Hey there.
I got "faulty" Diamond from a shop. It has one minor issue with screen. They told me that glass broke on the screen and now the screen has two small scratches.
So, where can I buy replacement display/screen for my Diamond and is it easy to change? I asked from a local repair and they told it would cost something like 250€/300$. I tought it's a little bit high prize so I was thinking if you guys could help me out.
on ebay there are diamond screens for sale
Not a very bad price also..

Thanks alot. That is really a decent prize.
Has anyone of you guys changed HTC Diamond screen? Is it a big operation?
Never done it to a diamond.
If I look @ the service manual I hate to say: yes, you'd have to take some time, there are a lot of steps.
But it's doable, just take your time, read the service manual first to know what to expect.
Then carefully take all the steps in the manual to disassemble the device.
replace the screen, and re-assemble according to the service manual.
I wish you good luck!
BTW You could also buy an extra digitiser (touchpad) for if the touchscreen is damaged.
maybe this will help you http://cnn.cn/shop/touch-diamond-digitizer-p-2128.html
Hi be very carefull with the screen , i just changed my lcd at a HTC service center, the screen is composed by 3 parts the digitizer (touch screen), lcd display, and the front cover ( the metal that you see around the screen), all this parts are changed in one piece, you cannot change only the touch screen or the lcd because, it can be done without damaging the lcd. Dont buy from ebay only the touch screen because you wil and up breaking your phone.
Ps the screen ( front cover, touch screen, lcd display) cost me 110 euro.
Here are some pictures of my old screen.
Thank you all, for your replies. I've ordered the parts and should get those by the start of next week. I think I'll manage to do it, didn't seem to be that hard.
Thanks again.

Were you sucessful changing the digitizer?
Did you changed only the digitizer or the lcd-screen with the digitizer, because lucian777 said thats only possible to change the complete part?
Google in Ebay. I saw an offer for 45 €. Regards

Thanks for your reply.
I allready have found many cheep offers for a digitizer.
But my question is whether it's possible to change only the digitizer and not the hole part consists of digitizer and lcd screen...???
Hey,
Just looking for some advice where I should go for a cheap solution on how to fix my phone. Basically, everything still works great! Apart from the big crack, the screen doesn't seem to have been damaged (eg. All the pixels look fine, touch still works, only glass/plastic panel is cracked)
I'm actually really impressed by how it took such a hard hit and the device works fine, the screen didn't even smash! Basically it nudged in between my car seat where you close the door, didn't realise it fell out my pocket and closed the door (you could imagine it would be a hard hit) and the phone lives.
If I just needed the glass replaced, can it be done DIY? Or should I not bother and give it to a service centre? I got it from 3 but I know they'll probably overcharge me for something like this..
Any suggestions welcome, thanks!
if the damage is only to the exterior screen then you may want to consider getting this:

be carful! the screen from my firlfreidns diamond is broken too and I had ordered one of those touchscreens... but the screen which comes has no "window" for the frontcamera and after disassembling the phone I saw that it is NOT POSSIBLE to remove the touchscreenglas from the frame.
Replacement LCD & Digitiser
I recently replaced an lcd and digitiser on a HTC Touch Diamond. I bought the complete screen (lcd & digitiser) as one pre-assembled unit from a guy on Ebay (£34.99). Fits straight into the front of the unit frame. I don't think you can remove just the digitiser because it is stuck onto the LCD, and the LCD itself is very fragile. Disassembly is fairly straight forward if you've got the right tools.
Thanks for all your help guys! I've just been bogged down with work so havn't been able to get back here for awhile.
I've taken some time to look into the webiste and others, decided to just order it off ebay in the end anyways. However, taking note from the previous 2 posts, would I be wasting my time ordering just the digitiser itself? I would assume that's what HerrVorragend also meant by "that it is NOT POSSIBLE to remove the touchscreenglas from the frame."
If so, why do they bother selling them online separately? I guess I won't really find an answer, just seems stupid to me. Anyways, guess I'm stuck purchasing both LCD + Digitiser but as a final question, does anyone have any guidelines as how I should replace this myself? I'm very paranoid about this sort of thing because it's only 1 month old, however, I have also replaced an LCD on my old Nokia 6280 before using a step-by-step picture guide online.
Don't think I'd have much luck finding one for this model, hey.. haha.
Once again, thanks!
Double posted, sorry.

If you google for HTC Diamond Service Manual, that will help greatly with assembly and disassembly - there are also a couple of videos on Youtube. From my experience the most tricky part is re-connecting the two flex connectors when you re-install the main board. I use the back of a pair of tweezers to slide underneath the connector carefully. If you are nervous about doing it and happy to cover postage costs, I can replace the LCD for you - PM me for details and I'll see what i can do.

Hi,
Last night I knocked a small table and my girlfriends phone and a remote for the TV fell off.
We noticed that her phone now has a ring of black dots on the screen, mostly visible with a white background (E.G websites) but also from the home screen and the like.
We think she's cancelled her phone insurance, as she's never had a payment out to the company.
Can anyone tell me if its a Digitizer (What is one of these? Is it just the touch screen sensitive part of the phone?) Or the actual LCD Screen itself?
If you click on the photo it will load a larger image
Thanks for any assistance, kinda annoyed about this and wondering if I can repair myself with the parts on ebay. Or does anyone know how much HTC Charge to repair similar? Either in $USD, £GBP or €Eur, I can convert and get a ball park figure.
Hi
First of all is the phone still in warranty? If so take it back to an HTC dealer they should repair it for you for free. TD2 screens are not very good and it's a common fault. ( i had to have mine repaired after just only 3 weeks! )
The TD2 screen is made out of 2 parts, The touch screen or the 'digitizer' as you call it and a normal LCD screen underneath. You need to establish which has gone faulty.
If the touch screen still operates normally i.e the screen does not lock up or freeze and allows you to navigate normally then its the lcd screen below. If the touch screen is faulty one good way of checking is to put a piece of tape over the damaged area and try to lift it up a little to see if the marks / dots disappear and functionality can temporarily be restored.
Its hard to tell from your picture which it is..... sorry
I'm not sure how much a replacement by a dealer would cost, but i'm sure you can replace either yourself. ebay is a good place to look
Hope this helps.
I've had a reply from HTC UK who said the following:
That looks like there are a bunch of very small cracks in the screen. the black stuff is likely the Liquid Crystal from inside the display that has leaked out. If the dots get larger then it would definitely seem that the screen has got some cracks in it.
if this is the case, the standard charge for replacing the LCD is around £180 as sadly it is all one complete unit on the diamond 2, so it is not just the LCD underneath that needs to be replaced, but the whole screen assembly including the touchscreen layer and the actual LCD.
I hope this information helps you to make up your mind.
best regards,
Pete W

I'll see if I can find any HTC Dealer who will send it off on my behalf, but may just end up buying this: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/LCD-Screen-Di...UK_Mobiles_Accessories_RL?hash=item588362a12d
Hi mate,
had the same problem...
the item you psetd from ebay is not the one you need to change.
you need a digitizer, not an lcd screen.
i got one from ebay (http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItemVersion&item=290376721935&view=all&tid=393718237019), it includes both the lcd and the digitizer, you can check ebay to find other auctions offering the digitizer only.
you can change the digitizer on your own if you don't mind loosing the waranty of your phone.
cheers
Hi,
I had already found this: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Touch-Screen-...UK_Mobiles_Accessories_RL?hash=item5882e7ef74
Will buy in a bit, funds are a bit short today.
The Touch Screen's functionality hasn't changed at all though, no sticking buttons or anything. So I suspect that its the LCD Screen thats damaged but will follow you're advise as you're going to have more experiance than me (and its the cheaper part to begin with!)
Scrap the above post.. my g/f has just told me that the dots on her phone are bigger/worse. Looks like its the LCD Screen afterall
i still believe it is not the LCD.
the digitizer is actually sitted on a glass, and the LCD is below that. it is very difficult to harm the LCD. i also though it was the LCD (at least i wasn't sure which was broken) so i ordered both of them.
if you disasseble the phone you will be sure if it is the LCD or not.
i vote for the digitizer
good luck, if you need any help, i'll be pleased to help you..
Just to update, A few days after I posted and got helpful advice on here.. she called me up to say the dots have disappeared, and they have still gone now a few days after.
She said she put it in the office where she works, under a printer paper tray, and the office was warm. Something has (maybe only temporarily) fixed it.
I´m having the same exact problem my nephew dropped my phone, i already dissemble it because i was not sure of the lcd type, but when i looked at the digitizer i didn´t see any dots, so i´m not sure what to repair, TS or Digitizer, i allready tried with the tape to pull the digitizer, when it was apart i couldn´t see anything on the lcd no marks at all, opinions please.
cheers
Well F**K me! just bought a second hand diamond 2 to replace my xperia...
...seemed to work great checking it out... went home with the phone in my pocket... and as soon as I turn it on the touch screen doesn't work
dissected the whole phone only to discover the digitizer is glued to the bezel!
I ordered this from Ebay, will update if I got it working with the brand new housing + digitizer: http://cgi.ebay.it/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=380166349182&ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT
fingeres crossed
Please report back here on this thread if it works

If you can make some photos of the digitizer and the lcd dissasembled maybe, but It seems unlikely to break the lcd when you didn't completely trashed your digitizer.

Also the LCD didn´t had any marks at all, but i´m going to buy the TS+LCD and replaced by parts first the lcd because it´s a lot easier to replace then if the problem persists the TS.
I will post the result later when i get the parts to replace.

Can anyone confirm the above link as being both Lcd and Digitizer? I'm sure it doesn't mention it in the listing but the picture looks like it's showing both connectors.
Most likely only the LCD that's my conclusion if you look at the sellers store.
But to be sure e-mail the seller and ask.

Soooooo, as I've already posted here, My digitizer was busted on the phone I just bought... what I didn't tell was that I ordered a digitizer, then checked if I could remove it easily...came to the conclusion that I couldn't... and ordered a digitizer+housing so I could easily fit it on.
the mail brought me the digitizer today, and while knowing a better solution was on it's way I couldn't resist and try if I could make it work.
Turns out it super easy to seperate the digitizer from the bezel using a hairdryer (softening the glue) and a knife:
Take your phone apart, just the 4 screws, click the plastic center off it. Remove the digitizer cable, the touchscreen cable and the speaker cable.
now you are able to remove the green plate which holds all chips and stuff.
underneath that is the screen, lift it up gently going under it from the gap the removal of volume buttons leaves, put it away safely.
Now remove the speaker, the buttons under the zoom bar, and the power button(don't forget the the power button, and rubbery thingy that falls out of the bottom, the hole needs to be at the bottom when putting it back in).
your phone should be completely empty by now... just the front and the digitize glued together.
make the front of the phone reaaaaaaaaaallllly hot, put the knive between the metal and the digitizer (I started at the part where the zoombar is) and gently push it between the two parts... (from the inside of the phone to the oudside). Now just keep the whole thing above the dryer to keep it warm and slowly slice your way around the phone (no secret wires are there that you can cut through).
I used some random glue I had lying around to glue the front back to the new digitizer... perfect!
so the screen is like new now
ps bought this digitizer: http://cgi.ebay.nl/Touch-Screen-Dig...wItemQQptZPDA_Accessories?hash=item45eed6effc
Thanks for that jodeltje.
It sounds exactly the same as when i replaced the digitizer on an Omnia. Really not as hard as one might imagine. Taking your time and being careful are the most important things.
Hey guys,
I came into same boat last night.
Dropped my T-Mobile MDA Compact V from 2.5ft table, Backwards (Not towards LCD) and now it has black dots on screen. I guess the LCD has pressed backwards by chip sets.
Here is a screenshot.
I think its LCD damaged but I don't have cash to replace nor device warranty.
Do you think the problem solves eventually? Coz once I had dropped sony mobile and it too had same issue but solved after many days.
Hopefully it solves.
BTW; does LCD affixed to Digitizer? by seeing service manual, it doesn't look like it is. And I afraid to get cheap hongkong LCD screens for about 30$ since they won't be true quality display. i.e blueish.
Thanks...
Best Regards
hello CRACING,
sorry about what happened to you...
from the picture i can say that you have a problem with the digitizer...
your LCD is ok.
i tend to have this problem over and over again the last 1,5 years... i replace the digitizer (or the glass on which the digitizer is attached to) every 3-4 months..
yes the ones you get from ebay are not that good quiality, but well it keeps the phone working...
if you need assistance on replacing the digitizer, i can help you, by providing pictures and istructions...
cheers
Hello,
What a surprise, my HD2 screen broke himself. It was on the table then "schlink" .... and during 10 minutes, several cracks appeared to finally this look like the attached picture
Anyway, I'm looking to fix the broken part but i'm not sure to buy the right one and to follow the good tuto for fixing it.

Great Thank you,
For the moment, I called HTC and they said there is "No Warranty" for a broken screen.
I called my phone operator and same answer, no warranty without mobile insurance.
I called my bank insurance and they are agree to handle the repair cost or the replacement if too many damages. With no excess !
Only the glass is broken, the touch screen is still responding and "working"
hi all,
i got a bargin latly and have now got a note but the main donside to this is that is has a chip/crack on the edge of the screen near the menu button.
i need to know anyone oppinion if i can get away with just repacing the digitizer or wil i have to repace the full lcd aswell, im really low on cash now but iv been checking ebay and heres what i found
digitizer - £8.95/$13.89
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Front-White-Digitizer-lens-Glass-Screen-For-Samsung-Galaxy-Note-i9220-N7000-/300733099033?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item460516ec19
full lcd + digitizer - £118.04/$138.24

iv added the pics bellow and would love feedback to see what is the best situation for me. my so called local samsung repair centre who carnt even fix phones propperly (feedback from alot of people with broken screens) said that i have to replace it all and they quoted me £180.
please let me know guys
Ive seen worse
A simple digitizer replacement should suffice, theres numerous how to videos on you tube.
Just take your time and do not rush it, Also, Dont skimp on the price, If you get a cheap aftermarket digitizer, the performance might not be as good as a genuine one.
Finally, once you get it fixed, There is an app that can tune the sensitivity so you can get it perfect I think its called screentuner im not sure, google it !

thanks man really appreciate your help i didnt realise if i got a cheaper one would make it work crap. how much would you say to speand roughly?
btw i kno it isnt the worst but i ike my phone to be in mint condition especialy as i get bored very easy then it ends up in the mp withing 2 months lol
im not saying buy a really expensive one and get ripped off, I just mean dont buy one made from cheap parts, Like a chinese one.
If you could afford it, Buy genuine, If you cant, buy a recommended one, Check the sellers feedback and scour the internet for recommendations, There may even be some in the accessories section
EDIT: Im unsure whether the amoled screen is an all in one screen, Meaning the screen also recognises the touch and there is no digitizer, Does your phone respond to touch ?
Look at this i found on ebay - http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Outer-Len...arts_Tools&hash=item20c7b38727#ht_2782wt_1037 It is just the outer glass screen, So if you get this, It wont affect the touch response :good:
I understand that it would affect the sale price, but be careful as I've found the most difficult thing to do is to separate the digitizer from the LCD screen without patience. The safest route would be to get the Digitizer + LCD costs, but ofc it costs ridiculously higher than just the digitizer.
For howto videos, search for "Galaxy Note Disassembly" on YouTube.
Yeah +1
Upon some more searching it seems like a really tricky job, Some say impossible, The choice is yours really, Try it and hopefully save your self some money, Or take the hit and get the whole package - Screen, Glass, digitizer ect.
You could also look at some sort of glass crack repair kit, Like they do on car windscreens, Its only a little crack where the soft keys are so its not disrupting the view of the screen, And it might just save some £££ and a lot of hassle too
again thanks guys,
the thing is all aspects of the screen are fully functioning. it did get it at a very good price i will admit it was cheap but it was only because it was too big for the women who had it previous and cex offered her £190 but wouldnt take it because o the crack!
im all for making sure my device look good i know you can say it doesnt ook bad but its just if it was cheap enough to fix i will do it. or if i end up putting it in the MP in a few weeks when i bored it can either buy and throw in the digitizer or the full pakage.
over than that this is why i posted iv never dont it before and iv sceen my mate do his galaxy s1 but thats it lol
