
i used an old nokia to check and it works, it beeps and the whole screen says CALL WAITING, then it starts ringing...
i haven't seen any Windows Mobile touch screen or not that can do this
so its a carrier thing, yes t-mobile supports it.. windows mobile doesnt support it though!!!
so there is no way to make a .cab or something to fix this problem
It's not broken so how can you fix it? It's just not a feature that is offered.
it is not about the carrier. for instance when i had a nokia, when the other party was on the phone i had a beep in my phone, but with the WM devices, you cannot see that you call is waiting.

Outgoing Ringtone/Music on Hold

Hello everyone - I couldn't think of a name for what I'm talking about, so I thought I would explain it. I sometimes hear music when I call someone's mobile phone. It's like they chose a tune for callers to hear when they call them. Also, another person placed me on hold when they received a beep, and I could hear a tune playing. The person said that their device begins to play through their playlist when they use the hold or swap feature. I asked what they were using, and they were using a Palm device.
Anyone heard of software that I could get to allow these functions on my Tilt?
Thanks!
Outgoing ringtones are a network feature.. they'll do it automatically for you and charge you an additional monthly fee.
Oh... OK Thanks.
I found a registry setting somewhere, that you can point to a sound/music file as a custom 'on hold' tune. I tried several audio files, however it didnt work.. so I guess it does depend on the network..

# Rings Incoming Calls

Hi,
I have a CDMA Touch from Telus Mobility in Canada.
The issue I am having is # rings with incoming calls.
I am using latest Jawbone Bluetooth headset, when I have an incoming call, I receive 2 rings and calls goes to voice mail.
I have called HTC Support and Telus support, they have no solution.
Is there a setting to modify the number of rings for incoming calls?
dave3211
If you're talking about the number of rings before the voicemail kicks in, yes there is a solution if your phone number is in Alberta or BC.
I dont know what Alberta or BC is...
but on my phone i do it like this...
Start->Settings->click phone->'Services(dono if it's called this, second tab)
There is a list, in that list there should be (again, dono the english word) 'forward to'
click Get Settings...
now u can set the number of secunds before it connects the call to voicemail..
with the intervals 5,10,15,20,25,30 seconds (at least with my phone provider)
hope this helps
thanks nisse thats very helpfull.
by the way forward to is call forwarding.
Excellent!!

3 rings delay in incoming call
Hi,
This might be due to another related issue:
There is delay of 3 rings before the diamond actually starts ringing.
i.e, after the caller has heard 3 rings, only then the diamond starts ringing, and by the time you pick the call, there will be many rings and it will go to answer phone as usual.
As soon as there is an incoming call, the light starts blinking. But there is a delay in the ringer/vibrate. You can try this out by calling from another phone.
This might be cause for your issue.
I too am having the same problem, and I'm searching for a solution. Maybe some cab which fixes the 3 rings dealy in incoming call... I'm sure there must be some such cab. Still going through the threads in the forum.
Could anybody please point us to a fix if you know...
Thks,
Sandeep
I've got the same problem on my touch pro..
It's even worse actually - I'm experimenting, but it seems like half the time the phone *never rings* when wifi is on and if it's asleep...
What the???

I think that he's referring to the 3 second delay built into most phones. On earlier devices this was fixed by changing the polling time in the phone programming. (often referred to as the Slot Cycle Index). I haven't tried it on my Diamond as I haven't noticed that much of a lag.
Since I was thinking about it, I decided to try. I changed my SCI from 2 to 0.
I did look and found that I don't have that "Forward to" option in my phone settings. Probably a provider change.
