Unlocking Qtek 9100 - G3 - 8125, K-JAM, P4300, MDA Vario Software Upgrading

Hi All,
I've want to upgrade my Qtek 9100 G3 to a newer IPL/SPL, so i followed the unlocking & Rom upgrade instructions on http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=285435 created by Dr Puttingham.
I was able do downgrade the Button 1.05 ROM version.
So far so good...
the next step (15) CID unlock did work.
Type the letter and press Enter: c

if i try to read the CID block from the phone i get an REX error : Current_CID has no value. in the REXX script named: at line number:1092.
I also tried to do this on command line of the qtek:
Cmd>r2sd all

usTotalBlock = 1 sizeof(SDCARD_SIGNATRUE_TABLE)=512

Can someone give me a pointer where to look, or how to repair this problem.
Kind regards,

Update
To be complete i used the latest version of lokiwiz03a

SIMLock Code is your code... Type it with another SIM in...

could not determine a key index
Thanks for help.

You got a G3 device, why use lokiwiz03a,this version works best with G4 devices and can only generate a SIM unlocking code and doesn't CID unlock the phone.
If you want to SIM/CID unlock your phone, use lokiwiz02b.
As for the WST tool and REXX erorr, which version of WST tool are you using, download the latest version of WST 4.2 and read the thread of WST 4.2 about how to solve the REXX erorr, you have to delete certain old files of older version of WST tool.
Cheers!

The first post contains a screen dump of lokiwiz02b.
The program gave the same error: could not determine a key index.
In the update, I tried the latest version of lokiwiz to give a complete picture. And to be sure it's not a software version problem.
About the service wizard tool by Mestrini:
I'm using version 4.2.1 (2007-10-09) downloaded from:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=329170
This states that V4.2.1 (10-10-2007) is the latest version.
I search for the Rexx error : CID has no value, but was unable to find the solution you suggested. Could you please point me to the thread where this is discussed and solved...
Kind regards and thanks for the help,
Marc

Check out this post in the WST 4.2 Tool thread, hope you'll find all the answers here in this thread for your problems.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=329170&page=11
Cheers!

I've read the thread, but the problem that i have is probably related to a corrupted CID? The version of WST is not a upgraded version, so a clean install of version 4.2.1.
See WST screendump of SIM unlock action:
Decrypted stored sum: FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF
Decrypted calcd sum: 769A5E63B0D4DE89
Checksums did NOT match!!
Could not determine a key index to decrypt it.
Your CID block must be corrupted or file isn't
from a valid CID dump!!
Aborting operation.
The feedback when i read the content of the ROM - zone: CID (bdk1) is all 0xFF. So this is probably what's wrong. But how to correct this problem?

Well, sry I'm no expert on this, its better you post this problem in the WST Tool thread or ask mestrini ,he's the best in here on these problems,I'm sure he'll find out the solution.
Good luck

@zabardast_1
tx for the compliment m8
@marcQ
I read your PM but i prefer to reply here since it might help others in the future.
i must say that it's such a coincidence that i was messing with WST version 4.2.2, which didn't happen for quite some time, and got your PM that lead me to solve another bug
As for your particular case i believe that you have a corrupted/empty CID block thus not allowing WST to read it nor lokiwiz to unlock it and the solution is to write a new one to it.
If WST's "Device Info" works use it to read the key index of your CID block, then go to the "Data Crashes" thread (check my signature) and download the matching CID file for your device.
In case you can't find out your key index write any CID file to your phone just to get the CID block back.
report back
cheers

problems after upgrading to Mr CLean 2.24

The upgrade to mr CLean 2.24 went wrong.
Now the bootscreens shows this :
IPL 2.24
SPL 1.01
OS 2.24.10.1
( so NO radio ROM )
Looking at the device info I see this
ROM Version : 2.24.10.1 WWE
ROM data : 4/17/06
ExtROM version : 2;24a Mr. Clean
Then I added manually a radio rom :
Radio Version : 01.13.10
Protocol Version : 4.0.13.24
Using a higher version of radio ROM doesn't work !
anybody an idea what's happening ?

Your device is in a BIG mess! I think you upgraded it (from a 1.x rom) without CID unlocking it first.
You can either:
a) try to CID unlock it with Lokiwiz 0.2b (follow the directions in the dedicated thread). If you succeed then you must reflash MrClean.
b) downgrade to 1.x rom (follow Faria's 'Solution found...' thread), then CID unlock the phone and reinstall MrClean
BEWARE: with 2.x IPL and 1.x SPL your phone is in an highly unstable (and potentially dangerous) configuration. While you can try solution (a) quite safely, i strongly suggest you to wait for more comments before trying (b).
Many users experienced your problem before, search the forum (look especially at those threads i told you above) and QUIT PLAYING with your rom (or gsm part) without knowing what you do.
Good luck!
Just ran the CID unlock tool -- see results below
Afterwards reinstalled MrClean 2.24 , again same problem , GSM Rom was gone - Had to add manually 1.13 radio ROM

In the log it says:

The final string "Your phone is now CID unlocked" is hardcoded and so it is always printed out, even when the process hasn't actually succeeded (this behaviour has led many users in believing erroneously that their phones were unlocked when they weren't).
What you should do now is follow the steps in this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=47848
That is: install a 1.xx rom (the one suggested in the thread) and run the CID unlock again (don't forget to install the enablerapi.cab first). Then you should be able to successfully install whichever 2.xx rom you like.

Hello guys;
I had a new HTC Wizard yesterday. It's a Orange M3000 French one. It has already loaded with 1.03 Rom.
My IPL : 1.03
My SPL: 1.03
I suppose that i have a G3 device.
According to this tutorial. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=285435
I have firstly ran lokiwiz 0.2b, i have successfully sim-unlocked the device, then i re-ran lokiwiz for CID Unlock (SuperCID) which gave me:
"Your phone is now CID unlocked....".
Please note that my battery is fully charged.
Then i have downloaded T-Mobile 2.26 Rom, and started it. It recognized my device, it says that it will update my device, and it shows me the progress bar indicating that it can take 10 minutes.
The problem is, on this screen, it reboots my device, my battery light becomes orange, and 10 seconds later, the light goes off, and the device is turned off. Update utility gives me ERROR 260, Update ERROR.
I have to remove the battery, re-insert it to boot my device again. Please help me, i'm really stuck guys.
Cheers

No doubt it's a G3 device with ipl/spl 1.03,cuz G4 devices does not have ipl/spl 1.xx and as ipl/spl 1.xx is required to unlock phone using lokiwiz02b,there is no need to downgrade to 1.xx through button's rom 1.05
ERROR 260 : UPDATE ERROR
This error occurs when there is an “open port error” before upgrading the CE ROM image.
Solution: You can reset the device and run RUU again. If you still encounter an “OPEN PORT ERROR” again, reset your computer and try again.
What is the status of your phone at present ?
Does it wok normal,it loads up the previous version of OS which installed with ? or it goes into bootloader mode(multicolor screen) ?
Well,if it works normal download WST tool and check the status of your phone whether it's CID locked or unlocked, but,if it goes into bootloader mode ,than download official carrier's Rom from it's website and get your phone into bootloader mode (multicolor screen) and flash it,it'll start normal and revert back to your default status, then check the CID lock/unlock and proceed further for upgrading as the guide instructs, cuz I presume your phone is not cid unlocked, good luck
Thanks for your kindly reply zabardast_1;
I've made a "Clear Storage" so it restored the previous ROM (i suppose). The previous OS is currrently running OK, booting up OK, showing IPL/SPL/RADIO values, reading my sim card. So when i'm testing the device with mestrini tools, (Wizard Service Tools), the output is:

Please note that IEMI read on ROM and CID is the same, i have just removed them from copy-paste. There is something bizzare, because i have a formatted mini-SD card which is not recognized in drive & partitions. (it's a 512 mb mini-sd).
For going into Bootloader mode, I use the method above:
-> perform a soft reset, when the screen goes blank hold the camera button until a multi colored screen comes up.
When i try to make a soft reset, it works. The device restarts itself correctly.
When i push the reset button and try to hold the camera button, the device remains shut down.
I really don't understand what's happening. I really need some help. Thanks in advance.
Hello guys;
If someone reading this message, please read below for the solution if you have a Htc Wizard (Orange M3000) French with 1.03 ROM. (1.03 IPL / 1.03 SPL)
A Thread that contains exactly the same problem: here
Please read carefully "xeno1" response. When i was trying to go into bootloader mode, it was unsuccessful everytime. So turn off the device (not stand-by, turn off), then please remove your mini-sd storage card (if any), remove the usb cable. (Be sure that your battery is charged over %50, mine was over %90).
When done, push the camera button, then push the "power" button, wait a little while, when the device will come up, it will be in the bootloader mode,
(red, green, blue), and will show your IPL/SPL values. Connect up your USB cable. "USB" will appear on the bottom of the screen.
Now you are ready to flash your device. I'm pretty sure that you must follow the following tutorial for flashing.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=285435
I've downloaded Button Rom (1.05) and successfully flashed my device on bootloader mode. Please be patient when you're flashing your device, even
if %98. It can wait a little bit, 5 ~ 7 minutes. Enjoy!
Edit:
Once you have flashed with Button Rom, you can use lokiwiz 0.2b, or Wizard Service Tools for SIM Unlock + CID Unlocking operations. Once done, you can go to flash with T-Mobile 2.26 Rom. When flashing, it can also wait at %85, please be patient.
And thanks to XDA crew, forums members.

Your tool WSS (Wizard Services Tool) is a great tool mestrini, it's more easier to use. A GUI is very helpful for a beginner than a text-based tool. Besides, lokiwiz is a great tool for the scene. Thanks for bringing these tools to our usage.
I have made some progress, at the beginning, i have searched "No Connection", "Error 262", 1.03/1.03, xeno1 post was really helpful. So if i can help other forum members with same situation, it's great. I think that we are here for sharing knowledge and experiences.
Is there is a way to modify the topics subject ?

But his phone isn't so don't advise Shelltool; it's not a good practice because Shelltool doesn't display progression and if cable is unplugged early it can leave a corrupted ROM.

Another unadvised advise
SSPL and HardSPL are for G4 devices only. I made the checking routine and if he tries to use it will pop-up a warning.
Use Dr. Puttingham's guide to downgrade and unlock and it will be fine.

First always provide vital data of your phone before asking any help,it determines the DOC chip of your device, therefore post IPL/SPL of the phone.
Your phone is CID Locked, now if it's a G3 version then follow the unlocking guide by Dr.Puttingham, but if it's G4,follow the method described in 'SoftSPL or HardSPL' in G4 forum.
Cheers !

I did a HardRest to T-Mobile ROM, connected to ActiveSync, went through the XP-ROMUpdate Utility until 100% completed, Clicked on Finished.
Saw the TNT Series It's Right with 2.26, 2.26, 2.25.11 and 2.26.10.2.
Then for some unknown reason the MDA restarted and came back up with the T-Mobile Hard Reset Screen and ask for a tap on screen, etc., to go through a total reset back to the T-Mobile ROM.
What did I do wrong?
Even after the T-Mobile ROM reset I still see the TNT Series It's Right with 2.26, 2.26, 2.25.11 and 2.26.10.2. screen but then my MDA is displaying the T-Mobile Today screen with the default Today stuff.
What do I need to do?
Thank you.
It sounds like your phone is not cid unlocked
Did you follow these steps for unlocking before flashing ??

Used WST V 0.4.0.0 and did a CID Unlock and received notification that CID Unlock completed. Do a Soft Reset which I did do.
Tried again to Flash both ROMS and they did show 100% competed/finished.
MDA softreset and showed both first screens of flashed roms, then went into Windows Mobile T-Mobile.
So, what did I do wrong?
This is the message I received after the CID Unlock:
All Done. CID Unlocking is finished and you
can now flash any ROM to your device.
All Done.
Don't forget to soft-reset device!!
A file with new CID value was created.
A backup file was created in program's
folder to restore to previous state.
This is other data:

Where am I going wrong?
Thank you.
You didn't read the stickies carefully.
You need to flash the Button's ROM to have your IPL and SPL lowered to 1.01 before unlocking!
YUP !
It is must to have IPL/SPL 1.xx to CID unlock the phone,so read the sticky carefully and follow the method correctly.
Cheers!
Thank you both for helping me. I do agree that one should read very carefully. No excuses. However, there is so much to read and so many postings to read from. Again, I do appreciate your help and now I will find the T-Mobile Origirnal 1.xx ROM to load and go from there.
I will post this and I hope I do not get flamed. These are just suggestions from a new person. Please accept them as such.
1. Why did WST display that my MDA was CID Unlocked when it really was not? Should there be an edit up front to check for the correct IPL/SPL?
2. Why did both ROMs go through a complete cycle and then display that the ROM was completely flashed when it was not. Should there be an edit up front to check to ensure that the CID is Unlocked rather than go through all the install?
3. Why did both ROMS leave the splash screen on the MDA? Is there a way to get ride of them?
I know, read the threads before you take any action. Thank you both! You are right.
1.
CIDkey: MODULESN
CID IMEI: xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
CID: WIZTMU01
Phone is CID LOCKED
WST does NOT show that it is unlocked...
2. Yes, there is checking in the Original RUU, all RUU in our custom WM6 ROMs are modified to bypass the checking. That's why it won't work if you try to flash another Carrier ROM to your Wizard without replacing the RUU program.
3. Just flash your original ROM (IPL+SPL 1.xx), unlock, and flash it again then you will get back the original splash.

(Not to disagree with you, but I did get a display that:
'This is the message I received after the CID Unlock:

So, WST did display it CID UNLOCKED my MDA. That should be corrected in WST.)

(I was addressing not the Original RUU, but the Flashing ROM that does not check or bypasses the checking. Would this help others if this edit was performed prior to executing the complete Flashing?)
3. Just flash your original ROM (IPL+SPL 1.xx), unlock, and flash it again then you will get back the original splash.

(Yes, I will do this. Thank you again for your help.)
Don't ever trust the successful message when you unlock CID (This is the same for using LokWiz02 also). Always perform CID check again after unlocking, that is the real status.
Cracking is not easy. Bypassing operations is relatively easy. Adding operations is very hard, so...

You are correct. One must never ASSUME that something is done. I wonder how many others have fallen into the same trap?
Latest status for me now is that I have:
IPL 1.08
SPL 2.26
01.0.9.10
2.26.10.2
So, I am back to the drawing board and trying to flash again. Tried WST and TNT and still did not take.
Maybe I am doomed to be with what is on the MDA.
Thank you again.

There's no such trap, its just that the method is not correctly followed, either missing doing some step or doing a step incorrectly, resulting in not getting the things done correctly.
WST tool will not work in bootloaders ( multicolored screen) or in the splash screen stuck up.Secondly,TNT Rom is a wm6 rom,it won't flash or work with IPL 1.xx,it has to have IPL/SPL 2.xx and a CID unlocked phone.
after you flashed Button's Rom you got IPL 1.08 and SPL 2.26,reflash the Button's rom a couple of times more to make IPL/SPL 1.xx,it sometimes takes more then one flash to downgrade ipl/spl 1.xx,then apply lokiwiz02b to SIM/CID unlock the phone, upgrade to IPL/SPL 2.xx by flashing T-mobile 2.26 or official stock rom of your carrier AKU 2 Rom,only then upgrade to TNT series wm6 or 6.1 Rom.
Cheers!

Well I finally flashed TNT 19199 Pro and it did install completely. I did use Button ROM which installed 1.08, 2.26.010.9.10 and 2.26.10.2. Then I used WST to CID unlock. Then I flashed TNT.
The main reason for me trying to flash a new ROM was that my MDA Touch Screen capability is very sporadic. It works some times, but not all the time. The only way I can get it to work after the Touch Screen is no longer touch sensitive, is to re-flash. I know that is not practical, but I want to try to resolve this Touch Screen problem.
Even after this latest Flash of TNT, I am still experiencing the same Touch Screen problem of not recognizing using the stylist.
Any suggestions? I assume that it is a hardware (MDA) problem and not a software (ROM) problem.

How to CID Relock?

Hello!
I would like to relock my Wizard but I don't have the backup of my original CID-Block. Is there a way to relock it?
I have a german G3 Wizard from Vodafone.

Please help!
Thank you!

WST allows to CID lock the CID block to any value you'd like; even your own name
You must get the value of your service provider and type it in the text box after selecting the "Write Custom CID" option of "CID Actions" button.
But the most important of all is that the IPL/SPL must be 1.xx!!!
Please report back. tx
Thank you very much! Great info!
I knew about IPL/SPL in version 1.xx to change the CID-block! It's like unlocking the Wizard.
Last question:
What is the correct value for my service provider? It is Vodafone DE. Can I find it with a hex-editor in the original Vodafone ROM?
Thanl you!
Jan
Check this post where i uploaded a file with a list of CID values that i extracted from somewhere (RUU file or some ROM area, can't recall)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=1112604&postcount=8
There are at least 3 mentions of Vodafone Germany so i guess you must look somewhere else (also) and cross information. Perhaps ask someone with CID locked G4 device from same provider to read the CID with WST and let you know
that's all i can do.
cheers
A friend of mine has a locked G4 Wizard from Vodafone DE. I will try that! Thank you for your help and your great tool!!!
From your list it could be one of these:
VODAPH01.................German
WIZVDF12.................GER
VODA0501.................GER
One more question to see if I understand it. An other solution could be:
1. Flashing an 1.xx ROM
2. Use WST to change the CID to "VODAPH01" for example
3. Try to flash the original Vodafone ROM
4. If it works: BINGO! Found the right one
5. If I cannot flash the original ROM back to step 2
This should work right?
I am going to read the CID of my friends G4 Wizard and do step 1 to 3 with the right value.
I am so happy! Thanks!
Jan
G3 and G4 have the same CID value?
Sure?
Thank you!
Jan
I'm glad i could help.
Just don't forget to post the final result.
Good Luck
cheers

Yep. Just the hardware and IPL/SPL change
OK, that was very strange!
The CID of a german Vodafone Wizard100 called VPAcompactII is: WIZVDF12
I flashed the Button's ROM for CID relock.
First I tried to write the new (old) CID with WST v4.2.1 (shame on me). I got the error message that it could not be written because of the G4 SPL.
I could write the CID-block to disk but I could not write it to my Wizard. I was already thinking that I would have to try it with "lockwiz". But finaly I checked the version number and downloaded the new 4.2.2 version.
Second try and everythink looked nice! I could flash the new (old) CID and reading the CID-block showed me that my Wizard is now CID-locked again with the CID WIZVDF12. Very nice!
Than I tried to flash the original Vodafone WM5 AKKU2 ROM. Everything looked good but than my Wizard entered the bootloader. The SPL should have been 1.01 but now it was 1.01.0000!
Just a small shock. Flashing worked fine and now I have CID-locked VPAcompactII with original ROM IPL/SPL 2.21 and everything is fine!
Thank you so much!!!
I thing I noticed: With the Button's ROM 1.xx your WST could not tell the CPU Manufacturer. Now with the Vodafone ROM everything works again and it tells me:
CPU: Texas Instruments - OMAP850

All right!
The different CID value must be from the other file being from an old RUU i guess, but I'm so glad it worked out fine in the end.
The issue with the v4.2.1 is natural as the SPL check routine was a bit messy and the 1.xx failing to get info is also natural as the addresses where info is collected differ and most people use 2.xx and higher nowadays
cheers
PS:
Don't forget that you can't flash custom ROMs now
