PCM Keyboard issue - Tilt, TyTN II, MDA Vario III General

Ok first, i thought i saw a post about this before but i couldnt find it in search so here is my question. I like using the Pocket CM keyboard, but often it wont let me use it. If i select PCM Keyboard it just goes strait to the default keyboard without doing or showing anything.
I have also had this problem with another touch keyboard (i think it was Vito's or one of the other big companys).
Has anyone else had this problem or know of a solution?
EDIT: I found this thread that seems to have the same problem. IF this is the cause, does anyone know how to completely uninstall SPB Pocket Plus? I had the demo installed, but the time ran out so i uninstalled it. But i know it leaves traces because it knows the time ran out if i try to reinstall it.

Same here. Sometimes it works, other not.
I also have SPB

I have this problem with all 3d party keyboards and I have never used any spb products. If the keyboard doesn't work I just soft reset the phone and then the keyboard works again.
I have an Orange UK Tytn 2 stock rom. Wonder what causes this problem?

Look for a program called sipchange it might help you.

I had SPB Pocket Plus (un-installed it because it wiped out my "X" button/task manager) and am now currently using Resco Keyboard Pro w/o any problems.

On my Kaiser I too had this problem with Pocket CM. However I have never had this problem with Cootek's Touchpal. I have configured Touchpal to activate at start up

i've never had this problem.
PCM Keyboard is awesome... but hardware keyboard is better IMO

I also am having this same issue with Pocket CM Keyboard but I never installed any SpB products ever. Any other ways around it?

HTC Touch keyboard breaking autocorrect?

I'd like to use the HTC Touch keyboard on my Tilt for the times that I don't want to slide out the keyboard, but installing it seems to break the autocorrect feature when I am using the hardware keyboard. I see a few other people mentioning this in various threads, but I have yet to see any mention of a solution to this problem. I've tried all sorts of combinations of enabling and disabling autocorrect and various xt9 features, but the only way I can get autocorrect back is by uninstalling the HTC Touch keyboard.
By autocorrect, I'm referring to the ability to type in "il" and have it automatically change to "I'll"
Hi - did anybody find a solution to this? I've been searching high and low!
I'm in exactly the same boat - I love HTC keypad as it really helps me use the Kaiser one-handed, but I really miss the auto-correct on the hardware keyboard.
Is there a version of this SIP that doesn't break auto-correct?
I tried the HTC phonepad, but just couldn't get used to it after using the newer Keypad.
I would love to have a good T9 style SIP, but also have autocorrect on the hardware keyboard......anybody that can help?
Thanks!
I'd noticed that too, quite annoying as the touch keypad is so useful.

I too found the same issues yet I loved the T9 input using the touch pad. I removed the xT9 one and installed this one instead.
You still get T9 and it works fast too. The internal keyboard auto correct also works with it too.
Is also made by HTC but can't remember where I found it. May have been on here before or recently.
I've been earching for a solution to this as well for months now. The autocomplete that XT9 disables is part of wm6 which it calls "word completion." When XT9 is installed via htc keypad, word completion ceases to work along with the feature that auto-fills contacts as you start to type a new SMS.
Thanks for posting that pkonepad cab, but unfortunately.that' the sip that radatia mentioned above. The buttons on the new HTC touch phonepad are bigger and easier to use.
What we really need is someone here that knows some programming to somehow alter the touch phonepad so that xt9 can be toggled on and off (without a registry change and restart), or better yet somehow change it to use a T9 like the phonepad's instead of xt9...
I have exact same problem. I love the htc virtual keyboard because became useful. However once I installed it, the hardware keyboard word completion no longer work I need that too because I use it.
I have another question, do anyone know if I can make the default windows word completion to auto select the top most word suggested list so I can just enter space bar to select it. Now I always have to use down key to select the word 1st. Not efficient.
Just wanted to bump this topic. There have got to be others out there who share our frustration... and someone who can put an end to it!
I've given up on the HTC Keypad, much as I like it and it making the device usable one-handed.
Have moved onto the PocketCM Keyboard as my preferred SIP just so that I can still keep word completion when using the hardware keyboard.
Hope that someone posts here if a solution is eventually found......
oh man!
I'm the opposite.. how I wish the hardware keyboard is not auto correct enabled when I use it.
I've tried dis-abling the auto correct etc.. dun seem to work..
now using Resco keyboard..
it's the next best thing, but kinda defeats the purpose of getting the tytn II in the first place.
Yes the touch keyboard has many issues when used on kaiser. i can't get autocomplete to work with the hardware keyboard either unfortunately.
I do know that "multiword completion" in the xt9 settings or whatever is a bad thing and causes other problems, so i uncheck that. But, still can't figure out how to get autocomplete to work.
I spent a lot of time searching and installing/uninstalling these things to try and find a perfect mix, no luck though. It's still QUITE usable for me, but i would like auto complete for hardware keyboard, though, i dont think i'd use it as i type realy fast anyways with it.
It's quite hard to justify buying a keyboard when we are able to install a free one that *almost* does what we want! pcmkeyboard with iphone buttons and XL touch skin is good, but i am realy starting to like xt9.
:-( i have this problem now and love the keyboard...

Tilt SIP Keyboard Problem

Has anyone else had the following problem? I've installed alternate keyboards (HTC, Pocket CM .12, TouchPal) and none of them seem to work. They show up in my drop down, but when I select them the Tilt will still use the default keyboard. I even tried changing it using the input selection under settings to no avail. All of the screen writing selections work fine.
Any suggestions?
try a soft reset if you haven't. or try installing to main memory
Tried multiple soft resets, reinstalling all of the above and placing in main memory.

thanks!
Ive had the same problem... i just gave up and went on with the norm...
I've had the same problem before. I have several onscreen keyboards installed and sometimes I can't access most of them. They just go to the default onscreen keyboard. A soft reset typically fixes the problem. For a little while at least. Kinda weird.
SIP problem
the same here :/

exact same thing here with touchpal v1 and v2 as well as pocket CM keyboard, but any keyboard built into a rom seems to work fine all the time...
Got your answer
Google up IM Selector, install it to the main memory and change the SIP default in their dropdown menu. Softreset. Bam, whatever keyboard you use.
IM Selector doesn't work on my Device
I found the IM Selector on http://www.freewareppc.com/utilities/taptapkeyboard.shtml but it doesn't work on my XDA Orbit 2 (WM6). Maybe the HTC Touch Keyboard is the problem but I can't uninstall it.
Try sipchange
I installed a new IM (Calligrapher) and I experienced the same problem. My solution was to use the utility SIPchange and it worked fine for me.

cootek touchpal problems

Hello all!! I recently installed Cootek Touchpal on my TILT, and I sometimes have problems with it, sometimes it freezes up and doesn't let me enter in any letter, other times letters vanish from the damn keyboard itself. Does anyone have the same problems with it? I really like the keyboard and how its layed out but the problems are just getting on my nerves. Does anyone have a alternative keyboard that they use without opening the keyboard? I use it alot when im in the car, when I only have one hand free. thanks
http://www.cootek.com/
Have you tried posting here?
http://www.cootek.com/forum/forum_topics.asp?FID=3&SID=3z91z2e48672b5cc631abzca4ba58a6b
No I haven't posted there yet, but I was just wondering if anyone had any other keyboards that they use. Becuase the default one is small, even if you put it in large keys mode.
Oh then you might want to search for that.
alrighty then. Thanks

I use the cootek TouchPal 3.0 I used all versions since it came out. I actually do not even use the hardware keyboard anymore I can type so much faster on the TouchPal. I have had freezing when trying to type but I have always found it to be the ROM not the keyboard. What ROM are you on?
-McMex
First the snapshots looked good. This is somehow similar to what we see in marketing : products branded with nice designs, but the quality poor.
My device, Axim X51V, is quite a fast one, or this is my impression about this kind of CPU's. Touchpal made me feel I was using a 200MHz OMAP.
So after a few tests in which I've seen it doesn't do much I've uninstalled it quickly. Sorry, but there are better alternatives, so I won't stick to something inferior.
If anyone needs to know, I'm currently using FTPRO, it's simply the best KB so far, you can download the CAB Attached and give it a try. More details on www.fingertouchpro.com
Ciao!

Diamond Keyboard problem

Hi,
I don't know what I've done, but when I'd like to write some message, or whatever, the original keyboard (full qwerty, or compact qwerty) keyboard starts up with the symbol pad and it's not possible to switch it back to alphanumeric mode. The only way is to invoke keyboard switch menu and select the same keyboard again. then it works as usual. Does anybody have the same problem?
as I said, I don't know, what I've done, or installed, bud I think, I've installed Advanced config 3.0 recently
I have the same problem... I also don't know what is wrong.
I also tried to disabled T9 with some tricks... that's all...
Some suggestions??
Thnx
Since yesterday I also have a problem with my HTC keyboards.
All 3 options, Qwerty, Compact Qwerty and the phonepad only gives me numbers.
I have tried all the settings.
It does not make a diverence if i turn of T9.
On the keyboard i can see the nummbers and the letters.
This is very irritating, can somebody please help?
Or is there an original cab version, al the cabs i can find are Qvga.
I have tried the Touch keyboard and it gives letters in stead of numbers, but its Qvga.
Thanks
Same problem here on the CDMA Diamond, I tried two different ROMs already the Sprint Stock ROM and a Telus Custom Juicy's 2.0 ROM. I can't use it at all and I hate doing a Hard Reset. Someone shed some light on this please.
Same problem here, have tried everything
Well I solved the problem by uninstalling PCM Keyboard... Too bad, I really liked it
Does anybody know if it's possible to run pcm keyboard without having this issue on the diamond?
since day 1 my keyboard did not show predict text ? anyone can help me ?
I had the same problem , it appeared from nowhere ..
After also trying different tricks , i solved the problem using Resco Keyboard
Pro ... It also responds much better to my taste with the touch screen
interface of the diamond.
I have had this problem on the Touch Pro too having used PCM keyboard.
Unistalled it and all back to normal.
Pity.
Same here, alas PCM's copy & paste was cool, but not if I can't use the other keyboards...

How do you use copy & paste with PCM? Which version of PCM keyboard are you using?

logmein keyboard issue **SOLVED**

o.k. There seems to be two ways to solve this.
If you want to keep the software keyboard do this:
go here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/show...2&postcount=36
1. Download & install the KforTouchPro app.
2. Launch KforTouchPro (It is installed into the Games folder)
3. Click the Switch to M$ IME button.
4. Click Minimize in the lower right corner
5. Launch Logmein using PIE
6. Type away using your hardware keyboard.
If you only use the Hardware Keyboard and do not want to use KforTouchPro:
This is a simple Regedit.
[HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\Layouts\e001 0409]
(MS IME mode)
Ime File = \windows\compime.dll
Layout Text = COMP IME
-or-
(HTC T9 mode)
Ime File = \windows\eT9ime.dll
Layout Text = eT9 IME
WOO HOO!!!!!!!! Thank you very much to KevinGibert, fhsieh, and Colorado_al

I am using pie on an at&t Fuze. The keyboard does not respond? I have seen several folks on here that say they use logmein.
Is this a fuze issue or a logmein issue?

Same issue, on my TouchPro, with stock ROM and now with Elite ROM, same issue.
Anyone got any work around?
Same problem. Since my previous device was a Touch, I never missed/used a slide out keyboard. The keyboard works just fine on the Kaiser. I'm going to question Logmein on this issue.
glad to see i am not alone! I have been having the same problem
Yeah, one thing I dont understand is that the virtual keyboard from the apps doesnt work either...?
Also what Cab are you guys using for the remote client?
RACtrlCE?
I'm having the same issue, I think it would help if we all submitted a support ticket.
Ah, crap. Me too.
There is a workaround:
If you change your input method to the default WM keyboard by pressing to the right of the keyboard icon and choosing "Keyboard" before you start the session, you will be able to use the soft-keyboard. Still no hardware keyboard.
It sucks, but at least it works. If I can't have a fully functional LMI setup on my FUZE, I'm returning it.

No go... that didn't work for me. I submitted a ticket and the tech did not understand what the problem was, I resubmitted. this is going to have to get resolved soon.
Nice, keep us posted, thanks for taking the time to make a ticket =)

Fix
Here's an app someone made in another thread. Basically the reason the hardware keyboard won't work with some legacy apps is because of the way the touch pro's auto completion system works. This app lets you switch it off.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=2791652&postcount=36
Has anyone had the opportunity to test this app yet? I dont have my fuze with me today because I was kind enough to swap phones with my wife today to see if she wants to upgrade from her BB Pearl.
I would love to know if this works so I can update the first post with the info.

Make sure you're not using T9. On the QWERTY KBD, there is a switch for ABC - T9. Make sure it says ABC, then switch keyboards, and try it again.
Not sure, but worth a try.
I just tried the above posted CAB and it still does not work. The only keys that work... and they worked prior to the CAB were the arrow keys and the Del key.
Al,
Which ROM are you using?
I tried with this CAB in the past, didnt help.
T9 is one of the first thing I disable as well...
I just tryed again with Elite ROM, no changes. I can use shift/tab/del/enter/arrows, but no letters/numers/special characters =(
Just spoke to Support, they know about the issue, it has been escalated but there is no fix at this time nor is there a timeframe for an update.
Just wait till more people get there hands on FUZEs from AT&T, then they will blow their FUSEs!
So right now the best thing I can think of is to enable the onscreen keyboard (OSK.EXE) in windows and place a shortcut on ur quick lauch. What a shame... that we have this nice slideout keyboard and no use for it!
I feel bad for the people who pay for logmein pro, although I am sure they have more influence than I do as a free user.

That would me me... Unfortunately, I don't think I influenced anyone during that call. Not to say that 200 - 300 support tickets for the same issue wouldn't either. IMO I think anyone having problems with the TP keyboard and logmein should report it to Logmein whether they pay or not, it might get them to move on it a bit faster.

I just submitted this just now...
Hello, I am currently unable to use the built-in keyboard of my new phone in Windows Mobile 6.1.
My phone is a HTC Touch Pro also known as the ATT Fuze, I and other user of the same phone all have the same issue.
I am told it`s a known Issue, can I expect a patch/workaround or a newer CAB to address this issue?
Thanks

You might try the software found in this post:
http://www.forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=2791652&postcount=36
It changes the weird raphael IME to a default one. Works for me in PocketGBA and even DOSBox and TomTom.
If it works, maybe you encourage the author to open a thread especially for this software as I searched quite a while to find a workin solution for the strange keyboard behaviour.
