Not sure what I did o my Tilt... - Tilt, TyTN II, MDA Vario III General

I hate for this o be my first thread on here, but I rendered my Tilt unusable and after searching around I can't find any information on how to fix this.
Last week I dropped my my Tilt, the battery fell out, and when I turned it back on all the settings had been reset to default. I was trying to fix this today and had just gotten around to reinstalling HTC Home when things started getting buggy. It said I didn't have enough memory, but there was pretty much nothing visible in file explorer for me to delete and I was unable to open "remove programs." I tried to just do a hard reset but being an idiot I guess I misunderstood the directions and nothing has been working since.
The first thing I saw was the tri-color screen with "Serial" at the bottom and "KAIS1*0 MFG, SPL-1.0.Olipof, CPLD-8" up top in the red. When I hit the soft reset button I et he AT&T screen and the regular numbers in red but it stalls there. I can get back to the tri-color screen by soft resetting while holding down the power and camera buttons, but otherwise I always soft reset to the AT&T screen and stall there. Can anyone tell me what I might want to do? Thanks.

By "stall" how much time have you given it? The first boot after a hard reset is always going to be much longer

You have just Bricked Your Phone. But I think you can Recover. Press and Hold Down the Caera And Power Buttons and Stick yourstylus in the Soft RESET Hole. Hold Them And See if you get back to the Tri-Colour Screen. If you can then Bonus And you may be able to recover.

It's definitely 100% stuck at that screen, I left it for 15+ minutes.
I really hope its not bricked I CAN get back to the tri-color screen...
Edit: I just realized that it flashes "No Image File!" right before going to the tri-color screen.

Do you see "USB" at the bottom of the bootloader screen if it is connected to your PC when you turn it on?
You also have the option of trying to flash a new ROM using a microSD card.

That was going to be my next Step. If you can See USB when you plug it into your computer You are in luck. Also, DO you have an MicroSD Card?

Actually I haven't had a chance to connect it to my PC yet, I'm not at home. I also have never flashed a different ROM onto it or done anything that should void the warranty so I'd be really surprised if I was able to brick it this easily.
Edit: I should be back at my PC later in the week so I'll try that, thanks. I also DO have a micro SD card.

Then all is not lost. Let us know what happens when you get to a PC with a Sync Cable.

Alright, will do, thanks for your help!

Actually it looks like your device is HardSPL'd so your warranty is VOID. But I don't think that is your problem. It looks like this is something your going to be able to fix as suggested once you get to a computer. Many devices have been saved from this point as long as you take your time and be very careful on what you do. Esp if you have to get in useing the command line.

urgent please help -screen issue

Hello,
I've had my tilt for less than a year now. Today, my screen, when I turned it on, shook and while it was shacking, it was showing multiple lines on the screen. At the end, the screen was complete white. I can still make/receive calls, however, I wouldn't know what's going on since the screen was white. It seems to me it was a loose connection???? It got me extremely worried. I took off the battery, made a hard-reset, tried to physically move the screen, non worked. all of a sudden, the screen was fine. Later today, it happened again.
Can anyone please explain this problem to me and how to fix it. I would really appreciate that...
Thank you
Not sure what "shacked" means.
But given you are under 1 year, you probably have a warranty. Would be best to try and get a warranty exchange.
To have you dig around inside checking connection and voiding your warranty, would not be wise with an active warranty.

Ahh Booo.
Ok, Find mikechannon's disassembly guides and wiggle all your connections. Sounds like a loose connection to me.
Hello,
Thanks for the reply, I dismantaled my device and made sure all the connections are fine. The problem still appears....
Ok Next Thing it, The LCD panel is "dieing" you will probably need to replace it.

oh damn
I noticed that when it happens, if I touched the OK and the end call button together, it would sometimes solve the issue. I would have to do it several times though. Is that any hint? are there screen related connections underneath those buttons?
Thank you for your continuing support, much appreciated!
OK, I've noticed that once I click on the call button, the white screen shows up. As I said, I dismantled my device and checked all the connections. However, I didn't go further than the 15th page, i didn't go further because I though that it wasn't necessary.. That's the websites of the tutorial I followed:
http://www.mikechannon.net/PDF Manuals/Replacing the LCD on a Kaiser.pdf
So the two connections I made sure they are properly in was the small and big one only like in the picture below....

Those connections you have pointed out in those pictures are the keyboard ribbon connections....I think you might have to dismantle a bit further to get to the screen.

OK, I went further and was able to see the screen ribbon. I made sure the connections are in tight. However, after putting everything back, the problem still persist. Now, I'll be more than happy to buy a new screen IF it solves the problem... Please correct me if i'm wrong, doesn't seem more like a connection problem; maybe the chip that holds the ribbon cable is loose? In this case, it would need soldering???
Moreover, I noticed that the screen ribbon is underneath the talk button. Like I said before, touching the talk button solves the white screen*. Isn't that more proof that its not a screen issue?
I am very grateful for any advice...
Thank you
* Before completely dismantling the phone, it used to be touching the talk button brings the white screen problem, now its the opposite

Broken USB & bootloader broken, where to go next?

I just got back from holiday, and whilst on holiday i was using the ear phones & music player on the phone. I made the mistake of sitting down, catching the ear phones plug & bending it whilst it was plugged in. This has damaged the USB port. It still charges, but the ear phone/connectivity pins have been broken within the phone.
Too make matters worse, i reset the phone soon after (soft reset) only to be greeted with the screen below. I have tried a hard reset, loading the bootloader (camera, power & reset buttons) and every other combination of buttons iv found on the internet. So far nothing has helped/changed it. The screen doesnt rotate with the keyboard, and the off button doesnt work. (turns phone on, but not off).
I am tempted to send the phone off to HTC, as it is under warrenty but i dont know whether the fact it has a custom ROM on will effect it at all. iv had minor problems with the screen i would ask them to look at aswel.
Would a broken USB be fixable under warrenty? Then would a custom ROM (even if it doesnt boot) cause a fuss? Then finally, is there anyway to flash a new ROM to the phone without using the USB card?
many thanks guys, any advice is appreciated

iv read up on flashing a new rom via my sd card, but i am really struggling to find a the .nbh file (which i then rename). I dont spose anyone can link me to a standard .nbh file could they? Hopefully this will enable me to get it next to standard prior to sending it off to HTC.
thanks guys
if its an .exe rom update, use winrar to extract it and there you'll find the .nbh
I had the same problem, broken usb on at&t tilt, flashed a shipped rom and got a new device via a warranty exchange. I couldn't get the SPL back to original but the guys at the device support center didn't notice.
thank you for the reply mate, was just what i needed!
Unfortunatly it didnt work, and even having put the file on my SDcard and resetting the phone it still boots to the tri colour screen. Got my hopes up, as the phone did load the file and run through it...only for me to reset it and it go back to the tri colour screen.
Will the HTC device centre likely accept it all the same?
cheers guys
Tried it again, this time resetting it, loading up from the SDcard then taking the card out before resetting. Now im getting:
'' Upgrade ROM code error Please try again ''
RUUNBH has also appeared in the top right hand corner, with the same tri coloured screen.
As this is not covered by warrenty (spoke to HTC today) im a bit worried about what i can do. Does anyone have any ideas i could try?
thanks

EMERGENCY! reset completely resets phone! erases contacts etc!

WTF?! starting yesterday, every time my phone resets it completely restores my phone as if it's the first boot everytime! It's happened with 2 different roms. I'm eligable for an upgrade but I'm trying to hold out for the touchpro2 for att to come out... please advise!
WTF?!? starting today, i can no longer use my mind reading skillz!!!
plz post more information, ESPECIALLY when starting a NEW thread, ESPECIALLY when this is a common problem with quite a few new WM6.5 ROMs and ESPECIALLY because there is a known workaround listed in the FAQs of the affected ROMs. have you read those FAQs? have you read the threads for the ROMs?
Yes I have oh mighty computer nerd that sits at a keyboard and spits out insults so he feels better about himself! Turns out I have to get into a bootloader and run some program except that I also can't get into bootloader by holding down camera and power buttons.. another problem I've searched but found no answer to. Also after checking the kaiser FAQ and the FAQ for the rom I'm using I couldn't find the answer to this problem.. would love to try :
Procedure:
1. bring the device to bootloader.
2. Launch ActiveSync on PC
3. Go to connection settings
4. Uncheck the Allow USB Connection
5. Now, run mtty1_1_.42_538 on PC.
6. CMD>task 29
7. Flash the ROM of your choice.
And, Voila!!! the device is back to stable condition. (I hope)
As my device is running now on my own cooked ROM for the past few hours and no prob at all......
but like I said I can't get into bootloader. If anyone else has any ideas or can link me to a solution, I would love nothing more than to be proven an idiot and get my phone up and running.

Why in the heck would anyone come HERE with a Heart Attack Emergency...first they would have to do a search and read 75 pages of information about heart attacks, then, after having attempted 1934 different variations of CPR, the poor f***er is dead!!! Heck, all we had to tell him was "You can't do CPR on a duck."

help! i broke my fone!

i was flashing with a rom and i gotted bored so i turen off my computer now phone wont work adn idk how to fix cuz now i want phone for the phone to mak ework. i need phone to make my calls
how do i fix?
wats the point of flashing it just break my fone and why want to break phone anyways?
Assuming that you are flashing through your computer, if you turn off your computer then the phone cannot get all the data needed to successfully flash.
You'll most likely need to do this.
Power your computer back on.
Power your phone off and have the usb cable plugged in.
Hold the volume down button and press the power button (leaving the volume down button pushed) until you get tri-color screen and it should say USB at the bottom.
Flash the phone as you normally would.
Make sure to pay specific attention to all steps listed in the stickies when flashing your rom and never power down the data source.
Don't ask "what's the point in flashing", since the only reason your phone is messed up is because you screwed up and didn't follow the instructions.
You got bored during the flash and turned your computer off? It only takes a couple minutes!

people that post like you make me want to go clean IN on you. But if you spent all day helping those that may have made small mistakes (like you never had) you wouldn't have a life. So it doesn't happen often. I just chose to acknowledge your ignorance (as i see it)
time to help someone waisted. spent to put them down...hope you got your phone fixed....
If you look at my posts, you will see I try to spend quite a lot of time helping people. But you chose to judge somebody based on one post.
The post above mine already told him how to fix it, so I didn't see the need to rehash.
Also, so many people on here spend tons of time making the stickied guides, detailed instructions in the individual ROM threads, FAQs, etc. that its a bit ridiculous when someone doesn't spend 2 minutes to read them, and then breaks their phone and asks silly questions like "what's the point in flashing".
I really hope this is just a troll post...

Agreed, this is kind of ridiculous. Even if this person had never performed a flash before, there is a progress bar displayed on the PC screen. It takes literally less than 5 minutes to flash. If this person got that bored in that amount of time, then he will probably be too bored to read the replies here to solve the problem.
It's like he's taken A.D.D. to the extreme.

HAHAHAHAHAHA, you got BORED?? oh man.... way to go brother. i was gonna tell you how to fix it, but im wwaayy too bored
Ohhhhh boy..... Alright... If you got bored and turned your phone off WHILE it was flashing then it's nobody's fault but your own that you "borked" your phone...
Take the battery out and then put it back in. Turn it on and it "SHOULD" go to a tri-color screen known as the bootloader screen.
While it's in this screen, connect it to your computer and proceed to flash the FACTORY STOCK ROM for your phone. This should fix your phone...
That being said... Try to have a bit more patience and not get so "bored" while it's flashing. If you want to keep your phone as a functional phone and not a paperweight, you'll follow instructions next time...
Now... Before you get flamed any further...

Galaxy Tab Back to Froyo STOCK from GB Stock

I think I've Bricked to completion now!
I have been using Overcome ROM and had issues with battery performance and other items. So I decided just to go to stock GB. Well I did and I thought to myself, why not get really good battery use and go back to Froyo. So I downloaded from samfirmware.com the JM2 ROM. Well, I did just that, using Odin 1.7 and it showed "PASS" in green. Normal pit file and reset partition checked.
Will not turn on at all and won't even go into "Download".
Besides the obvious "BRICK OF THE YEAR AWARD" replies, does anyone have any help they can lend?
I'm not the one with the answers, but I casually saw these two posts hours ago:
How to unbrick tabs:

This unlocks bootloaders so your SamFirmware.com rom won't brick you:

Thanks for the help, with the link you provided. I called the guy that I got my simple mobile phones from(and my tablet sim from, too) and he said he could fix it. So I left work immediately. Well after about 10 minutes, he said, "Here you go, the LCD screen is fried"
So I'm really bummed, but I'm also hopeful cause I can get a new LCD installed from ubreakifix.com. They are the same people that I got the new 3.5mm jack and repaired the Tablet, just about 30 days ago. So even though I'm bummed, cause I just got it fixed, I'm very hopeful that I can get it fixed, I just have to come up with some money for the part.
Can you try plugging it in the Computer and wait for while and see if anything shows up?
When i soft bricked my tab after a failed odin attempt it wouldn't turn on or nothing. I left it plugged into the computer, started to youtube a bit and after sometime pasted a phone and pc screen popped up.
Try it because if the lcd screen fried i would think the LED buttons would atleast light up if it was on.

Looks like you're not very lucky with your tab.
Then again you're lucky you have this kind of service (ubreakifix) in the States, coz we're stuck with the overly expensive regular services from companies like Samsung, Sony Ericsson, Motorola and so on, and they not only fix nothing but also charge you for that. I wish there were alternative services like this here too.
Hey thanks you all! I'll attempt plugging the unit into the laptop tonight and pray something happens.
I've actually connected the unit to Odin and Odin recognizes the unit, by show the COM:0, but I'll try the laptop at home. This all failed at the office PC.
Yah try that first because if loading a new rom doesn't do anything then yah something else is wrong.
So atleast then you know its hardware not software. If odin recognized the phone then there is hope. There are times the tabs go into what's we call a coma state and it usually clears up by loading a new rom. So atleast odin sees it.
It took like 20min for my tab to turn on with that phone to pc screen. If nothing comes on but odin sees it...load the overcome gbsafe_v5 rom and if you get green light then wait for it to reboot
