Hi All,
Please could people add a quick post for the deals/upgrades they got through T-mobile (UK).
I have the £16 half-price for life Web'n'Walk 18 month that expired in June.
T-mobile offered £220 for phone and keep existing tariff or £80 for phone and Flex 35- Web'n'Walk for £37.50 for 12months. The T-mobile guy said he would ring back Friday as the new customer deals were not available yet, but he would be able to offer the same - I must say he was really trying to plug Web'N'Walk Plus!! I take the view £220 is cheaper than a SIM free £450?
Cheers Ody
they have to give you a subsidised price over the sim free price really dont they...
im on flext 35 with WnW and a 25% discount and got the vario III for £80 (they originally said £100 but did a "trade up?"
it'll eventually be a free upgrade as all phones are when they've been out for a while.
funnily enough Tmob wanted £240 for the varioII when my upgrade came around (according to the options on My Tmobile) which i thought was rip off-tastic!
I have two business lines with T-Mobile both on the Flext25 plan. I got two phones for free (one per line) on an 18 month contract. Also, both Flext25 plans benefit from a lifetime 25% discount. I don't have W&W though am thinking of it but often use all the Flext25 allowance and often spend a bit more (but not enough for the next Flext upgrade).
Got both of my phones upgraded for free on Flext25+W&W. Business contract though.
I got a free upgrade (getting it delivered tommorow morning). I am on Flex35 web n walk however only pay £15 / month rental as my mate works for T-Mobile. Only thing is I am tied to an 18 month contract which doesnt bother me as I am pleased with the service. I am so happy I never purchased that stooopid iPhone last week.
Before i got my Vario III i had a Vario I on T-Mobile and i was on a Flext 25 + WnW and i never paid above the monthly tarrif cost. I got an upgrade to the Vario III on a Flext 25 + WnW Plus tarrif and the hamdset was free! I was amazed so i said yes please straight away!

Wow that sounds like a really good deal.
I've been waiting for the Vario III for a long time now. I'm currently on Flex 35 with WNW and hardly ever use all my minutes.
They have only offered me the same as the OP, basically £100 upgrade even on 18 month contract.
How did you manage to get your handset free? Becausethere are no other providers at the moment with this phone, im finding it hard to negotiate a better deal.

I'm on the same tariff and was offered the same price 4 times. I'm waiting until it's on the website... I've been told it should come down in price then
Leaving Orange so new customer to T-Mobile with no history, paid £139 for Vario III on a Flext 25 + WnW Plus
Paul
I got a new contract with TMobile as a new customer. I paid £59.95 for the phone on an 18month contract Flext-35 Web n' Walk plus (£42.50/month). I ordered over the phone and managed to get the 'web-exclusive' free weekend calls deal as well.
I was originally with o2 (7years) and they offered me £100 credit and a £15/month 12-month contract (1500 off peak calls and 500 texts). Adding onto that the price of an unlocked tytn2 and o2 data-bolton.
Although tmobile and the cost of staying with o2 were roughly the same price over 18months I got far more for my buck with tmobile.

Yeah, same here - I was told to wait until they can match the web.
I've got to admit it's very annoying how they offer better deals to entice 'new' customers... I won't feel happy until I get a better deal than the £100 (even considering I was willinging to upgrade to WNW+ also.)
It seems even some of the guys on flex £25 can get the phone at £80
quetion is when the **** witht this be -m the ''being able to match the web'' thing?
I turned down WnW+ flext 25 & handset for £80 for this stupid wait!!!!
GGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR
I've just been on the phone to T-Mobile and got the following prices:
Flext 25 £209.99 180 minutes 12 Months
Flext 20 £169.99 ??? minutes 18 Months
Flext 25 £149.99 300 minutes 18 Months
All of these were Flext with Web'n'Walk standard, as a new customer.
Could I do better? The Flext 20 looks like the best deal at the moment...
yeah wait till the web deals come out.... thats what t mob are telling us all...
Reading on this forum I seen some people have this cheaper. What have they offered for Flex 30 and WNW+ ? (bearing in mind there is a £5 discount if thats still on, for new customers)
@ Digimortal
I am on a business account so maybe they offered me the handset with no upgrade price because of that? I don't know mut i was phone teh guy a few times asking laods of questions so h eknew i was interested i kept umming and ahhh ing and i was telling him that i wanted it with a black case but t-mobile only do it in silver so i kept asking questions and stuff and he said to me we can do you the handset for free. so i said yes straight away!!!
Personally, I would like to go for the Flext20 ie £20 then add the Web'n'Walk Plus for a further £12.5 = £32.5 then ask for the £5 discount, so paying £27.5 per month (for 12 or 18 months) and get the phone for under £100 - The guy I talked to was Stuart, who said he would ring me back on Friday?? and hopefully be able to tell me what the new customer deals would be that he could match...
the website is now advertising 25% of flext tarrifs. so pissed i baught mine 2 3 days a go. aw well i got my phone.

Looking at it its 'upto 25%' off and only on selected tarifs. The tariff I got is still the same price.

I hate it when that happens. You could always t-mobile CS on 150 and threaten to return the phone under the 14 day money back guarantee unless they honour the reduced price for your contract. They will probably do it to avoid the hassle and paperwork!
At worst if they don't go for it, send it back, cancel the contract and start a new one at the new 25% off price - you know it makes sense!!
Dolphin 35, an 18 month contract, £35 a month for 18 months with the option of 5 months free. That brings the total cost to £455, only £55 more than the Sim free cost of the phone and you get unlimited web browsing and unlimited texts and 600 minutes.
Orange may have a poor reputation, but that deal is unbelievably good.
See here: http://www.mobiles.co.uk/orange-htc-touch-diamond.html#MobilePhoneTariffs
Edit: My mistake, there's no unlimited data with that deal. It looks like you have to buy through orange for unlimited data which comes to a total of £540, £90 quid more. Still not bad though.
The standard warning applies with the above offers and all like it. You are likely to not get that money due to obscure overcomplicated rules on redeeming the cashback, normally involving goats, virgins, and lunar eclipses.
It's been scientifically proven that people too evil to be a seal-clubber or second-hand car salesman go on to run discount phone websites.
The original deal direct from Orange is still good though. In fact, it's the one I signed up for earlier.
Or you could get all that and a free ipod or projector or whatever you want, done it with my last phone and an xbox 360 and it all worked fine.

You pay more though, the original deal i quote was £455, to get a 'free' Xbox Arcade it would cost £720. That's £265 more for a console thats worth £150 - So you're wasting £115! Hardly free ey?
i just got a upgrade
they have given me 650 cross network
unlimited landline calls
unlimited texts
"unlimited" data
18 month contract...which i don't mind.... £30
this was direct from orange....no funny middle men
Free direct from orange on £30 pm
Just bought mine on upgrade, direct from orange for £30 pm 600mins + unlimited text and web, phone was free!
I suspect you can get it for free on the £25pm but I wanted unlimited web.

Oranges' deals are not that good at all.
First of all 18 month contracts for any WM Device enthusist are terrible. You want to try the new forthcoming WM7 HTC devices, you will want a 12 month deal.
Secondly Orange's unlimited data isnt unlimited. Its a 500MB fair use policy (too little) that - according to their website (and there has been some confusion about this) is limited to 2 months. After 2 months, you pay for the data package.
You need to check if these 3rd party dealers are giving the unlimited mobile data. I just ordered with M2YD on a Dolphin 35 18 month contract, free handset and this DOES include the unlimited mobile browing (confirmed with M2YD and Orange CS on the phone). £35 per month with £210 back on redemption and £55 cashback with quidco. This means my total cost for the 18months will be £365
Me too
I've ordered from m2yd.
Dolphin 35 .... £210 cashback, unlimited internet and texts. £55 back from www.quidco.com
In all, over 18 months it will cost me £20.28 per month
Best deal currently available over 18 months ... I think I've searched them all!

The contract may be 18 months but i was simply looking at the total cost. As in, if a phone comes out in 12 months that you want, buy that also. There's nothing to stop you running two contracts concurrently. If you've seen a better deal from another network, post it, just because it's an 18 month deal doesn't make it bad.
Also, show me a network that does unlimited data that doesn't have a fair usage policy? Hell, every ISP has one, why wouldn't a phone network who has to send data over a massive infrastructure of cell towers
Btw, im not an Orange fan, im a Tmobile fan, no bias here.
I don't worry about the 18 months thing. For heavily subsidied expensive phones, it often works out that the TCO over 18 months is just a few more £ than over 12 months.
Way back when I got my Wizard with Vodafone, the 18 month contract was about £20 more than with a 12 month contract. I still got my Vario II 12 months later, but then had a spare contract phone for 6 months for £20.
As for the whole "unlimited" thing, it's not just in regards to data, they also wrap "unlimite texts" etc. in similar weasel words. I'm surprised that they're all allowed to get away with it still. It's pure false advertising, and they all do it.

sounds like bias to me.
At least T Mobile offer 1GB fair use. 500MB is way too limited.
Also with T's web n walk plus, you get free GLOBAL T Mobile hotspot access.
Also T have a brilliant HSDPA network. How extensive is Oranges?
Also with orange - you seen that cost to non orange mobiles outside of your air time?
As for contract length.. let me put it this way..
12 months ago I bought a brand new HTC Touch.
Slightly OT, but does the Orange unlimited internet allow for using the phone as a modem? Is it unlimited internet or unlimited data?
Likewise does it allow for VOIP?
I can see how Opera will quickly eat into the data instead of pocket IE and its cut down pages
Back on topic, Orange allow a downgrade to the next lower tariff after 9(?) months -so a bit more saving. Not sure if this impacts on the cashback offer though

The unlimited package on orange does not allow tethering or VOIP...
Have done quite a bit of VOIP over 3G with Skype using an Orange 250mb data plan with my old Tytn 2 and never got charged for it, when I check my usage all it shows is I used a few megs, done that for months
Not tried tethering though as I have no need to.
They may say we don't allow you to do it but doesn't mean they banned it
Sorry, whats tethering?

Recieved my orange UK diamond!!
Wooo!
I've got my diamond today through the m2yd and quidco cashback offer.
There's no discernable customisation to the interface and a very discreet orange badge on the rear cover.
Here are some unboxing pics:

Also to add, it is sim-locked.
Got mine too!
Don't forget, first thing to do is look right at the bottom of the box and get the screen protector, and fit this before doing anything else

To all of you jumping into bed with Orange for the HTC diamond.. doesnt the 18 month contract bother you?
Slightly, but it's worth it as I'm effectively paying 20 pounds a month with the rebates giving a total of £365 for the phone, 600 mins, unlimited texts and 500mb over 18 months. That's a great deal.
It's only a problem if you want to buy a new phone every year and want to keep your phone number.
I was on an 18 month contract with T-Mobile previously, so it's no different. I can't really justify spending more just to be able to upgrade my handset earlier. (In fact, it was pretty hard to talk myself into getting a Diamond rather than just keeping my TyTn and going for the cheap tariff T-Mobile offered me when I asked for my PAC code!)
There is a motive for me asking this.. i'll tell you why.
I signed up for a 12 month Combi 35 + web and walk T mobile contract. That gets me 500 mins, 350 txts and unlimited net for £42.50 a month.
T mobile have said that if I change my contract to 18 months, I can get 700 mins, unlimited texts, unlimited net (web n walk) and combi 30 price promise for £30 a month.
Im still scratching my head - which should I go for? Reduced amount per month or freedom 6 months earlier?
Not at all. £20pm for a contract with unlimited browsing...
...and I twisted there arm to also chuck in free home broadband, how can I possibly go wrong with that?
Granted the broadband is not the quickest, but plenty fast enough for home use.
go for it, it will make tmo happy and will make you happy (in the wallet).
especially so as i can't forsee any major releases far superior to the diamond within the next 12 months. i'm not sure when winmo 7 will be released though.

Think about it this way - you pay around £500 for the contact regardless of whether it's 12 or 18 months, so go for the 18-month contract.
If you were really desperate to upgrade after 12 months, you could just take out a second contract, and it wouldn't cost you any more.

allow me to brag. in my sunny and "peaceful" country the goverment did find the time to oblige by low all 3 tlf companies to make it possible for the consumer to move from one another with the same prefix+number. now the contracts are for a max 18 month and i can squeeze to even less by threaten that i'll change my supplier. the change can be done on the spot and is effective in minutes! if there is a fee for braking the contract the new supplier is sometimes (sales)offering to pay it for you if you'll only sign with his comp.

What he's getting at is that the majority of what you pay for in your phone contract isn't for the minutes/texts/whatever, it's the phone itself.
For example, a phone that's £150 with a a 12months x £30/month contract will be given away free on an 18months x £30/month contract.
The 12 months contract will cost you (12x30)+150= £510 over the life of the contract.
The 18 months contract will cost you (18x30)= £540 over the life of the contract.
The last half year of the 18 month contract is effectively costing you £30. Get a new phone after 12 months, you're £30 out of pocket compared to the 12 month contract. From the 13th month onwards, you're actually better off.
So is the general concensus that I should take the 18 month deal?
18 months all the way... If you are really so fed up with your device after 12 months, sim unlock it and sell it on ebay. Buy a sim free new device, then six months later either flog the simfree on ebay when you get an upgrade, or flog the pgrade if you like your sim free device.
Net result, very cheap deals on airtime etc.

Sorry - not being very clear.
If you take the 18 month contract, chuck your phone in the bin after 12 months, it's cost you £360 so far, plus you'll have another £180 to pay over the remaining 6 months - total £540. The 12 month contract would have cost you £510, saving just £30 - i.e. there's not much difference.
However, with the 18 month contract, if you do decide there's nothing you want to upgrade to in 12 months time and you don't mind hanging on, it's a LOT cheaper than the 12 month contract.

Didn't think you got the unlimited browsing on the 12month-ers with Orange
I was like you when i got my XDA Orbit (Artemis). I'm glad i did. I still love my Orbit even though i just got the Diamond on 18months direct from Orange.
£30 over 18months = £540. The Diamond to buy is £400+ no to mention the £15 or £20 credit each month. so £540 + £360 = £900!
So to buy the Diamond and go PAYG isn't by any way cheaper than 'Contracting' it.
I'd defo go for the 18month deal. If you love you phone and like customising it....go for it!
There are loadsa ROMs for the Artemis and no doubt they will come out for the Diamond in time. Its like having a new phone when you flash a new ROM anyways!
GO FOR IT! Unlimited texts...unlimited web browsing?? Why the hell not! :-D
Apologies if this sounds a bit spammy but it is a cool deal for the UK. Log on to Quidco (cashback site) and you can order a diamond very cheap untii the 24th july, Mine will hopefully arrive tomorrow, so a restless night for me. To add to the £175 cashback you get 11 months half price and I think, though it isn't clear on the website unlimited data: http://www.quidco.com/mobiles-utilities/phones-4u/
Again sorry for spammy looking thread, I am just so excited to be getting a diamond for what averages less than £18 pm, Orange Dolphin 35. Farewell beloved artemis.
Is there anything as well as the £175? because Mobiles2yourdoor give £210 in cashback on top of quidco. Its not in one lump sum, but it makes it work out at £20/month too.
How did you work out £20 with only £175 cashback? on an 18m contract thats a lot more than £18/month...
£18.47p/m over 18 months.
Sorry I think I may have slightly miscalculated a little (god bless my "O" level maths), on reflection, 11 months half price= 11 x £17.75=£192.5, + 9 months @ £35 =£192.5+£315= £507, -£175(cashback)= £332.5. £332.5/18= £18.47p/m. I hope I got that right because my diamond should come in the morning and at the moment I've been paying £20+ p/m for a sim only deal on my orbit from O2 with a lot less mins and less texts and NO DATA! But actually I just don't care as long as I get a diamond (lust, lust). I guess I am a bit of a mug!
Dolphin 35 = £35p/m, orange website says unlimited web browsing on that + 600 mins any network, unlimited landline + more texts p/m than I use in a year. I hate trying to figure out a good deal, I know I'm paying far too much for my ****ty talktalk broadband as well! wtf.
I went with m2yd via quidco - Dolphin £35 /pm, £55 quidco cashback plus £210 cashback over 18 months - this worked out at £20.28/m
Your deal is only £19.26 cheaper over 18 months
And yet you get £175 cashback from quidco (£125 more than me) and your p4u cashback is £17.50 less than me - so in theory you should be £107.50 better off - so where has the other £88.24 gone?

You are saying 11 months + 9 months. It will actually just be 11 months + 7 months surely.
Therefore: 192.5 + 245 = 437.50.
This then means: 337.50 - 175 = 262.50.
That is £14.58 a month.
That is cheap, but P4U can be dodgy. Like my first Diamond was faulty, Orange replaced it the very next day. (I phoned them at 5.30pm, phone was in my hands at 10am the next day). I doubt P4U would give the same service. Just a warning. Plus, when I enquired about buying through P4U, the guy on the phone said I would only receive 250MB a month, not 500MB. Might be worth looking into while you are still in cancellation period.
Oh, and should probably warn you, I've heard getting your cashback from both P4U and M2YD can be hell. Send everything recorded or special delivery, and take a copy of everything you send. Phone them to confirm receipt etc. Keep on top of it basically. If I remember correctly, if you miss one 'rebate', all future ones are lost too?
Personally I think the best deal was over the weekend just gone. £150 Quidco from Orange (which was a limited offer), and then Dolphin 35 at £30 a month. Worked out at about £21 a month.
I don't think the quidco offer of £175 has any additional half price line rental cashback, so in effect its just 35*18= 630 - 175 =566/18 = £25.27/month.
Not quite as good as mobiles 2 your door but no need to bother with cashback claims I guess. Its still pretty good, when the N95 was released it was never as heavily subsidised as the diamond is at the moment.
I did wonder if that would actually be the case, as £15 seemed very cheap. That is only £270 total for 18 months! I think your figure of £25 is accurate. Having just gone through Quidco and proceeded through to the checkout on P4U it seems that the initial £175 is all you would get. Personally I am kicking myself for ordering 2 days before Orange's weekend offer came online. Lost £100 by being so keen to get a Diamond. Lesson learned.
To reiterate, it looks like £25 a month, with possibly less or no data included, and a poorer service perhaps. Might be worth reconsidering your purchase.
remember you have distance selling or 'cooling off' as some like to call it since you ordered online. So if you don't like those numbers you can cancel and return it. You'll probably need to pay for postage tho (ONLY if they stated that when you purchased, if they didn't you don't have to pay anything, and actually have 3 months to send it back lol)
Immediately after ordering online I phoned P4U and the "kind" person told me it was 11 months half price as well. I guess she was unaware of the quidco deal. And is 11+9 not 18 lol. I hope the calculator on the diamond has an idiot button for me to press, My data info is from the orange website: http://shop.orange.co.uk/shop/paymonthly ,But maybe I will try and haggle with orange later. Just gimme da phone!
OK, I got the diamond Wow. I phoned Orange (yuk, almost wrote iphone, **** I did), the unlimited data is correct, so I called P4U and there is definitely no 11 months half price, sorry if I misled anyone. The bottom line is £25 p/m, I'm still happy with the deal so far, I think my partner will get one too. Quidco has always worked for us in the past with things like car insurance and home insurance, so I'm fairly confident they will honour the £175 cashback.
When I left Orange i was at least offerd a free Touch Diamond and an Okay 35 quid a month connection with there so called unlimited data package...
But yesterday we moved my mums phone...
The retentions guy basically wanted us to pay 40 quid a month for the contract. And wanted us to pay 150 quid for the phone...
Oh and Unlimited is now 250mb FUP... And he was even being very dodgy as im sure it was 500mb... he simply said "it depends on who you talk to"
I was a bit WTF by his attitude.
His attitude was not friendly by any means if anything it was aggressive insulting and uncaring.
I just found it really odd also that one week i get offerd a free phone a couple of weeks later they want 150 quid for it. Even with the contract. As if being a returning customer means nothing to them...
Anyone else had really bad experiences with them?
Oh and on that day we went to a Tmobile shop and got my mum a Compact IV Just waiting for the pack code to arrive to transfer the number.
In my experience;
Never take the first offer. Take note of all they have to offer, look at other prociders' contracts and then call back. You can usually negotiate something.
Always make sure you get through to Retensions, not Upgrades. Same handset, same contracts, different prices.
Prices do depends on how many 'credits' you rack up during the contract. If you pay minimum line rental and never go over minutes, you don't get much leverage on new phones/contracts.
Personally, I've always gone for 12 month contracts as I can't stand the thought of having one phone for more than a year!
I was on Orange, switched to O2, got the £35/month deal.
No more callers getting put through to my voicemail instead of my phone!
No need to go through Orange to do an upgrade, just visit one of the third party providers (car phone warehouse, Phones4U etc.) and they will upgrade you with a better deal than Orange will offer direct.
I got a free Diamond on my existing Dolphin £25 contract. Just walked into Phones4U and they offered to upgrade with no additional cost. In less than half an hour I had a new phone without having to change contract or number.
Orange!!
I was on contract with Orange for 10 years.... and when I told them I was leaving 'cos £8 a month was ridiculous for 30MB of data, some guy in an Indian call centre just said OK... 'OK'!!! TEN YEARS!
I've moved to vodafone... £30 a month, free Touch Diamond, 250 mins anytime, 150 texts, 500MB data... and polite call centre staff I can actually understand and who know what they're talking about!
I wouldn't touch Orange again if they offered me for free, every new device HTC release in the future! Good bye forever
