I installed the nice comm mgr that has the 3G on/off, etc...
However, every time I power the phone on, the WIFI function comes enabled, even tough I had it disabled when powered down the phone. Does anyone have any hints? Thanks

I think I must have changed a setting. My media net Edge connection stays on. If I restart the phone Edge (wap.cingular $20 plan)is not connected and no programs are loaded. If I check the weather (HTC Home screen) it connects using Edge. When I first got the Kaiser I thought it disconnect from Edge after the weather download. Now Edge stays connected. Any ideas what I might have changed. I have stopped all programs and it still stays on. I can stop it using comm manger Data Connection. (everything else works great, TomTom GPS, wifi etc.) Would prefer not to do hard reset since everthing else works. Waiting for ATT to turn on 3G in Denver in 4 days.
I have this situation and not sure if someone can help me out. Thanks in advance.
I turn on the WLAN connection on my ATT Tilt then I turn off the phone before I go to sleep.
When I turn the phone back on, it tries to connect any available wifi signal (I also turn off my wireless router at night).
Is it a way to disable the TILT automatically tries to connect to the wifi signal upon the phone is booted up?
Thanks.

Click to collapse
I thought so too . but I was hoping to set the registry for this matter.
Thanks
Well... there is a setting to keep the wifi connection on, even while sleeping. But theres no such thing as dont connect when the device wakes up, especially when its enabled to connect
is there a way if any program needs connection the wifi to turn on and after exit of the program the wifi to turn off (not waiting 2-3-4min if there is no usage to turn off then)?
I have turned off the wifi for the battery life reasons, so when I need it any time I have to go into comm.manager and so on....
I'm actually using phoneweaver (not free), you can set profiles to switch on/off wifi at specific times. I can turn wifi on, but for some reason can't turn it off automatically, guess I'm a bit dumb to set it correctly, but it works for me.
there's another software called wifilocations (free), it seems to turn on/off wifi based on cell id's, haven't tried it but might work for you
I personally have set a hardware button to act as Wifi on/off (with AEBPlus) and just toggle it with a double press when I need it and when I'm done.
There is a wifi button on the keyboard (right arrow button)
True, I usually forget about that one. But then, I don't want to open the phone to turn Wifi on/off.
Prepare for something magical...
Ok so this isn't magical, in fact, it's just another .cab that you can remapp a button to, that's what I have done and I just toggle wifi on and off using it. Here is the .cab.
Somewhat related but does anyone know if it's possible to turn the phone off but leave wi-fi on ? If I'm at home, I want to have Skype running and receive calls like general mobile calls. Would also like to be available with Messenger too

Download KaiserTweak, it has an option to keep wifi on during standby.
Perfect thanks however .......
Anyone know how I can run Skype and/or WLM in background ? They seem to shut when I click X on them

Check you don't have a 3rd party program or HTC task manager set to "close" instead of "minimize" when tapping X.
I use blackme to turn off the screen on my kaiser. But unlike on my HTC titan blackme also disables wifi when run. Is there a fix or reason for this. I thought blackme only turned off the screen and didn't standby the phone.
use battery status instead. or i just use gs players display off function.
Well I am not using a player while the screen is off. When I log with Navizon I like to turn the screen off to save battery or darken the car at night.
I now have also tried spshutxp and it doesn't keep wifi on either.
So are there not any other options?
the way you would do it is run battery status plug in your today screen. then when navizon is up and running hit the start buttion then hit home screen the on battery status hold the stylus down and go to display off. done.
This doesn't work either. When I turn the screen back on with the power button the wifi icon on the top is not there. After a couple seconds it pops back up.
Anyone else have any suggestions. Or am I over looking somethings in my previous tries.
i am also particular about having the option to leave wifi connected after putting the device to standby but it never really worked for me with wm6 and wm6.1 and i haven't tried any wm6.5 yet...
BUT!!! the ROM i am currently using (HyperDragon IV Rhodium April 10th, 2009 ROM) seems to be able to do exactly what the OP desires
before you go about changing your ROM, have you tried KaiserTweak and/or Advanced Config utilities??? i used KaiserTweak to enable the "Wifi standby mode" option...try this before considering changing your ROM but remember that i attempted enabling this setting in previous wm6 and wm6.1 ROMs and this is the first ROM on which i have observed the feature actually working
i have NOT properly tested this ability...what i did was the following:
1. enabled my wifi and allowed it to connect to my home router
2. on my desktop PC, i set up an infinite ping to my device's IP address
3. on my device, using VM Network Browser's ping utility, i set up an infinite ping to my desktop PC's IP address
4. once i saw the ping replies coming in on my device as well as my desktop PC, i pressed the power button on the right side of the device to put it in standby
5. i observed that the wifi LED goes off but my desktop PC continued to receive replies from my device
6. when i brought the device out of standby after about 30 seconds, i noticed that the wifi icon in the top bar still showed the wifi as connected AND i observed that VM Network Browser had continued to send pings and it continued to receive ping replies from my desktop PC in the duration that the device was in standby
also, using Resco Explorer on my device, i set up a file copy from a network share on my desktop PC and then i put the device into standby. after about 30 seconds, i brought the device out of standby and noticed that my file copy had progressed just fine as if the device never lost the wifi connection
all the evidence seems to point to success in my case
hope the above helps, good luck!
I've just got a Touch Diamond, so I'm pretty much noobie at this. So I don't have any internet data plan from my wireless provider(att), and I don't really want 1 at the moment. With that said, here's my question(s) - When I first turned on the phone, the data connection option was on, so I turn it off. Now that option is greyed-out, or disabled. I read in the manual that you can't turn it back on if you disable it, why is this?
Even though that option is disabled, an "H", or sometimes "3G", still appears on the upper-right of the screen. Apparently the internet still works because I saw the charge on my online att account(I thought I was using Wi-Fi). Can someone who is knowledgeable in these things tell me why?
do a hard reset to fix this
