Hey guys, I have an ATT Tilt here and there are multiple scratches and marks on the shiny black outer rim of the face of the phone. Is there a way to buff these scratches out? Could I use car wax to polish these scratches out? Any other suggestions? Thanks
I am thinking, the scratch remover liquids for ipod would work but i'm not sure, find a decent reviews of it and give it a try i guess.
Try CAR WAX...
i dunno man, if you're gonna do it put some masking tape where the matte finish plastic is... the rubbery areas. it'll buff that part too

So I bought a vertical leather pouch, apparently the offical T-Mobile one. Used my HD7 with it for a few days until my clear coloured argyle silicone case arrived. Went from the leather pouch and to the silicone case every few days and now I've noticed an odd stain/discolouration on the bottom part of the back case!?
I can't tell if it's the black coming off the leather pouch or if it's coming off the silicone case but I'd get it cleaned off! The diamond shapes in the stain make me think it's from the silicone case but it's not black so I'm entirely sure where it's coming from but it's getting worse
Any ideas anyone on how to safely remove this stain without ruining my back cover? I tried soap & water, pencil eraser, magic eraser, lysol wipes.. I'm afraid to go with a harsher chemical.
have you tried rubbing it in circles (medium to hard pressure) using a microfibre cloth (dry)? maybe the phone heat (which is usually on that location) caused some reaction with the plastic case and/or pouch ur using (especially the cases are tight)?
dude im having the same prob and i dont have any case windex seems to work ok for me though

I haven't tried a microfibre cloth. Not sure I have one. Are those the cloths used to clean LCD screens?? Anyway I also tried "Goo Gone" best known for removing the sticky stuff after peeling off tape or stickers but even that had no effect on this damn stain. I tried rubbing it softly with a q-tip and with a harsher cloth.
I haven't tried Windex yet. Maybe my issue is not cleaning right after it stained. But it's almost like this material of the casing is working against me and not easy to clean.
mines starting to do the same thing plus im not using a case
Yup, microfiber cloth used for cleaning the LCD (not the cheap ones that comes with some of the screen protectors). hope the stain problem gets resolved soon!

Wow..
I just tried the microfiber and nothing.. Tried Magic Eraser again and nothing.. Tried Windex on a paper towel and nothing. Scrubbed hard too
This is ridiculous. And it's not like I can buy that piece to replace mine either. I don't care so much about the stain but I know when I sell it down the road the next person will cry about it. And I'd hate to this of having to discount the phone for some annoying stain.
Anyone know if I can buy the 2 piece replacement backing anywhere?? Should I try calling HTC for it maybe?
So there's a slight scuff mark on the grey plastic just to the right of my camera... on one of the TWO areas where the phone could easily get scratched/scuffed. Does anyone know of a way to remove these, or am I SOL?
I normally use 3M rubbing compound to polish out scratches on plastic or just about anything with a high gloss finish, but being it's next to a spot where it could into a crack around the camera it could be tricky. It would dry white and could be hard to get out. Anyway, you'd put a tiny bit on a cloth and rub like crazy.
The best case so far is the Griffin survivor knockoff but it is very cheaply made. The screen protector scratches very easily. Does anyone have an idea where I could get the material used for the screen protector that Otterbox uses ?
Otterbox defender has a good quality protector but unfortunately it has cutouts for the home button as well as the top Speaker.
ARE there any other options ? Does anyone have any ideas how to dust proof the Otterbox?
Dust definitely is a problem with this case. I end up taking it apart to clean a couple of times a day, which sounds worse than it really is, even to me - When I think about it, I'm like, "Ugh, what a pain", but then, after, I'm like, "That wasn't so bad".
Anyway, in response to your question, I do have an idea, but haven't tried it and probably won't because I don't mind the cleaning.
You could cut to size and glue rubber washers to the inside of the screen, outlining the cutouts.
Tape. Put a small piece non sticky side up over the home button opening then tape it down from the inside do the same with the speaker cutout and use a needle to perforate it. If you're good with an exacto knife you could cut colored tape to fill the opening then use a small strip of crystal clear packing tape to seal it into place. It's cheap and easily replaceable when dust gets stuck to it. It'll serve 2 purposes of helping block the dust and catching what sneaks by.

What is the point?? You might as well put it in a glass case and never touch it. It's not a mickey mantle rookie card, it's a frikin phone.

Some people work in environments with lots of silica dust which will destroy the screen in no time. It's no fun to have a hazy scuffed up screen on your $700 phone.

If I worked in an environment prone to dust/sand, I'd have an otterbox no doubt!
I don't mind a few scratches on my phones body/midframe but my screen must stay relatively pristine. Scratches on my viewing area drive me insane  luckily I have an office job, but I do live in Florida and there's lots of sand around to wreak havok on your screen. For that reason alone I never put mine in a pocket cuz I prefer my glass naked, so I use a microfiber/microsuede lined leather holster with the bottom corners open so the sand and dust can fall out easily.

Defender for Note 2 won't save you from dust. For someone working in such harsh environment, I wouldn't even recommend getting N2 but rather S3 with Otterbox Armor soon to be released. Seidio OBEX might work as well. But those are not for N2
+1 for survivor case..that is what we can get for now on our note 2..

I guess I don't see how taping over the speaker and the punching tiny holes in the tape solves anything. Also tape would peel and get dirty. Just put a quality sp on and buy a good case, then leave everything else up to the gods.

Tape costs a few bucks for a big roll. When it peels you replace it, same with getting dusty. Thats the whole point of using tape so the dust sticks to it instead of getting and and being able to move around. As for perforating the tape, a few small holes is much harder for dust to get thru than a large opening, but will let the sound thru fairly well. Obviously you've never had to protect electronics in a harsh environment. One of the most common things done to protect ordinary electronics in the desert is put tape over the ports to prevent sand from getting in. Same in wet environments only you use heavier tape like no residue duct tape.

I found this on Amazon and remembered seeing this post. Figured I'd bring it to your attention. I was looking at the zero lemon battery and stumbled on this. Waterproof and dust proof.

I just had a marvelous idea. Put the phone in a zip lock bag and use a bluetooth earpiece. :good:

Yes obviously, because you know me, I've never had to protect my device in the desert.
But you would be wrong, I did 4 combat tours in Iraq and I never had a problem with a screen protector and a case. I been in sandstorms so bad you couldn't see in front of your face and I've never damaged a device. So before you go assuming things that you know nothing about maybe you should stop and think before you put your foot I your mouth.
In fact I still have the ipod I took with me and it works perfectly, as did my mates.

I have the book type flip case with holes on the flip cover for accepting calls and all that stuff but its not dust proof and I hate it..dust gets to my screen everytime and it damages my chrome bezel and back cover
Hi, a few days ago I bought and applied this nano technology screen protector on my g2
Anyone has try it?

I just bought it because it seem convincing,
and many of my friends use it too
And they scratch their screen with keys to prove it to me....
And it really had no scratch..
I'm just curious

Looks like they are made by a japanese company and they have some crazy s***! I saw a screen protector that literally looked like it was made out of water. They tried scratching a phone screen protector with a brillo pad and also with a steel wire brush but the screen protector just "formed" back like it absorbed the scratched.
This stuff looks like the hybrid nano ceramic car paint sealants you can buy. They basically form a glass layer over your paint that makes it extremely smooth and water resistant.
However, although very hard its also very very thin. Its resistant to minor scratching from grit and sand under low pressure, but it wont protect from a drop onto gravel like a plastic protector will.

thanks for the insight...
so it's still better to use plastic screen protector..
what brand that can you recommended for me???
This looks neat
This really isnt going to protect very much at all. All it does is make the surface slick so that most abrasive things slide rather than dig in.
All ive ever used is cheap screen protectors from eBay, packs of 5 or 10 for a few $ or £. Expensive ones are no better and the wet ones are hard to fit, sticky and wont protect any more anyway.
I think unnecessary, just advertising ..
I bought a pure edition with the ebony wood back and find it very slippery. I dont want to cover it with a case, but i need to make it more grippy. Is there a wood wax or stain i could use to make it have more grip? Any ideas?
Thanks

Moto bumpers, just covers the edges but gives some protection for the whole phone.?
Nick,
Be careful with your ebony back as it's not real ebony; more of an ebony like paint scheme over bamboo.
Other than a case or bumper, the only thing that comes to mind is wax; just like surfers wax their boards for more traction.
I know some types of bee's wax can be quite tacky.

That's more along the lines of what I was thinking about. I would prefer no case. I will check into some sort of wax.
Thanks

Sand paper? ?
You could also try some clear, rubberized epoxy spray such as this http://www.rustoleum.com/about-rust...m-news/introducing-rustoleum-anti-slip-spray/
I would make a point of making sure whatever kind you use is non-toxic after it dries, though, being that it will be touching your hands so often.
Also, I would pry the back cover off to spray it, and test a small area to see how it reacts with the veneer before spraying the whole back.
Your problem was exactly why I chose to go with the traditional rubberized back, rather than wood. That ebony looks nice, though.

If you try to do this you will most likely crack the wood; it is very well glued down (despite some folks seeing some lift in the corners).
Another thing that comes to mind is that 3M makes these little adhesive, clear, convex silicone bumpers. I remember using 4 of these; one in each corner of my Nexus 4 to keep it from sliding off counters. They are available in a pleathora of diameters and thicknesses.
