HTC Home soft reset issue (2.1.1005.722) - Tilt, TyTN II, MDA Vario III Themes and Apps

On installation, the ability to soft reset my Kaiser (O2 XDA Stellar) device by holding the power button stops functioning correctly and i have to reset it using the pin hole.
The screen blackens and when the device is switched back on, any connections are severed but the device hasn't reset.
Anyone had/fixed this issue?
Thanks

Tilt locked up hard

Got a TILT that locks up at the Windows Mobile screen. Happened when I attempted to install XPress Mail. Not sure why. Odd thing is reminders still fire and pop up on the screen, and lights indicate WiFi is working. Anyway, I've tried the reset button removing the battery, leaving the battery out for 24 hours - nothing. Is there a way to hard reset the device back to factory values?
Fortunately this was a replacement for my original TILT that had a slightly slow clock. So I'm using the original for now.
Well that was a brilliant first post.
Found the hard reset routine - hold both soft buttons and press reset, holding the soft buttons until the restore to factory defaults appears, and then press send. Worked like a charm.

Cant soft reset using power button

Hi all,
Ive had me o2 XDA stellar for a few days now. Ive installed a few of the HTC CABs, SCLPC++.
Now the the soft reset on the power button will not work i have to use the reset on the base.
The handset brings up the soft reset dialogue box, and on selecting yes will turn the device off but when turned back on it is locked. The only thing that appears different at this point is my provider connection is lost.
Does anyone know of any cabs which cause this?
Cheers

All hardware keys on my Tytn II have stopped responding (including hard keyboard)

Hi,
Just last friday I got my new Tytn II and yesterday I discovered that the Backspace button on my soft keyboard didn't do anything anymore. All other soft buttons where working fine. Then opening the slider key board and trying the back button it didn't work either. Same goes for all (!) keyboard buttons. Then tried the green and red buttons, the tilt wheel and finally all hard buttons on the device. Only the power on/off button works.
The phone can be operated using the stylus. No problems there . I only installed Tom Tom, Remote Desktop and Google Maps. I am thinking of returning the phone to the shop, but my personal data and settings will be gone I think.
It seems like the driver that triggers hard button functions in windows is missing, broken or just plain ignorant. Anybody any ideas on how to troubleshoot and repair this?
Thanks for the trouble.
Cheers,
Donald

OK - obvious things first, this is either going to be a hardware or a software problem. If it's hardware, you need to return it to the shop as it will still be under warranty. If it's software, we'll be able to fix it with a Hard Reset.
Although a Hard Reset will remove all your settings and personal data, it will put the phone back into the state it was when you bought it. Seeing as the keys worked when you bought it, they should go back to working too!
My advice would be firstly to backup everything you need (contacts, e-mails, etc) onto your PC or your Exchange server. Then press and hold both softkeys and press the reset button with the stylus. Keep the softkeys pressed until you see a white screen warning about doing a reset, then release the softkeys. Press the green pickup button to start the reset, then the green button again when prompted to restart the phone. It will take a while to reboot first time, and then it'll go through the same screens it did when you first opened the box. Re-sync all your contacts/e-mails and you're sorted.
If the phone won't respond to the softkeys when you reset, and instead begins a normal reset, then it's definitely hardware. It could simply be a connector that's come loose, but opening the phone up will invalidate your warranty - so in your case, as it's so new, I'd say return it back to the shop and get a working one.
Good luck.
Perform a Hard Reset. That will rule out and correct any software issues. If it works after that it was the software that was messed up. If it doesn't work after that then its more likely a hardware issue and will need to be exchanged.

Where is "the reset buton" that can be pressed with stylus? I have read that on the XDA-Wiki page too, ...but I can't understand what is "the reset buton" (maybe is the power buton ...but I don't need the stylus for press it )

OK for a soft reset there is a small hole to the left of the usb input on your device. Just simply insert the stylus into that hole and push
For a hard reset hold down both soft keys (first softkey to the right of the green button and the second soft key to the left of the "end" button or red button). At the same time insert the stylus into that little hole and give it a gentle push.
If you actually read wiki there would be a nice diagram there for you.
Oh ...I understand now ... Thank you!
This has happened to me twice. I'm not sure what led to it and I've not been able to reproduce it. I think it's a driver issue. A soft reset fixes it.

this has happened on my wifes tilt/8925......worked fine on the way home then after she got home the green pickup button the end call button the windows button and the ok button have all stopped working. I thought it would be hardware but flashed anyway. remapped a couple of other buttons to bring up dialer.............do you think this may be a connector also.......or something more detrimental?
Thanks

Hard Reset
Switch the device off. Press and hold the "Volume Down Key" and "Action Button" (round button), at the same time, use the stylus to press the RESET button at the back of your device.

Xperia Hard reset gone

Hi all.
I'm a bit concerned. All of a sudden the ability of my phone to fix itself by hard reset (L+R buttons > Power on) is gone. This is quite bad.
I can still perform a hard reset via the control panel (erase all data).
Anyone know what's wrong? After the last hard reset the phone wasn't like how it was to begin with at all - or how it was after any of the other hard resets. All of the SE customisation had gone, and only the first 4 panels were available.
How come hard reset isn't a dead cert, and why in the world has the hardware shortcut gone?
Thanks
Mine refused to do a hard reset using the power button + silver buttons, it kept complaining that there was "no image file".
For some reason, using the soft reset button instead of the power button seemed to work on mine, after using the soft reset button behind the battery cover with the two silver buttons it did a proper hard reset and it worked with no problems.
i did 2 hard resets on mine now and i had weird behavior too.
On the first hard reset i couldnt hard reset by pressing the two silver buttons and the power button, just nothing happened. I then tried to press the silver buttons and inserted the stylus into the hole on the back which worked.
As i did a hard reset for the second time method 2 didnt work anymore, therefor method 1 suddenly worked...very weird
mine, couldnt hard reset it by preseing L & R and then soft reset...
i did it by clearing storage in setting!
It happen to me too...I solved it this way
Assign the default to each button left and right and then try it again..
PD: to hard reset trhee botton togheter and then relaese first the power button and wait until screen turn white....
Sorry for bad english
i need help!
mine did the reset ok, but when connected to sony ericsson's ipdate service keeps flashing 'no image file' and the update service says device not recognised. any ideas how i can fix it?
I have a slightly different problem. x1 to cleanse his memory, I was enabled very strange program that was the code'1234 'and when I did it my X1 phone simply shuts down. When I start up back, I appeared on a white screen with a blue stripe on top, and in the middle of the screen wee dagger. I've tried all the ways to retrieve the telephone to life but nothing is party, and the Internet also can not find anything. Please help.
@ thomsonss1: try a hard reset. That should work. Report back if it doesn't and we'll think of something else
Noooo it's not working.... I even can't to put a pin code or mobile code....
it suck......
I am also having the "No Image File!" issue. Has anyone fixed their phone or am I SOL?
