HTC Diamond black icons problem - Touch Diamond, MDA Compact IV General

I've installed a few games, and randomly, a few of these icons on my PDA turns black. As in it retains the shape, but just becomes pure black. SOft reseting solves the problem for a while, but after a period of time it randomly becomes black again.
What i want to know is:
1) does anyone know the cause of this. The stuff i installed are all VGA compatible and i play em with no problem
2) Should i be worried? Do i wait for an update, or should i claim warranty?

I have the same problem, everytime I install an application,
it's icon turns into black, I have format and retry the diamond many time, but still got this problem.
I try to install one program at a time, then soft reset it each time, then the icon restore back...
Don't know what is wrong.

It might be VGA related. I had the same problem and i have a previous version from you. The program works without a problem but the icon was a bit fuzzy in the beginning but after a while they turned out ok

yea but after a while it becomes fuzzy again

That's a strange thing to say, considering the nature of this forum.
If you're not a fan of these devices, than why are you here? Flog them on eBay and get an iPhone

Most of them work properly. I haven't had to make any changes to my Touch.
The proper UK version of the Touch Diamond will also probably work properly too. However, 'properly' isn't good enough for most people here - we want AWESOME.

Increase the Icon Cache and soft reset:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\GDI\GLYPHCACHE]
"limit"=dword:00020000
Note: The dword 00020000 is hexadecimal which is equivalent to dword 131702 decimal.

That's just not true! Sure they don't do the max they can do, but what does? And anyway, that's what this site is for

thanks KOR, i'll give it a try!

IMPORTANT UPDATE (regarding black icons): It appears that the cause of our ugly black icons is not our VGA screen, but Touch Flo 3D itself. Looks like its a bit buggy. They didn't do that for the Kaiser *cough* Drivers *cough*

Drivers are a more serious problem. UI problems are normally easy to fix. In other threads, people have already begun tweaking to improve TouchFLO 3D's performance...

In theory, yes, but whether HTC will do anything at all remains to be seen...

I think I might have found a workaround for this issue.
1st... I have increased the Icon Cache.
2nd... I switched off the TouchFlow 3D today plugin
3rd... I did a soft reset
Now the icons are displayed correctly and are cashed correctly.
4th... I switched the TouchFlow 3D today plugin on
The cashed icons remain nice now and will not turn black again, because the are cashed.
To increase the Icon Cache, use a registry editor and change
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\GDI\GLYPHCACHE]
"limit"=dword:00020000
Note: The dword 00020000 is hexadecimal which is equivalent to dword 131702 decimal.

PointUI on the TyTN II

I just installed the latest build of PointUI (www.pointui.com) on my TyTN II, and really like the slick interface and touch capability. Anyone else running this app, and if so have you run into any issues? The fact that the software will remain a free product makes it worth the "testing".
Thanks.
James
Theres a couple of threads on this already. I have installed it but my TyTN II locks up every time within 2 minutes of starting, even after a soft-reset so have given up for now.
I may give it another go when they fix all the bugs listed on their forums and add more features to make it more usable and by then hopefully my lockup issues will be solved as well.
I did use it for some days but I hate that the 'close' button is not an actual close button at all. It just minimizes the app instead of closing it. So it is very memory consuming.
But I did like the interface and the way it worked. Just wait a little longer to have them some issues solved.
plexat they have just fixed the close program issue today with this update
http://www.pointui.com/files/tests/hardwarekeys2/home.zip
Copy the exe over the old one and you now have a close button instead of a minimize one!
It also fixes the issue with hardware buttons not working.
the background color is horrid and the icons are goofy. but the app itself is pretty slick and i like the update manager.
i haven't used it that much, but the only bug i've experienced is while swiping my finger from side to side to move the applet ribbon the touch cube activates. i didn't know it could activate with a side to side motion.
anyway, for a beta product this thing is incredible. it has huge potential. after revisions, i think this will be a must-have app.
just installed it on my phone and it works for about 2 mins before freezing, once already its reduced my screen to randon red and yellow dots, so thats getting uninstalled.
shame really as the 5 mins i did get to spend playing with it i was quite impressed
or i would if it had a proper uninstaller
very nice!
Just installed this in a WM6 emulator (having no real WM6 hardware at this time) and I must say it is superb! It feels like an iPhone (heresy to say something around here, I know). I almost have to say that it is better then TouchFLO (Yet another heresy to say something around here).

No problem. I dont really know how I found it I have a tendancy to go to forums and open all threads that interest me by holding ctrl down and clicking on them. Then I read through and close them as I go.
I just happened to come across the update in one of the threads I was reading! One of the developers had posted a link to the file in the middle of a thread.

The cube activating is due to your touchflo config file. All you need to do is edit the config file to exclude pointui and the cube will not activate while pointui is open.

PointUI - some notes
Great app, but the problem is it cannot start my 3G connection when e.g. updating weather, or using update manager.
DAMN!
When I start the connection manually from normal WM6 interface, it works then, but it's annoying...
Any help with this?

You know, the saddest part about it all is that even with our $700+ dollar devices (unless you're like me and sold your soul to AT&T... $150 Kaiser baby!) we're all dying for a UI like this. Tell you what, if it wasn't for you guys and the xda-developers community, there's no way in hell I would have gotten this phone. Dutty's ROMs are magical stuff, man. Tell you what, after a few more weeks/months of dev. and a full version with a less... erm... blue background, I'd pay $50 for this program if it allows me to get through my day without ever seeing any part of the traditional Windows Mobile UI. I'd pick it up for $100 if they included integrated task manager, file explorer, media player, web browser, and other essential software. Hell, I'd gladly go higher if they allowed me to never have to see any part of Windows Mobile GUI again. The Kaiser kills the iPhone in functionality (that's why we're all here, right?), but man pointUI is a step in the right direction towards closing the "sexiness" gap.
Okay, rant over.
I'm note sure I would pay $100 for the UI, but I do agree that this is exactly what Windows Mobile needs. Overall function is great and with just a few minor fixes/changes this would be the killer app for any WM device.

I cannot agree more than what you say. HTC is a superb tool designed by engineers with some "help" from designer people. I love it, but my god the interface is sometimes not sexy at all (just compare the icons of pointui as an exemple
Iphone is a superb tool made by designers. I love it from a purely design point of view, but it lacks a lot of things engineers love (openness, 3G+, GPS, etc.)
Now the TYTNII plus a pointUI type interface would be the top must. The very few minutes I spent with pointUI, I loved it. I will keep it as soon as it really work and have more customization.
Now, I am sticked to HTC, because it is quite easier to adapt a new interface to an existing device, than the contrary
Thx

I had the same.. fairly easy to fix:
get yourself a registry editor (PHM for example)
navigate to: \HKCU\software\microsoft\today\keys\112
change: Default string to 'phone' (from Home)
change: Open string to '\windows\cprog.exe'
then i'd do a soft reset.
should work..

Revolutionized Touchflo

Looks like the new and revolutionized touchflo is here and from the looks of it, it looks super nice but costs money. Here's the link: http://www.ftouchsl.com/Default.aspx
If you've tried it out, please give us feedback.
The homepage gif doesnt really hilight the power of this tool.
Looking at the videos/infos is way more complete...
I'll give a try ony my Kaiser (the easy scrolling a-la iPhone is interesting)
Forgive my cynicism, but.... I can get my Kaiser to do finger scroll in most applications with TouchFlo. It doesn't look as smooth, but I was under the impression that had something to do with the shoddy screen refresh rate due to poor driver support (see stickies) and I am not entirely convinced that program is being demonstrated on a similarly crippled device...
Furthermore, the flash file on their front page seems to imply that they have some form of gesture recognition software running. The videos, however, do not demonstrate this, only the scrolling....
Dammit I need to be more trusting....
can our handicapped device handle this?

No you don't. Thank-you for raising these rather interesting points. I'd love to have this, but I wouldn't want it messing with my TouchFlo cube...I like the cube, its something cool to show people so they can "Ooooooo....AAaaaaaahhhhhhhhh...."
The device in the videos looks like an HTC P3600. It runs WinMo5 and uses a Samsung processor. I'd guess this doesn't run as nicely on the Kaiser.

Agreed, but you may find that the Qualcomm chipset (as used in the Kaiser) is undermined by the software support for DirectDraw thereby making the Kaiser appear slower despite superior hardware. If the software support was there, you may well find touchflo itself is as smooth as this program. Until I see vids of it on a Kaiser or confirmation that it is pukka, I wont be touching it.
I'm sure someone will try it and let us know if it is kosher soon enough.
Testing
I installed the demo.
Call me Placebo Pete, but I'll be damned if overall scrolling isn't smoother. PIE scrolls MUCH smoother, scrolling the file system is still a bit doggy, but smoother overall. I have Touch Commander as my "cube" launcher and its much quicker to draw.
Overall, there really may be somthing to look at here. YMMV. I'd be interested in what others think.
I also run PointUI, which also seems to have benefitted. PointUI has always been smooth because its still a bit bare bones, but now I'd say its downright spritely!
Does this product interfere at all the TouchFlow Cube? I have Slither's version. Should Cube be de-installed to run this program or are they fully compatible?

why wait for a video on a kaiser...isn't that what the demo is for...so you can try it for yourself rather than just speculate...not flaming, just saying...
If anyone tries the new FTouchSL app on your Kaiser/Tilt, please post your results here. I tried it (in demo mode) earlier today on my Tilt and experienced many a touch screen freeze. The settings area includes an option to disable TouchFlo, which I did...and when I'd test the new scrolling in PIE or Contacts, it would scroll (beautifully, I might add! Much smoother better than TouchFlo IMO) but would then freeze after just a few swipes. I'm curious if I'm in the Kaiser/Tilt minority when experiencing these bugs. Thanks!
I have not seen any freezes or lockups yet.

Given I just broke my phone (cracked the screen) and had to re-install I don't want to mess with it quite yet.
My main point was that for some people, even if they use this software it wont improve matters because of the driver issues. This might lead them to blame the software (PocketCM worked well on my Hermes, not so well on my Kaiser) when in reality the software is fine, it's the drivers that have problems.
Some of the posts here are encouraging, but I can't quite understand how the software would improve Nick's touch commander and pointui exprience.
If I develop some courage and find time I will try and install it with some before and after shots. I can't be a Negetive Nancy forever....
Does this software interfere with the Cube? Can they co-exist?
So I finally managed to install it :
- First attempt, the Kaiser was unresponsible. Shutdown / restart.
Then didn't find where to restart the welcome wizard...
- Uninstalled, reinstalled : now I follow the wizard
- Scrolling to line 50 is ok...
- Selecting multiple lines won't work.
- Gestures "down-up" ... unable to do it neither (cannot press exit nor next)
Start Menu still works (from the hard button), but I can't select anything with the touchscreen...
I tried from the Program icon to disable the app, no way... Still won't give my touchscreen back.
I'll uninstall it.

Is that the demo or bought version you tried?
Demo of course, I won't buy something that didnt convince me
Problems here too
Hi
It installed fine, but when I got to the "gesture" step in the config wizard it hung and I could no longer use the touch screen.
I restarted and all looked fine, it felt much more responsive but then the touchscreen stopped working again. I could still use the hardware buttons, so I uninstalled it and my touchscreen came back (after a further restart of course!).
I am using Dutty's V3 ROM, so perhaps there is some incompatability somewhere.
I have installed the demo, and I must say, there is a noticeable difference in the smoothness of the scrolling versus using the default HTC ftouchflo. Also I was able to complete the tutorial with no hitches. I had the cube installed at first, and I couldn't sense any conflicts between the two. This app will conflict with the scrolling feature of the HTC Ftouchflo (obviously), but after you do the tutorial and it brings you to the setup page it gives you the option to disable the default touchflo scrolling. I have yet to determine which gestures I would like to use, so I haven't configured those yet. Overall I'd say this program is a lot better than the one HTC supplies. I would gladly pay 10 or 12 bucks for it. I wonder how much it costs. hmm let's see.....
20 Duckets!!
I guess I'm gonna hafta play with it some more to see if i really want to lay down 20 bucks for it.

Philteale and Sebbes, sounds like we're having identical screen freezing problems. I think the scrolling - when it works - is a lot smoother than TouchFlo...unfortunately, it keeps freezing.

Summary Important Issues bout Diamond & Touchflo3D, [ UPDATED 17 June 2008 ]

First impression, EXTREMELY bad fingerprint magnet. I was expecting it to be like D810's fingerprint problem, but its much muh worse. However, the back cover seems to be a different kinda plastic glossy coating than D810, so i expect no peeling problems here.
Start up screen, after it install all necessary sys cabs, there's actually a short demo (video) on how to use the Touch interface. The old Touch didnt have that, justin writing in a manual..
The glass screen feels....like got some static attraction, so its totally not fun to scroll around with the finger. Well see how it is after putting on the screen protector
EDITED: Added Screenprotector, Touch feel is now MUCH better. Screenprotector is also of high quality. (thick and solid)
UPDATE on ICONS: Some games i insalled like Hexic and Warcraft 2, the icons in the start menu is totally screwed up, like, can see the shape of the icon, but not wat the icon is. It looks black and has strange lines. But not all games like this. Only some. I'm trying to figure out why. They're all meant for VGA. Hmm
Running the game once and performing a soft reset solves this problem.
UPDATE on TOUCH FLO 3D LAG: I've tried to mess around with Touch FLo 3D, see how much stress it can take. Handling it normally, placing my thumb at the bottom and moving it left to right, selecting what it want, and returning to the home screen, no problem at all. Now as you know besides sliding your thumb around, u can just CLICK it and what you want will appear. Example you're at TODAY screen, i click messages instead of susah go slide from TODAY to MESSAGES. Slight lag occurs when i do this (a tenth of a second? Probably loading time not really a "lag"). Now i tried ABUSING the system = Click on on messages, before messages load, i click Today, click Music, click Programs, click Internet, Click click click click. Basically i'm not letting ANYTHING load, just spamming clicks. A definite lag before what i last clicked finally appears on my screen (about 1- 1.5 seconds). Which is impressive, considering how i abused it like crazy. LOL. I honestly expected it to hang.
UPDATE ON MAPKING 2007: I have just tested it, and Mapking users will be glad to know that it supports the VGA screen on HTC Diamond, and GPS works flawlessly, despite worries that eGPS since its new, may not be recognized by Mapking
UPDATE ON CALL OF DUTY: Works absolutely awesome, NOT using minimal settings, i was able to play pretty well. NOTE: Tytn2 and Touch Cruise was NOT able to play due to heavy lag even with minimal settings. Game was perfectly fine, with except with just a small little, not lag, but looks like the rendering was a bit slow as i looked around, when i used hardkeys and stylus at the same time. NOTE: ALL pdas lag in gaming when using hardkeys and joystick at the same time. However, it was minimal, and call of duty was enjoyable to say the least. SO yes, it DOES have graphic accelerators. Proper benchmarks will be done when i have proper time.
UPDATE. SPB benchmark seems to hang. cant run it. hangs at testing word document.
UPDATE on Touch Flo 3D part 2: Download http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment...42&d=1202399126, thanks to schap, and customize File system cache to 8mb and file system filter cache to 131072. This gives drastic improvements in Touch Flo 3D.
UPDATE ON BATTERY REVIEW : I did this test, based on what a student (like me) would probably use. More sms than calls. Here's a rough estimate.
TOTAL HOURS BEFORE KONKING OUT TOTALLY = approximately 9 hours, give or take
TOTAL SMS-ES = 120
TOTAL TALK TIME = approximately 15-20 mins
TOTAL LIGHT GAMING TIME (Hexic) = 45 mins.
Its actually pretty impressive.
My verdict is that with backlight on "auto adjust" and with the dimlight dimming within seconds after not being used, there is a HUGE amount of power saving from running the VGA screen. Also, it could be possible that with its graphic accelerators, gaming also consumed less power than usual.
My Touch Cruise same amount of usage above lasted 11-12 hours
IMPORTANT UPDATE (regarding black icons): It appears that the cause of our ugly black icons is not our VGA screen, but Touch Flo 3D itself. Looks like its a bit buggy. So we'll have to wait for a proper rom update regarding it (or perhaps someone can come up with a registry fix). Don't believe me? switch off your Touch Flo 3D, and soft reset your PDA. All icons should turn back to normal. Also, with Touch Flo 3D off, you can expect better battery life, as well as a significant increase in speed for your pda.
UPDATE HTC Touch FLO 3D, another bug: There appears to be memory leak issues with Touch Flo 3D. The longer u use the less ram u'll appear to have. Will have to wait for rom update to fix all these bugs
My Blog : http://heretical-rantings.blogspot.com/2008/06/htc-touch-diamond-user-review.html
IMPORTANT UPDATE (bluetooth stack problem): It appears that after using Bluetooth A2dp, your pda will have "vibration non stop" as well as phone totally mute problems. This is reported by other members in XDA. I'll run a check up on the latest 1.37 rom and see if this is fixed, as well as other issues. Stay tuned.
UPDATE ON ROM 1.37.707.1
Rom 1.37.707.1
BLACK ICONS PROBLEM: Unresolved <------- WTF MAN HTC!!
Bluetooth stack/mute problem : Pending testing
Memory Leak Issues: APPEARS SOLVED (doesnt go above 57% here, last time 70+%)
random problem where sms tone does not ring, but only rings when u wake up your phone, despite receiving it long before SOLVED. But device is still set not to wake up at incoming sms by default.
gimme 24 hours to test bluetooth stack/ sudden mute problem and memory leak issues
kudos on one of the few informative posts i have read on this new forum for touch diamond...
Nice summary.
Few questions.
1. COD - Can you please post your control settings here?
2. Do you know the actual registry change for changing the file system cache to 8mb and file system filter cache to 131072. I like to do this via registry. I couldnt find this info...

Nice summary Baronic, at least when i get my Diamond ill know what to look out for. Saying that, it could be that the UK spec Diamonds have been delayed because of these problems??. LAst i heard was that they were being held back because HTC wanted to apply a software update or something like that before they were released into the UK. Unless they are trying to stop us from hacking the phone ie cooked roms etc. I hope not or else i will be extremely angry as to why they would do such a thing.
@boinger, you're welcome
@Kraft, in COD there's a box to tick "low settings". I'm playing it with it unticked thats all. No other settings.
For reg edits, check http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=398265
@Spawn, I've no idea about UK sets, as i'm from Malaysia. However, here, we've just had a rom update yesterday, and i'll be flashing it tomorrow, and see if the main problem: Black icon and memory leak, has been solved.
I'll be updating my Blog, as well as here probably once i flash the new rom. I'll have to come up with a summary on the roms as well soon, which roms have the Touch Flo 3D problems. My blog is in my signature

@Spawn, I've no idea about UK sets, as i'm from Malaysia. However, here, we've just had a rom update yesterday, and i'll be flashing it tomorrow, and see if the main problem: Black icon and memory leak, has been solved.

You already have a ROM update, did you find that on the HTC website in the HTC e-club? I just checked out the Hong KONG HTC region site and it has no ROM updates.
A question: doesn't the screen protector blur the display and therefore ruin the hi res of the device?
@save ferris, no, HTC doesnt seem to have the rom update, i'm going directly to the distributer for the rom update. though owners who bought their Touch DIamond today/yesterday would already have that update.
@pedmomd, no it doesnt blur the screen at all. its a clear screen protector
Stay tuned.
Rom 1.37.707.1
BLACK ICONS PROBLEM: Unresolved <------- WTF MAN HTC!!
Bluetooth stack/mute problem : Pending testing
Memory Leak Issues: Pending testing
random problem where sms tone does not ring, but only rings when u wake up your phone, despite receiving it long before SOLVED. But device is still set not to wake up at incoming sms by default.

maybe i did not understand the problem....but:
1. i put some music to play with my coreplayer and bt headphones.
2. after a few minutes i asked my little girl to call me from my home phone. the music stopped, i pushed the headphones button and was able to have a conversation.
3. hanged-up the call and the music start playing again.
4. repeated twice. everything OK!
is this the right experiment for your problem???
kukiriku, u must use HTC Player only to duplicate the problem
Can we have a dump of that latest rom plz ?

aaaahaaa...i thought you are blaiming the a2dp....OK, i'll test the htc player.
great post dude..
one more bug is
when using audio booster, after a while/charging or phone call, music played would be bassless.
Ways to fix it is to plug the headset in, disable audio booster, unplug and replug in the headset.

NoSleep!!.CAB - Stops the screen blanking during calls - WORKS!! [02/08/2008]

Hi
I made this little CAB to install the registry tweaks that prevent your screen from blanking. I can confirm that on my Orange Diamond, using Bepe's .97 this actually works, whereas using Advanced Config didn't solve the issue.
The CAB file is uninstallable should you wish to remove it.
Thanks,
Shinobi_UK
Can you explain what´s in that cab?

Nothing new here...
You could also easily do it with Diamond Tweak

Actually i found that using DT didn't work either, and I also find it more convenient to apply the registry changes with a cab file, rather than having to install an app I don't use and then make a load of clicks.
If you prefer to do it using a tweaking app then this cab isn't for you. The only reason I posted it is because I use it myself.

Four registry tweaks, and a text file. Nothing sinister.

It works for everybody... even on all bepe's ROMs.

If so, good luck for making cab for each Diamond tweak...
Cheers.

Well actually it's been very easy to achieve by taking registry snapshots, and then using diff on a linux box to find the changes, then import them into a cab file.
So thanks for wishing me luck but it's not required.
Sarcasm breeds sarcasm and frankly i'm slightly ammused that on a forum designed to help users share tips and software, a simple CAB i use after new ROM flashes has created such a hostile response.
I'm not attempting to replace or belittle your tool monte, it's certainly streets ahead of what i can do at the moment, however as bepe's ROM lets me run cabs at build this way is nice and easy for me to ensure that if I need to do a hard reset I can reinstate my registry tweaks during the reset without having to install any additional software.

I find it annoying to have to unblank the screen to use the keypad for things like phone banking and voicemail.
The registry tweaks in Advanced Config did not work on my phone either, but this cab did the job. Thanks shinobi_uk
THIS is effing amazing
Been looking for something like this for a looong time, cheers
Brilliant, I'd tried the registry tweaks in the tweaks thread, and advancedconfig without any luck and this cab worked perfectly.
I haven't tried DiamondTweak, looks interesting though.
This works perfectly. Big Thanks!

It's not that bad, it just annoys me when I'm phoning numbers where you have a number menu system to get through.
It's strange that it's something no other WM phones I've used have done, yet theres no menu option to disable it.

This CAB file is flawed, because it causes unnecessary battery drain.
It's wrong to make the screen never go to sleep during a phone call.
If you'll think about it for a moment, during a call we never really need the screen to be active for more than 1 minute or so, from the last time we touched it. If you are calling a digital voice machine (either your voicemail or anything), 99.999% of the time it won't take more than 1 minute between key presses.
The ideal tweak should just make the screen behave like when you're not in a call, meaning the screen reduces brightness after ~30 seconds, and shuts down after ~1 minute. In order to be 100% on the safe side, you could make it shut down after 2 minutes from last key press. BUT, making it never go to sleep is simply a waste of battery if you're doing for example a 30 minutes conversation.
center button and screen back on
My preference is to have the screen come on, see who it is, then allow it to go blank. If you need it to come back on, i just push the center of the scroll, enter button or whatever its called, and the screen comes back on. (at least it does on mine) . I like it that the screen blanks so it will save battery.
But i dont think we should discourage anyone from making any kind of cab if they desire.

Still, it is unnoying to press that damn key every 5 seconds. The screen should shut down after 1-2 minutes, but NOT never.

Thats abosolute BS. It is NOT flawed. If you dont want your screen to stay on just - dont use the CAB. I think most users around here are smart enought to know that keeping the screen on during a call takes a battery hit. If they use the CAB as I intend to they are willing to accept this.

"slide down for more options"

Hello, im using miri 8.1 premium and i want to remove the "slide down for more options" when i make a call... is this possible??
+1 i hate it!
+1, i really don't like it
yes! Me too, it is the most useless junk ever thought by the HTC ppl! It is annoying, please someone please help us remove it!
And why don't you ask miri for it in is thread instead opening a new one???

Because its not just in Miri's rom, its in more or less all of them now
I want it back to my ROM badly. where is the cab?
+1
i also do not need it, and would like to know how to turn it off
+1.
Its a pain to mute/un-mute during conf calls with this on.
Anyone?
For those users interested to find a solution to disable the curtain, here is the package. Could be a dll or a registry key.
Found a solution
Found a solution with reg key.
Goto HKLM\Software\HTC\Phone\Cover
There is a DWORD value ResumeInterval set to 5000 (5secs).
I changed it 300000 (5mins) and soft-reset.
Now the call starts with slider on, you only need to slide down once. Then it will wait for 5 mins of inactivity to come back up.
Probably higher values can be used, but 5mins should work for me.
As always, modify registry at your own risk...

I must admit the Topaz dialer (as nice as it may look) sux! What was wrong with the standard HTC HD dialer? it supported landscape and was functional.

and we want to find a way to turn it off

I had zero issue with the standard one, it was functional and did exactly as one would expect. Topaz dialer hides all options instantly making it absolutely dangerous to try and activate loudspeaker whilst driving . The other issue is landscape view, if using any rotate screen app and having the device in landscape (ie. whilst using GPS apps etc) and receiving a call there is no dialer shown at all!
Surely I am not the only one to notice these problems?
thanks man it helped
