Hi glowaken !
Turn off the IR port on the XDA and you will be happy!
Check the following registry entry:
\HKLM\Comm\Irsir1\Parms\Port = 9
After editing the registry it should work.
Cheers,
Dejan
I bought GPS receiver from
http://shop.wangtao.co.uk/info.aspx?ads=gps
I need to disable receiving all incoming beam radio button.
Have u tried that?
Glowaken, go to settings/connections/beams, make sure the box is unchecked, your settings should be com 1 and nmea 4800.
I have recently "upgraded" from xdaII to xdaIIs and I'm having a few problems. I have upgraded the BT stack to 3500 but I still can seem to connect to my tomtom gps. Device sees it but tomtom 3 cant. I'm completely confused by the connection wizard- none of the profiles seems to fit gps. I also dont seem to be able to send or receive files from my old xdaII. What am I doing wrong?
I'm also a little confused about roms. Do I need to upgrade my rom? Is there a simple way avoiding anything too technical (I've read about "country codes" and other wierd stuff). My current config is:
ROM: 1.12.62
Radio: 1.02.00
Protocol: 1337.32
ExtROM: 1.12.178
Could someone please help! I only have a few days to decide if I want to keep it or stick with my xdaII...
Gps's use the serial profile to transmit the data over - its like a virtual serial connection - so you need to tell tomtom to look on a com port AFAIK,.
For eample in my Tomtom list of connections there is one called 'BT on Com6, ' which is the bluetooth comport on my unit.
But there are also listed more com ports...
Com5
Com4
Bluetooth Serial port Com7
The XDA only actually has 1 com port (com1) so any other are virtual ports created by various software, you just need to find out which one is the one for the GPS...
So in "tomtom gps v3.07" I go to the gps tab and by default its set to infrared port. I change to "BT on com6" and click OK. When I restart the program it always resets to "infrared port" even if I try a different port. Really am stuck- never had any problems with my xdaII- just put in BT port and it picked it up automatically...
The problem is it's not always the same com port for different devices - firstly does your unit have the widcoom stack version of are you on the microsoft stack..
Whichever you have you need to find where the BT com port is configured..
On my widcomm i go to 'bluetooth setting' ; 'services' ; "serial port'; 'advanced'
in there it says...
inbound com port : 6
outbound com port : 7
so the incoming com port on my bluetooth is 6 hence the 'BT com port on 6' listed in my tomtom gps.
so you need to find your BLuetooth com port and find out which com port number it is set to. Not sure as to why tomtom gps does not save your settings, the only thing I can think of is becuase it never gets a valid signal from the comport select, and does not save the change unless it does.
Also: I assume the gps unti has a pairing with your XDA unit?
So does the widcom stack work on the xdaIIs? If so where can get it?
Sorry: I cannot be certiain the widcomm works with the IIs, but is can be downloaded from this site if you are willling to try, just do a search oin widcoom, and you will find a lot of entries...
For the MS BT stack; look under start, settings,System tab. There is a icon labeleld Bluetooth settings in there you can see/set the com ports for the bluetooth link. they also need to be enabled witch a check box before they will work...
So on "bluetooth seetings" serial port/advanced I have inbound COM port 5 and Outbound COM port 6. Below it says "Default device for outgoing serial connections: TomTom Wireless GPS. Display the device selection screen the next time an outgoing serial connection is attempted" next to a ticked box. I have tried bt com 5 and 6 in the gps settings and it wont save or recognise either. I can, however, pair and connect to the device in my BT manager but Tomtom doesnt recognise it...
Hmmm - all sound ok to me but I currently use a wired GPS, so I have not actually done it. I'm afraid I'm as stuk as you are now...
Sorry bro- I have sorted this now. Thanks...
For me, I just selected Comm 5 from the GPS status drop down and it works like magic!
Hi all
Just upgraded to Helmi_WM2k5_AKU3.2_32mb_v1.3.2_16mb_bitpool_32mbRamdisk
My new config is now
P H 2 0 B W W E 5.0 4.0 6. 1.3 1.15.00 4
I have got the Phone, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth all working and can see my GlobalSat BT-388 and its Serial interface. But when I try and make a new outgoing or incoming port on com6, I get and error: "The COM port could not be created. Please check settings and try again" - COM7 an 8 work but cant get tomtom to see those ones.
I have soft reset the device and still no luck - Anyone know what I may try to fix as I am trying to pair for tomtom 5.21.
BTW - Hemi fantastic - keep up the good work.
Hi,
have the same problem here, TomTom 5.21 on Helmi AKU26. Bluetooth COM-Port doesnt show up, also some other applications that enumerate the COM Ports dont show it either.
My workaround is to use the GPS Multiplexer from OS (Settings->Connections->GPS). In AKU26 i set up Bluetooth to COM7, set Microsoft GPS to look at that Port with 33600 and set COM5 as new Multiplexer Output Port. Device 10 Seconds of, Softreset and than detected at least TomTom that COM5 and worked.
Thanks MCSchermer....
found the GPS config under the connections section. WM2003SE never had this. Changed the GPS program port to another COM port and then was able to changed the hardware port to com6.
TOMTOM now up and running.
Excellent... now able to drive across town again.
Thanks mate
Hi,
My cradle is broken .I want to activesync with bluetooth.when I do it,the desktop does not recognise my xdaiis.i did enable the blutooth on and ran the bluesoli software on my desktop with the blutooth dongle plugged into the usb.what might be the problem? blutooth file transfer works fine, and private network also works, but my blutooth headphone motorola h-500 just gives out static when i want to make a call.can any one help me plz?

ROM ver-1.02.00
could it be the bluetooth version on the pda?????????
You need to configure ActiveSync to use one of BlueSoleil's COM ports.
configure activesync
How do I do that? can you give a step by step turorial? would appreciate your help.

hi guys,
i have a problem concerning the sync of my x1 via bluetooth connection...means that i can establish a bt partnership. but when i hit "connect via bluetooth" in the x1s activesync it says that it cant establish a connection to a activesync-supporting pc. an wheter i want to establish a bt-partership with another device. when i hit yes i can search for another device. when i search a again for a bluetooth fitted device it (of course) shows me my pc.
the weird thing: at first launch of the x1 it worked via bt!!!
I checked the services:
x1: Active Sync is activated...
in bt-settings on my pc: ActiveSync Bluetooth Service is also activated and OBEX. In the windows mobile device center the setting is: allow connections via: bluetooth. I also can choose IR and COM 3.
i tested if bt works by sending a (jpeg)file from the x1 to my pc...this is no problem.
cant figure the problem out. why can i transfer files but not sync via windows mobility center...crazy crazy...hope you can help me!
thanks a lot guys!
trekkie2003
seems like i have this problem: http://forum.xda-developers.com/archive/index.php/t-347472.html
i have tried to connect with following settings:
PC:
- Windowsmobility center: allow connections via com6
- bluetoothdriversettings: services "ActiveSync Bluetooth Service" is enabled!!! I also added incoming (serial) com connection on port 6 (com6)
X1 activesync: - services enabled: serial connection. Under COM-Connections there is an outgoing connection on com6...
as you can see no service "activesync" in the service list...but as alreade told the service "serial connection"
the problem still exists and active sync on my x1 gives me that error message:
"cannot find an existing bluetooth partnership with a pc that supports activesync..."
hope for some helpful advice...

after numerous faq and forum post i figured out that the service on the x1 has to be "ActiveSync". it wont work with the "serial connection" service enabled! An in my case a only get the activesync service when i choose "allow connections via: bluetooth" in windowsmobile device center... but problem still exists..."cannot find an existing bluetooth partnership with a pc that supports activesync..."
you should not make the outgoing com on the pda
the guides they have here
http://www.geekzone.co.nz/content.asp?ContentId=3163
are still pretty valid seen from the pda's side
or you can google for other guides which step by step explain it on the
vista platform but
your issue is the way you set it up
thx rudegar for your reply and the link...
this was just a try with making an outging port on my pda...there is NO outgoing port added in my pda!!
i only set windowsmobile device center to com3 (allow connections via com3) and the incoming port of the pcs' btstack to com3...checked services on pda and pc...on both sides "active sync" is enabled! but problem still exists...
as my problem unfortunately isnt solved...to make sure nothing is interfering with bt stuff on vista i rebooted my pc. rechecked all settings. WMDC automatically reset the connection to Bluetooth! i changed it again to com3 as my btstack incoming port is also port 3.
i took a screenshot of the settings on my pc...(settingspc.jpg, see attachment)...
as i dont know how to make screenshots of my pda i can only tell you the settings of my pda....so i continued on my pda: active sync=> connect via bt => "error message: cannot find an existing bluetooth partnership with a pc that supports activesync..." => adding my pc to bt devices =>checking services on pda: only serial connection service...re-checked the services on pc... activesync is enabled (as you can see in the image)...
wmdc resets the connection settings to bt on every windows startup to bt!!! i downloaded a guide from toshiba für vista @winmo6. I did it exacetly the way they went through it like me!
btw. tried it also again with com6...but...no way... im starting to get really anoying about this...
I never had any problems with any of my WM 6-6.1 devices on my Vista64 system.. I have bluetooth in "Allow connections to one of the following" selection. No serial ports needed in WM device or in Vista...
But Before you sync, open the Windows Mobile Device Center on your Vista Computer!!!
Now open Activesync in your X1. Then just choose connect by bluetooth in WM Activesync App!!
Good Luck
Stuart
thats the way it worked at first launch!! just activated bt and here we go...no need chang com ports... maybe i should hard reset the x1 but i hate to re-install all programms i have on my device again as PIMbackup only saves contacts, calendar but not installed progams...
Hi
please can somebody explain to me how to connect my x1 via bt
I read many threads and still have a problem
I'm using windows XP SP3
thank you bye
my solution
I'm using ActiveSync over BT (R10 rom, Vista Laptop) but not really without problems...
For the 1st connection X1 never get's connected to Lappi. My Solution:
Make BT on Local Maschine unvisible, then again visible and after that on X1 -> ActiveSync -> Connect over BT.
What I don't like at all, ist that my BT on Laptop has to be visible:/ and compared to Nokia N95 (how there is working BT synch) the ActiveSync on WM6.1 is really crap.
Hope it can help you.
Best,
Mag
I did that but my X1 show me massege that cannot find partnership and I'm sure I have partnership
I use the COM method but I don't know how to select incoming port in my X1 I have only outgoing port
any idea please
same
I had same problem till 1 Week ago. I could not get rid of this message... finally I've flashed my X1 to the latest R10 ROM. Till now it works.
BTW: The R10 Rom is really the fastest I've ever tried on my Xperia (mp4 Videos without played without freezes and lauder music/tones). Maybe it is worth for you to do the upgrade too.
Best,
Mag
Quick reply without reading all your details, but maybe this will help.

I had the same problem with broadcom bluetooth. I downloaded new driver for my PC, upgraded, and after that I saw "activesync" service in my bluetooth services. I set COM (COM6) and synchro works fine now
Try to upgrade PC drivers.
