how to disable msn mobile? (for msn.com) - Tilt, TyTN II, MDA Vario III General

does anyone know if theres a way to do this? opera mini 4.1 runs A LOT of web pages just fine, but i hate getting redirected to mobile.msn.com whenever i try to visit msn.com. msn mobile just doesn't give you all the articles and links at a glance that you would get from msn.com...does anyone know if there's a way ti disable this?

its a bit too late (3years) but if anyone else is looking for it
here is your answer:msn.com/?view=desktop

Don't like OZ, it uses the sms instead of data. I use IM+. Just ranting. lolz.
Original Instant Messaging Program
Hey, I need the original Instant messaging program that came with my tilt. (the one with aim, live, and yahoo). Where can i get that? I looked through the threads and couldn't find it. Thanks.
You're looking for Oz messenger and it's in the downloads link in my signature. Though I'd recommend you checkout Jivetalk, as i've found it to be a vastly superior messaging program and it is free right now because it's in alpha testing.

Ever herd of a thing called a wiki it contains a link that you can d/l all att .cab's. But I guess its just easier to be lazy and post a new thread on your first post.
dont you spend as much time or more reposting how evil they are for not searching?
Yeah but if it teaches them to search then its worth it. The amount of threads that are completley redundant beacuse of this type of thing

Another Instant Messaging Thread
Ok I've been digging around the forums for about 2 hours now and I still haven't been able to find it, so I figured I would just break down and ask you guys. This may sound strange, but I liked the Instant Messaging client that comes pre-packaged with the Tilt, but after I flashed the ROM to Hyperdragon III to my surprise (Don't ask me why I didn't think of this ahead of time, I do not know) it was no longer there (for obvious reasons).
Does anyone know where I can find this IM client? Ive been digging around this forum and the at&t forums for a while now, and I'm about ready to give up.
I know all the alternatives, I just liked what came stock with the unit. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.
i was looking for this myself as I use msn and yahoo messengers but had no luck finding the extracted app. I have settled for the live messenger right now which is on the cabs list under hyperdragons post but will monitor this to see if anyone posts the cab file

IT's called OZ IM, it's available to download in my cabs folder, and if you search you should be able to find it pretty easily.
Will merge this with the other IM threads.
Sorry to burst your bubble
Sorry, to burst your bubble.
Bursting your bubble.
I'm sorry for it.
Anyways, OZ instant messenger doesn't run of sms exclusively. I've been using it frequently via medianet on my tilt and I haven't had a single text message charged to my account. So go ahead and download oz messenger and use it via medianet. As for jivetalk... i don't know, but i'll check it out.
The cab files worked great. Thank You. I've also been looking for the IM program for the Tilt. Mine had disappeared after I hard reset the phone and dind't allow AT&T's bloatware to install.
Thanks again

i'm in the same boat as you...its useless if there arent any network configurations...sorry to go off topic, but do you have an aim program that works with the hack?
no problem, I dont use aim, so i dont know of any. but i thought i heard of a website that had alot of different im clients embeded into the browser, so if you went there with opera, or PIE it might work, hope that helps (also hope that exists)

yeah i know of one that exists through the browser, but its so terrible...
palringo of course. theres some simple reg editing but all can be found on this, our great site.
but all in all palringo is the best. you'll see.
hmm, yes palringo is nice! although it disconnects so often here...
but btt: i´d love to TEST skyfire... but it doesnt connect through the active sync connection... (i´m using the niki, so no wifi ) how could i get it working?
sorry if im wrong posting it here.
For AIM, you could use Palringo or EQO, both can be setup to work with t-mobile's t-zones / t-mobileweb. EQO has a Today plugin, if that makes a difference to you.

Opera slow to make http requests?

Hi,
Does anyone else find that when you click on hyperlinks in opera, it can take an absolute age for the request to hit the server? I seem to get a fair amount of the HTTP request timed out messages on many popular sites.
A lot of the time clicking on the links does nothing and you have to keep hitting them until it succeeds.
Once you do finally make a request that hits the server the response is very fast indeed.
The problem is definitely to do with making the requests, its not a case of it sitting around waiting for the browser to render the page.
(am on o2 hsdpa with hsupa enabled)
anyone else?
there are 2 opera browsers one called mobile and one called mini
the one called mini is a java app which transfer all requests passed the opera server for comrpesion to be faster and i guess that can cause latency
ahh,
Im using Mobile 9.5 on the 1.37 rom.
Are you sure that it's opera and not e.g. O2 at fault? Have you tried the same site in PIE?
as rubbish as pocket ie is, i never have the problem in ie or opera mini.
The built in opera browser is chronic slow getting the requests out. Downloading is great but clicking links takes forever.
It's annoying because my P1i was blistering fast and I'm starting to see kinks in the browsing experience on the Diamond.
agreed, even on wifi its the same. waah

Kaiser and the Internet "pda friendly"

Hi All,
Has anyone else noticed that the Kaiser / IE seems to redirect you to a "pda friendly" version of a website.. I found this alot with News Sites and its nothing like the site you get from a standard PC/Desktop. I dont know how it knows I'm searching from my Kaiser and dont like the "pda friendly" pages, is there anyway to override this "feature" - After all I like to think I am getting to the actual website I want and not what "they" want...
It isn't the Kaiser that takes you to the PDA site. When you access the webserver that hosts the site it checks what browser you are requesting the page from.

You can avoid this and see the 'real' web by downloading and installing Opera. There is a setting in opera 9.5b's options to see the full web page rather than the mobile version.
Thanks there - I guess I should have known it was the Sites server etc and not the Kaiser.... So IE can't do it then, not had any experience with Opera so will give it a go (assuming I can find it) also I hear there is a Firefox version around called Minimo but again not used it before and dont know if it can do what Opera can....
Many thanks, will let you know how I get on.
Minimo was abandoned somewhere in 2006 at v0.2, was pretty unusable compared to today's browsers like Opera.
Hi,
Thanks for all the advice, yes I can see the pro's of Opera. Very sleek and lets me see the "proper" web page as opposed to the "pda friendly". Shame about Minimo tho as I like Firefox.... Here's to happy web surfing.

PIE isn't that great... but in these cases the owners of those particular sites have set it up to give a special version of their sites.
Its possible to get to the real version by messing with the user agent... but Opera does it soooooooo much better there isn't really any point. Opera mini 4 is free and works on any java enabled mobile phone (including the kaiser)
Opera Mobile 9.5 is available as a free beta version for windows mobile devices. Eventually they will release a commercial version which they will charge for and this is the one you really want on your kaiser (and should be worth the money!)

Best Multi Platform Chat App

hi, i've tried em all
meebo
hello aim, msn
nimbuzz,
im+
palringo
none of them cut it
they all have disconnect problems
or they don't have picture sharing
or slow my phone down wayyy too much
or take too long to load from the home screen
which one works for you? and is there a better solution out there?
i don't care if i have to pay, i'm willing to spend whatever as long as it works
i know that beejive on the bb and iphone work wonderfully, but beejive isn't available for the G1
i'm really frustrated the phone has been out for a lng time now and software developers don't care to see the market that they are missing out on by not creating a worthwhile chat app for the android platform
someone please help!
any input suggestions anything!!
btw i've even tried the google chat, aim and msn, using jabber hack/plugin
and it was alright until i started having connection problems with that too and wouldn't sign me on aim anymore
not to mention that msn doesn't work

of coarse its goin to slow your phone down and take long to load...they are freaking multi-chat apps.. its like runnin in the background and signed onto many other IM services.
and they disconnect whenever they are not used or opened in a while most likely
Ebuddy is the best. just terminate background programs that you are not using and you will be good to go, that's what I always do. Also, overclocking to MHz Max MHz lowest is the best config for all chatting platforms, thou it works best on the Ebuddy one..Advance Task Manager should help you with terminating the BG Programs.
Or you can connect through them all via google talk :]
