Please do not throw rocks at me. I tried searching in the forum and in google. Not sure if I'm wording it correctly. But anyway, when I'm using the QWERTY keyboard I'm having trouble w/ typing. I usually have to go by to some words and seperate them. I don't know if it's the speed of the keystroke that I should be worrying about or using more force pressing each key.

Are you using a stock or cooked ROM? Try disabling the word suggest and XT9 (if your ROM supports it). I still have the occasional issue with misplaced spaces or double letters, but it's very minor.

I'm using a cooked ROM. It is a minor problem, but sometimes I don't like going back and fixing things. =/
I have a similar problem on my keyboard. The only complaint I have is that I use a clip on my Kaiser. They should have put the space bar a little bit higher because when I type I don't space so I end up writing like this..
Howw as yourd ay . Gets annoying because I have to go back and space and delete.
My major problem is, and i'll try to explain as best as I could.
On your PC keyboard, if you press the INSERT key and you press space it'll delete any words after. When I'm typing on my TILT i go to backspace and it won't let me. It could be in IE, WORD, text messaging etc. I have to highlight what I want to delete and then press the delete button. Sometimes if i'm typing and lets say I type "Educated" but I missed the "C". If I tap in the middle with stylus and try to type in the "C" it'll delete my "A","T", depending on how many times I press a button on my keyboard. Very annoying. Any fix.

Same EXACT issue. Thought I was retarded. Glad to hear that others are having the same issue.
Anyone have a a fix for this? It is EXTREMELY annoying. I'm using Dutty's April 29th 6.1 ROM.

Its not just dutty's rom, most of the latest builds have this issue. I however, am not experiencing this any longer.

I started having that issue sometime after mid-april. However, over the past few days I've been trying new roms out and I noticed that Laurentius26 May 19th rom and shogunmark May 23 deathv2 beta release hasn't had this issue. Therefore, I am making the assumption that it was either caused by a program i was installing, which I am not installing anymore (However, since others have this issue I cannot base my assumption on an application I was installing), or the problem is arising because of the builds that are/were being used.
I have tried countless roms.
I just noticed that the two roms I mentioned above both use At&t 19213 build

Anyway, I've had Schaps 4.31 for a while first ROM i flashed been happy with it. I have to search for those two roms and see what they include. It bugs me because I have to type slow ass hell just to make sure it's accurate. I master typing while not looking and driving at the same time. It's a buzzkill. Help anyone!
I have been having the same issue in my Tilt. Using the Apr 29th dutty rom, and upgrading to the latest may 22nd rom seemed to have helped it a great bit. although still not gone completely. And all programs that were installed on the 29th rom and the 22nd rom are the same set. So it does seem to be a rom / radio issue.
The problems with slow keystrokes is usually in ROMS that have a XT9 keypad installed, such as one of dutty's hybrid ROMs or any with the new Diamond keyboard package. If you download and install the "disable xt9" cab that is around here on some ftps and such, it will solve the problem.

I've always had XT9 disabled and still confronted this problem when using particular roms. Does that cab do the trick mviana?

That cab worked well for me. I just typed a little in Word Mobile and sent a text message. I'll report back a little later if you'd like.

I have an issue with the spacebar. Everytime u press the space bar it doesn't actually register the space on screen until you LET GO of the space bar button. That is, press down and release. Every other button just waits for the press down, but for some reason the space bar is on a slight delay.
This causes many of my words to run together: liket his.
Any way to fix this issue??????

My Tilt doesn't seem to do this - the spacebar is stiffer than the other keys, but when I press it firmly I see the cursor immediately jump forward.
So I'm guessing you have a hardware problem.
hmm...it really doesn't feel like a hardware issue. The spacebar pushes down and up fine, it just seems like its progrmamed to "SPACE" upon release of the key, rather than press-down.
if you hold it down it will start repeating spaces, though...just takes a little longer than other keys....
Since you're running Dutty's Rom, I'd suggest it has to do with the XT9 settings of the ROM. Download a cab from Dutty's server called "Disable_XT9.cab" and run it. Should fix your problem (did so for me).

According to Laurentinus, this lag is possibly related (at least in WM 6.1) with Screen / keyboard drivers and, possibly with HTC home…
He claims that the problem is solved in his new Rom LS V4…

I have the same issue on my Tilt with the original AT&T ROM and Dutty's ROM. Very annoying. I was almost ready to go get a Blackjack 2 instead, but now I see the new AT&T ROM that I"ll give a try.

I just installed Duty's disableT9.cab fix and here is what happend:
1) space bar now responds as soon as you push it (not on the release)
2) my spell checker kicked in, and also names of people in my TO address automaticly searches.
This is how it was with WM6.0 and i liked it. Everyone using dutty's rom needs to install this fix to get their keyboard spacebar and spell checker to work right!
I am running Itje's Touch-it 6.1 full rom and I have noticed that everytime that I pull up a screen where there is an option to type (text, settings, browser pages, etc) my onscreen keyboard pops up. I have never used this keyboard and it really annoys me when it pops up because I have to close it everytime. I use the hard keyboard for everything. Is there any way to disable the onscreen keyboard? I truely dont care if its permenant or not, I just dont want it popping up anymore!

IF you do NOT close the onscreenkeyborad by tapping the little keyboardsymbol in rght corner ...
BUT start typing with hardwarekeyboard = the device will rmember this and after 3-4 poping up the scrennkeyboard it will STOP!!!
DON´T use the keyboard JUST ignore and start typing with hardwarekeyboard and it WILL stop!

Thanks guys. I installed null keyboard and it seems to be working fine. I'm going to give it a couple days and try it out. If not, i'll uninstall it and i'll give poppamopps idea a try.
I also just realized that it didnt start until i installed opera 9.5 beta. The browser is by far superior to any browser i have used. As for now everything seems to on the up and up. Thanks again.

Yep, this is also what I do.
I'm having the same issue after installing Opera 9.5 beta. I've tried several Null Keyboard apps with no luck. I've even followed some reg edit instructions to no avail. I only have the issue with the on-screen keyboard popping up in Opera. I did as pappamops suggested but after 20+ times of avoiding the on-screen keyboard, rebooting and trying again, I don't think this is a solution for this issue.
What is the null keyboard app you used, mrmike?

This is a different kind of dog, fzzyrn. It is only occuring in Opera 9.5 which granted is a beta. I was about to accept that this is an issue caused by Opera itself and that the keyboard must be part of the program because I can't bring up the SIP keyboard anywhere else in WM 6. BUT, mrmike says he got one of the null keyboard programs to solve this issue for him...

This worked like a charm! Awesome tip man, thank you. Only took three times and it was fixed.
**EDIT-All I had to do is use the keyboard ONCE (sending a text) and it's back again. I guess that's not a permanent fix. Any other ideas?

its what i do too, and yes it works. I thought it was just me, but it did in fact stop poping up.
I really searched for hours in the forum but i didn't find a solution for my problem:
When I press the shift key to write a capital letter and then start writing a word the first two letters are typed capital if i type to fast. Is there a possibility to fix that?

Make sure you have disablext9 cab installed and make sure you turn OFF cleartype in PIE AND LANDSCAPE MODE.
KD, You need to Give the Bolded Answer. This is the only way this ever works for me to get that information through.
YOU NEED TO DISABLE XT9!

thank you for your help. i installed the disablext9 cab. i did a softreset. cleartype in PIE and landscape mode is turned off too (checked this and the xt9 status with kaisertweak). is the problem perhaps related to wm 6.1 (german)?

Yes Yes, XT9 slows down the keyboard response time. But its still slow sometimes even with it Disabled.
There was a Theory put forth, by I believe mikechannon, that Said its because you hit Shift with your left thumb and before you lift up your Right thumb has pressed the other key. Shift Stays due to the minuet lag and then you hit the second key and it gets capitalized as well. You just need to slow down on your typing.

I'm being much more deliberate in my typing now because I do type too fast for the keyboard, even with the XT9 disabled.

That is what I'm doing since i have my TyTNII. I was hoping for a better solution because imho the purpose of a qwerty keyboard is speeding up typing. Sometimes I'm a little dissapointed from the device (regarding video drivers, the keyboard, misc. bugs, ... not this great for about 800 bucks). So i think I'll wait for the Touch Pro and take a exact look on it before buying and if there's the same problem, i think i'll go for the diamond (cheaper and smaller anyways). Made some good experiences with TouchPal softkeyboard.

Okay... Soooo today has been spent downloading stuff for my tilt.
-I had the HTC customizer thing, and the htc today.. thing. whatever.
I downloaded;
-Diamond on screen keyboard.. (Which is awesome.... because i hated sliding out my phone to put in seven numbers to call. and it's an awesome keyboard.).
-Some games..
-The kaiser tweak thing, and the updates?, I wasn't really sure what I was
doing with that.. because it doesn't seem to work?
-The keyboard fix.. which fixed my D-K keys.. but not the weird spacing problem I have. (When I'm done typing a word, I press space and then type the next, but it does this. "heyw hata re youd oing?"... Am I just typing too fast? anyways.. it's annoying the crap outta me. Plus I look stupid when I send that.)
Okay... so I need help fixing that.... and my auto word suggestion thing doesn't work. and it's driving me mad. Also help on using the update things for the kaiser tweaks would help.. because I though it was supposed to fix the auto word thing.. but there aren't any options for it?

It's funny because this problem came up in a thread last week, I thought I was bad at typing on the phone or something until they talked about the problem, which is a known issue.

I disabled xt9 in kaiser tweak, and on all the touch keyboard input options. (I re-installed the diamond keyboards.) and I flixed the spacing problem? I am still trying to fix the auto complete/suggest words problem. Thanks! : )

try this :
start > settings > input > uncheck "auto word complete" and enable auto correct > ok

Okay, I don't think I'm being very clear. Sorry if that is the case.
I used to have words come up when I type, and it would be a list of words and sentences that I've already typed.. ex; "What are you doing", "What's up", "What", "Where", "Where are you".. and I would have only typed "Wh". Then I could push the up button and select what word/sentence I wanted and it would insert it to my text.
Now all that is gone, and I cannot for the life of me get to to work again.

Had a similar issue with the messaging, when i type the first letter of a nameit usually pops up the possible namesbut it stopped, it would not pop up with the options of who it was to. i had to either put the whole address or phone # or push the center button and scroll through and select...this really sucked. does it work on yours im just curious?
Well i had to Hard Reset to fix mine, after several hours of f'ing with it.
sorry for the bad news. honestly all the time you spend looking for the answer you could just as easily Hard reset and start all over before you even get 10 replies.
word of advise, always do a backup before you install anything new.
if I do a hard reset will i have to update my rom again?

You know I've installed this and still encountered issues like what he is mentioning.
This file has fixed the issue of weird spacing when typing (such as "I love you" looking like "Il ovey ou" which was extremely frustrating), I've still had the general overall WM "Lag" of when typing, I'm going much faster than the phone can apparently handle, and I just have to wait a second for it to catch up. It will catch up correctly unless I've made typos, but yea I think he is talking about a legit issues that the RR Speed Increase doesn't fix on all roms.

Mine used to do what you are describing, I would get 3 to 4 words ahead of what the screen showed and would have to stop and wait on it to catch up to check for misspelled words.
The way I fixed it on my device was to go to settings/input/word completion and uncheck suggest words when entering text. Since I have taken the word suggestion off I have not had a problem. It keeps up with me just fine now.
thanks boss1234! I was having this same exact problem, and I did try the lag fix as per the other thread and was still encountering the laginiess. Turns out it was caused by the word completion. Unchecked it and now it will actually keep up with me.

Disable T9 ..... search for the cab to make it easy. ALSO , HTC's ez input keyboard also causes many of the lagging issues. All of this has been covered so many times that its annoying to have to answer this for the 10th time. Everyone here is right. Read..... its here.
The little button on the top of your screen brings up a GOOGLE search window. All i typed was " Keyboard Lag Kaiser" and look at allllll these results.
This was so hard

You dont have to be a jerk..as a matter of fact if it annoyed u or erked u tat much..you should have ignored it.
Another case of search before you create a new post. Closing thread as this one is obviously turning nasty and we definitely don't need that...
