Shortcut to Speakerphone - Tilt, TyTN II, MDA Vario III General

I have had a search around using the Google search and not been able to uncover anything, the forum search does not appear to be working very well for me either.
What I am keen to find out is if there is a Soft/hard button shortcut to picking up a call and having it go onto speakerphone instantly.
When driving or otherwise occupied for example and the phone is Locked/Password protected it is impossible to get to the Speaker On button on the Phone Interface without divering alot of attention or actually having to slide the keyboard and type the password in.
Perhaps I am missing an obvious thing from documentation but if anyone could point me in the right direction or perhaps some software/reg tweaks which can achieve this it would be much appreciated.
Cheers.

When on a call press and hold Send (Green button), if this opens an application or doesnt work try deleting \Windows\Long_Send.lnk

Reassign the side OK button on Tilt?

Hi,
I've successfully re-mapped the PTT button by following the instructions from this forum. I imagine the same procedure would apply to the small OK button immediately below the jog-wheel, but I don't know where to start. Of course, the button is not present in the Settings/Buttons applet - that would have been too easy.
First, how to disassociate it from its present function (Start Menu/OK)? And once disassociated, what is the button code to enter in the registry?
I tried aebplus, and it sort of works - but the start menu still comes up on the first keypress if invoked in the Today screen.
Any ideas on how to re-map this otherwise useless key?
Thanks,
Mike.

You sound like a jerk for posting that I did not search when the reply prior to mine was 6 months ago.
Did you even read the thread? None of the links you posted had instructions/advice on how to remap the side "ok" button.

yes i was about to say. non of them have steps or even telling you anything related to how to get it.
all it says is people trying it matter and they failed.
if there was no solutiion you should have just said no solution, it would have saved you time searching all that and also us bashing you
the 4th link does have some good information, lemme just quote from it

The side "ok" button is a tough one because it has multiple functions. In programs, explorer windows, and settings it acts as an OK button but when you're at the today screen it acts as a Start Menu button. I kinda get the feeling we're not going to be able to change this for a while. Not until someone releases a keymapper specifically for the Kaiser.

even with the 8525 nobody has been able to re-map the ok button...it's still the biggest mystery, hehe....but now that they eliminated one button on the Tilt we really do need the ability to remap the ok button now...

I have the side OK button remapped in spb pocket plus v4 under the buttons menu in settings and the only thing you have to do is take focus off the start menu then it works as expected.

It's really easy with help of AE Button Plus.
You can pretty much map any hardware key on your device with this great app.
I have it setup to be able to copy and paste by using the sliding keyboard and pressing Window Key + C to copy and Window Key + V to paste among other cool shortcuts.
Cheers!

Thanks Rayan. I downloaded the AE Button Plus program for my AT&T Tilt, and it is working fantastic for remapping buttons. I was able to remap the side OK button to lock my phone by holding it for a few seconds. I love the way it also lets you leave the button with its default setting for one press, but create other actions for multiple presses.
By the way, the phone locking works fantastic. It allows me to answer calls, but doesn't activate any of the other phone functions until I unlock the phone. That's perfect for carrying the phone in my pocket. Also, incoming notifications don't unlock the phone, so that I won't accidentally turn-on a bunch of applications while the phone is in my pocket. The unlocking action is very simple.
I've also mapped volume up and down to a long press of the soft keys. That alleviates the need to use the stylus to select the volume button. Great.
The AE Button Plus program was what I've needed all along to customize my phone. It would've saved me a lot of time.
One other note, I downloaded the 2.6.3 version of the program, rather than the freeware version, but I haven't gotten any info on the cost. I may be disappointed in the near future if this program automatically deactivates. Do you know if I should expect a disappointment? I would pay for this program, but I'm not sure how much it's worth to me, but I saw no information on the cost. Do you know?
AFAIK there is only one version, if you want the registered version you buy a license and there's a procedure to activate it, otherwise it uses the free version with a couple features disabled and a nagscreen once in a while.

Idea for a Useful App - Anything like it?

I was curious if there is an app that will, upon pressing and holding a key such as the PTT key or end key, would subsequently end all running tasks, lock the phone, and put it in standby.
If there is such an app would anyone care to enlighten me? If not, I think there may be a market for such a thing. I could be wrong, I've been wrong before and I'm sure I'll do it again soon.
I tried searching xda with google and the xda search and didn't get lucky. Sorry otherwise.
I must confess that would be very useful. Not being a programmer i don't know if its possible or not. Any ideas anyone??
I have not come across such a function and all I have been looking for is a utility that will allow another button to put my tilt into standby (I find it a little difficult feeling the power button w/o looking)!
perhaps we should ask WAKU (creator of wktask) to see if he can import that excellent software into buttons. He has all functions available thru wktask such as closeall/suspend and he can add lock easily. he hasn't updated as frequently anymore perhaps more people should donate
Ill email him, to see if hes willing to do it!
I, too, have asked about this type of functionality. I'd love to hit the power button or the PTT button and have it close all apps (except for those in an exception list) and put the phone in standby.
The last time I asked about this the best reply was someone suggesting that perhaps a mortscript could be written to do it. I never looked further into it.
its possible, but i have never maked programs for ppc =/.. if someone has an idea, or if it is like c/c++ i can..
I use the excellent and free AE Button Plus.
I have a triple press of the ok button place the phone in standby.
(I have a double press of the ok button launch S2U2 to lock the phone and turn off the display but leave the GPS running)
pjam
Its definitely possible. All the individual components have already been done: You can remap the PTT button, , some 3rd party task managers have "end all" features, and software like S2U2 can easily lock your phone. Perhaps you could rig some sort of script to run them all, or find someone to program up a less jerry-rigged version. I don't think that the app would be all that popular, maybe the script is the best way to go.
I am fairly certain I can do this with an action sender & using one of the keyboard driver shortcuts (Short_Power.lnk). I will have a go at compiling a small actions send proggie & seeing if I can compile the kill arguments into it. I can definitely get you into suspend or stand-by, it's the killing of everything else that getting me. So far I can't get both functions into the same key press.

Accidentally pressing keyboard shortcut to SEND SMS

I don't know if anyone can help me with this, or has experienced the same problem, but .... when typing SMSs on the keyboard I frequently mistype and somehow send the message before I have finished typing it. But have no idea how, I have tried pressing every key to replicate but without success, seems like I must be pressing a mysterious key combination which is a Send short cut but can find no documentation of this. Can Anyone help and is there a list of keyboard short cuts anywhere?
Thought that I had found the answer to my own post - in the phone manual. You canbring up a list of keyboard shortcuts by opening up a message programme, eg SMS, MMS or email, then in message list press and hold H key. On list is S - Send, but if I try this in open message just get SSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS repeated across doc. Any help anyone. Nearly there but not quite!
you're accidentally pressing the left softkey on the keyboard
You are pressing the softkey by accident on the keyboard. Its very annoying, and I dont know of any solution at present.
Surur
Same problem here. Happens alot.
Yeah, the only way is to completely disable the soft keys, but you have to completely disable them, as in on every screen & including the two on the front of the device. Not very practical.
Same thing w/me, i just learned to be more careful when typing the letter T cause thats when i always hit it.

Bingo "t" or "r" Stupid Large Fingers.
This was happening to me but sorted it by using a little app called AE Button Plus
It doesn't stop you catching the button but you can change the soft keys so that they need to be double pressed to activate. You can also change them to a long press or 3 presses but i found a double press was good for me.
The downside is that it affects the soft keys on the front of the phone too as essentially to the phone they're the same button. That trade off is well worth it for me though, was bloody annoying sending blank txts every 5mins!

Yeah, happens too often. I sent reply email today that said "It"
Thanks to all replies, guess that's what I must be doing - bloody annoying. I already have AEButton Plus so if I can't be more careful with the fat fingers I may try that solution.

Center button on Diamond...

Hi, I'm still relatively new to using the diamond... (approx 2 weeks...)
This is my first WinMo phone also so I'm just trying to get use to it. My question is, does anyone find very little use for the Center Button on the Diamond? Don't get me wrong, I love the fact that around the button is a senstivity for autofocus and zooming, etc. But other then taking a shot with the phone I rarely use that middle button. Am I doing something wrong or if possible can someone tell me what else the center button can do because I'm still finding doing things on the Diamond a little bit slower... Thanks.

If you press and hold on a file for example you get the basic editing options such as paste, copy, delete, rename etc...
There are many other uses but I have to get back to work!! Im sure more members are gonna guide you.
Luck!
I mostly use it for zooming in and out while browsing.
it can be enabled to do scrolling for almost any app - search the forum and you will surely find it...
The centre button is essentially an 'action' button. If you notice that immediately north/south/east/west of it (on the ridged circle) there are softkeys you can press down to navigate and highlight whatever is on screen, depending on the context of what you are using (TF3D, file explorer, browser, etc) much like using the arrow keys on a standard pc. The centre button can then be used to 'select' the highlighted item much like tapping the stylus on it (or hold the button down like holding the stylus to get the context menu etc etc) this makes it easy to select things in a narrow list if you dont want to use the stylus and have fat fingers
Hope this goes some way to hint at what you can use it for!
It's good to get used to some hardware keys, this center button and navigating with 'arrow keys'.
It gets you more speedy and productive, using touchscreen is not ALWAYS the best, it's quite inaccurate (since I don't push always exact at the right spot). So on those moment it's very helpful to become familiar with the HW keys
edit: Oups, i'm not on the good topic ! Sorry
If a moderator can remove this post ...
actually i use the hardware buttons a lot, just cause i like the way they feel when i press them. i know, sounds weird, but hey, they do a hell of a job for me.

Disable power button in landscape?

The stock AT&T rom does this and I was hoping someone would know how to enable this feature on a cooked rom. I always end up putting my device in sleep when im typing anything. Ive looked through the registry to try and find where i could change it with no success. Searching also didnt seem to yeild anything relevant then again that may have just been due to the keywords i used. Anyone know how to do this?
Thanks
I would also love to know how to do that. It is really annoying when UI'm in the middle of texting and I hit the power button by accident.
I have seen a cab floating around here somewhere just after the tp2 was released, you should be able to find it with the search
i tried searching first but was unsuccessful at even finding anything related to what i was looking for. Not even someone asking about it. i guess i will have to think of some other keywords than landscape and powerbutton. any suggestions? i know its possible and its probably just a registry key
it's a good idea. Me also find that when writing to Querty keyboard presses power button. Could this feature be added to the energy rom.
well it could be added to any rom, but i wouldnt imagine NRG adding it by default. It could be rather bothersome to some people. I wouldnt be surprised if he added it to the addon folder for his roms if a few people requested it and sent him the cab to host. Then all you gotta do is put it your UC folder and it would be auto installed anyways. Anyone know if the keyboard mapper program handles the power button and could do this? id rather see a cab then using a whole app but at this point i will settle for anything i can get. mabye i will try it when i get off work
dang you really gotta choose the right keywords to get anything. long story short, found a thread with a link to another thread that had the cab. And it works great! better than i had hoped. disables the short press and you can hold the power button to bring up slide to shut down which has a sleep option. but if ur in landscape u have to hold the power button to get it to come back on. there are multiple profiles thats just the one that works best for me. give it a try:
forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=546094
find the program:
hAndy Power button
It's a tiny little CAB that does 1 thing.... disables the button when keyboard is open
works great.
