Paypal - Off-topic

I have a paypal account set up without a bank. My idea was i would just use this paypal for prepaid debit cards only.
Only problem is to add funds to paypal i believe you have to transfer it from your bank account. is there any way i can just send money from my pre-paid debit cards to my paypal balance?
So far the only way ive been able to do this is buy something from a certain website with my debit card, and then cancel the order, they then refund the money to my paypal.

Yeah i was thinking the same, or like some sort of web service that you pay using your debit card and it will automaticly add that amount of money youve payed with your debit card to the paypal account.

Just add donations to your account and donate to yourself. Make sure you get the email link.
Once you do that, either create a fake web page that sits on your desktop containing only the link (can be done in notepad) or email the link to yourself.

Dont i need to donate using another paypal account? How can i donate strait from a prepaid debit card?

hey thanks! Yeah i do need a different email to do this, but i think ill manage to figure it out. I actually did try and donate the remainder of what i had on a card to you (15 cents lol) but i think yours only accepts GBP?
thanks again.

well, the trick is;
setup 2 personal accounts.
add a card to account a) and make a payment to account b)
accept the payment on account b) and you now have money in the kitty.
however, you'll get charged a fee, so after accepting, refund it, and you'll get the money on the paypal balance in account a) with no fees

1. you won't get charged a fee but only up to 5 times a year :/
2. paypal doesn't officially allow you to have two personal accounts (it can be 1 personal and 1 premier or business)

so if i do this refund thing, wont it just charge me a fee to refund it back?
There isnt a "refund" button now is there? so wouldnt refunding just be like donating the same amount back?

yes, there's a refund button; if someone pays you, you can refund that transaction; the money goes into their paypal balance and paypal take no fees

Chaps some advice please
Sold my xbox 360 for around £320 on ebay
Guy paid via paypal echeque
Took around 10 days to clear and its gone through today.
I emailed the guy and asked why he paid via echeque and not normal instant pay via paypal. In his response he was a little confused as to why it was echeque and came back to me later and found that his card had expired and hence the echeque. He asked me to refund the echeque, and he would repay via proper paypal with his new card details. I told him to leave it as paypal where processing it, he agreed.
Now the problem is that although the cash has cleared, he isnt verified and that means that I am a seller am not protected. What do you suggest? Should I ship the item? I sold something of similar value on ebay previously, and they reversed the transaction because the account had be hijacked. I don’t trust paypal anymore….
Wait with shipping before you are 100% sure you got the money!!
just fyi i bought a prophet battery on ebay, it arrived today. I paid as usual using paypal and only found out after a week that I had paid by e-cheque.
It took about a month arrive so probably the seller decided to wait a bit as well.
I didn't even know what an e-cheque was!

Beware of Paypal
I was involved in a law suit with them 2 years ago. I lost over $1300.00 over 2 years in 2 transactions which there were disputes from credit card co's. and it was 6 months or more after the transactions took place. Paypal would not give me any info on the dispute they just took the money out of my account. I asked for the name of the person and the card number or the contact info with the credit card co. and Paypal said they would dispute it for me and let me know within 90 days and that they couldn't give me info because of privacy issues and to just trust them . Well I trusted them I lost $1300.00 $950 the first time and then $350 this was 5 years ago 3 years ago I was contacted by a law firm that invited me to join a class action suit. Paypal lost the case 9.5 million, my end $24.73 but you know I am happy Paypal had to pay since I only got 25 bucks you can imagine how many people were included in that judgment .We know the Law firm got half but 4.5 million and divided that into payments the size of mine there must have been thousands of people that had the same problem i did. They claim not to be Bank but charge fees as a bank. Because they are not a Bank they are not regulated by the federal government and that make it easy for them to do what they can get away with, whereas a Bank all the T's must be crossed and numbers have to add up. I do not leave money in Paypal I no longer link them with a Real Bank. I use a credit card that has a $300.00 limit to link to Paypal if you like to ebay you almost have to use Paypal unless the Seller has a store and they route u to their credit card service and then your taken a chance.
E-checks
One more thing if Paypal paid with a e-check from your account that means you linked a Checking Account to Paypal when you signed up to paypal and any time you buy something and you do not have enough money in your paypal account to pay for the item. Then Paypal will automatically setup an e-check payment from your bank account. This is dangerous because if someone gets your Id info even though you have no money in your paypal account they can still get access to your linked checking account by making a payment to someone via Paypal, Paypal will simply turn it into a e-check and start the process of withdrawing the funds from you bank account. Be careful !
many thanks for the info guys.
i'll wait until the funds clear into my bank account and then ship it out
cheers

ATT Premier rebate form for December

Hi
Can someone please put up the rebate for the ATT tilt that was valid for December and up until now.
I bought a tilt last week of December and ATT seemed to have removed the rebate from premier, I had saved it somewhere but cant seem to find it.
If someone has the rebate form for premier and can post it online, I will really appreciate it.
Thanks
I'm 99% sure I have this saved at my work computer, but unfortunately I won't be back in the lab until Tuesday. If no one else posts it up by then, I can get it for you.
I can attain that for you!!
You mean this $100 rebate valid 11/04/07-01/19/08 that is still on the main ATT website listed with the Tilt?

This is the one that is for the main website customers. not for Premier.
mr_skot and DOHCtah
If any one of you can get it to me, I will really appreciate it. no hurries, tuesday shd be fine
What was the difference between the premier rebate and the regular store rebate forms. Just go into a corporate location and they should be able to get you one. I think its still 100 bucks. atleast thats what the ones here at my store say.
Make sure you got the unl. data plan or you only get 25$, and thats a whole nother form.
The regular rebates work just fine for premier orders.....
My rebate through Premiere is processed from this form. Hasn't been mailed yet, but it worked fine. Put

From the rebate:
+Requires activation on a PDA Personal Plan or a $39.99 or higher unlimited data rate plan or a $19.99 or higher messaging plan plus an AT&T Voice Plan of $39.99 or higher

I have the $39.99 plan and a $29.99 Smartphone Unlimited Internet+1500msg plan. I'm thinking it'll be fine per their description.
My question, is this only for new activation? I bought a TILT on Ebay and the user gave me the receipt + the proof-of-purchase/IMEI sticker. I already had an account. I'm curious if this is will work, or if I need a seperate rebate as this says "AT&T Online only". Anyone have the store-based rebates available for print?
Is this only for new activation or will an activation 19months ago work?
Rebate Visa
Don't forget, people, since they give a visa credit card, rather than a debit card, you must charge exactly $100 to get the full rebate. The combination of credit and an expiration date is a fantastic way for AT&T to pick up a couple of bucks here and there from each of us.
Since its a credit card, your charges either are within your credit limit or they aren't. Unlike a debit card, you can't take $2.87 off if that's what you have left (unless you are charging a $2.87 item).
Nothing to do or say ... it is as it is ... just be careful; or your $100 rebate will become $94.87

Gasoline purchases seem like a good way to bleed these cards dry, yes?

Am i being scammed??

Can anyone please tell me if emails from paypal come from the email address
[email protected]
as i think someone is trying to scam me
I'd say probably. I did a WHOIS on Paypal.com and compared the results to intr-paypal.com, and paypal.com had lots of information available while intr-paypal.com had little to no information, which a scammer would do and a legitimate business wouldn't. I also visited intr-paypal.com, and it's a blank site made with Google Sites. I highly recommend forwarding the emails to [email protected], and reporting the fake site, as detailed here.
Someone must know i'll tell you all the story anyway, i sold somthing to someone overseas for 350gbp, they paid via paypal, paypal sent me an email and said that they have receive the money and are holding on to it until i sent them proof of postage, i did this but am still yet to receive the money ........ earler 2day that person contacted me and wanted to buy somthing else i had for sale on ebay, before i could tell him i already sold it he paid again by the same way, i contacted paypal on the address they were emailing me from as above, they advised me that they could not refund the money as a security precaution to prevent scamming, and me and the buyer need to arrange a method of refund, the buyer wanted me to pay by western union, so i told paypal i would but only if the money was cleared in my paypal account first, paypal replied saying that they will not credit my account until i have shown them proof of the refund,
Is this for real or am i being scammed?
here is the last email paypal sent me
Thanks for the swift response, We regret to inform you that the funds can't be credited to your account until we see a prove of refund, we got an email from the buyer saying that the agreed method is Western Union Money Transfer, so we want you to go ahead and make the refund of £550.00 GBP through western union and then get back to us with the transfer details as requested below .
Sender's Name :
Sender's Address :
MTCN Number (Money Transfer Control Number) :
Security Question & Answer :
Once you make the refund get back to us with the above information and we would release the funds to your account immediately, Also you are advised not to send the Western Union details to the buyer until you're being told to do so, We won't disclose the Western Union information to the buyer until the funds has been successfully transferred to your account, You may ask the buyer's for his address for the Western Union Transfer.
We are very sorry for the inconvenience, We are trying to make sure both seller and buyer are safe from any fraudulent activity,

Scam Scam Scam - this is a Scam. (Paypal did NOT send that)
That is so riddled with poor grammar, odd phrases and language you do not expect from a professional organisation. I've seen better grammar from my friends in The Bank of Burkino Fasso and at least he was offering me $90,000,000,000.
That is NOT from Paypal. Speak to Paypal using official links and numbers.
I'd also look at the email "headers" and look for the LAST received from IP number. Then do a Whois search to see it's source. (Nigeria is statistically likely)
Mike
Mike you got in in one mate . . . Nigera lol Im so dumb sumtimes i make myself laff lol
I guess some people need money... And yeah... PayPal wouldn't have such bad grammar.
best place for that email
forward to [email protected]
hope this helps

Shipping phone within US and PayPal

i posted my phone for sale on Craigslist. now i only deal with people locally and for cash, but someone had contacted me asking if i would ship to Louisiana.
now i've seen my fair share of scams. i've only texted with him/her so far and obviously having to ship and pay via PayPal were big red flags. otherwise, no broken English, no request to ship outside the continental US, etc.
IF (a BIG if) i decide to go through with this, here's a checklist:
confirm payment has been added to my account via logging in and/or calling PayPal to verify
ONLY ship to confirmed address listed on buyers PayPal account
opt for shipping insurance, delivery confirmation and signature verification (PayPal rep told me to do this to ensure I have paperwork in case a charge back occurs)
what do you think? i'm still strongly against shipping and will probably stick to my initial reaction...
I wouldn't do it.... But I'm a paranoid scaredy cat.

If uncertain, wait till the money has moved from PayPal to your bank account before sending. I usually stipulate that on my eBay auctions and no-one's ever complained.

thanks everyone.
as soon as i told buyer i'm only shipping to confirmed address on his/her PayPal account, they stopped responding to me.
What does the first email you go look like? (Protip: post the email here)
This way I can tell you if its a scam after posting dozens of ads on CL.
when I get those types of emails or text, I tell them either pay by western union or take your **** else where.....

Clover Pay on Nexus 7

I like this a lot more then PayPal (they screwed me out of over $2200 and I'm done with the BS customer service.) You have to side load it and use the "call" feature to activate it. If you sign up for Clover Gold, you get a $5 credit and you can turn that into an Amazon gift card, it's win win...if you just want $5 and want to close the account you can also do that, but I recommend using this for sending/receiving money or even Serve from American Express, I've been using this for almost a year. I like it, just happen to get a few more invites to share with you guys to check it out.
Again, you don't have to keep the account, you can close it after you get your $5 if you'd like. It requires you to enter you bank account to transfer funds etc. It's a legit company from ex yahoo employees and few other big name players.
If you guys want to try it, here is my link to get in:
MOD EDIT: Removed
Let me know how it works for you guys or if you have any issues, I have a few invites left.
Sorry, we don;t allow this service to be promoted on xda using referral codes.
