I had bought a AT&T Tilt off ebay and in the States it works with my Cingular network. However when I travel as I am now in Greece and use the Cosmote SIM card it states that the SIM is not inserted and thus I am stuck. Cosmote runs on the 900/1800 network and Cingular runs on the 850/1900. The TyTn II is supposed to work on each and every frequency. It was supposed to be unlocked when I bought it but I don't know exactly what to do now.
Anyone help?
The Card is not even recognized, this points more to a broken SIM Card. The TyTn Can operate in all these Frequenzies and would prompt an error that this device is locked to another network if it wasn't unlocked. So this error message is more like there is no SIM Card inserted.
Have you tried it in another phone? cleaned the metallic contacts of the Chip?
Maybe you can try the unlocker program, to make shore it really is unlocked.

Try to check on Phone settings if Network selection, Type and Band are in automatic mode.

The Cosmote SIM I have for my TyTn works great in my friends K1 Motorola KRZR and his brother's RAZR...Both of which were unlocked in the US and also have greek SIM cards.
Does there need to be a special 3G SIM card inserted for the device to operate?
For the link

Its telling me I have to pay to check if its unlocked....I don't want to shell out $40 for something that "might" be done already
My v1615 (with Vodafone) showed the same error after owning the phone for 2hrs! Vodafone confirmed the device had a hardware fault and issued a replacement straight away - new handset has been fine.
I'm not saying that's the case with yours but it's already highlighted to me that the stability of these phones can be flaky at times (having been warned by several people before buying)

Hi,
This Kaiser is unlocked. When I insert my current t-mobile (NL) and turn-on, start the phone, will the 3G/HSDPA be configured directly?
If not, could anyone point me how to configure the 3G/HSDPA? Especially if you know the setting for t-mobile NL.
Honestly, I never have 3G/HSDPA phone, I use only GPRS with the HTC Magician.
Thanks for any help.
It should be configured automatically whenever you put in a new sim card, I'm sure T-Mobile NL will be one of the many supported networks.
Worked perfectly with my Vodafone UK sim, so unless you're with some little used operator out in the middle of nowhere, I don't think you'll have any problem.
Yep. can confirm this. Recognised my (7 or 8 years) old belgian Proximus SIM and configured all settings correctly.
I bought a Kaiser / TyTN II in Hong Kong, and it is a Chinese Windows version. When I was in Hong Kong, I tested and used it with different service provider SIM cards, it just worked fine.
However, I am now back to the states, and I put in a Cingular SIM card. My Kaiser could not find any the network at all. My Kaiser does not support the current service provider (Cingular), and suggested me to download the updates.
I tried to solve the problem by going through the network wizard, but I could only fine those Asia Pacific countries. No Northern Amercia countires can be found.
Please help!
Just to be certain, is it a newer 3G 64K SIM card?
Might just be a bad/old SIM card. I'd swing by a store and see if you can't get a new one myself...
Hi, I also got same problem today in China.
I am using Peoples Phone/GPRS SIM in HK, and everything work correctly.
Today I had business trip to china so I changed Peoples SIM to China UNICOM SIM(Only phone) . Then my kaiser couldn't find any network and asked me to chose Country and Netwrok. But China is not included in the list of Country....
PLEASE HELP ME Also!!
Whne I was about to give up, and left my SIM card in the phone. It took a few minutes, and my phone found "Cingular" signal. Now, I can use my Kaiser with my Cingular SIM card now.
However, whenever I turned off my phone or reset it, the problem happen again, but it took less time to pick up the Cingular signal.
I am using the latest SIM card from Cingular.
Remark: After a few trial confirming what caused the problem, I found out that if I chnage the channel (under phone setting) to Auto, my phone picks up Cingular signal everything I turn on or reset it.
I'm not really sure about this either. When I got my kaiser from att, it came with a new att 3g sim, which I never activated. I popped in my old cingular 3g sim from 2 years ago and it didn't work. Said no sim was inserted. That said, I'm currently using it with an old pre3g tmobile sim from 2004, and all is well.
I just got the Tilt and have unlocked it but I had to use my spare Roger's Sim Card for the Tilt to recognize the sim card. The Tilt doesn't recognize the T-Mobile sim card when I insert it. On my other phones it will read it. The sim card is about 3 years old, not sure if the Tilt only accepts larger size sim cards or what. Is there any way to fix this?

How did you unlock it?
It's not necessarily larger sim cards, but 3G sim cards if you need to use 3G. But it shouldn't affect your voice signal.
I inserted a different Sim card other than AT&T, asked for the unlock code and I entered it. Unlock was sucessfull but only with the Roger's sim card, I use that when I travel to Canada. My primary carrier is T-mobile, anytime I insert the T-mobile sim, the tilt says the sim card is missing. I thought there was something wrong with the actual sim card but I just placed them in my K800i and w810 phone and saw the sim card with no problem. I don't care for 3g since T-mobile doesn't support it yet.

Did you try to go into network under the phone settings, and select automatic?
It is set to automatic, the problem is that the Tilt believes there is no sim in the slot when the sim card is in the slot.
if the sim is 3 years old it maybe the sim is actually too old for newer devices
we have found this with some devices with some vodafone devices.
I work on all mobiles (In the US) for a living and due to the old SIM revision, it is too old to be recognized in newer devices software. If you go to the T-Mobile store and buy a new SIM for $15 they will move your service to the new SIM and the Tilt will read it.
Hello,
I have a problem with my T-mobile MDA Vario 3.
It was first simlocked, but I unlocked it.
And it works!
But only with simcards that are prepaid.
And I want my own simcard in it.
It's a USIM from HI.
The phone detects the other simcards but not that one.
Can someone help me?
Jitse
What companys Sim card is not working? Only GSM ones will work (So Nextel doesn;t work).. also, you do have to be in the coverage area.... What happens when you put in the other sim card?
I was one of the lucky ATT users to get an unlock code from ATT. The phone works perfectly with a US Tmo sim card. However, the problem began when i started putting in other sim cards. When i put in a Cellcom (u)sim card (Israel)i got a message "com.android.phone has stopped". I was unable to do anything because the error kept popping up. So i switched to an Orange (again Israel) (u)Sim. THe phone turned on without any errors but its not finding any networks. I try to go to the Network settings but the "Default Setup" option is not available.
Can anyone help me with this issue? I am going overseas on Monday and need to use one of these Sims.
(BTW- I am currently in the US but im assuming that wouldnt be an issue in trying to setup a sim card)
Thank you
I'm pretty sure if you put an Israel sim card in in the united states that it will not find the networks because Israel use a different frequency than the united states .
The type of sim card should have nothing to do with the frequency. That is determined by the type of phone you are using.

Sorry, no. The frequency is determined by what the cell tower for that carrier is running. For instance United states GSM is 850/1900. Israel is GSM 900/1800.
I'm using orange which is 850 also. Anyways why would I still be locked out the settings for changing the network info?
