Well I guess I'm risking my head being a newbie making a new thread but I've searched and havn't found any talking about this - or maybe I just havn't understood what was said between the lines - you pros can be very difficult to understand sometimes - please don't kill me
I pushed my windows start button and selected "programs" using my dpad and in "Programs" I was using the touchflo function and it was very laggy.
In the HTC home plugin I still have the standard icon for programs - next to the Comm manager - and when I enter "programs" this way I have no scroll lag at all.
Is this the same you get ? (Have anyone tried having PIE as an icon in HTC Homeplugin?)
This has been asked/noticed before.
The home plugin actually launches another program.
Thats why theres a different in "speed"

Htc home launches another program called folderview.exe.

Today i discovered something weird. Normally i always start the program list from start -> programs. When i scroll through the list it reacts really slow. Today i started the program menu from the HTC Home starter menu. That's the icon right next to the weather icon. When i start the program menu that way scrolling goes really smooth.
Is there someone who can figure this out?
Wow I can confirm that. Really weird.
Always thought that this had to do with the lack of graphic drivers...
***Prays that there's a hidden driver that acts when things are loaded from the Launcher tab***
I also tested and it's true. I think it's a different application, one that caches the icons at start, but still...
Yes! Finaly something positive about TyTN2. Works for me, too. Great find, BenchMarc.
Anyone has got an idea how to map this to Start->Programs ?
Just done it on my (stock rom) Vario 3, that is really wierd, and theres nothing in taks manager to suggest its a different program though?

It IS a different program.
Try this:
1. Start (HTC) Programs from HTC HomePlugin
2. Start (Windows Mobile) Programs from Start->Programs
3. Now when you minimize (Windows Mobile) Programs by tapping [X] (HTC) Programs will still be underneath it. This wouldn't happen if they were the same application.
The difference I noticed is that one seems to have touchflow on it - the other doesnt.

I have touchflow with both on my Vario 3.
By the pause that occurs before it launches it appears to be pre-caching the icons. Any way to link directly to this program, so I can map it to a button?
Surur
I found it, htchome launches a different program named folderview.exe.
You can find it in your windows dir.
yeah, it's a different app!
(if you open programs from htc home and you go into the games dir there's an X button to close and not an OK)
anyway, do u guys know why is that touchflo scrolling in the "programs" app is not like in a different app? i mean.. for example in contacts, or messages its smooth and its similar to iphone. but on the programs screen its not that realistic. for me, its scrolling almost 2 times faster than i drag my finger.
is there any way I can change the star menu programs folder to the folderview.exe

I'm currently using a trial version of PP and on one tab I've included the HTC Home plugin that came on the phone (T-Mobile Vario III).
However, when using the multi-directional pad on the phone to navigate the interface, the button in the middle of it (to select) doesn't work on the HTC Home plugin - it works on the SPB GPRS Monitor (that is on the same tab) but not on HTC Home. To select anything on the HTC Home plugin I have to physically touch the object on the display, annoying when it's in a case and I have to open it up.
Is this a bug or is something just not set up right?
Thanks for any help.

At this moment I do not have the HTC Home plugin installed, but I think I know what's the problem.
Open your registry, and navigate to: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\MICROSOFT\TODAY\ITEMS\
Now go to HTC Home, and check the value of the SELECTABILITY key.
Cause I don't have it installed at the moment, I'm not sure what value it should be, but I think you have to change it from 1 to 2.

Thanks, sadly it's already set to 2
edit: just set it to 1 to see if that was any better - it wasn't
I had all kinds of bugs with the SPB products on my Tilt. I really like them but they seem to conflict with the HTC home plugins. I took everything off of my phone except Time.
I'm running PP and solved this issue by moving the bits I need directly onto a PP tab.

Assuming I'm understanding what you're saying correctly, that's how I already have it set up
HTC Home is one of the ticked plug-ins for the tab
Try This
greg3d posted this in another thread and it worked for me:
"This may be the same issue that causes the HTC Home plugin from not being able to be used in a tab initially because it's locked (unmoveable in the Today screen ordering).
The Solution there is to change the registy as such:
HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Today\Items\HTC Home
Type=4
I suggest you browse to the same Registry directory (HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Today\Items\) and look for the Egress plugin and change the "Type" Dword value to 4, it's probably set to 5 (locked) by default. In the unlikely event the key is not there, try adding it.
I don't use Egress, so cannot check this out for you."
Tried searching for this but I can't figure out what to search for to get the results I want. Is there a way to alter your settings so that clicking the X in the upper right corner of a program closes it instead of minimizing it? Going through the Task Manager every time is a huge pain. I think there may be an option under the X menu on the home screen, but the ROM I'm using removed that X, so...help? I'm positive this has been asked before but I can't seem to find it anywhere (especially since "x" gets filtered out of searches).
Take a look at the HTC Task Manager, it has that option
Tap and hold down should close the app. I find this sometimes isn't reliable though - especially with WM Mediaplayer and on some occasions it only minimises the app. On other situations holding down the 'x' wont do anything and it has to be released in order to minimise the app. This is with the stock HTC WM 6.1 ROM listed in my sig.
Yep, that worked I think the ROM I downloaded didn't have HTC TM, so installing that let me do exactly what I wanted.
Use wktask, best "x" program
I prefer Quickmenu to wktask. It is one of my favourite apps and it gives you a Windows desktop type cascading menu, allows you to switch bluetooth etc etc etc lots of features and it's free.
Hi all,
Just bought a Diamond in replacement of my Cruise.
This Diamond is beautiful and easy to use but I have not fount a profile application to use with.
I need a profile application that can control Bluetooth, rings and notification volume in profiles like cars, home, work .....
I usually used PhoneAlarm but with the Diamond and the touchflo screen, it is not possible to add the today plugin ...
So I have tried an application called PZP and the PZP Menu software that I launch using a long press on button. this application is great but eavy and slow to load...
So I am now searching an application to manage my profiles through the TF3D (why not ..) or with a button on the task bar for example.
someone has an idea ?
regards
i have this same question and couldnt find the answer. has anyone solved this yet?

...sure: Disable the manila plugin ;-)
You could always remap a TF3D soft key to whichever profile switcher application you decide on?
I've tried PhoneAlarm in the past (http://www.pocketmax.net/phoneAlarm.html) but now use Wireless Time (http://freewareppc.com/communication/wirelesstime.shtml) which alters my profiles based on the time of day.
Don't think there is anything integrating tightly within TF3D just yet
I'm the developer of PhoneWeaver (I'll don't put the link to avoid it to be considered SPAM, but it is public that beemer=miguel). I think it is the best profiler program in the market and I can tell you as a secret that as long as I have a Diamond as my personal phone, current version works well on it and next version will be fully optimized

I haven't yet managed to find working documentation for WirelessTime. Presumably you need to keep it running and there's no minimise option. I can't work out the configurable time option under the settings that seem to defaulted to 00:10, but it looks like hourly configurable slots on the main screen. I have searched, but can't find a manual, either on PDAInfo, Google, or here. Any pointers in the right direction?
If you are still looking for a tool to manage profiles, here you have
- Profiles for Windows Mobile
I bought it a year before, and they told me I could get 2 more licenses. I have been trying to contact with them this month (in order to get my second license for the diamond), and no way.
So, in the trial version you would be able to configure and programme 2 profiles. Anyway, if you look around the web...

I have created a link to it that I put in the startup folder so it runs on every soft reset. I never have to open the program and it doesn't appear as a running program.
I've not found any docs either, but I've left the time option set at 00:10 because I wasn't sure what it did! On the main screen I've just highlighted what I want to be 'on' each hour, and repeated that for all the days in the week. Been working fine for me on this basis

Hi
At the Diamond, how you change profiles? where you connect it to?
I am using Phoneweaver I have added a button to the Phoneweaver Menu on my Programs tab and when i press that i get my profile list ... works a treat
SPB Phone Suite is nice - and if you couple it with Second Today then you can access all of the home screen plugin options for switching profiles.
I encountered a problem with my HTC Tilt today. I was playing around deciding if I like it more with or without touchflo running, and later in the day I installed that Task Manager 3.1 program (which seems very handy BTW) and that is when I noticed that when I am in the "programs" or "settings" windows, the way to scroll by dragging the screen has changed. Before, I would just click anywhere and drag with the stylus and it would scroll. Now, I have to like tap and drag it, and it'll continue scrolling non-stop until I tap on the screen again. The same thing happens in internet explorer. Other programs such as Opera browser is unaffected.
The interesting thing is that drag-scrolling with my finger has improved dramatically, and works great, but not with the stylus.
Can anyone help me get it back to the way it was before?
I'm a bit noobie to these gadgets, but I'll catch on.
edit: the scrolling with the stylus works fine if you drag the scroll bar.
This phone is awesome, but the one complaint I do have is that the phone speaker volume isn't very loud... it needs more ooomph.

i'm not certain if the installation of Task Manager 3.1 would have had adverse affects on the way that drag scrolling works...
for starters, you should know that some applications like opera mobile 8.65 and opera mobile 9.5 betas as well as resco explorer and lots more applications implement THEIR OWN drag scrolling logic.
next, you should know that HTC's touchflo, from the day it was introduced (with the HTC Touch) all the way up to the latest incarnations of TF2D (manila2d) and TF3D, is capable of "hooking" in to the Windows Mobile interface elements (scroll areas, etc) to provide drag scrolling behavior. however, it is nowhere near as good as the custom drag scrolling logic implemented in the applications mentioned in the previous paragraph.
finally, you should know that if you have TF2D (manila2d), there are TWO ways to get to your Programs window. Start->Programs will launch the Windows Mobile native program browser (where the cumbersome "hooked" touchflo behavior works) while launching the Programs listing by pressing the "All Programs" softkey from the Programs Tab will launch a custom program browser that looks and feels EXACTLY like the native Windows Mobile program browser. In the latter case, you will notice much much better drag scrolling.
i think the HTC uses the same approach as mentioned above for the Settings window.
make sure you are not getting confused by the above mentioned differences in your debugging and assessments.
another thing to check would be whether or not you altered the touchflo sensitivity parameters (try KaiserTweak to mess with those settings).
