I need to download txt messages to PC what software do i need to do this
do you need to just back them up or you need them to be viewable on PC?
If its just backup you can use a program called PIMbackup it does a few other things aswell as text messages
for full SMS integration within Outlook, you can check out Jeyo Mobile Extender
jeyo mobile extender isnt work properly for me.. is there a prog like this?? and if it doesn't use outlook it will be nice.
( i must study hard for my poor english )

Limited User, Vista 64 and Jeyo?
Hi,
Anyone have Jeyo Mobile Extender working in Outlook 2007, 64bit, on Vista?
It seems to function as administrator, but not as limited user.
I'm in an SBS controlled domain environment here.
Thanks for any help,
Matt
Microsoft sucks like that....or 3rd party vendors need to be reminded programs need to run as users, not local admins...it makes us windows support staff crazy when people request software like this and they have to be given local admin privs or we have to spend days on figuring out what registry edits need to be made and god forbid we have to reimage the system...we're hosed.

Is there anyway at all to backup text message, upgrade your phone and then put them back onto the device when it's updated? I've had a look through a lot of the files but can't seem to find any text messages, just email messages
I have found Jeyo Mobile Extender for Outlook. However, when I start Outlook 2003 it comes up saying the Add-in has fired an error. I think this is because I run Win Vista though.
If Jeyo really is the only/best way to do it, I'll probably just bung in an old HDD, install XP FLP on it and do everything on there inc. the upgrade, unless there is another way?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=59169&highlight= have a look there. Sorry I can't help more.
i'd like to ask, is it safe to assume that these messages are all under windows>messaging, and that we can copy these files to our computer through activesync, and put them back after the upgrade?
will our BA be able to read them as text messages?
Thats the location of the email files yes. I'm not sure if just replacing them will work though, that why I'm probably going for the Jeyo software (and it also does SMS which I what I need).
For me, I use Jeyo Mobile Companion 1.1 for backup my call history & sms. (the stand alone version Not the outlook plug-in, cos in my device the plug-in version is not stable)
backup:
Export >> All (or selection)
restore:
Import >> All (or selection)
Hi all,
please kindly help me out here. I've tried searching numerous times within this forum and I cannot seem to find any solution to my above mentioned problem.
Anyone out there had tried to tranfer SMS from a Nokia 6680 to a HTC TyTN II? I have no idea how to do it. It seems that they are of total different formats. I have tried a number of ways but never succeeded.
The reason why I wanted to transfer all these (1000++) SMS because they are all memorable SMS from my wife since we dated.
Any kind soul out there, please kindly share your ideas. Your efforts will be greatly appreciated.
Thank you so much in advance.
Cheers
eRic
You can try forwarding it to your new pda might take a while, and can be costly. But, if your nokia is pc compatable, try browsing for the sms text document, if you have not already!

All i can say is.... HELP, DONT MOCK
You may be able to save your SMS's to your PC with Nokia PCsync software? Thats all you can really do to save them as there is no way you can really 'import' SMS's into any make of phone. They all store them in their own propriotory database.
Sorry, not sure if anyone else has an idea...
or maybe Jeyo
as it works with outlook, and I know they have a symbian version, the PST file should be the same as the one for PPC as well
So it would be a case of downloading it into outlook from the Nokia and upload back up to your kaiser

I have got the whole folder of SMS from my Nokia6680 copied on my desktop. But somehow I couldn't get Jeyo to read the folder. May I know if there is any settings to adjust in order to read the files?
Thank you so much.

Jeyo can't read the folder if it is on your PC, it's the wrong format. You have to connect it to the Nokia and read them from there.

All messages Mail+SMS are kept in an IMAP file in the Databases directory.

Jeyo is very 'Hit n Miss' with any version of Outlook other than 2007. I have the old 2002 on my PC and it invariably crashes Outlook at startup but works flawlessly with 2007 in my laptop.
Download the Outlook 2007 trial from Microsoft and see if it works with that.
Hi dude,
Can't even get the Jeyo client installed on my N73, I assume Symbian 9.1 is not supported yet - just sent an eMail to the support team to get that confirmed...
I also coulndt find a solution when I migrated to Kaiser from SE M600i.
I was able to take my contacts with me (via syncing with outlook) but not my sms and mms.
Very sad
Wow, guess I am not the only one who face the problem of transferring SMS/MMS from a nokia phone to a PPC.
Cheers

Jeyo Doesnt Help
I installed JEYO SYMBIAN on my laptop and i got all my SMS'es from NOKIA phone to sync with outlook. And then i installed the JEYO WM (Windows Mobile) and tried to sync my KAISER with the SMS directory in the OUTLOOK. BUT SADLY IT DIDNT WORK
It seems JEYO only syncs one way, i.e., it transfers SMS'es from the PHONE to OUTLOOK, but not from OUTLOOK to the PHONE.
So, sadly i think we will have to find another solution to this problem.
Hoping that there is one out there
P.S. Oh yes, and JEYO only supports SYMBIAN S60 and UIQ phones. It doesnt even support the S80 phones (NOKIA COMMUNICATORS)

Dude, you REALLY need to stop posting stuff when you don't know what you're talking about. He was asking where the PPC stores mail and SMS. That is stored in the root directory of the device within the pim.vol file.

OK, sorry I was thinking about account settings...So why didn't YOU answer the guy???
OH and BTW, pim.vol (IE PIM personal Information Manager) is only for contact/appnt info!!!
Check your facts.
We know how to move them, we are talking about SMS's which are held in an IMAP file!!
Move your message storage to your SD card and see which file goes!
EDIT: Be useful, not negative!
I guess DUTTYTHROY is the only person i see who can help us with this problem. Im gonna PM him, but if others also do the same for this ISSUE, then maybe he might volunteer to help.
We might even PAY him for this solution.
SHOW OF HANDS PLEASE FOR THIS CAUSE

I'm using for several months now Jeyo Mobile Extender who synchronizes my sms folder with outlook and which allows me to send sms right from outlook when my TP is connecter to ActiveSync.
They made a standalone tool called Jeyo Mobile Companion who does the same job without oulook
http://www.jeyo.com/
thx gloom i am using the trial version right now, it works fine for me so far
mDesktop
I am using this app
http://www.motionapps.com/product/mdesktop/index.jsp
it can do Anything with your PDA, just automatically synces when you connect to PC like Active Sync does. You can even remote dontrol your display, send SMS, call, browse files, install cabs and much more.
Problem is it wasn't free .. $20
There are 2 from M$ that work with Outlook. Outlook SMS addon - phone needs to be connected through ActiveSync. Outlook Mobile Manager will forward email as SMS to your phone. It also sends an agenda for the day. Both are free. I found OMM by accident. It's not advertised any where.
try "my mobiler"
try your email program.
http://www.mutube.com/projects/open-email-to-sms/gateway-list/
You can find the server to email to (mine is @txt.att.net) and I just use my mobile phone's number. So, if your tel# is 1025551212, the just send an email to [email protected]
For the Netherlands, you can use these:
NETHERLANDS
31#@gin.nl - if you have T-Mobile
0#@sms.orange.nl - if you have Orange
(replace the # with your phone number)
try www.dashwire.com
it lets you do SMS from you comp and also backs up everything on your phone

This could be used for bad things
2 Programs that I like.
First one as mentioned above (Free), My Mobiler:
MyMobiler
Second Program, which I absolutley LOVEE to death, same as above, but more feature rich, and quicker (Costs $39, yes a lot for mobile software...luckily my company paid for mine):
Pocket Controller Pro
I only list that second one, because if anyone has anything free as good as that one, I'd love to hear about it.
Both programs actually have your phone's interface on your computer, so you can type into your phone, do SMS, everything/anything.
DTB
Sprite and PIM have both been recommended on thsi forum for others wanting to save/xfer text's. But what about being able to sync them to a pc and view them on the pc? I was told about Jeyo Mobile Extender for Outlook, has anyone used this? Does it work well?
You can also try Microsoft's My Phone service... not bad
Ok after fooling around with the backups, myphone and Jeyo's outlook here is my opinion...
Myphone service blows, I see no reason why anyone would use it unless they were a Microsoft employee and were required to use it per company policy... The service sucked, the site is horrible and once your logged into "live" it's convoluted finding your way around and impossible to "ONLY" you the myphone service... And within minutes of setting up my live account so I could log in I had 20 or so spam mails from microsoft in my mailbox....
Jeyo's outlook, Simple... Easy to set up, took less then a minute from clicking download till I had all 1,447 messages backed up and viewable in outlook on my computer...
As the title implies, I am in search of a way to write texts on my PC and send then via ActiveSync to my TD2, which in turn sends them as normal SMSs.
Thanks in advance!!!

you can try this. it works with outlook. sorry, but i just found a german side. try and search for MOSA / Microsoft Outlook SMS-Add-In.
thanks a lot!!!
SMS from windows
Try Efficasoft Mobile Express - its free stand alone client
first I will try Outlook add-in and then the standalone client. Will give feedback. Thanks for your advice!!!
Efficasoft Mobile Express works fine. mDesktop is also good if you enforce it to connect with your mobile.
I use myMobiler.. Free
Remote control of phone from pc once connected thru a.sync.. makes it easier to do things without turning away from pc.. best when used with the phone docked..
Good to see this thread and this will surely help me going forward...
I am downloading Efficasoft Mobile Express and myMobiler. Will try these out.
Hope Outlook should have builtin feature to Sync SMS and Compose/Send SMS via phone
Thank you all.
I have tried MyMobiler now I will see how the Efficasoft Mobile Express is doing. The website looks good though.
