Preferred data connection for weather update ? - Touch Diamond, MDA Compact IV General

Is there a possibility to select Wifi as the default data connection to update the weather info? Because I am abroad a lot and roaming charges are not really cheap!
Thanks for the input!

Weather should not automatically update, mate. I never had any issues here, I always wait until i'm "wified" before updating everything.

wifi the best IMO.
GPRS, 3G can be quite slow...

I think he wants to keep weather update automatic, but, update ONLY IF the connection is wifi.
I don't think there is a way, so, I am too disabled autmatic update (update manually after connected to wifi).

Im trying to get the weather update settings to the wifi too. Im having a problem is that i cant get the weather update when im connected via the wireless broadband or fix braodband. It will only update when it download the data from my phone line.. is this normal? Y cant i update via the internet connections? pls help..

Cingular 8125: Auto-network switching?

Hello All.
Does anyone have an addon or something which will help me quickly or automagically switch between different wireless networks and the GPRS network?
Basically, if im in a wifi area, i want it to switch to a wifi which i tell is acceptable (i.e. at work, home, and on UCF campus). Otherwise, iwant it to auto set itself to GPRS.
Any suggestions? Or even a quick-network changer would help...
Thanks.

Great question! I have been wondering about this too since I just got my 8125 on 5 days ago.
No one has any modification that would allow this?
Upgrading to 2.2 fixed this for me.
If you select 'My ISP' as your connection or uncheck the proxy server, you will be able to switch between wi-fi and GPRS automatically. The only catch is that you still need to turn on wi-fi manually. Leave it on all the time will quickly drain your battery in one or two hours.

Forcing wifi-connection over gprs (and disabling gprs)

So, I had another topic about gprs but now I'd really like to know how to force the wifi over gprs. Also how to disable the gprs without deleting the settings ?
No need to make another thread about the same topic which is one below this one.
Best way I have found is in the comm manager disable the data connection and enable wifi, some things like weather and such have issues using wifi for updates, and sometimes I found texts would not go through on just wifi.
Then when your done disable wifi and trigger the gprs to reconnect, just remember not all applications like to work on wifi.
It doesn't work like that. Eve though I disable data connection and enable wifi (which connects ok), phone still insist of connecting to gprs.
Is this really this stupid thing that I must delete my gprs, which I use daily anyway but which is extremely expensive when traveling to other countries and using it there.

3G after wifi PROBLEM!! wont connect

Hello, I'm from Argentina and data connections aren't as cheep as elsewhere. So I use APNdroid to "connect and disconnect" my 3G apn. The connection itself works great after I turn on the phone. But if I use wifi on the N1 and then I turn off the wifi antena the 3G connection never comes back on, even if I don't use the APNdroid and leave it turned on during the wifi usage.
It's simple, 3G works, I use wifi, 3G stops working.
I have to reset the phone to get 3G back on.
Any info or thoughts about this issue?
I'm on eclair 2.1 EPE54B so there's no froyo update for me yet. Don't want to root it quite yet, it's way too new
Thank you in advance!
Nobody has any idea on this issue?

[Q] No more 3G/E data connection after trying out Wi-Fi hotspot

So I was trying out the Wi-Fi hotspot in CM 6.0N1 for the first time...and that worked fine...and I was pretty happy about that.
But after I disabled it. I can no longer get a 3G/E data connection anymore on my phone. I made sure to check that "Data enabled" had a checkmark in the settings.
I then restored a backup...and that didn't fix my data connection issues.
I also tried to do a Wi-Fi hotspot again, and that no longer works.
I am, however, still able to just connect via Wifi...
Does anyone know if there are any other settings or steps I should do in order to get my phone's data connection going again on 3G/E ?
Thanks...
Its a T-Mobile Outage. No fault on you.
Ah. Okay. Thanks for the info...
And here I was wondering what I had done to screw up my data connection...
What timing on T-Mobile's part

Doesn't sync apps or load system update

Hello everyone! I just got my G watch R and unpacked it. The first thing I wanted to try is to update the system. But it wouldn't let me do that. Keeps saying that there's an error without even trying. I have done some research on the network and I have found that this doesn't work with wi-fi turned on. I have turned it off but I have a really slow 2G connection with speed at about 10 KB/s. I will let it download for the night but it doesn't look like solving the issue. Besides that apps and watch faces that I install don't sync with my phone with wi-fi turned on or off. My phone is Xiaomi Mi3W and the firmware is MIUI 4.4 (developer rom)
Wi-Fi is not enable in the watch. But should work find with Wi-Fi turned on the phone. The watch uses Bluetooth to connect to the phone.
Apparently there is Wi-Fi connection support in the next update. But we shall see.
But like I said as long as your watch is connected to your phone via Bluetooth , having Wi-Fi on/off shouldn't matter.

I have seen other topics about watch disconnecting. And the problem was Wi-Fi being turned on. And for me that worked. The Watch didn't update via Wi-Fi but it does update via 2G. But the apps still won't sync. Any ideas on that?
Have you tried to manually sync yet?
