Push Email Issue - Touch Diamond, MDA Compact IV General

Strange problem - Diamond recieces email via M$ Exchange no problem but does not seem to send data back (e.g. does not update server that mail has been read) - any ideas?
I am on ROM 1.35

I am noticing some issues with push mail. looking at the logs it looks like the device forgets to wake and reinitialize a connection to ping the server. So activesync shows connected but it wont sync on new mail.

Looks like a ROM issue. I didnt have this problem with the kaiser. I will check the reg settings to see if anything looks different, but i have a bad feeling its Rom issue. I think we need to complain to HTC and get their engineers to sort it

ActiveSync - complete resync?

Hi all,
First device I have seen this with. Occasionally, usually after a soft-reset, the device starts to sync and then puts up a message saying something has changed on the server and will require a complete resync on behalf of the Kaiser - all info since last sync will be lost.
I have found no way out of this other than to do a complete resync (which then looses my speed-dials on the home screen etc.).
I am synching with my laptop (XPSP2, AS4.5) and am not using an exchange server for email. My Kaiser is HTC standard with the shipped ROM.
Anyone else seen this or have a fix?

Yes, I also get this every now and then but never noticed to miss anything after the resync.

Same here. I think it is because either the PC or the handheld (or both) are responding slowly with ActiveSync - I have never noticed a problem or lost changes either. Try soft rebooting both and then try again. Also, is the USB cable you are using especially log? That also may have an effect...
Hmm - not so sure - my tends to do it a*after* a soft reset and the USB cable s direct to the machine (not through a hub) and is the one supplied with the phone when I got it.

I get it too and I agree, it seems to happen after a soft reset. Never happened with my 8125/Wizard. I can't offer more than that, sorry.

activesync error 80072f78

I upgraded to dutty's 6.1
I can sync to desktop by usb and to exchange by internet, but I can't sync to exchange by usb and get error message 80072f78 -
any solutions
not trying to be rude or anything, but googling that error code came up with a wealth of info.

I tried a) deleting proxy server - didn't work b) registry change - didn't work c) changing activ sync connection to internet from automatic - didn't work
It's stupid because I can sync to exchange via internet (just not via usb) so it's not a big deal - just annoying
I'm kind of stuck - more suggestions welcome

Are you running 4.5? Try uninstalling and reinstalling activesync.
If not, try this.

I tried searching for this error 0x80072f78 message and I don't seem to get this message under the same conditions listed in the posts that I've found. I am getting the message at random in PIE with either GPRS/3G or when connected by USB. I have no problems downloading mail but can't use anything else for data (google maps etc). It doesn't happen every time but is very spotty. ATT tech support was no help as usual. I applied the registry change in the posts that discuss this error in relation to USB/active sync only and it did nothing. I'm using the latest att rom.
Any suggestions would be welcome. I've followed all of the suggestions that I can for people that are having the problem with active sync only and that has done nothing. I still have the problem when connected to gprs/3g. I have yet to find someone else posting that has this problem with both.

Well add me to that list then. A user I provide support for has an unmodified Hermes (yes I know this is the Kaiser forum) that was exhibiting this behaviour over the air. (But was fine over USB.)
It turned out that he had a proxy server configured on his 3G/GPRS internet connection (with T-Mobile) but that setting was no longer appropriate, due to changes made at the T-Mobile end. Switched off the proxy server setting and all was well again.

Thank the Lord for search functions - was having this exact issue and it was driving me NUTS! Anyway if you are having trouble syncing over gprs but not over USB then this is the fix! Thanks
Tasks Exchange
I get this error when tasks on my exchange (mail2web.com) account is active and my tasks on my AT&T Tilt is active. When I deactivate (options) the exchange tasks and the phone tasks, then activate only the phone tasks the error goes away.

Gmail, IMAP problems.

Does anybody else use Gmail, or any other email with IMAP through their Kaiser and experience problems?
Probably 90% of my Send and Receives end up with the error "Cannot connect to the incoming mail server...". Despite the status at the bottom progressing from Connecting --> Logging on --> Receiving Headers --> Disconnecting. This happens whether connected via HSDPA, WiFi, or sharing my computer's connection via USB.
I'm pretty sure I have the settings right as like I said, sometimes all the folders will synchronise and emails download correctly. Gmail also works fine through Outlook on my computer.
I use Gmail with IMAP and don't have any problems. I use it with both Gmail and my own domain (using Google apps)

I occasionally have the same problem with GMail. You will need to unlock the CAPTCHA. I will go for weeks without a problem, and then I'll have a few days when I have to do this 3-4 times a day.
First, close down your e-mail client. Then go to https://www.google.com/accounts/displayunlockcaptcha and complete all the fields.
Once you've done that, restart your e-mail client and it should work.

the problem might be that you are connected to your account from another place (PC, other PPC,...) at the same time. i think this could cause some problems with IMAP. make sure you are not connected to your account from elsewhere and then try with kaiser
I guess it just checks for new mails, and nothing else,I had same problem, it just used d/l new emails only. so if u go to gmail a/c and check d/l mail from so and so date, that might help.

That *shouldn't* happen as IMAP explicitly allows multiple connections, and actually makes allowances for this. I use Flexmail too which works fine, sorry I can't be more helpful
I've tried unlocking the Captcha, resetting the mail program. I'm now in the process of archiving my emails and reducing the size of the folders I synchronise. Hopefully it's as simple as the Kaiser struggling with message quantity.
Failing that, I'm going to trial Flexmail although I begrudge paying for a client when I've got a half decent (supposedly,) one pre-installed.

Can not send email after updating rom to 6.1

Three weeks ago I updated my TyTNII with the new official HTC rom (I've an unbranded HTC TyTNII).
This all went well.
After setting up an email account I could send and receive emails with GPRS and Wifi. No problems for days.
Suddenly next week I couldn't send emails anymore.
Receiving email is still working but sending email gives an error '....Check your network coverage or (and) your accountsettings.....'
Nothing changed, no additional software is installed, no software removed.
The problem of sending emails occured out of nothing.
I also used an other emailaccount (I checked the settings several times) for testing and had the same problem.
Does anybody know what causes this ?

Try this:
Start > Settings > Connections > Connections > Advanced > Select Networks > Edit > Proxy Settings > Make sure "This network uses a proxy server to connect to the Internet" is NOT checked.
Please post the results.

Re-setup the account with a different name. Seems like your account has been corrupted.
Either that or hard reset.

Yes, I had this problem. I setup the account again - and it STILL won't send. Really odd as it worked fine before 'upgrading' to 6.1.
It's independent of connection type. I use an independent email provider (fastmail) so I know that's not the problem. Any thoughts on how to delve deeper into the smtp settings than Pocket Outlook's menu system allows?

I have the same problem and it will eventually come back after account reset. Hopefully someone can figure out why.

I re-created the account under a different name and it worked fine for about a week, back to the same issue.
This is a SERIOUS problem that needs to be addressed, has anyone gotten any support from HTC in regards to this issue?
and me too.i have flashed alsorts of diffrent roms and radios with no joy.tred resetting up the email everytime.the frst week of using the first cooked rom was fine.after that nothing will solve the problem.
no matter if i load a new rom/radio.
i have now managed to half reload the t-mobile uk rom back to my phone and email is now working again but my phone will not awake from sleep now.
wish id never played with it lol,

I have had this problem countless times over the years of using a PPC with IMAP (AOL). Recreating account does work, but only for a while (sometimes month's, sometimes days, and sometimes not at all).
well mine will not work whatever 6.1 rom i try.i have finally managed to get 6.0 back to my phone (with alot of effort) and straight away its working using the same settings i used on the 6.1 roms.
i just cannot understand what the cause could of been.i really want the 6.1 rom as they are alot quicker and i love the threaded sms.anyway i can get threaded sms on a 6.0 rom? or does anyone know of a fix for the email.im using ntl email.
also forgot to mention that on the 6.1 rom emails from an internet address worked fine its just the pop3 acounts that dont work for me
Sure, for threaded SMS try Vito's SMS chat application. I prefer it over the winmo version.
My experience is exactly the same: each time I recreate the email account, the problem returns after a short while - usually a few days; it's very very annoying. I need to go back to 6.0...or are there any suggestions for a Pocket Outlook replacement?

I have this same issue but strangely enough I also had it on my Palm TX via VersaMail. The way I fix this issue on VersaMail is I put a semi colon after the email address... ie. Your [email protected]; . But this dose not work with WM6.1 email.

Telus - exchange server not automatically syncing?

I'm having an issue with my emails not automatically showing up. Basically, ActiveSync is not syncing with the Exchange server automatically. I have it set to sync as items arrive.
I have to manually hit send/receive to get my mail.
This worked fine on my Rogers Touch. In fact, I would get my emails before they showed up in my PC Outlook.
Anyone else having an issue with ActiveSync/Exchange on the Telus Diamond?

I've only had my TELUS Diamond for a couple of weeks now. I did see where it wasn't automatically syncing when I went from a Wi-Fi to a CDMA connection. I went into Comm Manager and reconfigured Wi-Fi to be on and the Data Connection to be on and ran a manual sync. After that I seemed to stay connected. It may also have had something to do with syncing through the PC and over the air to the Exchange server at the same time. In any case, I don't think it's TELUS or your Exchange server.
yeah, my wi-if and data connection are both on. I've called Telus and then HTC support with no luck.
This is my second Diamond with the exact same issue.
Im having trouble with getting telus mobile email to push to my device at a decent rate.

I've had recurring problems with this as well, using a Telus Touch Diamond. I have taken the habit of resetting the phone and then it works fine for a day or two, then I find it isn't working again. I get enough junk that if I'm not seeing mail in a couple of hours I know when it's stuck.
I think it's a phone software problem, but haven't got a clue what. I was using a P4000 on this network for over a year on the same exchange server service (4smartphone.com) and never had problems. I'm hoping for a rom update for this and other quirks that must be tended to - principally in the browser. Cheers!
I am having the same issue with my HTC Diamond. When setting the schedule to "As items arrive" it will connect to the Exchange server, but never syncs. When I do a manual sync then, it carries out the sync, but disconnects from Exchange afterwards.
This worked perfectly on my HTC TyTN on the same Exchange server.
