Disabling autostart for Tomtom v6.010 on Tilt - Tilt, TyTN II, MDA Vario III General

I have installed TomTom v6.010 on my Tilt, everything on the SD card, and everything works ok. My only problem is that whenever I reboot the phone the TomTom app starts automatically.
I checked and there is no shortcut to TomTom in the \windows\startup directory. I read in some other postings that there is a directory named 2577 where there are some files that relate to an auto run. The files that are in that directory are:
autorun.exe-run
ttn.cab
ttn2003.cab
autorun.exe
I tried to just rename the 2577 directory and when I reboot the phone the TomTom app did not autostart. When I tried to run it from the regular shortcut the application started but said it found no maps.
With the 2577 directory name left alone I moved the autorun.exe file out of that directory and rebooted the phone and it did not autostart but when I tried to run the TomTom app it once again said it found no maps.
So my question is what will I have to do to stop the TomTom app from autostarting when I reboot the phone but still run the TomTom app where it finds the map files?
Its like there is something in the 2577 directory that sets the path up for the map files and I don't know what it is.
TIA

just delete the 2577 folder...that what i did...
after a simple search

If deleting that folder doesn't work, go to bluetooth settings, and under the FTP tab, uncheck Enable Bluetooth Explorer.
It sounds random but that seems to fix it.

Thanks to the two posters who answered this request. I did do a search but did not search very well evidently....my apologies to you both.
I deleted the 2577 directory and disabled the bluetooth explorer and everything works well. Thanks again!
and one last question.....what does disabling bluetooth explorer have to do with setting the variable for the location of the maps directory in TomTom? That just absolutely defies any logic!!!! No way would I have ever found that on my own....sheez.

if you enable bluetooth explorer, it adds another "storage card" as bluetooth explorer, and tomtom looks into that "storage card" for the maps. that's the best explanation i can give, sorry

Tomtom6 Autostart nightmare!!!

Hi all, every time I insert my microsd card or reset my kaiser, tomtom 6 keeps autostarting and it is SO annoying. I've exhausted every resource I have and cannot find a solution. I've tried disabling startup items with sktools. I've tried deleting, moving, replacing, and renaming the 2577 folder as well as the autostart file inside it. All this seems to do is break tomtom and render it unable to locate the maps.
I'm going completely nuts, can anyone more knowledgeable help me fix this?
Rename 2577 directory to something else
Seem to remember something about an AutoRun folder it puts in Windows, but might be wrong as theres not one on mine. Maybe thats why mine doesn't autoload?

Delete or rename the 2577 folder.
If this results in TT saying "No maps found" then turn OFF Bluetooth Explorer in CommManager > Bluetooth settings.
Just trust me, I too was going insane trying to figure out this!
Andy.
Try to rename the file start.exe in the root of your card to something else e.g. notstart.ee

Or just delete the start.exe file from the 2577 folder. Tomtom won't automatically start up at reboot, etc.

TomTom Voices HELP on Tilt

Ok, so here's the deal: I finally got TomTom vs 6.032 (8351) working on my Tilt but I do not have any voices selected. Error message is "You did not select a usable voice"
Where do the voice files go in the file structure? What do they consist of? How do I select them?
I see some files in a VOICE folder on my PC (workstation) that has *.vif and *.chk file types, are these the voices?
Please help
prealphageek

Voice files have .chk (actual voice file) and .vif (description) extensions. You can google "free tomtom voices" for some great celebrity voices. Just place the chk and vif file in \voices directory and you will be good to go.
You can also install TomTomHOME on your PC and download/manage your voices.
I had the same issue and a Google result advised to delete the "collected.ini" file after pasting the new voice files into the "voices" directory, then restarting TomTom. This worked like a charm and I now have John Cleese working correctly.
Hope this helps!
yeah john cleese is really the only good celebrity voice, all the others sound like crap/fake
Thanks guys I've got it work working and I'm loving it...
Have any of you guys tried creating your own tt voices? I found these stepshere
Edit or make your own TomTom voices:
1. Download and install VIFTOOL
2. Save voice files to the same directory as VIFTOOL
3. Save voice dataXX.CHK and dataXX.VIF files to the same directory as VIFTOOL
4. Goto Start>Run>CMD
5. In command window type "CD c:\viftool\"
6. In command window type "viftool.exe split dataXX.chk" to extract OGG files from tomtom CHK file.
7. Download Audacity installer - OGG editor
8. Open OGG files (one by one) with Audacity and replace original voice with your voice. Save your edits on exit.
9. Open OGG files (one by one) and replace original voice with your voice.
10. Download and install VifTool2.
11. Start VifTool2, enter file location and compress all OGG files to your own tomtom voice file.
12. Enjoy listening your own voice on your TomTom.
same problem please help

How to save space with TomTom Nav6

Hi all, been lurking here for a couple of years now & found the site invaluable as a source of information about my device's. I have an xda11i & 2 xda orbits. I have a tip for all who use TomTom Nav6 on their device's.
I had a problem where if I entered a postcode into TomTom it would only allow me to use the first 3 digits & then I would have to sort out the rest of the address manually, pointless!
then I read that I needed to move the folder called Zip to the /programs/navigator folder on the device. this though takes up nearly 10mb of space!
here's a way to save 10mb & still have postcode's working.
instead of moving the folder called Zip paste a shortcut to it in the /programs/navigator folder instead.

Forgot to mention you need to rename the shortcut from "shortcut to zip" to "Zip"

Just move all the TomTom stuff from you device to the equivelent folders on your storage card. Redirect the TomTom shorcut in \Windows\Start Menu and you will free up even more space.
Wow, an even better way to save space. Thanks for the heads up
thanks Wizzard

if you have bluetooth folders enabled, tomtom can't see the "ZIP" postcode folder on the storage card or the VOICES folder on the storage card. You can either copy the "ZIP" folder into the Navigator folder in main memory or you can disable Bluetooth Folders (start, settings connections, bluetooth, ftp)
Anyone know if there is a way to "tidy up" you storage card by placing all TomTom Files into one File (called "TomTom" for instance? If so what exactly do I need to redirect?

TomTom 6 Problem

Hello,
Im having a TomTom 6 problem on my ATT Tilt. I am still running ATT Rom. Nothing has really been severly modded on the phone.
I am trying to disable the autostart function on TomTom when I soft reset or insert the micro SD. I have read several posts and tried everything I have seen.
Such as...delete the autostart.exe file, rename the autostart.exe file, delete the 2577 folder, rename the 2577 folder, encrypt the 2577 folder. All of these actions have stopped the autostart feature, however when TomTom is opened, it comes up NO MAPS FOUND.
Any help is appreciated.

is this the purchased version? or did you download some torrent? sounds like it is a torrent but if it was purchased ask for your money back because there shouldn't be a 2577 folder, at least i didn't get one.
I recommend searching tomtom 6032 cab. Install this cab and delete everything else except for your maps from your sd card. After you have that installed you need other software like gpstest, gpsrouter, and quickgps to get tomtom6 working efficiently on your tilt. Here are the steps I have to do:
1)gps router com 4 baud 4800 (this opens your gps system)
2) gpstest basically finds gps satelites
3) open tomtom6
4) open quickgps test and download updates
if tomtom doesn't work after this close tomtom and repeat steps 3 and 4. Also you may want to play around with different settings such as "other nmea gps receiver" set at com 4 baud 4800 and "built-in gps receiver".
Ya its not purchased version. I have several friends with it and they do not have the same problems. However their phones are unlocked, i dont know if this makes a difference. I am using quick gps to keep my GPS location current, and i have GPSgate from franson to turn on the GPS for TomTom. The TomTom program functions normally, everything seems to work except for this autostart feature. Is the .cab you are talking about a free download? Is it a full version? Thanks for the info.
Renaming autostart files will be sufficient.
Some people have downloaded Tomtom legally for the TytnII or have it as an installed file / on the CD with the phone.
This version of TT is a taster version and does not come with any maps !.
If TT cannot 'see' any maps, check that the maps are within the SD cards root directory, if not, then this is the cause of your problem.
Renaming autorun will not 'mess' with the maps ... renaming autorun is often a necessity if you install iGO and TT together as both have autorun files - and iGO does not like it's autorun being renamed
I have tried renaming the autorun.exe but when you open tomtom there are no maps. I have no idea how the two are connected. The maps are in a folder called north_america as soon as i explore to my SD card. also i am not familiar with that iGo program, what does it do?
The autostart & the 2577 folder are part of the installation of TomTom for PocketPC (the software, not the maps). I believe there are several files & folders on the memory card that may be safely deleted. (I deleted them after installation, and am not having issues)... Of course, because I deleted them, I can't check which ones there were, unfortunately. There should be an AutoStart.something or other, an TTN.cab, an autorun.exe, and the 2577 folder that could be deleted after successful installation.
After you successfully install TomTom, you need to start up the program itself, and activate the maps, then the software should see them...

Are you sure that you don't have two folders called voice i.e. voice/voice?
i've just one folder called "voices"..in it i've the files of chiara's voice that i've downloaded from the tomtom official site
The folder has to be in the root of the internal storage and called "Voices"
Then in tomtom you need to select the voice.
I had the same problem with some funny voices. You have to go to the menue and choose the option to show you every language.
You have to create a 'voices' folder under \Program Files\Navigator and place the .CHK and .VIF files in the voices folder and then open up tomtom and choose the voices.
Don't forget the .ini file!!
You put the voices files (.vif, .chk, .bmp) in your "voices" folder AND YOU MUST HAVE the collected.ini file in the same folder.....place the voices folder in the the root of Internal Storage. Appears that the older voice files for TT5 and TT6 needs the .ini file to work (for me anyway!!)
A little question: can be activated the TTS with tomtom? (i've read it's only for PNA devices?)
...i think there is a trick, because currently i am using the ttom tts voices fixed for iGO8 ... they can be used for another app and not for tomtom on the pda?
Damn, collected.ini is the one file I'm missing.. any idea where I can get that?

I don't have this file...can I create it with notepad?
i got it and i hope my way is available to you.
firsr, there are three files of each voice with the name format of data**(** is several numbers)
second, these three files are saved in the folder 'voices', which is in the fold of tomtom file saved in.(for me, that is \internal storage\program files\navigator\)
last, when you run tomtom and change the voice, there will be a prompt indicating whether you will choose the same language, choose NO even you plan to select an english voice.
i am using tomtom 7.450.9028 in diamond.
i created the voices folder and didn't need the collected.ini file for the voices to work, cheers.
TomTom Voices Working
It took me two days to work it out myself. I had no problems with the files themselves, my issue was that I had installed tt7 on my SD card. I re-installed it to the Device and was able to then upload the new voices easily enough.
One tip: I used the "Explore" option in MS ActiveSync to navigate to the correct folder and dragged the voices I wanted over to the folder ("voices") located in the /Program Files/Navigator folder on the device. Full Path: /Program Files/Navigator/voices
Be sure to check "No" when it asks if you want to use the current language, or you may not see your new voices.
The *.vif files are plain text and are interpreted by tt7 to discover the voice's sex and languge. There are three numbers below the data*.chk entry which seem to indicate this and I'm not sure what else. Most of the newer tt7 files I downloaded had three numbers, anyway. The third-party (simulated) celebrity voicesI downloaded did not have these and tt7 seemed to think they were "Chinese" or "Special". It's not really worth it for me to fiddle around with various values in the *.vif files, but someone may wish to tweak them...
Limit?
Is there a limit of the amount of voices stored in the voices folder.
My Navigator only picks up before DATA121. Beyond that it doesnt appear.
I have my TomTom installed on my storage card and voices on my storage card.
