perhaps device knows there is a radio present, but no data found
Well, my Tytn2 failed this week. Stopped making a noise. Pretty [zb] when it's used as an 'on call' phone
Anyway, so being Orange Contract I've got a new one. Arrived with WM6.1
Stuck the battery, sim and msd in and rebooted it....
I wondered why it was taking a while to boot and saw the message "Please wait while the device clears the storage".
The storage card is 4gb and contains LOTS that I don't want to loose. Gee Thanks Microsoft!

Surely this is a joke. By now you should understand that "Clear Storage" refers to doing a hard reset on the phone itself, and has nothing to do with your SD card.
Might I suggest removing your number from post #2?

Oddly enough, no. On WM6 it doesn't refer to this and I guess I panicked

Actually, WM 6.1 didn't do this automatically at first, either. Only the builds released in the last 2-3 months (i.e "the official builds") do this. If you still had a stock WM6 phone up until it died, then I can understand how you might now know this.
Regardless, don't worry about it, it's perfectly normal, and enjoy WM 6.1!

07 Mobile Number
721 Used to belong to a particular network but that's not reliable anymore. followed by a six digit number
Previously, 07721 was 0421 and I started using this number in 1997 ish.
Vodafone & Orange are the network I have frequented with that number
As for stock phone; yes. I didn't feel the need to upgrade at the time
Someone I usd to work with had the number 07*** 777 777, no kidding. no idea how he got it.

Back in 1997, my dad's cell number was 1 *** 200 0000. Pretty easy to remember since back then the US only needed to dial the last 7 digits of any phone number with the same area code.
I know a computer professional with the mobile number of 286 386 as the last 6 digits
It's nice to have an easy to remember number
It may sound like a daft question but if I change the ROM where do I get the Windows Mobile program from? Do I find a serial number on my handset for it before I put a new ROM on? If so, where is the re-installation file?
2 options
1 get it from htc or your isp
2 get it from this forum
not serial needed well not from this forum anyway
but mind you all not backup'd data will be lost after a flash

Not possible, you must be misreading one of the numbers.
It is possible.
This issue has been discussed before, as it has happened before. Do a search in this forum.

then why doesn't every thief in the world just steal phones, change the imei # and resell them.
I was under the impression that the only way to change imei #'s was illegally and with the right tools. It wasn't something that could be done easily or by " mistake " by unlocking your phone.

I did the search and found that some people didn't know that there can be 17 digits and not just 15, that some people had been cloned via flashing a ROM yet others who flashed the same ROM hadn't?
Just strange how 1000's on 1000's of people sim unlock there phone without IMEI no. changing that it does for someone else....
everybody please help

Bottom line is , your imei number is on your handset and that is your number, despite what your software says. You can put Android on your phone, but that doesn't make your Windows Mobile Phone an Android phone.
What is it you want exactly ? Help me.....help help help....help me , isn't a question.

What's the actual problem? Your provider thinks you changed phones and doesn't like that, or what?
hmmmmmmm
IMEI numbers used on GSM networks can be isolated so that; when reported stolen, the IMEI number is deactivated rendering the phone bricked regardless if the sim card is changed (aka dirty electronic serial numbers). Check out this site, kinda nifty...Central Equipment Identity Register has some interesting reading that can be done.
please only answer
I have expressed the full description, these are not the answer ,Does anyone can solve this problem ?
do you want your old imei on it???
it can be done with a simple prog

Humbled apologies (1st post and Hi BTW) coz this is probably a repost but with the keywords used I had nearly 900 pages to trawl through. I appear to be a victim of this sites popularity.
I have just been given an SPV M1500 (currently use the M1000) but I cannot get the phone to work.
With Sim in (Orange PAYG) - phone boot info is
R = 20000
G NONE
D 1.11.00 WWE
Identity model number = PH10D
No progs relating to the phone work either - sim manager, phone app, the 'start'/'end' call buttons etc don't do anything when pressed.
Full device Info
Op ver = 3.11.1.167
ROM ver = 1.11.00 WWE
ROM date = 01/27/05
Radio ver = 20000
Protocol ver = NONE
ExtROM ver = 1.11.167 WWE
I have not tried to flash the ROM or upgrade or change anything - it was given to me like this.
Is there any way of getting the phone to work?
Many thanks,
Scott
Well no-one else has replied, so I'll add my thoughts...
On the device information page, I take it there's an IMEI item and value (don't post the number).
I see you have a couple of options, neither of which should screw anything up if done correctly:
Try unlocking - I have an o2 (unlocked) xda2i - PH10C - guess this wouldn't hurt.
Reflash in the absence of being able to do anything else..
I used the Deathnoise ROM with complete success, but the Pietsukkel ROM is a newer one.
Just my thoughts, I'm by no means an expert!
My device info for interest:
ROM ver = 1.11.00 WWE
ROM date = 01/27/05
Radio ver = 1.04.00
Protocol ver = 1337.42
ExtROM ver = 1.11.171 WWE
Kevcal,
Many thanks for the reply.
Can't say I noticed an IMEI number but I think I took the stats without the sim in...
From looking at outher device info, it appears my radio and protocol values are wrong, for some reason.
I've seen a thread about unlocking it so I could try that I suppose.

Are these used to reflash the unit?
Out of curiosity what does reflashing do?
Would I need to reflash before unlocking or doesn't it matter?
Thanks again,
Scott
Hi Scott,
Mine was unlocked already before I reflashed (bought the unit off a friend for 30 quid), but I don't think it makes any difference..
Well if the sim wasn't in it, then that's why no EMEI number.
Unlocking is probably pointless, I just wondered if something was corrupted and unlocking might help..
Yeah, your radio and protocol versions do look very 'different' to mine
Personally I'd have a go at reflashing - follow the instructions as per relevant threads on this forum as anything like this has a risk attached to it (ie ext power, patience, etc) . As I said, I used the deathnoise rom a fair time ago and it's been fine...
