Hi all,
I have a T-mobile wing and it has the stock rom on it. Also, it is not hard spl anymore. I used to have open touch 6.1 lite diamond. The phone turns on and makes the keyboard sound. When it turns on there is a white screen but if you move the screen out so that the keyboard is visible you can see a discolored screen with windows mobile on it. Also, you cannot use the touch screen. The farthest you can get is the welcome screen that has the align screen but it wont align. Would anyone be kind enough to please help me with this issue. I greatly appreciate the help and great thanks to all in advance. I have read around in the forums and it says to buy a new screen, a digitizer, or fix the display drivers. I currently think it might be a software problem but I do not know where to start. Again any help is appreciated and thank you all again in advance for your help.
Have you given the unit some time indoors to warm up? Working for Garmin tech support, I have seen many wierd thing go on with screens and electronic device as a whole when it starts getting cold outside.
Then again, it may be something that is going on with the software of the phone. Something along the lines of a display driver.

Thank you very much for responding. Yes, I have let the unit warm up. At first this problem went away but it came back after. What do you mean by display drivers? Do you think I should hard-spl again and try a new rom? And if that doesn't work, should i open up the unit and see if the cable it tightly attatched? Before the discoloration, I was able to use my phone with open touch 6.1 lite, but there was a white screen when the keyboard was not visible. Also, when i moved the keyboard, the phone would work by allowing to me call and text but it would freeze a lot. I hope this clarification helps.
Mod please move to herald section because this topic may or may not pertain to herald mobile 6.
Would anyone please help me I would greatly appreciate any advice, thanks in advance to all. p.s. I added pics and the touch screen doesn't work, the physical keys kind of work when the screen is viewable.
Reply please!
did you ever figure it out!? oh wow finally i found someone with a similar problem. my wing was in my pocket at work when the first similar signs arose. ITS PRACTICALLY BRAND NEW! it did that for a while and now the screen is just all white=( PLEASE help! anything would be good. i just want to know if its fixable or should i just get a new phone. you can email me too at [email protected]
First I want to say hello to everybody because this is my first thread.
I found a lot of solutions for my problems on this forum but I can not find solution for brand new problem that appeared yesterday. The thing is that my phone fall out from my pocket and now I do not have any picture and light anymore. I can turn on phone, synchronize with my laptop but no flashing light on buttons and no picture. The LCD seems OK (no scratch or visible sign that is broken).
Does anybody know what is wrong or what can I check? Phone has no warranty anymore.
try and get the help from general options.
if you cant get this fixed.. please let me know..
i am badly in need of dead Touch diamonds..
we are working on a college project....
please be kind
I managed to repair it. I opened it, put all together and it works now. I think that one (or both) connectors on the back side of main board lost connection when the phone fall on the floor. So lucky me, I have a working phone.
Sorry asnaveenkumar, now it works.
Hi all...
I've not really posted before so, first of all, "Hi!! " *waves maniacally*
While I know there is no best rom and they're all different, I was wondering if anyone knew of a rom that didn't need the Touchscreen??
The reason I ask is that recently the touchscreen on my X1 has been having random fits of deciding it no longer works... i thought it could help to re-flash a new rom, but when it started back again it comes to the screen alignment setup page (forgot about this) and i'm stumped, since the touchscreen won't work right now...
Know it might be a random question, and probably unlikely, but any suggestions would be great!!
probably not...
but seeing as your x1 seems to be, well, broken, you should really get it repaired, before it just goes completely kaput!
Hi,
If you leave in Holland i can fix your telephone you only need to order the part, and bring it with your telephone and i will repair it for free! Did this before with different sony ericsson phones so got some knowledge of it.
Greets,
wouter
your ribbon cable has probably worn away ( a common problem)
My touchscreen didnt wanna work when the keyboard was out for some reason lol. I sent it for repairs and they fixed it in under 48 hours. Quite impressed i was.
same reason! ribbon cable was worn away. happened to me too, unfortunealt took SE a couple of weeks (due to a postal strike perhaps)
See... that's the weird thing... I thought it was a physical hardware thing, but after loading the new rom, eaxch time i turn the phone on, there's a screen before the align screen setup that says "tap to setup windows", and when i tap that, it progresses to the next screen... It's like it's sort of working but it depends on the screen it's on??
Thanks for the kind offers, but living in ireland myself, so might just tackle it myself as a home-repair... if i can pinpoint the problem...
Happy St. Patrick's Day zac! Let's get hammmerrrrrrrrrrred!!
Hey guys,
I've had my X1i for a year now. No hard falls most falls are on soft surfaces. & Suddenly today morning woke up & the touch screen isn't responding. So I looked up posts, some said turn it off & turn it back along with removing the battery & it should work fine. Tried that, worked for a bit then stopped working again. Also tried soft-reseting & gave the same result. So is there any other method you guys know ? I'm thinking the other type of reseting..forgot what it's called but that'll delete everything so i gotta back things up first. So any solutions? & thanks in advance.
Have you got a screen protector on it? If so, try lifting the edges of it a little.
Nope, no screen protector. Does it have to do with any .cabs i've installed before ? Or they're not related? Is the battery related? Could it cause something like that?
I once run into the following, it may help you too:
after installing an app(from a cab) my screen was allmost non responsive.
Calibration didn't help.
I have "Advannced config" installed, uppon checkin the sensitivity it was waaaaay down, even under default.
Hope it helps for you too =)
i had the same problem to on my proto x1
it completely stopped working and i tried everything (reflash rom, boot android)
but all without luck so i bought a replacement screen
after a while my touch screen started working again but still occasionally fails
i have not yet replaced my touchscreen, i am thinking about a loose connector or something...
btw i was on official r3 fw
your flex cable might have worn out!

here is one thread about it, there should be others if you search some more than I did
and this would be a means to get a new one (official site, similar price), if it really is the cause and you don't like to tinker
cheers and gl
If your LCD is working, then it could be bad digitizer like mine instead of the ribbon cable. (Well, I use X1 a lot in humid place like bathroom.....). Just pay a few extra to buy the LCD+Digitizer for about ~$30 that will save you a lot headache for just the digitizer alone. There's a thread in X1 accessories forum.

THIS TUTORIAL IS ONLY FOR HTC TOUCH DIAMOND - NOT FOR DIAMOND2 / TOUCH PRO / HD2 ( This is simply because i don't have these devices with me and that i haven't tested! Those who have a spare handset are welcome to send it to me for diagnosis )
Let me get straight to the point. I’ve found out the solution to all the screen blackouts or the famous “microp error”. I’m sure no HTC so called Technical department could solve this.
I’ve been sitting 40Hrs straight with my HTC Diamond. ( The worst part is removing the screw’s and putting them back.)
THE PROBLEM –
1.It’s a hardware problem. Upgrading the microp.dll will not solve anything. ( Microchips gives really wired errors)
2.SYMPTOMS : A dialogue box showing “ Microp version 0 , Upgrade firmware “ (as far as I can remember) , dim or no backlight , no charging indicator , No backlight for physical keys , no touch sense (D button) , soft reset button non responsive..
3.EARLY WARNINGS: (a). If u have dropped your HTC diamond , then there is an 87% chance of this happening. (b.) Exposure to extreme cold/heat. ( if it’s a heat issue then u might need to replace the motherboard.)
THE SOLUTION
I don’t have a cam to record the entire event. But there is a YouTube video of an HTC dissembling. I’ve downloaded the video and put captions in it so that it would be clearer. Video will be uploaded soon.
Diamond de-assembling video - http://bit.ly/bxtcw0 (some Chinese guy , thanks dude)
PROCEDURE
When you remove the back cover , you’ll see
1.The battery
2.Sim card holder
3.Tons of screw’s
Remove all the visible screw’s.Remember , your warranty will get void if you have one!! This tutorial is for ones without warranty. Take a look at this picture :
http://www.twitpic.com/1cymw5
Remove the screw's shown above..
Next Locate the below chip.
www.twitpic.com/1cynw4
This chip is the main cause for the screen problem. This chip wen taken out has 2 connectors beneath it . These connectors wen gone loose causes the screen problem. It will take a few hours to just get them in place. ( HTC need to improve in build design)
www.twitpic.com/1cymhp . ( 2 connectors ) take out all the stickers if you want. Less annoying ..
Press it with your thumb (HARD) to ensure that they are in place. You can hear the click sound if you switch off your “Room” fan. Once this is done , put the battery without replacing the rest of the parts . ( All connections connected ) .. Try to turn it ON. If it doesnt , try again . Again it doesn't turn on then try again. Keep on trying. I'm sure that you'll get it working. IF it does turn on , please post reply's.
NOTE : Make sure that you connected everything back ( Very IMP) . For those who cannot take the chip out , I recommend you to watch a youtube video on how to dissemble an HTC diamond.

I was wondering what went wrong d day wen i rebooted my device.
I was screwed with an error message "microp error please update ur firmware"
googled a lot before ending up with team XDA.
came to know its a software problem, i cleared storage, updated a rom but nothing worked. finally i read xda instructions, i went to d nearest mobile store n explained everything. (since i dont have tools to disassemble my device at home) d service man did d job n i got my htc diamond working !
he just charged 100 rupees, htc service center wud have definitely asked much more than that !

Hi Siddharthsai,
I have a screen problem but a bit more unique. The touch screen can work for a while if I leave it alone but after using the phone for a while, the screen does not work. If I were walk around with the phone, the screen will not work.
The buttons all can work and the phone can function for programs that can be controlled by the buttons. I am wondering if the problem is the same as yours in terms of connection problem.
Appreciate your advise on this.
Thanks.

Have you tried Hard reset? Hold down the volume key and press the reset key and power button . Backup your data using PIM backup before doing this... let me know if its coming again..waiting for your reply.
I have done the hard reset using the volume down/enter and reset button. I have reached the screen where I have to press on the cross hair and is stuck here as the touch panel is not able to click on the exact spot as it is always clicking to the bottom left. The same thing happened when I tried hard reset using "clear all data and format" but have to wait for a while until the screen can work.
After that the screen problem came back again. Any other suggestions?
Thanks.

Sorry for the late reply. had some work.
Is you battery low? just turn off your device and charge until its full . this happens mostly when you use duplicate charger . try charging with htc original charger ( borrow it from a frnd ) ...charge it fully and hard reset. Tell me if it works... by the way are you having an Indian version of diamond? ( 2G) ?
Let me know.
RE:
Flash it with a new ROM and if it still persists , then its a hardware prob. do you still have warranty ?
man you are the bomb. many thanks for this tutorial
@ above
Thanx buddy. its not just me , its everyone in XDA ...we all rock
Guess what! My problem is solved. Did a hard reset yesterday but was stuck at the cross hair allignment as the screen was not responding. Left the phone overnight and could complete the allignment the next morning. After rebooting, the touch screen was jammed again.
Try flicking the screen with my finger a few times and managed to move from page to page and after flicking many times, the touch screen recovered and has been OK for the past 10 hours.
Guess one of the solutions for those who have intermittent problem is to flick your screen top and bottom. Guess the pressure must have connected any loose joints. I am a happy guy today )

I have a HTC Touch Pro 2 and I am getting the Microp error. The phone is not covered by warranty so looks like I may have to attempt to fix it myself.
I notice your tutorial deals with the Diamond - Any idea how to fix a Touch Pro 2?
@ above
Bro . Microp error comes because of the connectors. Since this is a slightly bulky , twice as big as diamond and has a slide out keypad , i suggest you to take it to a guy who knows to remove and fix things back.. ( not service center ) .. he'll charge you probably 200-300 bucks...just tell him to reassemble it back. Let me know...

HTC Touch HD microp error solved
I recently made an attempt to do the same to a Touch HD which showed the same Microp error and know what , its working... PM me for the tutorial
