So the note problem might be that you may not have notes installed in your ppc. maybe replaced by OneNote?
as far as memory goes, you may have to use the Wizard Service Tool 2.xxxx
look for it on the forum.
it is a pc program which allows you to change your pagepool to allow you to squeeze some ram.
If you are not using a Wizard, then you will have to edit your registry somehow, or get a rom with a smaller pagepool. some are 2mb like mine, some are 4, 6, 8, 10 (TNT) and some are 12 .
I found that the smaller the PagePool the faster the rom... but at the same tome I believe that corelates with battery performance (guessing by observation.)
What's your hardware?

@ Scooby
There are several was of doing it, by far the easiest is using BAL666's method. Do a search for his name and you'll find it, eventually.
@ Sexiali
Nicestart is a password utility which offers a skinable password screen as well an enhanced security such as access history logging, locking on a set number of faied attempts, mapping hardware buttons to numbers etc. It looks better too.

Pug,
The photo you included along with this posting of your PDA with the black and lightning, is that screen setup through one of the piece of software you mention, through Nicestart or somthing else?
To be honest I can't remember where the image came from, I think it was through the setup program. Definately not an extra skin off their website. I'll have a look through my archives as I've been using an Exec for the last 6 months and it would have been a long time before that since I modded my extended ROM on the Alpine, which I don't own anymore sorry. Watch this space.

Helmi BA WM2k5 AKU3.2 Beta (v.1.3.2 Beta)
In this second minor update currently progress is:
- Mamaich Paging Pool patch 16mb/32mb
- Modem link added to ROM with bt set at COM6.
- Audiogateway Registry Fix
- Wifi & Bluetooth Coexistentcy.
- Ability to save everywhere with Pocket Excel
- Smart Dial v2.2 is added to ROM. (if u dont use it just disable it)
- Flight Mode, Task Manager, WM5 New Menu, WM5 Storage, & USB Mode Switch added to extras folder.
- StartUp Manager by baniaczek
- Use ace_ddi as video driver (Landscape & Portrait fully supported but gif file wont show in PIE, use D3D_Driver driver to support gif with PIE but Landscape mode will need to re-align after soft reset)
- .NET Fix included
- Transcriber included.
In this beta, hv all the feature from v1.2 plus new OS built (AKU3.2 OS part taken from Lt.Cmdr.Ivan AKU3.2 for UNI with help by indra9110) and speed improvement and also new ROM base (5.04.06 taken from logout template since its newer version display).
Known issues:
1. There no internal integration beetween Comm Manager and Wifi, cos Different Driver beetween Wizard & BA (I've succesfully combine them in the past but forgot now how to do it again...and i still cant remember it...hell!!!..lol). I think I'll love someone who help on this.
2. When BT On, IR On, WIFI On, ActiveSync On, the tray might flick.
3. Some help file and Some Picture/images has been strip out from the ROM to create space for more usefull app.
Tips:
1. Disable Sound (Sound & Notification >> Events) might help system speed.
2. Disable Sound in phone (Phone Settings >> Keypad >> Off) might help phone speed.
3. Backup/Sync ur PIM with active sync first (Contact, email, etc) if u upgrade it from old rom (anything below AKU3.0 ROM) cos PIM management are different from the old rom ur old backup will not work, but ActiveSync will work Ok.
Please read the readme file, I dont hv time to update Wiki page, but I'll love if someone do the wiki page for me. btw I think the information in Readme file is enough to flash ur rom and since no 'real' extended rom so no further preparation is needed, but u might consider to make ur old Extended_ROM size to 128kb to make more storage space for ur device.

hi all
Sorry if this is a bit of a dumb question but i read all of the time about not restoring a full backup when upgrading a rom but above it says restoring if lower than AKU3.0 will cause problems.
I have 1.3 installed and would love to upgrade to this latest beta but the thought of reinstalling everything again is putting me off.
Is it possible to be able to upgrade the rom and use a backup from my 1.3 machine (either from spb Backup or the built in backup)
thanks in advance
I have succesfully restored all my programs using the rom-upgrade tool by Sprite, which can be used with sprite backup 5. Please note that you should exclude your PIM databases, as they will be different. But you can of course always sync these back from outlook via activesync. This will always work.
Helmi-
Thanks for the great roms. I'm currently using 1.3 with an 8MB page file...No real need for me to change, since i just spent a long time yesterday doing the whole install/reinstall/customize thing.
What I would switch for, and you talked about it before, is a new version of the AKU2.3 build. I much prefer MS Voice Command and there isn't too much need for 3.2 as of yet (not many applications for it...)
Are you still working on something like that?
THanks again!
32 pool + 16 ramdisk works fantastic. BT, WiFi, Media, Camera, iGo GPS flies, phone on first ring.

Thanks Helmi.
32MB paging pool and 16 MB Ramdisk is my choice.
Hi Helmi
in 32 MB paging pool and RAMdisk 16 MB version.
The RAM should be 77 MB , but it is exactly only 61 MB.
I think 16 MB RAM is hidden somewhere.
But all works fine ,It's great.
Thanks.
.
...
incredible speed!
but I have a problem with SmartX, when i try to configure it show the error "SmartX service not activate". And I cannot activate it, because the check is disable and i cannot tap on it.
This one is really fast!
Even the IE is fast!
Great, thanks! Keep up the good work.
Nothing new, practically... Yes, except the mem.pool size, but thats a thing everyone can do
My personal benchmark
This is realy great :!: I think we now have the WM5 features on our BA with better then WM2003 speed.
Since Helmi'c 1.2 version i keep track of the tomtom startup time after initial flash, app's install and configuring.
on 1.2 : over 30 seconds
on 1.3 : about 18 seconds
on 1.3.2: about 9 seconds 8)
on 1.2 with PHM overclocking: 13 secs
on 1.3 with PHM overclocking: 13 secs
on 1.3.2 with PHM overclocking: 8 secs
Best speed ever!
I confirm that memory available for programs is only 61 MB, instead of 77MB.
back on the 1.3.1 thread, I posted my suggestions to map the Hardware buttons with the 'mail' icon to left softkey, and the one with the IE icon to right softkey. I think someone replied me, but looks like I have been misunderstood. I do NOT mean to change the functions associated to the softkeys, I want to MAP the HW keys to them.
I know how to do it, but it would be good if they were already set up like this out of the box.
And having the backlight NOT turn off while on external power.
Kudos to Helmi and Mamaich! I guess we will see 1.3.2a or 1.3.3 soon, because of these missing 16MB...
Some ideas, my opinions

Some people would like that - some wouldn't. Some will think the change would go too far, some people will be confused, asking about what happened etc.
But really, if someone got used to that setting he uses , regardless of out-of-the-box status, he uses his own setting.
I mapped the softkeys to HW buttons, becouse HW shortcuts to PIE and Messages are unuseful for me. With softkeys mapped like that, it is possible to use BA w/o stylus and using just one hand in most cases. I don't need to touch the screen with my fingers, to use softkey.
Good idea.

Bad idea.
Nice ideas overall.

hmm... If we use 32mb Page pool version it should 61mb left, for 16mb page pool it will 77mb...
about hardkey, I think it whould be wiser to make it standar Joe, to avoid confusion among user, cos it so cuztomize..
and about backlight, maybe some AddOn/Patch? I'll try to learn about it.
currently I'm workin on AKU2.6 as a replacement for my old AKU2.3 as so many user complain about compability issues with some app (MS Voice Command for example) currently not workin is sms with this aku2.6 rom after that I'll go back to aku3.2
Got hold of version 1.32 of Helmi's rom. Here's my boot time right after installing of rom, without any other software I normally install myself.
1. Paging 32MB and Ramdisk 16MB - 36 seconds
2. Paging 16MB and Ramdisk 32MB - 35 seconds
I decided to stick with 2.
Overall, what I can say is that it's very fast now. I use to need to wait for tmail.exe to open but now, it opens instantly.
I'm very happy with the speed now. I can basically leave with this now. Cheers to Helmi and to the guy who found out about the paging size.

Hi Helmi,
I quite like 1.32 rom (AKU 3.2) with the paging size upgrade, except like others, is still missing MS Voice Command. You mentioned about AKU 2.6 rom, other than giving back MS Voice Command, what are the differences from 1.32 rom? Can the paging size be increased like the current 1.32 rom?
Thanks.
Hi, ALL
I have G3 T-Mobile MDA (Wizard), running Wm5 custom ROM from Xelencin and latest Radio ROM.
Also I have installed
SPB Diary, Pocket Plus, Weather, Imageer, Backup
Resco File Explorer
PhotoDialer Plug-in
WM5Storage
MemMaid
Some RSS Reader
iGuidance
MS VoiceCommand 1.5
IMPlus, Skype
Yahoo 2 Go, Google Maps, Live Search
TCPMP
etc
most of these on 2GB miniSD. Everything works. I use most of that from time to time.
I saw faria WM6 ROM. I saw MB Rom, I saw Mun's Rom. My question is - do I need to upgrade to WM6 ? Will it add something, which probably I'm missing ?
Or it is just to have latest Windows Mobile OS ?
Second big question - will my apps work with WM6 ?
Also if moderators think this question belongs to Wizard Mobile 6 forum, can you please move it

Do you need to upgrade? Probably not. I will say that most (not all) of the custom roms will give you more space and will run faster than the stock official roms.
Will add something, which you are probably missing? The quick answer is yes. You are missing the frustration that some of us go through with these . Seriously though, its hard to answer it, but for me I find the custom roms more stable than my original Cingular 2.25, faster, gives me more room on the phone itself, and just more fun to play with (but then I'm a geek).
I can't honestly say why the draw to WM6 other than the geek factor involved and the ability to show friends and coworkers that you are running WM6 (and they don't care anyone or don't even know what you are babbling on about).
I would suggest you at least give Faria's or Molksi's 2.3 and 3.3 ROMs a try even if you aren't interested in WM6. They are VERY nice and stable. But also, understand that you will have to fiddle and tweak with your phone for a day or two to get it back to where you want it.

I've used Spb Backup, Resco Explorer, WM5torage, Memmaid, MS VoiceCommand 1.6 all on Faria's AKU 3.3, WM6 MBE, and Faria's WM6 "the real thing" and they all work.
I'll defer to others on the rest of your list.
I know you didn't list it but, as you are using other spb products,
spb time doesn't fully work
How did you get Yahoo go 2?
double post
I received email with Yahoo go 2 and there was a link. Just went there and install. Dont remember exactly, but something like that
It's only available for smartphones... You don't happen to have a link/file handy? :d
Yahoo Go 2 for smartphones and pocket pc phones:
This is where I got mines from, they had it as an option when it first came out but now it is hidden and they want your phone information to send it to you.
This link will get you the cab. file and the active sync download.

I should be getting my Kaiser the end of this week. Is there anything I should do immediately after receiving it?
Getting the Kaiser because my 8125 broke (the usb breaking issue). I'm no stranger to flashing roms, but just wondering whats the scenario with the new device.
Will I notice a big difference as far as speed/performance compared to my 8125.
Thanks!
Visit SPBsoftwarehouse.com and checkout SPB Mobile Shell - SPB Diary and SPB Phone Suite. Then for fun SPB Brain Evolution.
Then later on get PHM Registry Editor (free).
Then look into memmaid for maintenence.

I'd probably opt for
1) SPB's pocket plus
2) Wisbar advance 3
I'd also get
a) PHM Registry editor (free)
b) TCPMP (free)
c) MemMaid
d) Kaiser Tweaks (free)
If you want GPS navigation
i) Microsoft Live Search (free)
ii) Google Maps (free)
iii) TomTom Navigator 6 (dependant on if you have Kaiser or variant, and where you live -- free/paid)
The Kaiser ships with "Sprite Backup", this is a an older version, but works OK. Dont contemplate changing if for the "Upgraded version" or SPB Backup unless you have issues
The Kaiser also ships with GPRS monitor, this is SPB's GPRS monitor under a different name.
You might want to use the HTC Home Customiser thats around, however backup your phone before doing so (I changed my clock font using it).
the first thing to know is that htc suck because there is no hardware acceleration for the qualcom chip coz they don t want to relese the driver lol

If I had to do it over again, I would not have gone for the Kaiser. As it stands, I will likely go back to my 8125 at least for a little while until some of the issues get worked out.
You may be better off finding a cheap 8525 from ebay to use until something lives up to what you would expect from the specs. The Kaiser has many issues. Here's a few
1. Many people have complained about poor Bluetooth headset volume. This might require purchasing a new headset.
2. Since the 8125 days, you now need to buy and adapter to use a standard 3.5 headphone jack.
3. Video playback is very poor
4. Game play for anything with 3D graphics (hearsay to me) is very poor.
5. TouchFlo - It is so buggy it is pretty much useless.
6. After several iterations of both moblie OS's and PC OS's, I still can not get music to "sync" without issues. It took me DAYS to get 4GB of music synced as I had to keep reconnecting. Every 40-50 songs. This had been a problem for me since WinMo 2003 and XP, and is still problematic with WinMo 6 and Vista. I have never been a big fan of iTunes, but at least it WORKS.
7. This depends on your supplier but for me, the AT&T ROM is chock full of useless programs and lacks most of the HTC supplied programs that ship with the HTC ROM. After several days trying to essentially get the AT&T ROM to look like the HTC ROM, I gave up and flashed a cooked ROM. It sucks that I had to go through all of this trouble to get the phone set up as I liked it. I feel sorry for people who aren't up to flashing a ROM, because the AT&T ROM is truely an abomination of marketing gack. More than 50% of the programs in the standard custom install are trial version that require you to spend more money for full functionality.
Anyway, I am a bit jaded. Considering I skipped a generation (never had an 8525) I had high expectations that this would be far and away better then my 8125. It is in some respects, but so far I think it has not been worth the effort and cost. Since I had an offboard GPS solution for the 8125, about the only thing that is better on the Tilt is the Bluetooth Stereo and compatibitly with WM6 programs. It's not even that much smaller.
Before you get the 8925/Tilt - screen protector, case, large microSD (they sell up to 8gb now).
As people are saying here, you may want to do the At&t bloatware removal trick. We have 2 Tilts in the house: 1 with, 1 without bloatware. I have the bloatware, and will do the removal trick next time I need to hard boot. Not a single thing on there I need, that I can't find on Xda. The bloatware takes up about 20mb of space! The other Tilt is running great sans bloatware.
Essential programs to offset some bugginess:
- KaiserTweaks (freeware).
- BandSwitch (free or pay versions) if you have 3G in your area.
- Conduits PocketPlayer 3.5X (sound is much better to me).
Utilities:
- DinarSoft MemMaid (not free), but it has so many functions all in one: It will help with Notifications/Alarms, it is a Registry Editor, you can reformat your microSd card with it (to name a few).
- Chi-Tai Dang BatteryStatus Today Plugin (free or pay versions). Will show battery, memory, card memory, cpu usage, phone minutes/data/texting...
- Spb Mobile Shell (not free).
Programs:
- Microsoft Live Search (freeware).
- ReenSoft PiePlus (not free).
Hi guys,
My dad's handed me his Vario III / (Kaiser 120) to use.
I did a reset using the option in 'SETTINGS' to reset it and lose all date. Now, when I start it up, it looks like new and the time/date has to be set. All my dad's contacts have gone. Cool. - 1. Was this a Hard-Reset ?
I went to something like SETTINGS > INFO and got this:
Radio Vers 1.70.18.02
ROM DATE 9/01/08
ROM Vers. 3.31.110.3 WWE
Build 19212.1.03
When I start it up, it says Windows Mobile v6.1
A couple years ago, I loaded tomtom navigator on it for my dad. It was really good with the internal gps.
Anyway, now that I have the phone, I'd like to install tomtom navigator on it, use the camera (maybe 10 photos a week) and upload pics to my PC, and browse the internet (email, twitter etc.) from time to time. Also, I'd use the handset to connect via bluetooth to my laptop so I can use it for internet (in emergencies, as it is kinda slow). I also text (3-5 texts a day)
I also downloaded an app called Shazam.cab from a site called mobilism, which I would love to use as I have seen it on my lucky friend's iPhone and the app is awesome!
2. Apart from the usb cable, and active sync on my pc, do i need anything else to install shazam on my phone/micro sd card?
3. I assume a ROM means operating system? Like windows xp, 7 etc.
I see that people are putting new ROMs on their phone. My phone has
Storage Free Space: 121MB and Programs Free 55MB. There isn't a lot of 'bloatware' hogging up resources on there, as far as i can see.
4. Do I need to install a custom ROM now that you know my uses (in blue font above) for the phone? / do I need to flash it? I.e. will a new ROM/flash make my life a lot easier? Better to convert to android system? Will I need to do any of these things to install shazam?
I was goin to do this on the weekend so I can use other sims in my phone:
forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=334679
fingers crossed it goes ok.
Can you please help?
Thank you
Sonny
ps. I may need to ask a couple more questions after this. Once again thank you for your help. If anyone needs advice on cameras, please let me know as I am a regular contributor to a photography forum.
1. Yes, it was HARD-Reset (removes all settings, contacts, messages, ...). It doesn't do anything to the MicroSD card.
2. I don't know anything about that. Sorry!
3. Yes, ROM means operating system. There are stock ROMs and modified ROMs. For Kaiser (a.k.a. HTC TyTN II) you'll find only stock Windows Mobile 6.1 ROM and lots of modified WM 6.1 and WM 6.5 ROMs. There's no stock WM 6.5 ROM for Kaiser.
4. Android is not stable enough. Sometimes it crashes, doesn't wake up and so on... All your mentioned things can be done with both WM 6.1 and 6.5, so it's for you to decide what to use. WM 6.1 looks a little bit old and terrible, but it uses less resources than WM 6.5 which looks a little bit... like system that was made to be similar to iPhone OS. Yes, WM 6.5 is more finger-friendly, but the applications grid drives me crazy, it uses more resources (and loves draining the battery)
Thank you very much for taking the time to post. I found it really useful.
I stuck with original HTC ROM with 6.1 and I am loving it. Shazam works wonderfully well. The phone is so damn sharp. And, using 2 apps at once is brilliant.
Does anyone know if I can put more icons/apps on the TODAY SCREEN?
At the moment, I am only allowed to put 6 in the start menu screen, and 1 (tom tom) on the today screen.
My Start menu has: 1 File explorer, 2 organiser (i use the calculator a lot), 3 internet explorer, 4 MS word (for my notes), 5 shazam (use a lot), 6 Resco photo manager (for uploading to FlickR)
I'd like to add 2 more apps (wunder radio + core player) somewhere with quick access.
Any ideas?
Thank you
Try copying applications links (.lnk files) from \Windows\Start Menu\Programs\ to \Windows\Start Menu\
I'm not sure if it's going to work with Windows Mobile 6.1, but it's safe to try
