Ok I successfully installed TT6 on my Kaiser, which currently runs dutty 3/8 rom and niki radio. I have Kaiser Tweak installed as well. Everytime I open TomTom it wants to connect to GPRS. From my previous experience when GPRS is transferring data it uses MB's, which I am charged for because i do not have any data plan, nor do I want one because I am usually in hotspots. In addition, I have quick gps, gps test, and gps tool, applications installed on my device.
I was able to get a connection yesterday without using GPRS. For some reason I clicked on Traffic Updates in the configuration. Now everytime i connect to TT6 it opens the GPRS connection. When I hit cancel with GPRS I cannot establish a GPS signal.
Will I be charged for GPRS connection if data is transferred if so, how do i use my TT6 application to avoid any service fees or any transfers that will costs me money.
edit1: I also tried disabling my traffic updates however no success
edit2: i have my own software with all maps. I did not dl any of the tomtom6 software featured in this forum so this issue may be different. In addition, i searched this similar problem with confusing results.
Did you try disabling traffic updates? That is what is connecting...
yes i did...
this shouldn't be a difficult thing to answer for those who don't use any type of data connection (medianet, gprs, 3g etc) and use gps.
go into tomtom plus services and disable wireless data, if that doesnt work, and since you are a legal user of tomtom, then why dont you contact their tech support, that's what they are there for

You can you the program NoData http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=1325870&postcount=7 to disable GPRS traffic.
thanks i'll look into the "no data" application.
hmmm but i can do the same thing with kaiser tweak, however tomtom cannot establish a signal.
Another thing to check is taht A-GPS is DISABLED,if not it will try to get GPS fixes via cellsites and download the sat data as well whenever the GPS is activated.
Good Luck

i think u solved the issue. I'll let u know in a few hours but as i can see from bein indoors the gprs 3g connection isn't popping up. Thanks for everyones input. I figured there was an easy solution.
Ok that solved the issue of connecting to the net but now I cannot get a satelite signal anywhere in Boston.
You have to try out couple different things. First off, try a different version of tomtom. Do a search and should pop up with couple diffrernt versions. I can tell you that my version doesn't connect to data at all. Maybe the A-GPS option works, but you're not doing something correctly. There's a tomtom tutorial somewhere. Do a search for that. Verify COM4 or whatever com gps is on. Test out HTC GPS tool to see if you can pick up any satellites. Could possibly be the radio. Many different things you can try out here.

I understand however I have tried everything. It was working correctly previous to when I hit traffic updates. I tested everything and then reinstalled the program onto my device late last night. It previously worked with niki radio and dutty rom on com4 with almost all the bauds. The A-GPS system did not make it work and it also attempted to connect to the internet. When I try to run AGPS now it doesn't connect to the internet even with it enabled in Kaiser Tweak after a soft reset.
TomTom and WM 6.1
I just switched my ROM over to WM 6.1 ... tom tom looks like it is running fine, but the "check for updates" button under advanced features now just returns an error. Any thoughts? I have disabled my cingular proxy, so that should not be the problem.

whatever you do try not to hit traffic updates. It complete f'd up my gps application, gprs, and my medianet is no longer working for what I can see. They are all enabled too, which makes this even more confusing now. Thinking about doing a hard reset cause I have back up of everything on my pc. Just don't want to be bothered with spending hours updating right now.

Yes You are correct and I apologize.
Ok, first I disabled agps and then was not able to get a signal anywhere.
2nd, I removed all TT6 Apps from my phone and TTHome from my PC
3rd, I Removed my SD card and any remaining applications or files that had anything to do with TT6 or the term "navigator" by using the file explorer.
4th, I moved the TT6 cab file to my device and ran it.
5th, I then formatted my SD card from my PC.
6th, Inserted the SD card back into the phone
7th, Moved the Navigator Application from the "Crack" file onto my SD card.
8th, Went into Program Files on my device and deleted the Navigator file that was there.
9th, Moved the Navigator application from the SD card to the navigator file on my device which would be under "program applications". I also moved the US and Canada Maps onto the device.
10th, I reinstalled TTHome onto my PC
11th, Connected Through active sync and set up the TT6 on my device using the appropriate baud and com4.
12th, After installing the updates from TTHome. I again removed TTHome application from my PC. Somehow, only running the updates once will allow the program to work. If I reconnect my device through active sync and TTHome is still installed I will be unable to use the application again on my phone because it will not get a signal if I reupdate.

Hello,
I bought a brand new 'HTC - Kaiser' (precisely a 'HTC - TyTN II' directly from Orange in France), in order to replace my old 'HTC - Hermes'.
First, I was surprised not to see a GPS option in the 'Communication Manager'. As you can switch ON/OFF wifi or bluetooth, you should be able to switch ON/OFF the GPS, isn't it ?
Secondly, I installed Tomtom v6.032 on my PPC, but I could not get any signal at all. I went in the options, and tried with all GPS option devices, with no success.
With 'Built-in GPS receiver' and 'Other NMEA GPS receiver' options, I always have "No valid GPS signal !". Do I have to start GPS somewhere on my PPC before starting TomTom ?
Thirdly, I looked for help on xda-developers.com here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=1735972&postcount=112
I followed his recommendations, I changed:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\GPS Intermediate Driver\Drivers\GPSOnePort]
"CommPort"="COM1:" (instead of: "COM0:")
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\GPS Intermediate Driver\Multiplexer]
"DriverInterface"="COM0:" (instead of "COM4:"
And it after this I could have some signal. But then after shutting down Tomtom and reopen or after a soft reset, it does not work any more, at all ! What happens ? I don't understand.
Why my GPS just not work out of the box ?
Please help ! I switch to the Kaiser for the GPS feature, and it does not work :'(
I tried all my test outside with a clear weather, waiting for about 3 minutes each time.
it should work right out of the box.
for me (i have a tilt) gps is on com4. i use tomtom and you have to make sure the correct com port.
I could be wrong but I believe that in tomtom if you get the message "no valid GPS signal" that actually means every thing is set up correctly. you just need to wait, could take some time. tomtom starts the gps itself. watch the leds on the phone. when GPS is on the right LED will flash.
you may want to check out some other programs. tomtom does seem to take a little longer to get a fix in my opinion.
BTW check out my signature, you can use navizon and make some money once you get that gps working
There's no seperate GPS connection. The GPS just uses your data connection. If you can connect to 3G, then your GPS will also work. Try using Google Maps and clicking "Use GPS", leave your phone in one spot for a few minutes and see if you can get some sattelites that way.
As always, someome smarter can correct me if I'm wrong, but this is from my experience.
There is no way to "turn on" gps, programs access it when they need it, and it's off when they don't
Your first fix can take up to 45 minutes, although min eonly took about 5.
If you look in the extracted HTC cabs threads, you can find a program called "HTC GPS tool" Run this and select "clear memory" as the option, and that'll get a fix after a while. after that, After soft resets you should use "cold start", I think...
After this has fgot a fix you can use other programs on the COM4 channel.
Hope this helps
I have had my Tilt for about 2 months. Recently, I took a trip from L.A. to N.Y.C. As soon as I got to NYC, I ran QuickGPS, but was entirely unable to get GPS to work at all during the week I was there (queens, manhattan, roads, etc).
I posted an inquiry about backing up and hard resets. Rather than getting an answer to the question, I was given direction to make sure my GPS really didn't work.
That chain pushed me to GPS Test v1.04 by Chartcross. It is free, and can found on the web and on this forum. In NY I could not get a signal no matter what even running it.
When I landed in LA I ran it again ... it stayed at "Starting Up" for a while, but then miraculously started showing bars.
So --- I recommend that you (1) run Quick GPS, (2) install this program, and (3) let it run and run and run. Also make sure you are in an area where GPS is accessible.
It can take a very long time to get GPS to work on the tilt. Many times, it takes longer to find a signal than the trip you were hoping to TomTom through. Its the nature of the beast.

Yep, like all the others have said leave it fore longer. 3 mins isn't enough time. If after 30-45mins of being left in one place (no moving it around!) with a clear view of the sky for the first time and TomTom is still saying "No valid GPS signal" then start worrying...
Thank for your enthusiasm. I carefully read your post, here is want I discovered:
You mentionned about having a 3G data connection. First I was wondering why do you talked about that: this as nothing to do with GPS. Then I thought I should give it a try. Up to now, I haven't yet put my SIM card in my brand new 'HTC - Kaiser'. I didn't mention it in my 1st post, as I though it could not have a link with my GPS problem. I put the SIM card in the phone, then started Tomtom, I was surprised to see that a 3G data connection was automatically started, and a few seconds later, the GPS worked perfectly.
I can't believe it, I could not have the GPS working because there was no SIM card in my phone !
First I thought that the data connection was for retrieving Tomtom traffic info online, but then I discoved that even with 'HTC - GPS Tool v1.1.1.0', a 3G data connection is started prior to getting my localization.
I read about QuickGPS, and learnt that it is the thing that causes the 3G data connection to start prior to getting my localization.
Why is QuickGPS starting automatically ? Is QuickGPS compulsory for localization ? Can I stop this behavior and have everything running through GPS ?
Chris

GPS and 3G have nothing to do with each other. They are too completely different things.
GPS does not need 3G to function!
Some GPS programs (like google maps), do require a internet connection to download data, thats when 3G comes in (not necessary, could use wifi and gprs instead).
What is strange is that in Orange ROM (at least in France), a GPRS connection is made automatically each time you want to use your GPS. If the GPRS connection is NOT successful, you can not use the GPS (with tomtom, or any other testing GPS tool). How can I change this behavior ? I do not have an unlimited GPRS subscription !

It's required GPRS connection because you might have selected tomtom plus services such as Traffic, Weather. Just to be sure, take out your SIM or turn off the radio to see what happen. BTW, flash a different ROM is another choice.
Did you installed Google Navigator as my Kaisers GPS unit stopped to work after i installed GN?
On Orange ROM (in France), everytime you want to get GPS, you first have to connect to the Internet. It is not link with TomTom Plus, because even with HTC GPS tool software, you need to let the phone automatically connect to the Orange network prior to getting your location with the GPS. If you do NOT have a SIM card and the possibility to connect online with your phone, you get NO GPS location.
Please, help

As NGHIEM said above, flash a new ROM and this behaviour will stop. Try Duttys or Schaps for best stability etc.
I am using an AT&T Tilt with Garmin Mobile XT and there is an option to turn off Internet Data (Traffic, weather, etc.) in Garmin. If I want to use the GPS with no radios on I have to disable the Internet Data option otherwise the program tries to make that connection first and never acquires a fix. That may be part of your problem. I also just tried the HTC GPS Tool with no SIM card in flight mode and it got a fix in under 2 minutes inside my house by a window. Garmin also started fine. The GPS is an independent receiver and should require no other data. It appears that some other program is starting along with the GPS and trying to access the Internet. Like others have said before you can probably solve your problem by flashing a new rom.
I think I have found the solution:
- In the registry change:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\HTC\SUPL AGPS]
"EnableAGPS"=0 (instead of: 1)
Now everytime I use my GPS (with HTC GPS Tool, or Tomtom), the automatic GPRS connection is not started !
Please give your feedback about this.

What is this file about ?
I've searched and searched but couldn't find it (only references to it in other ROMs). Could someone either please post the HTC GPS Tool.cab or point me in the right direction as to where I can find it?
I know it's in a couple of ROM releases, but I'm happy with what I have now and just want that file.
Thanks, guys!
EDIT: Nevermind, guys. I found it. Thanks!
No card is found
I have installed TomTom on my new Kaiser and downloaded the free citymap, but when I then run TomTom it says: No card is found. What am I doing wrong?
I'm considering a GPS for the Tilt and am looking for some recommendations on what programs work well for some of you. However, I do not want one that uses ATT data since I'm wifi only have no use for the ATT data plan. On a side note I keep getting a message saying the current GPS software on the phone is out of date. This is the GPS software that came with the phone. How do I disable this and or remove the program to stop this annoying message. I unchecked tell me when software is out of date but I still get those damn messages.
The notification is from QuickGPS, which caches a small database of satellite position/orbit info to facilitate faster GPS fixes. Just run it and let it download the updated data.
Since you don't want a data plan, your only option is to pony up the money and buy something like TomTom or Garmin or another commercial, standalone navigation map.
Anything free like Google Maps or Live Search needs a data connection to push the map data, so unless you have your own mobile satellite wifi hotspot with you, you need one of the standalone commercial apps.

I think that you are advising him to:
1. connect to the internet and
2. download data
He has specifically said that he does not have a data plan - this means that every week (when the data goes out of date) he will pay a siginificant sum to get this data.
I agree that he will need to get TomTom (my recommendation) or some other simlar program. But without a data plan he should not download the Quick GPS data in my opinion.

Thanks for the info. I figured I'd need something along the lines of tom Tom. Is there a monthly fee on something like Tom Tom? How is it installed? Cab file? Is there any way to completely kill that Quick GPS. As I said I told it not to inform me when it's out of date but it still does. This is getting to be annoying.

Tomtom (and the purchased NAV programs that do not use internet data) have no monthly fee (you will however have to pay to update your maps - probably yearly)
I do not know how to turn off that notification - possibly look at add/remove programs and remove quickGPS?

TomTom can be installed just like any other application, with a cab file. But the Maps are usually huge which can be loaded onto a Storage card. There is no monthly fee or data requirements but the initial price maybe expensive. (Not quite sure on the last line )

even still he is going to need a data plan or it is going to take him dumb long to get a fix with out quick gps. Unless he uses his wifi every 6 days.
Don't know about anyone else but im in the habit of leaving my Kaiser connected to my main PC when im not using it so it's always synced and quickgps just downloads the data then.
On a note about which GPS software to recommend, i'd go for IGO8 over TomTom.
To me it just seems a lot slicker even over TomTom 7.
Of course it doesn't come with things like Mapshare (which I can't get working yet for TomTom 7 even after reading the threads) and i've yet to work out how to download TomTom POI's from pocketgpsworld and convert them for IGO8 but I love tinkering with it and finding out how to do things.
Igo is just for the UK right?

In options, if you turn off auto-update and the reminder the data has expired, that should do it.
If he does like cotc2001 does and has it hooked up to a PC regularly, then leave the auto-download via Actice Sync checked to get regular updates when connected.
Tom Tom 6 and Google Maps Combination
If you're a newcomer or person who gravitate towards stability or functionality like me, you're better off with Tom Tom V6. It's extremely user friendly and very stable in most, if not all, cooked roms. Most other GPS softwares are not as functional, require tweaks and tricks to make it work, clash with other installed apps (ie HTC Home, etc). IGO 8, to me, is eye candy (similar to the eye-phone, lol), and a severe memory hog to the point it'll make your device reboot. The time it takes most people to get most GPS apps working correctly on their device might as well cook up several Diamond or Kaiser roms, lol, for that matter. Tom Tom V7 (I read) is good, but it's still relatively new and require tweaks as well. When it comes to GPS, it is, in my humble opinion, that a GPS app/software (PDA/PNA) should be stable, functional, user friendly, and more importantly it's RELIABLE. Believe that!!!.
If you want simple, clear cut, easy to read directions with/without voice, and stability ... Tom Tom 6 is the way to go and require no tweaking or editing of any kind like the others. I would also recommend the latest version Google Maps (require data plan) as well. It's a good combo and they compliment each other nicely.

Not sure, my Tilt doesn't behave that way. Did you soft reset after unchecking them? The notifications is set by a registry key, so maybe it's not getting reset correctly?
After doing it I did turn it on & off ( soft reset). Can't I just uninstall this piece of &%$# quick gps? There's nothing listed for it under remove programs.
Hi to all
I've the same problem that many people have, as I've seen here in the forum.
Quick gps doesn't update anymore. I've tried all the registry tweaks that I've found but nothing. I've written to HTC but they don't have answered.
I've tried quickgps from kaiser but without success. So, I should do an Hard reset but I want avoid it. Is there someone that has the cab for the diamond's quickgps ? I've seeked here and in other forums but I don't have have found anything. Perhaps reinstalling the original cab should resolve the problem.
My quickgps version is 1.0 build 1815.2630. Rom is 1.37 official from HTC, italian.
Thank you very much to all

Thanks a lot, but I have tried it yet. I think that only the specific version for diamond go. When i try to install another version it says me "digital signature with certified reliable not available" etc.
Perhaps because another version is yet installed, but, being in rom, it's impossible to uninstall it. So I wanted the same version installed to overwrite it hoping it will function well.
QuickGPS connection failed
hi all.
i am also having some trouble with my touch diamond (p3700) & quickGPS.
i've had the p3700 for 2 months, and so far so good. i used quickGPS when i first got the p3700 and all worked well. i have loads of apps installed, and around 5 GPS included ie. GarminXT, Route66, iGO8, MapKing2007 etc. all have been working well.
yesterday i decided to update the packedEphemeris data via quickGPS, and after multiple attempts, each attempt would advise "Connection failed try again later"
the next thing i have noticed is that all my GPS apps cannot connect to satellites any more. i tried by leaving my p3700 connected in my car with a clear view of the sky, and even after an hour or more, none of the GPS apps successfully ocked onto any satellites.
in comparison, my other HTC (artemis) p3300 was able to lock onto satellites within a few minutes or less with any of the same GPS apps, also i downloaded the latest packedEphemeris data via quickGPS successfully while i attempted to do so with p3700 yesterday and today. so i know its not anything to do with wifi et al. connections etc.
nothing new has been installed, nor uninstalled on the touch diamond...
so whats up with that???
i have sent an email to HTC support and am awaiting their advice.
i really don't want to have to resort to a hard reset, as installing all those apps will take me a day.
anyone can post their quickGPS reg folder please... from their TOUCH DIAMOND
thanX
I have had this problem where Quick GPS will not update, either from ActiveSync (as it did automatically before), via WIFI or 3G/HSPDA. Whilst at the same I found that You Tube will no longer work so there is definitely some issue with it. By doing a hard reset got it to work again but I think at some point it will stop, so any answers will be most useful (for us all!).
GPS and Internet calling
Everything was working fine unless I installed WM6 Voip application to use my Diamond to make internet calling, thereafter no GPS recognition by tom tom and no luck with Quick GPS as well. Hard resetting the device solved the problem and again I installed the WM 6 Voip application and again no luck with GPS. I did that three times and concluded that unlocking WM 6 Voip feature blocks GPS ports. If you are using WM 6 Voip then you might not be able to use GPS as I experienced.
I have the same problem:the quick gps won't update. If you find anything as a solution please inform!
Solution with Quick GPS update.WORKS!
This solution works and has nothing to do with registry hacks, installing cabs etc..Well lets start:
1)Open Internet Explorer from your Diamond(Start-->Internet Explorer)
2)From the Favourites menu go to the HTC web page(should load, normaly)
You are done!Go to the quick gps and now you can update as before!(It seems that the Diamond losts his way to the internet but as soon as you go to the HTC page, the way described here, the problem is solved!)
thanks for that, just tried it and it worked perfectly!!
Very weird, I had the same problem and the IE trick worked.
Thank you, elflost
I'm having the same issue with quickgps not updating and getting a a connection error. I tried the IE trick but it still didn't work. Any other ideas?
OMG that's crazy!
I was trying all sorts of things and I just opened IE (first time I ever have as I've been using Opera instead) and now both QuickGPS and the YouTube are working again.
Thanks very much for posting, now I don't have to waste anymore of my evening looking for solutions.
Cheers.
The trick with IE solved the issue with me too. That's a bit weird, every other programs are able to find the internet connection through wifi..

Fantastic post - worked perfectly on my Diamond running Google Maps. Thank you!
Hi,
I bought my Xperia 1 day ago, it's really good device. But I'm having some problems with GPS. Google maps starts to scanning for satellites for ages and never stops. I also tried the "Chartcross Gps Test" program and it finds the gps but it's always on "GPS Starting up" status.
Does anybody nows how to test it ? Or if there is something that i have to enable first? (all the configs are default - like in a hard reset)
It should work straight out the box. Try the quick GPS download in the Programs>tools folder. Downloads the locations of the satalites for the next week to the phone. Since using this, tomtom7 can find my loction in seconds (literrally)
Have you been trying it inside a building? In that case it won't work. I had the same thing with the GPS. In a building there is no connection to satelites, works perfectly though outside and from within a car.
Tomorrow I try google maps.
However I use tomtom. Befor all download effimeral with quick gps.
First of Xperia I have a Polaris. Xperia gps is much better than polaris. And polaris has a very good gps....
Tomtom7
Where did u get the Tomtom7 software for the xperia. A friend of my using his tomtom device and it works really fine! So on my X1 it would be really great if i can use it too!
I don't rememder now, but you can use Diamond tt7. It work fine.
ah thank you! but i can't find the file. could you post me the link for download pls
To test GPS use GPS Test from ChartCross. It's a great, free utility.
http://www.chartcross.co.uk/products/WM00002_details.asp
thank you! ....
Now it's working fine. I have to test it with tomtom later, but with google maps is Ok now. I followed buckle247 and Dryw Filtiarn tips. Now it finds the satellites very quick.
Just one question, google maps requires internet connection and how about TomTom?
One thing that i noticed is that the GPS sometimes doesn't "turn on", because either Chartcross or GoogleMaps can't find the GPS device, however if i turn off and turn on Xperia it finds. Is it normal?
kotarou TomTom doesn't need to run over GPRS as the maps are all stored on the Memory Card, however if you subscribe to traffic data then that will need a GPRS connection.
Also every so often I get the "No GPS Device" sometimes just leaving the phone for a minute makes it appear, other times a soft reset.
Cannot install GpsTest
Hi, I tried to install GpsTest on Windows Vista, but it doesn't work, since GpsTest installer requires ActiveSync. But Activesync refuses to install on Windows Vista, because there is another SmartPhone software.
Does anyone know another versione of GpsTest, compatible with Vista, or a version installable directly on the X1?
Thanx!

Found a fix
If your 3G data is switched off, then you won't be charged for anything. GPS won't charge you as it is tracking signals from satellites, much like a Sat Nav.
I dont know about others, but I've been having problems about my TTN6 acquiring gps signal. What I would have to do is to open my GoogleMap and scan my location there and then open my TTN6. Even the GoogleMap is having a hard time. I have my setting on Com4 and 4600.
I also use QuickGPS and always updated. Not really sure if it is because of cold start but i doubt it. There are times that I'd be using my gps already and I'd have to soft reset my phone(due to alignment issues) and when it comes back on, I would take awhile for it to find a signal(even though i'm on the same spot when I soft reset the phone).
Any help if appreciated.

The tricky thing with radios is that they are different for every ROM, location and provider! So realy the only thing to do is try acouple out! Or go to the Ultimate Radio thread and read to see if someone from your area has recomended one or two! Here is the link to the thread! http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=393182
Where are you located? If you are by me than I can recomend a couple!
location
i'm southern california

Ok, thats far away and much warmer than Minesota! Yea I dont know any for California! There should be some suggestions in hte radio thread though! Sorry, wish I could help you more!
not sure if there's a difference, but on my device, i have set it to com 4 and 9600 and things seem to work fine here in Malaysia and in my travels to Indonesia.
my first GPS lock took some time and doing, and i finally got it working after i ran this "GPS Test" program. Forgot the original thread & poster i found it here, but here's a post with the same. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=374349
I had a similar problem. Not being comfortable flashing another radio, I tried a program called Franson GPSGate. It allowed me to use mulitiple programs that utilize the GPS signal at the same time through the same COM port.
I also get fizes in under 15 seconds when I have GPSGate running first. (it primes the GPS signal and keeps it ready for programs that need it). Just another option.
agreed
GPSGate is a great program. Trialware though. I have started tinkering with a program called "AmazeGPS" that will give you turn-by turn directions, and update your route as you travel, unlike google maps. definetly not as handy as google maps for local searches though. best used if you have an address already. The Radio on your phone does affect GPS, as well as all the other connectivity areas (data, phone, bluetooth, and even wifi, i think). if you are looking for something with good connectivity, 1.71.09.01 is an awesome choice. the tradeoff is that it is a bit of a battery hog. i am assuming that you will be using this in a vehicle or something, as gps itself is a battery hog, and if you plan on using it frequently, you probably have it plugged in somewhere. I live in Arizona, by the way. hope this helps!
Try the attached program, if you are able to see the satellite signal...
I live San Diego, using the PC.Ultimate.V16 rom with Tomtom7. I have my GPS configuration with other NMEA GPS, 57600 baud rate, COM4 and I get a connection in 15 seconds.
I think this question was just asked in another thread.... use GPSTest and then when it acquires a signal open up TTN6 or 7 annoying I know but it works for quite a few people
Excellent
Nice the GPStest, now i try to make functionally mi Googlemaps...
Tks
Here is my advice... I get that same problem sometime in my TomTom (I used to use 6.. but now using TomTom 7)... I installed that GPS Toggle that is a start menu item... It is nice.. it says GPS OFF or GPS ON.. When you turn it on, it says "SEEK : XX" XX beign the number of sats it is searching for... Then when it gets a lock it says "LOCK : XX" and also shows how many "bars" you have.... Sometimes I use it to just test out the GPS function w/o loading TomTom... But I have also found if I turn the GPS ON with it before loading TomTom it locks on faster (a lot faster)... I think it sort of jump starts the GPS chip to lock on faster... It is the same software you have to use if you have a HTC Mogul and want to use TomTom (For some reason TomTom doesn't see the GPS chip in that phone w/o this little program or something simmilar)...
I attached the one I use as a cab.. Just copy it over to your storage card... use file explorer and run the cab file... Then after it is installed do a soft reset... You may have to go into the Today screen options in settings and put a check infront of it to see it on the screen... Hope this helps
