diamond keeps hanging - Touch Diamond, MDA Compact IV General

my diamond kept hanging even after applying the tweaks .... anyone has the same experience?
It works fine initially but hanged once soft reset is done.
How? Help!!!!

Have you used this tweak?
2. Boost TFL3D Performance --> HKLM\System\Storagemanager\Fatfs and change key Cachesize from 16384 to 32768
or this tweak?
6. Boost TFL3D Scrolling Speed --> - HKLM\SYSTEM\GDI\GLYPHCACHE\limit = 16384 or 32768 (DWORD decimal)
if so, do a hard reset, and don't use them for god's sake. It was stupid to put them on the list in the first place....

if u dont mind, care to explain how i can access this registry?

Download and use a program call regeditSTG.
If that doesn't work, try total commander, or resco explorer, they both should have registry editing options.
If all else fails... you could always use google.

I can't be 100% sure, but my best guess... yes it is...

i had the same problems. but for me it works if i just leave out the fatfs tweak.
maybe it can be used with lower values, but i do not want to hard reset my device all the time.
someone wants to try?

It is indeed one of the tweaks, which makes your device hang. It hangs when it tries to start the touchflo 3d. My advice, remove the tweaks from the tweaks topic.

thxs guys I had removed it .... Since the time i gotten my diamond i have been hard resetting for almost 20 times .... faintz.....

I have GLYPHCACHE limit set to 32768, just works fine...
My StorageManager Cachesize is 16384, so it might be the GLYPHCACHE setting is the problem???

i also got hang when i use
Boost TFL3D Performance --> HEY_LOCAL_MACHINES\System\Storagemanager\Fatfs
Change key Cachesize from 16384 to 32768
Default 16 (DWORD decimal)

Can't start it again
After some of tweaks (guess FatFS) get green screen of Windows mobile and icon of running and system hang .
Tried hard reset , but the same .
Any way i can restart it normally now ?

Registry values returns into initial settings

When I tune my registery, the values returns into the initial values after a soft reset. Is it normal ?
I use PHM registery editor.
An example is for this tweaks :
# HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\StorageManager\FATFS\
# Assign a value of 4096 to CacheSize
# Assign a value of 1 to EnableCache
# Navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\StorageManager\Filters\fsreplxfilt\
# Assign a value of 4096 to ReplStoreCacheSize
Wait a while (30 seconds or so) before you soft reset. WM5's persistant storage handling means that the registry is 'live' in RAM, and gets written out to the flash memory (persistant storage) periodically if there has been write access.
If the values still reset, make a bogus value (e.g. "Test = StillHere?"), wait again, reset. If your bogus value still exists, then the registry did get written away, but the other values don't 'stick' (may be overwritten by another application).

Turning the Wizard off (by holding the power key for 5 seconds) and back on instead of performing a soft reset works as well. This can be done instantly after editing one's registry.

Ok, works fine now .... good tweaks !
And Thank's !

Text truncated on device message

Hello all, first off, thanks to all the experts in this forum for spending so much time discovering and tweaking so folks with not so much free time (like me) can read here and get answers to just about anything.
I have a question regarding notes within a contact. I used to adjust a registry key named [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\ActiveSync]"BodyTruncation" on my Treo 750 to enable pretty large amounts of data to be contained within a note. This registry key does not seem to have the same effect on the Kaiser. I used to set it to dec 20480 and had no problems with the “Text truncated on device” with the 750 but my larger notes are still being truncated on the Kaiser even with the setting changed.
Any ideas?
Thanks in advance.
Joe
Hi Jpasint,
I use a Kaiser (TyTn II) and also alter the reg to 20480 as you do - it works for me when I proform a hard reset and the first piece of software I install (or open assuming it is already installed in your rom) is the regedit, HKEY Current User\software\microsoft\activesync\Body truncation = 20480 decimal as you do... then go to Activesync and tick the contact box and sync away... you will see that you no longer are getting "text truncated". As the size of your notes increase you may need to increase the Body truncation. I think it is best to do this in increments of 5120 each time.
I hope this helps and please let me know how you get on.

J

Registry tweaks to save some RAM

The most important thing. Back up your user data!! You cant harm your device since you can almost in any case master reset but when performing master reset the internal storage will be erased. Back up your registry as well. Some services, networks and relateed stuff may stop working.
Every time WM boots, system writes amount of free memory. Check it and compare free memory spare after performing selected tweaks.
HKCU\Performance\Available RAM on boot
I have performed master reset, set Default homescreen (WeatherUpdateService take too much ram space), installed Resco Explorer, Registry Editor, Celetask, and Oxios Memory. Micro SD is inserted but all programs are stored in internal memory.
Do not continue without registry backup (PHM Registry Editor works fine) and back up of user data from internal memory (Sprite Backup)!
Tweaks:
Safe to modify.
At your own risk.
Go to Start Menu -> Connection Setup and check if "Enable Auto Configuration" is turned off.
\Windows\StartUp (Delete)
- btdwake.lnk
- PKG.lnk
btdwake = Bluetooth Disk Driver (BT FTP)
HKLM\init (Delete)
- Launch98: TimeWizard.exe
- Launch99: SAPSettings.exe
- Launch100: uptimesqm.exe
- Depend100
- Launch101: ConnectionSetupAuto.exe
HKLM\Services (Delete. Be vary carful with these keys! WM may not start if you delete needed key. Backup this registry if you would need these services in the future.)
- App
- BTAGSVC
- BthAsPlugin
- BTHIDSVC
- CERTENROL
- Clock
- GPSDaemonService
- HtcServices
- OBEX
- SDS
- SNApi
- SqmUpload
- Stk_service
- USSD
- Windows Live
HKLM\Services (Delete)
- Trusted (this key cannot be deleted, so delete all values except "SIMInit: siminit.dll")
HKLM\System\StorageManager\FATFS (Set)
- EnableCache: 0
HKCU\Software\HTC\ConectionSetup (Set)
- EnableAUTODetect: 0
- EnableAutoNotify: 0
HKLM\Drivers\BuiltIn (Create "Flags: 4" (DWORD))
- Error Reporting

HKLM\Comm\Cellular\Wap\Driver (Change)

Wings defaults:
- Available RAM on boot: 19 701 640 B
- Task Manager shows: 19,252 KB
- Freeing memory using Oxios Hibernate: 20 260 KB
- Task Manager shows then: 19,720 KB
After the tweaks:
- Available RAM on boot: 21 381 120 B
- Task Manager shows: 20,736 KB
- Freeing memory using Oxios Hibernate: 21696 KB
- Task Manager shows then: 21,356 KB
Well, cca 1.5 MB isnt too much but since there is so little RAM, every single MB counts.
Now I have to put all the programs back on Wings and see if there will be any change.
Notes:
- "Flag = 4" means service wont be loaded
- I tried to set "Keep = 0" for services in "HKLM\Services" but it just did not work so smooth as deleting. ("Keep = 0" should unload the service after initialization)
- Its mostly BlueTooth/OBEX/A2DP, SIM/SIM Toolkit, network services... which i dont use so much.
Do you know any other RAM saving tweak (only memory related)?
Has anyone tried to change IE cache limit? It returns back to 5120 after reset...
Weather Program
This does sound awesome! But I do not want to change my home screen. From what your saying also, it seems that the weather program (2nd icon) is constantly on (auto update and display), which in turn, is using up RAM. Is it possible to just close/delete it from windows itself or the registry? I think this will give us at least another 5-6k in ram which will put us at around 18 or so from start. I am fine with 18, but not 12 from start.
If you dont use the HTC homescreen the Weather Update wont be loaded. Otherwise you just have to live with that.
This is pretty crazy. You advice do delete services without explaining what each do..
For example:
Stk_service - what if user wants to use SIM Toolkit?
OBEX- sending files, contacts over bluetooth?
If users want to use BT (OBEX, A2DP, HID, GPS), SIM Toolkit, USSD messages, Windows Live... then they just have to not delete these services or restore them from backup (just import missing registry).
I thing the memory size is much more crazy than this.
Thanks a lot! I will try it soon.
Hi! Thanks for the great tips!
I did ALL the tweaks described and now my windows messenger does not start, I thought i did a registry backup but apparently i screwed up. Does anybody now what values i have to re-enter to get messenger to start working again without doing a reset?
Thanks...
(I know i totally screwed up when there was BIG RED LETTERS SAYING "Do not continue without registry backup (PHM Registry Editor works fine) and back up of user data from internal memory (Sprite Backup)!" but i did. Kick me)
one (or more) of these tweaks makes my SMS service stop working (no matter if I choose to recieve/send SMS over gprs or gsm)
any which one that would be? (I know I could just try them all )
Hi!
Someone has tryed to install fring on this device?
I did it yesterday and i disable autostart immediately, but i have seen that before installing it i had 4-6 mb free cleaning the ram with terminate all and now about 9 not cleaning and 10-11 closing all apps.
I have no time for a complete test at the moment but if someone can try to install fring and test the phone it will be great.
Bye
When I disable this service, I can't send any SMS !

How did you delete them? They seem to be locked by the system...
Edit: After doing the registry-changes I've 17,536 KB free.. still far from 20,000 which I was hoping for..
Ff you know any other tweaks, like how to make it turn of the screen completely (instead of just turning of the backlight), please tell me (wouldn't save RAM but battery)
Thanks...

HKLMWTF?

Ive never hacked a WM device and I have no clue how to get to the HKLM so I can make changes. Trying to find this information is exhausting so I figured Id just ask and get a simple answer.
Thanks in advance.
registry editor
as mentioned already, it is a registry value (abbreviated)
HKLM would be HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE

Right, that Ive found out already(through my research). However, my question is how do I get there to use it to change things on my Diamond found here(http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=417873)?
you need an application to search the registry, try googling for PHM registry editor, I use that and it's good.

Well, if you are not that good on computer stuff maybe you should not touch the Registry Editor.
You could use simple installable .cabs to modify your Jewel how ever you want.
Why don't you state what mod you want to take forth and Members here will help you.
Greetings
if you download an exe file like PHM registry editor
if it's an exe you run it on the computer and it use activesync to install
to the pda
if it's a cab file you copy it to the pda and run it there
but as stated if you dont know what you're doing
messing around with the registry is not adviced

Ok, fair enough. I installed the .cab file for the blackberry connect but have no idea where to go from there.
Secondly, Id love to be able to do the things found on the updated diamond tweaks thread.
ie:
Wake Up on New SMS --> HKLM\Drivers\BuiltIn\RIL : DisableSMSWakeUpEvent <-- set to "1" by default. Change value to "0"
Prevent screen switching off during phone call --> HKEY_Local_Machine\Drivers\BuiltIn\RIL\EnableFastD ormantDisplayDuringCall to 0 (Note: does not work on all ROMs)
AND (tested and works on EU ROMs thanks to Rod65)
HKCU\ControlPanel\Phone\Sleep switch value from 1 to 0
Adjust screen sensitivity: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Drivers\TouchPanel
Value = PressureThreshold
Change from the default dword:00000027 or 34 to dword:000000f0 or 240 in decimal
Automatically lock your Diamond --> HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ControlPanel\BackLight\AutoDevic eLockEnable from 0 to 1 and everytime your backlight goes off the device is locked
Enable Better Power Management
HKLM\Drivers\SDCARD\ClientDrivers\Class\SIM_Class
Set DisablePowerManagement = 0 (default=1)
HKLM\Drivers\SDCARD\ClientDrivers\Class\MMC_Class
Set DisablePowerManagement = 0 (default=1)
HKLM\Drivers\SDCARD\ClientDrivers\Class\NAND_Class
Set DisablePowerManagement = 0 (default=1)
Thanks. Sorry for being such a pain.

Part of my problem is Im running off a mac mostly. I have a PC on the side but I hate using it. I figured thats the only way I can get to the registry on the phone though.
Prob best to install either Diamond Tweak or Advanced config which is like a GUI interface to do alot of the registry tweaks plus alot more.
I would also suggest that you'd get a little more help if you wouldn't use such obnoxious terms as "WTF" in the title of your post.

[Q] TyTN II: messaging app problem (tmail.exe)

It's been over 2,5 years now since I bought my TyTN II and been using it all this time without problems. But few days ago, my messaging app - tmail.exe - suddenly started to drastically slow down (for example: showing or deleting a message takes ~30 seconds, sending takes even more time).
Interesting thing is, that after deleting a few messages it started working normally. Received another messages, and slowing down returned. Also deleting e-mail accounts I've had configured helped for a while.
tmail.exe seems to be using 90+% of CPU during any task. There's lots of free memory, since no other app is open.
I did not install any new software for months now. Messaging app database is in the phone memory, not storage card.
Been googling and reading posts for hours now, but couldn't find any solid answer. Any suggestions (preferably other than doing a hard reset)?
Thanks in advance.

Well, tmail.exe is native to WM, so should work properly with preinstalled NET CF. Either way - according to cgacutil I've had installed version 2.0.7045.0 before, now i have both it and 3.5.7283.0.
All in all, I didn't notice any change, but thanks anyway. Any other ideas?

alright ...!!! try to reduce the cache on the display screen, If you delete the cache, it will alleviate the working memory system. Well .. to clear the cache when the internet, you can go to internet option and clear the cache. Changed to 32768 and restarted the device. Unfortunately it didn't fix the problem.
I think its more of an issue of tmail itself. I've kept googling on that and found a post stating, that when number of stored messages hits some threshold - it starts to slow down. Still, even if it is true (is it?), then I wonder why it does slow down so rapidly - from normal work to extreme slowness. For example yesterday deleting ~15 SMS took my phone approx. 2 hours (doh!).
Perhaps there is some kind of indexing service on all messages that is the reason behind this?
