warrenty question - Tilt, TyTN II, MDA Vario III General

so i bought my tilt like 2 months ago..today at the gym..i dropped it..and cracked the screen..now the screen is completly white with a big ol' crack going through it...
my first question is..what kinda warrenty does att have/ what can i do to get this replaced?
number 2...i have a custom rom....but since i cant actually see anything on the screen..how do i go about flashing the original back so my warrenty isnt void? if i just flash it regularly would that work..and leave it on the phone without setting it up or anything??

Broken Screen is "Physical Damage" & as such not covered by the Mfg's warranty.
Your choices are send it to a center for repair, buy a new device, or buy the LCD & digitizer & install it yourself.

If HTC repair finds the damage is your fault they charge $28 to fix anything not there fault. When you send it to them they ask for credit card number for this . I just had to send my phone back and this is what happened

Actually HTC will charge way more than $28 for things not covered by warranty (like "physical damage"). I spoke with a HTC repair person on the phone the other day and she told me that the average bill for repairs on the kaiser was $140 or so.

HTC Touch diamond - dead .. not starting up

Hey I tried to unlock my HTC touch diamond with an unlocking software. In the process the cell phone suddenly turned off and now it is not working at all. Not turning on .. even not charging up the battery. In short look like no sign of life in the mobile phone. I tried every thing nothing work. I do have the warranty but dont have the reciept.
What can i do with this situation . any ideas how can i atleast make the phone start??? you exeriences and ideas??

sooo, you used the unlocker from ppcgeeks, which is fr cdma phones (and I'm not sure it its unlocking anything at all). Anyway - the only way to fix it is to send it to the service centre. If the phone is still on guarantee, there's big chance, that they will not be able to boot it, and replace the mainboard.

what if i dont have the recipt? no proof of purchase... i bought it from a friend and he lost the recipt for it . I know the fone has atleast 4 months warranty left .. but what else i should do.. again thanks for the reply ..

Exact same thing happened to me about 6 weeks after I bought my Diamond. Cost me $130 on the insurance claim to get a new one.
Obviously I haven't tried it a second time....
why u paid 130$ if you had insurance???
It was an insurance claim, not a warranty claim, and therefore I'm responsible for part of the replacement cost....sort of like the deductible for your medical or car insurance.

Bricked G1 and still have valid warranty?

Well if you recently bricked you precious G1, but still have warranty left, then your in luck, I was in such scenario a week ago and gathered up my courage and sent it back to RMA.
Waiting for almost a week, scared that i might get a call from HTC saying something like "hello this is HTC...WTF you haxx0r! pay $$$ and we'll return back your phone back alive"
Well, the story was quiet different, I got a call from them saying that they fixed the phone and will return it in X days at zero cost [well i paid for shipping when i sent it].
Done & Done, it cost me 5$ to get it fixed, instead of 60$+ by buying a broken g1 for Motherboard replacement, voiding the warranty, and the chance to screw up your phone even more.
*disclaimer: this might be considered a dishonest move from the owner's behalf since it was the owner's fault that the phone was broken in the first place, but is up to the owner if he/she wants to say a little white lie and send it to RMA, plus HTC told me the problem [brick] was covered under warranty*
-BTW warranty is voided if: you phone has water damage, physical damage, and/or warranty sticker was damaged or removed. [plus more that i might no be aware of]

Nexus One Repair Experiences

Long story short HTC Rocks!!!!!!!
I purchased my lovely nexus one in Feb, as soon as i convinced my wife why a $529 phone was worth it.
I rooted the phone almost seconds after I unboxed it and never looked back.
4 Months later i started having problems with the power/lock key not responding.
First i thought it was a ROM issue so i tried a few debugging techniques, No such luck.
Then after research i discover this was a known hardware issue.
Crap!! I voided that warranty with a smile on my face and now i may have to pay for it to be repaired.
To hell with that, i have fixed my Palm Tungsten, Blackberry and countless other consumer electronic devices ill fix this too.
I bust out my precision screwdriver set and the case pry tool and find a dis-assembly tutorial on the net. Warranty already void i think nothing of breaking the case seals. But alas i cannot seem to repair the button.
I break down and call HTC repair hot-line. I present the following.
Do you sell parts for repair ---- No sir we do not.
Is there are known issue with the power button ---- Yes there is
I setup a repair ticket.
I tell them i have rooted the phone and am proud of it.
The rep explains that with the phone being rooted it would be out of warranty repair.
They would be re-locking the phone, which is accomplished by replacing the motherboard entirely and i would owe the $196 for that service.
I also explain that i have broken the seals in an attempt to repair the phone
The tech gulps and tells me that i will also have to pay for any damage done while disassembling the phone.
she then writes on the ticket
"Issue Description: defective power button, cx has rooted the phone, and broke the seals in an attempt to repair the device."
SO Everyone is aware that i voided the warranty, the rep the service tech
I knew i would have to pay, so i waited for the email with the quoted price and i would shell out my credit-card and suck it up.
I received an email they received my package
I checked the repair website every couple hours.
I called them every day.
I never received an email for a price authorization.
I called and spoke with a rep who told me my phone was in post-repair testing and should be shipped out soon.
WHAT!!!! THEY REPAIRED IT AS A WARRANTY REPAIR!!!!!!!
I Cannot believe it, but it is on a fed-ex truck destine for my house today!!!
Holy Crap!!!! HTC Rocks.
Is this windfall of fortune because the part that was defective was the same part they would have had to replace because of boot-loader re-locking ???
Who has other experiences.
I searched for threads of peoples repair experiences but found few. I desperately needed to have an idea of what was happening to my beloved phone
HTC seems to be honoring the warranty if it's a hardware problem, even if you've unlocked your bootloader. I haven't had problems with it, but from what I've read that power button tends to go bad. If mine does, I'll call HTC (and not mention the unlocked bootloader), then when I get the phone back I'll do the root-without-unlocking method.
But yeah, HTC seems to have pretty stellar support for their hardware. Can't complain about that.

They sure have very good customer service in the US...but for the repair center, well I can only say they are horrible!

same problem as me. Got mine back today, and rooted it again. I didn't feel like cutting the sim card slot up and stuff.
They told me that I should ship mine back to HTC because (since frf50) it's been freezing and I need to pull the battery to restart. I don't want to though.

[Q] Is my AMOLED screen defective? will samsung replace it?

Last friday, my phone started to have a pink tint near the bottom of the screen. Since then, this pink has spread across half the screen. I still have about 1 month on my manufacturers warranty, however, a few months ago i replaced my screen with an OEM one i found on ebay.
I did a bit of research and i found out AMOLED screens at one point had a pink screen defect on certain phones.
Has anyone encountered this problem?
Would you guys risk sending it into the repair depot for repairs? The customer representative told me if my phone is physical/water damage free, they will repair it under samsung's manufacturer warranty.
I don't want to lose 25 shipping it there and another 25 for the phone assessment only to find that it isnt covered...
Any ideas?
Dont worry friend...just send it to service center and they will replace it.Dont dealy,you cannot solve this problem by your own.
100% chances are that samsung will replace it.My friend also had such issue and samsung replace it and handed the phone in 3 days.In our country,you have to walk to service center to obtain warrenty.No shippibg here

ive heard some depots charge at least $175 for the screen replacement...

if u changed the screen then how come ull get any replacement,i doubt it...go to a sammy center an replace the screen..u cant repair the pink or watever the screen as got...gudluk
the first screen needed replacement due to a crack. i knew samsung wouldnt cover the cracked screen so i replaced it myself. however, this time the OEM screen now has a tint of pink
Manually walk to a Samsung center and ask then that can this he repaired under warranty? If they say no ask them what cost they will take to repair it and if the cost ain't high go for it get a new screen ! Don't think a lot in such matters Coz at last u will have to get it repaired by some means! Hope I helped!

It will be good idea to walk manually to samsung service center.Dont tell them that in past u replaced the screen and also dont act like technical expert with them.Just behave as noob and i think you will have success

Sadly,i dont have a samsung repair center within walking distance. For me its actually 13 hour drive <- way.
The repair center requires me to send via purolator to their facility then pay them a 25 dollar inspection fee. They do no have walk in service.
This is why i wanted to ask for everyone's opinion before i invest another 50 dollars into something that has already failed me twice...

Sony broke my phone... What should I do?

I've never thought I will write this story on some forum but now I'm totally clueless what should I do...
I was a happy owner of Z1 Compact with root and Android 4.1.1. After one year the headphone connector stopped working.
Official repair gave me a Z3 Compact in return. Cool!
After 5 months the jack connector started pausing the music, later one channel stopped working. Phone was rooted and running 4.1.1 same as previous. I've sent it to official repair centre and it returned 2 days later. Broken. Touch screen is not registering touch, image on the screen sometimes flickers and shifts to 3 different colors (broken motherboard?).
Oh, and headphone jack is still broken.
After contacting Sony and repair centre I was told that my warranty has ben canceled because of unauthorized changes in phone (root? they never told me).
I've exchanged emails for over two months and nothing. I've lost my phone.
What do you think, what should I do? I'm afraid that if I go to court I will be smashed to pieces by their lawyers and it will cost me much more than a new phone...

Sorry, I know it's not very helpful, but I would recommend always removing root and restoring to stock firmware before sending any device in for warranty work. I hope someone can help, but I would say that Sony now have your IMEI blacklisted and you're scuppered.
Maybe try with the shipping company and see if it's insured up to a certain amount perhaps?

I have thought about it but decided against - based on two previous cases when they didn't care about the root...

Hi, thanks for input The problem is that I have received the phone back. They didn't ask me for any money for shipment or repairs. They've just sent it back and canceled my warranty.
I've asked them why they didn't ask me for money for the repair. They didn't mention anything that would resemble a answer to that question in around 20 emails we exchanged.
I've asked them if I could send the phone to them for repairs that I would pay for. They replied that my warranty is no longer valid. One woman from Sony (to whom i talked on the phone) said something along the lines "sorry but now you have no business with Sony" and the case is closed.
i always re-flash my Z3 compact before i send it to repair
Try getting legal or consumer advice from wherever deals with this kind of thing in your country.
Here in the UK although they could try and cancel the warranty, it doesn't remove automatic consumer protections under law. Sony would have to prove rooting caused the defect, otherwise they are still liable for the repair even without warranty.
But this would have to be done all in court, and most will not want to bother (even though county court is actually pretty cheap here and easy to do).
