Dear friends, i hope someone out there can help with my tilt issues:
1: I own a nokia 6680 and recently bought a tilt, transferring my contacts is a nightmare and i only transfered a few, the problem is i have around 400 contacts with about 300 having more than one mobile number when i sent them to my tilt using outlook and activesync or sending them directly from my nokia to my tilt only one mobile number is copied is there a fix for this or a program that can transfer my phone book?
2:I live in the middle east and i when i try to recharge my phone credit i can't, i get a message box with "Phone" in the title and the word "failed", the way i recharge credit is by typing *122*XXXXXXXXXXXXX# where X is a 13 digit code and then send, but when i press send i get that error instantly. The only way i can recharge is if i call 122 and talk with a machine and enter my code. I have an ATT Tilt with original ROM without ATT bloatware, My ROM 1.57.502.2, My Radio 1.27.12.11
3: When the phone is in standby it won't accept bluetooth connections even when the bluetooth light is blinking and it won't wake up from standby when i try to send something to it by bluetooth, also it doesn't ring or vibrate when in sleep mode when i receive an sms even though it is enabled to ring and vibrate when a new sms is received.
I hope someone can help with these problems.
My ROM: 1.57.502.2
My Radio: 1.27.12.11
ATT Windows Mobile 6 without bloatware
1. When you sync the nokia to outlook does outlook show more then one number? If not then I think you need to do some google searching in regards to that phone or outlook. If it does copy them over with the extra numbers but won't sync them to the tilt properly I would try outlooks helpfile to see if there is a reason for this. Maybe even try another computer with one contact that has several phone numbers.
No it doesn't show them, I know the reason it's because in my nokia phone when i create a contact the label for his mobile number is "Mobile" when i add new numbers to the same contact I change the label to a custom label so instead of adding his new mobile phone with the label "Mobile" i change it to "Mobile New" or something like that, for some reason outlook or the tilt for that matter can't read custom labels they can only read what they have built in:"Work tel", "Work2 tel", ...etc
So they don't know what to do with the other numbers
export it from the nokia as a .CVS file (I think thats what it's called) and then import to outlook.
sounds like you have work ahead of you.
It's called CSV (coma seperated value) it's a xcel spread sheet format.
As for the phone not waking up, that is probablt because of a well known sleep bug. Either upgrade to the newer AT&T rom, upgrade to one of the better ROM's here, or get KaiserTweak & use the device Wakeup fix.

Hi there
I've been having issues with SMS on WM6 - the OS issue is the only common thread between the two devices I have had trouble on.
It all started after I upgraded my JASJAM to WM6 using some of the cooked roms on this forum. Short Messaging would work for a while, and suddenly go on the blink with all messages you try to send remaining in the Outbox. You also dont RECEIVE SMSs. WHen I checked with the operator, they confirmed that messages are being recorded as 'delivered' on their system.
Funnily, I would start receiving SMSs every time I changed a ROM (and I tried out different WM6 ROMs for Tytn) before it went on the blink again. The problem also occurred across multiple networks when I roamed, so it wasnt network-specific.
The issue was not brought up at the Forum as I was planning to upgrade to Tytn II as soon as it came out. And so I did (upgrade, I mean) last week when the device was released in Dubai.
Surprise, surprise - I still have the SMS issue. I was able to send & receive SMSs for a while, and it went on the blink again after I received 2 or 3 replies.
I'm now convinced that this has something to do with the receipt of Short Messages, but would like to check if any of you have had the same issue.
For the record, I have tried the following to try and solve the issue:
1. Soft reset.
2. Deleting the Inbox folders on my storage card.
3. Turning Push Mail off (I assumed it has something to do with the two messaging streams being on all the time).
4. Clearing all SMS folders of their contents.
5. Turning "Delivery Notification" and "Use Unicode Messaging" options ON and OFF, together and separately.
6. Turning my SMS signature on and off.
In short - I've done everything short of a hard reset. I know the damn thing will work for a while if I hard-reset, but I cannot bring myself to redo all the customizations I have carried out on the new device, particularly the GPS software installation.
HELP!
Just a thought - did you try replacing the SIM card you are using?

Its not network or SIM card specific - I have had the same problem with about 6 different SIMs (I travel a lot).
BUZZ!!!
Any ideas, guys?
Are we really talking about a jasjam?
That's not a TyTN II / Kaiser, is it?

We're talking about the Tytn II / Kaiser / P4550.
I mentioned JASJAM because I had the same issue when I upgraded to WM6 on my Jasjam.
i'm not being able to send sms with the default program... looking for an alternative to try
edit: installed sms threader for wm6.... that seemed to help, i was able to receive text from skype and from myself... of course the text i was originally trying to send still won't go...
I was finally able to send the sms to the contact I could not connect to before. instead of texting from inside of "messaging" and adding a contact as a recipient, I selected the "send text message" option in the contacts area. oh, the reason I think the sms threader helped pertains to the test sms I sent through skype being received directly afterward. there was a twenty minute gap between send and receive.... it could all just be coincidence.... and works when it feels like....
Figured out the issue - since the problem occurred on my Hermes after I upgraded to WM6 and continued on my TytnII I assumed it had to do with some of my add-on software not being WM6 compatible.
True enough it was a vcard application I have been using for about 3 years now across multiple PPC Phone devices that was causing the issue. Removed the software, reset and my problems have disappeared.
Now I need a stable, light vcard application that I can trigger from contacts. Suggestions, anyone?
well, i think the format i have the number i'm trying to text to is saved incorrectly.... what format works for people country to country?
i'm trying to reply to a norwegian text, and it never goes through. i know can receive them no problem... there is no issue for sending or receiving texts within US... did not have this problem under WM5...
I'm pulling my hair out here. I unlocked my Tilt today and loaded the Kaiser ROM on my phone. Afterwards I loaded the default MMS cab file. I'm successfully using Goodlink, Slingplayer, Exchange synching, PIE, etc. Everything works except SMS messages. When I send a test message from my Tilt to my blackberry I never receive it and visa versa. I do get the message that the message was sent successfully. I tried sending a text message from Outlook to my [email protected] and I get an undeliverable message telling me that [email protected] has restricted SMS email. I am however able to use Outlook to send text messages to my blackberry phone. Both on ATT/Cingular's network. Any suggestions would be appreciated, I'm pulling my hair out(or what's left of it) on this one!
well SMS is over the GPS network meaning if your phone works as in making calls your SMS should be working also. Call AT-T and tell them your SMS is not working just don't tell them that you flashed the HTC rom to your Tilt sounds like something on there end.
I had the same problem. It turned out that the ATT rep I bought the phone from signed me up for Blackberry Connect with no text messages, rather than the PDA plan, so I could do everything (even AIM, which used the SMS anyway...) except text. Maybe this is the case with you as well? If so a call to AT&T should fix that (and save 4 dollars a month?).
Unless, of course, the guy was totally BSing, as they tend to do.
Move to Kaiser from Kaiser Upgrading

18 July WM v6.1 Messaging SMS \ MMS contingency, phone service is five bar signal , select Send and messaging process displays “Your text message cannot be sent”.
Call HTC technical support and select troubleshooting. Explain that yesterday Edyta suggested visit HTC e-member site for Radio ROM update, there is no Radio ROM update for TyTN II.
Raes answers, I explained contingency, Raes suggested that I call telephone provider I said that that the phone is HTC supplied SIM unlocked and that I have tried three SIM cards and the SMS contingency is the same.

18 July 2008 Installed received today new SIM card supplied by O2 SIM serial no. 0064 4188 36619 marked www.02.co.uk/blueroom 3G
Installed new SIM card, restart TyTN II, Check Phone: text messages service centre: number and it is the same +44 7802 2092035.
Select Messaging: select SMS; select a failed SMS text message, select Send, dialogue box displays message sent.
Call HTC technical support, advise Mathew that contingency resolution here is that SIM cards supplied pre 3G not liked by TyTN II.
I received this message once when sending an SMS from an area where texting worked but voice/data did not. In my case, all I had to do was tap "Tap here to retry", and it worked.
Just to eliminate any 3G issues, you may want to force the phone onto Edge and try again.
I get this sometimes, usually right when I'm getting a message from someone else. I guess it's kind of a collision thing.
Anyway, just tapping "click here to retry" works but sometimes it does take three or four times to go through.
Sorry this isn't more help.

do you have your messages on threaded mode or normal mode
if its on normal (hacked by registry or other tools) this could be the problem because i experienced the same issue when i shifted (temp) to wm6.1
best wishes,

Definitely a well written post (I'll be taking que's from that from now)! Seems my problem is low signal strength, incoming sms's jammed (seriously, how stupid is that??), *and* wm6.1 I'm about to switch over to a 6.5 device, so we'll see if 6.5 is any better than 6.1.
*edit*
I have noticed that the whole messaging system locks up sometimes if I can't send out an sms, and a reboot will fix it with a rush of incoming messages that should have happened when i was trying to send out one. Is this common?
Dear developers and experienced people,
I have got a problem with the T-Mobile MDA Compact IV. When switched on, the phone always tries to send a registration SMS to the number 72059. With a non-T-Mobile SIM this results in an error status message. I don't know, whether this SMS attempt costs me money.
Is there any possibility (via registry etc.) to prevent the phone from sending this SMS WITHOUT flashing a new, unbranded ROM?
I wonder if noone else has noticed this already...
Thank you!
I havent' had this at all and i have an MDA C4, is this with a new ROM install or anything?

I just tested with a non German SIM, I don't get the error with that. I guess the error (short number not available) is an O2-specific error message, other providers don't react at all. But I guess the phone nevertheless attempts to call/message this T-Mobile internal number.
Edit: no new ROM, MDA just out of the box.
Maybe the phone does not try to send an SMS to the MyFaves number, but it is some kind of SIM Toolkit function?
Perhaps this behaviour would stop if I let it connect once with a T-Mobile SIM?
I have news again about this topic. The number this message is sent to can be found in the registry key
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\HTC\My5\SMSC]
"SendNumber"="72059"
If I change this number to an empty value or if I delete the whole My5 tree from the registry, I don't get these errors anymore. Nevertheless I don't know whether for example in roaming I am billed for SMS attempts to an empty number.
Could anyone find out whether MyFaves fully stops sending messages if these keys are deleted or if it only sends messages to empty numbers in this case?
I did a lot of testing during the last few days. My results were kind of disturbing:
When in a home network, the MDA sends a silent SMS to the MyFaves number. Of course this number does not exist in most networks, but you also do not get an error message about it.
But when used in roaming, these SMS are charged. So everytime you switch on your mobile phone, you are charged a SMS from the foreign roaming network, even if the message has no valid target.
The registry key with the number can be changed, so I changed it to my own number. The resulting SMS did not show any meaningful plain text, but some binary looking glyphs instead. Since the message has got oversize, I was actually charged for 2 SMS!
The only way to circumvent this behaviour is to delete (or rename) the My5 tree from the registry. When switched on, the phone adds the tree again, but with empty values. Since there is no number to send to, the SMS is suppressed and does not cost any money in roaming.
Conclusion:
This is not a good behaviour for a SIM lock free phone. If someone does not know this, he/she has a bill of about 15 Euro/month just for switching the phone on every day. Since the phone does this quietly, most people would complain with their provider rather than finding the phone guilty.
So I called AT&T because my phone was dropping phone calls every time it did a tower switch, Id have to call people back 3-4 times within an hour of talking.
So they sent me a refurb. It had windows 6.1 (which Im still not happy about).
When I try to send email with an attachment on my yahoo account it will just sit there at the attach screen saying its loading, I have left it there for a half hour b4. So I decided fine you POS, Ill put the attachment on the phone and send it thru email on the phone. After it sits for like 5 mins, error pops up.
"Messages cannot be downloaded. Please check your connection and email settings, then try again." something like that. Funny thing is it receives the email just fine. So I called the person I sent the email to and they said they received the email. So I called up ATT again told them it still wont send it on my pc and i still get the "Messages cannot be downloaded" error. So they send me another refurb. Same thing with that one, called again and demanded a brand new one, so now Im on #3 brand new out of the box with new batt, data cable, etc. Same thing on my pc, just sits there at the attach screen saying it uploading it.
Oh yea not to mention, when the screen is black(suspend mode), when i push the power button to wake it up, the screen glimpes on then back off, so i have to push the button 2x to get it to wake up. I told ATT i think the email problem is their network and the screen glimps is windows 6.1, they told me its not likely and they could offer me a palm treo 750, I was like well I bought an HTC for a reason, not a palm. My old phone worked fine with 6.0.
gotta love microsofts crappy software.... Any thoughts?
O yea im a truck driver and have had this problem on all connections, HSDPA, 3G, Edge, and GPRS. different cities too.
Microsoft just released a patch to fix possible email corruption -- do some googling and you'll find it
installed the new email hot fix off of microshits website, now it pops up a new error message. "Cannot connect to the incoming mail server. Be certain that your login information is correct, then try again to send and receive mail."
wont send is off my pc either just sits there at the attach screen.
have a new problem also, when i activesync to my pc a administrator window pops open, really getting annoyed with this new windows
You can remove the official patch and try the unofficial patch from here
http://www.tracyandmatt.co.uk/blogs/index.php/2008/10/15/windows-mobile-smtp-fix
ok so i just remove the hotfix that i just got from microsoft and install the cab?
i dont have to do the registry changing if I download that cab, right?

Are you letting the phone configure your email automatically,...if so dont...you configure with the right settings...i use to have that problem and now i do not...it was something with yahoo using imap versus pop3....also i am assuming you do pay for your yahoo email account right?
I downloaded the cab and now it works on the phone but still freezed at the attach screen on my pc. I have a free yahoo account, any settings i need to change for it? I was thinking of starting a Hotmail account hoping it will mango with the new windows better.
any thoughts?
