Hi Guys,
I'm a newbie but just wanted to know if there are any gps programs that do not require GPRS activation and you can mark locations on it??
Thanks
i use Mapking (asia) and Garmin XT and neither requires GPRS activation. it helps if i download the latest data, and it can be through GPRS or any other internet connection (wifi for example), but it's not required for either to work....
why dont you use the windows live gps or google maps?

I use Garmin Mobile XT for serious routing but I agree, Google maps or Windows Live are brill when you have them on Sat photo and can actuall get a visual reference of your actual location and the buildings around you. If you view the maps/photos over Activesync or a free WiFi connection (like at home) for the area you want to use, they are stored within internal memory and if you disable data connection (or better still the phone) it will use these stored maps as GPRS is unavailable.
EDIT: Actully just checked and the Google ripoff guys have stopped that. The program halts without a data connection! Bummer!
Hi,
all of a sudden I have this problem with my Kaiser that I can't access the internet using WLAN any more:
-turn on Kaiser Wifi in Comm Manager: ok
-connect to my WLAN: ok
-optain IP: ok (I see IP address in phone and on clients list on my WLAN router)
-Internet Explorer on Phone: no joy, always "Page not found"
-Network Test Utility on Phone: no joy, ping always times out
-also other applications (e.g. Quick GPS to update the satellite position data) can't access the internet
Does anybody have a clue? It used to work, and I don't know what could have caused this, I don't remember having changed anything.
My WLAN router and connection to the internet works of course...

Give the wifi more power?
Can you ping the phone from another computer on your network?
Do you have proxy settings on the phone?

Thanks for the suggestion, I have not tried to ping my phone, will do it when at home.
Proxy settings? where could I configure those? I do'nt find anything in then Internet Explorer - I'm quite new to Windows Mobile.
To ChumleyEX: even when I am in the same room as my router with 100% signal strength it does not work..
i would look in the router settings

The phone had been working fine with the same hardware and firmware?
I've seen this issue with some WiFi routers, you need to increase the power of the phone WiFi signal, even when the phone is at 5 cm from the router.
In my case only old WM 6.0 radios, or 1.58.26.20 WM 6.1 radio connect without problems on "low power" setting, and from very far away.
I'm not sure what's wrong with that router, I have 4 laptops and all connect fine (obviously the laptop antena is 100 times bigger, and it has a lot more power available, but with the phone at 5 cm from the router, that's not the problem)
Solved thanks to
ChumleyEX and vcespon: you were right!
I had to change the wifi power slider to "best performance". Now it works.
Thank you.
vcespon: to the radio you mentioned (1.58.26.20 WM 6.1 radio), do you know where I could get it and flsh it?
aw I was right, I feel all tingly inside.
Tnx mate, i've been looking at this problem all day. Increasing the radio's signal strength worked for me too.
thanks... it works
Anyone know about some software to the Kaiser to find and connect to wifi networks?
Find and connect?
Are you talking about the build-in wifi or scanning and hacking?
If its scanning doing a searfor for "wififofum" in google might help you find other tools.
If its for hacking... this isn't the place and you won't get help on that.
And to be honest, I've never been able to. I use backtrack on my pc laptop instead.
i tried the 1.14, 1.16 and 1.17 and the problem is with all of them..
anyway, i can connect to my router with a very good signal.. but when i try to sign into windows messenger or surf with opera, it doesnt work.. i keep getting connection problems. when im lucky i can sign in to msn but it dies out after 15 minutes saying it lost the connection (even though its still connected to my router). sometimes i can surf a page or two and then it says theres a connection problem again.. it doesnt make sense
has anyone had this problem? any solutions?
bumppp.. this is so annoying, especially since i use wifi everywhere (dont have a dataplan since wifi is available almost everywhere i go)
im sure im not the only one who has this problem
For some reason within the past month my wifirouter software isn't working anymore. It says it's connected but when i try to connect my laptop it connect but has no internet signal. Does anyone know what is going on? Is sprint stopping me from tethering my laptop to my phone? Sometimes i will get "a remote connection has ended your session" message.
