i did purchase a hp ipaq RW 6828 the other day only to realise it came with chineese ROM and am not chineese hence would wish to change it to English
i did follow instructions on this thread on how to change for another model but for the 6828 rom files are different am unable to know which files does what

I have Dutch MDA Vario, so to my mind it would be nice to switch the OS language to WWE. One of the possibe ways to do so is to update firmware with WWE Rom.
But I think there is another one:

there you can download "Add-On language packs for WM2005" (*dll.0409.mui files).
Simply copy these files to \Windows directory and change the language related setting in registry and soft-restart the device.
At least it works on my phone.
P.S.: But I think some files are missing cause several subjects in menus are still in Dutch
French OS to English OS
Hi Alex,
I have an Orange French OS and would love to change it to English. Unfortunately on that link they dont seem to have the French files yet.
Regarding Flashing, could you point me to a thread which explains how to do it? I've looked at a few and someone mentioned that the default English OS is actually in my ROM already?

Guys you can install a QTek or IMate rom.
Those are WWE (world wide English)
So did I!
This method does not require flashing!!!

How can I install it without flashing? Also, as I use Orange and their GPRS network for net access, do you think I will still be able to connect with a differen version of WME?

Upgrade to another Rom.
Look on the FTP for a Portugese Rom, I don't use it, but I know it's there (otherwise contact the XDA member Faria, he certainly can help you out!).

Adding different Languages
is it possible to add another laguage to the english rom ... i want to be able to write to some of my friends in japan in japanese ... simple kana (katakana or hiragana) ... i can do this on my laptop with the laguage and region settings is there something simular to this

i am new around here and i have a lil problem ... i bougth a qtek 9100 and the OS is in german and i am having some dificulties to try and work with it ... so idd like 2 know if it is possible to change the OS language from german " dutch " to english.

Flashing it with any english firmware will do it, if the dutch hardware keyboard is different from the english however, the buttons might not be exact.
make sure its not SIM LOCKED before u put the software on it
Hi i have tired all the solutions on this forum but without success any time i try to upgrade my hp ipaq hw6515 using an upgrade with a different language i get an error saying incorrect language can not upgrade my hp is in italian language i need to get english into it pliz advise

For change Your phone language,
You have to modify the rom file with winhex to match.
A lot of rom midied for different languages change exist,

I just got mine Kaiser today but since i bought it in China so its in chinese but i can't find the language setting in the phone so i was wondering if there's a way to change the language in the phone thank you

must must install another ROM.
