hi everbody i hope you are doing well
i have a problem with my tytnII External GPS
the problem is (i can`t change the external GPS setting)
---------------
i can change only(Programs and Access) but not Hardware setting
which is (port and rate)
the port set to NONE
the rate set to 4800
i don`t know why
--------------
i change about 5 roms but the same problem
i hope some one help me becuase the gps signal take long time to discovered and its slow
thanksssssss
You shouldn't have to change the external GPS setting as the TyTN II has an internal GPS receiver that works well.
Please read this thread
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=1515157#post1515157
for more Information.
What application do you want to use with your GPS? In order to get a good GPS fix you should run QuickGPS as it gets the satellite data for your current location via different connections, this helps to jumpstart the GPS.

thanks brother for your help
iam using Destinator 7
and iam doing the QuickGPS update every 6 dayes
..........
but the problem as i tell before its take time to discover the GPS signal
thanks alot
I have no experience with destinator on the TyTN II. As far as I have understood the thread I mentioned it might mean that you'll have to hard reset to start from scratch if you have messed with the "external GPS" settings. Other than that, setting destinator to use the internal GPS on COM4 with a baud rate of 4800 should be enough. Do you get a fix after 3-10 minutes, this is what it can take if you use it for the first time?
There's another thread just on
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=385286&highlight=radio+gps+fix
with a similar problem, maybe GPS test offers a solution for you.
Other than that, ISTR that during my time lurking in this forum (ca. past 6 weeks) there were some threads relating slow/no GPS fixes to radio issues. What radio/rom combo are you using?
Maybe a regular of the forum can chime in here and suggest a radio to try.

Hello, I have problem with Noni GPSPlot. When i try activate GPS in this application then it say me:
Error!
Unable to read GPS!
Does Noni GPSPlot working on HTC Kaiser? Other software for GPS like TomTom or HTC GPS Tool work fine on my Kaiser. I have original HTC ROM. Where is the problem? Best regards and thanks a lot for any help.
It works on mine
Check in Advanced Settings that GPS is on COM4 with 4800 bauds.
Then I only have the forst box checked and 48.0
Check that the fix is working in the Satellites menu.
First time i had used Goole map en tomtom 7 that was good adn my diamon found gps satellites. But now programs are finding the reciever but do not find any satellites. I made 4 hard reset and now it is the same "nothing". Is there someone who know how to fix it.
Thanks
Ps: I am belgian so excuse me for my english, I am doing what I can
same problem to me with navigon navigator 6. it automatically found the gps device but no satellites.
check the baudrate! it has to be 4800
All is good ( and at factory default ) COM 4 and 4800 but no signal in any programs (google map, IGO 8 , TOMTOM 7 , GPS positionning for wifi site survey)
I had make a new hard reset and reused goole map all good and reinstall IGO 8 and all good but I hope it will not change a new time. For IGO 8 I had used the normal install and not changing any thing but it used port 4 at 57600 for running. If something chang in a few days and no gps signal and satellites again I will post a new question. That is not as simple as a PDA with internal or external antenna with SD.

What's your settings in Settings/system/external GPS?
settings:
programmes : com 4
material : none and 4800
access : gps auto gestion "on"
@ dge
Het is ook mogelijk dat je het programma QuickGPS even moet runnen voordat de sateliet gevonden wordt. Om de 6 dagen even opnieuw downloaden.
Let me know..
sorry I do not speek weel deutsh and I had not undestand all in your reply. can you tell me that in english or french. This time I am not using the update of GPSquick but I can try and see. If you know how to disable it tel me too.

What about trying to change to first tab com2, second tab com4 4800, that's my setting and it works on all mentioned programs. I've selected com2 in TomTom.
I have not try because tomtom 7 just select for me the config and do not let me edit the settings, I will try on the divice only and tell you. but I notice that the 2 times that I install fring I had lose my GPS signal, the GPS is still detected but no signal.
Thanks to everybody
Could it be that you've enabled the Assisted GPS (for example with Schnap's advanced configurator?). I've read that this could cause some problems as well.
I have not enable A-gps and not downloaded QuickGps info. The last time that i used Advance config, just after the install my phone was realy slow without touching anything in config. But I do not know the difference between A-GPS and QuickGPS in the tabs.

Don't know the exact difference either, so from what I've understood: QuickGPS needs information from the internet in order to be able to get a quick fix as it knows more or less where you are from the GSM antenna's you connect to. AGPS helps in case there is no or bad GPS reception to get more or less a fix.
QuickGPS is functional and really helps. AGPS is not necessary in my opninion.

Quick GPS dont uses the gps hardware, it just downloads the position of the satellites for 6 days in advance. So your gps device knows where to look for the satellites.
for that I was reading somewere to use " othe NEMA " and it is finding directly GPS satellites so no need to wait 3 min for good GPS signal and it is working realy fine. There is only com 4 and com 7 but on com for its good, in IGO 8 that is 57600 baude on com 4 with internal and I do not know if I can use 57600 without killing my GPS antenna. For the moment all goes right and I hope it will continue, the first time that I experienced problems that was 2 after using prog or soon after a hard reset.
Thanks for those explainations and helping me, Iam sure that it will help other guys to.
oops, my bet.
Before you try change the setting(witch i believe must be correct) you have te run the QuickGPS prog. When downloaded it will give you a valid time(i think 6 days and a couple of hours). If you don't refresh this it won't work..
Hello, I was wondering what is the best setting for GPS in HTC Kaiser. I have selceted COM4 and 4800 baudrate. Is there any other settings for faster working gps in HTC Kaiser like baudrate change?

My Tilt works at COM4 and 115200 baudrate, with navigator 7, and works very fast.

There's a button up the top of this screen in the brown band labelled xda-wiki. If you go in there and have a good review, there's loads to read all about your device and even a section dedicated to answering this specific question (yes you already have the best setting for Baud rate and Com Port). The wiki is well worth a read and should really be read in full before asking questions that may be covered there! You will also find that GPS performance is highly ROM and Radio and to a lesser extent location dependent (one of the reasons why I reverted mine back to Windows Mobile 6.0 having tried the Windows Mobile 6.1 'upgrade') so what ROM and Radio is on the device and where are you located?
hey...
i got my kaiser just a few weeks ago and i installed garmin mobile xt. and now i want to use the internal gps of the kaiser but its not working. whenm i open the programm it is searching attached but not finding the gps.
what can i do about that?
the gps LED is working while garmin searches for gps...
i have the version 4.10.40wp
thanks for ur help!
nick
You need to go into the Garmin settings and change your gps device settings to Com 4 and the braud rate to 4600. You can test the braud rate to see what works best for you.
