For more than a month I am experiencing a strange issue: my Kaiser cannot re-align properly: I tried several times to go to settings > system > screen and re-do the alignment...after completion it seems that the whole left scrolling bar arrows react only if I click at the very left of it.
On the keyboard, if I want to type "t" I need to click between "t" and "y"
If I click on the centre of "t" the display will show "r"
How to solve this issue?
I have downloaded and installed at least 4 different ROMs, including the lastest from Dutty: no improvement
Thanks and waiting

more details
This two are the ROMs I have used recently:
WM6.1
Touch v6.1 WWE
Radio 1.64.08.21
Protocol 25.74.40.02W
and
Dutty's WM6.1 WWE
Radio 1.65.16.25
Protocol 25.83.40.02W
Thanks
Saulo
I forgot to say that I have two additional Kaiser: one under the brand HTC (Classic black and brown color) and one named MDA TMobile (grey and with a different exterior mask)
These 2 units work perfectly: alignment is perfect....under any ROM...
Thanks
Saulo
I had similar problems with my Hermes, I would have to realign the screen several times a day, it would each time be ok but only for a few minutes/hours. It was actually simply dirt trapped between the screen and faceplate on the edges. The dirt was applying pressure on the digitizer and would constantly move and change the location/force it applied and thus calibration was always thrown off. I disassembled the device, cleaned around the screen, reassembled and never had a problem again.
On the Kaiser it's fortunately not as easy for dirt to get in as on the Hermes as there isn't such a huge gap, but it could still be related.

Hi
This I think this is a weird one I'll try and explain the best I can:
A few days ago I noticed my Diamonds' touch screen was playing up, i.e whenever I pressed the screen somewhere it either a) took ages to register the touch or b) registered it in the wrong place.
I thought this was a software issue so thought I would try to re-align the touchscreen using the WinMo inbuilt tool. However I coudn't do that as it wasn't registering my key press on the start button. So I hard reset it and went through the config procedure.
Everything seemed to go OK and I felt relieved, the screen felt accurate again...BUT having used the device a little more it didn't quite feel right, it felt a bit slow to respond still (when compared to normal operation of a week ago).
I then noticed that I couldn't change my soft keyboard type when composing a text message (you normally can change this by click the keyboard icon on the bottom bar) and other apps e.g calendar etc, my keypress either didn't register or ended up being recognised a a press on the soft keys to the left or right e.g send/cancel. I thought that was a bit strange but made it worse was that on the odd occasion I did get it to register but not with any consistency.
I then experimented with other apps such as Opera which has another button on that part of the screen, that seems to be fine (albeit a bit slow).
So again i though it was a software problem, but now I'm not so sure...I've flashed with Hard SPL and a couple of the cooked roms (SwiftBL and Dutty), and tried a few different SPL's and the problem still persists. I have since reverted to the latest official Vodafone UK rom with a stock 1.37 SPL. Still the same result though.
Now here comes the tricky bit, I bought the Diamond off ebay a couple of months ago (it is the Vodafone UK version, is boxed but no voda receipt) as Vodafone wouldn't let me have one unless I was on a business contract. Like I said I don't have the Voda receipt.
Could it be the Touch screen has malfunctioned?
Are there any strange software bugs that could be causing this.
What are my chances of geting it fixed on warranty?
I need help desperately as I love the phone but now I have found the longer I leave it after aligning the screen the worse the touchscreen response gets so it becomes unuseable. I don't want to pay for a costly repair either.
All help and sugesstions appreciated.

Hi,
I seem to have developed a bit of a problem with HTC Diamond screen alignment...
I align the screen fine, it works for hours, days, minutes so various times of use.
I then use messaging, internet, Space Trader (my fave game) and all of a sudden, the stylus taps start to move off target. If I try to scroll up using the scroll bars, I end up highlighting text or tapping the wrong buttons.
I realign again and its fine...
Stock ROM at 1.93 recently upgraded from 1.37 as I thought the ROM update might fix but no...
Any ideas?
Rich
many have faced the problem but solution as of yet.
some say the prob is with the digitizer n needs to be replaced while if its a software prob then i guess the rom has missed biotouch.exe file i guess..
problem is with display, for some strange reason it start not responding, i have to change display in repair centre, for same reason...
Try first with mtty tool to format rom, and upgrade to 2.03 version stock rom, and see wha will happen, if continue, better send phone in repair centre, if it's in warranty...
Sometimes problem is with hardware like my with display, sometimes is problem software... It's randomly...
Hello guys, and first sorry for my English, but I've a big problem with my kaiser, i hope so much that somebody can help me... Since 2 month, some keys don’t work correctly, for example:
- The "windows" key, and phone keys (the red and green ones) are disabled
- The directional keys works only sometimes
- The keyboard is disabled
- The button affected to "voice command" seems to be blocked, because the voice command application is always launching (so i disabled that)
- The “OK” key take the function of the “Windows” Key …
So that the phone is not manageable, and since I’ve this problem, my battery has a poor lifetime (2 or 3 hours).
However, when I run android, some of these problems disappear, but the battery lifetime is always of 3 hours.
I tried to expose this problem to HTC, but as my phone is not under warranty (18 months only!!, arg…) they don’t want to help me. My operator Orange neither.
So I tried a lot of solutions, nothing work:
- try some ROM (win 6.1, win 6.5), RADIO (1.71.09.01, 1.70.19.09, 1.65.34.36), SPL (3.29, 3.34), and Android
- dissembled the entire phone to see if it was not a physical problem.
Do you think the mothercard, for example, is damaged? or only a problem with my config?
Thank you very much for your help…
HTC Kaiser
ROM WIN 6.5 shifu 32
RADIO 1.71.09.01
SPL 3.34
I have the same problem with my phone.. somebody please help...
Could be a stuck key, or a problem with the ribbon connector that connects the two halves of the phone together.
You might have to search this forum for instructions on how to take the Kaiser apart, then inspect the keypad and the ribbon connector. Hopefully all it needs is a little cleaning with some isopropyl alcohol...
O good idea. I know how to dismantle the phone, I've already did it, but i'll try to clean the connector with alcohol. Will return to say the results. Thank you!
I recently had to replace a cracked lcd (bought off eba) and now the digitizer wont respond. I sent the first back, and the second does the same thing. I have flashed numerous roms, including the factory ones,to no avail. All connections are good and clean. Do I need to change registry settings, or is there someway to "reset" to digitizer?
Thanks in advance.
The only thing that comes to mind is.

Not sure that I follow. I have looked for 3 days at older posts, tried their "solutions", but none worked. Did I miss one? If so, can you help point me in the right direction?
The title of your thread comes up at least every other week.

I had this problem. I did the Align Screen thing and it fixed it... Does the screen light up when you touch it?
The screen lights up fine, and has a good image. The stupid thing just won't respond to touch. I have tried tweaking the sensitivity in the registry, numerous hard and soft resets and at least 4 different cooked roms as well as the stock roms. The phone is hardspl'd to 3.29. I can bypass using the remote tool, but still can't align the digitizer.
Update: After still pouring throught the forums and trying everything I came across, still no luck. I have reflashed the stock rom (Cingular 6.1) and spl (1.93) per instructions found on here. If anyone knows how to fix this, please help! I can't even think of new google terms to try to find a fix. the phone works fine after running the remote alignment tool and bypassing the alignment. All keyboard buttons and softkeys work fine, it just won't respond to screen taps. Mods and seniors, I implore you, if you know the fix, please pm me.
I had the same problem, and I think it was because I removed the soft black liner that is between the screen and the bezel (because I was having a hard time getting the LCD to fit). I replaced the liner with one from another housing and now it works great. Good luck.
Try this, your going to have to take it apart again.
Check the ribbon where it's soldered onto the lcd, place a piece of tape over the exposed solder connections. For some reason mine was making some contact to metal and the touch screen won't work.
I put a piece of tape over it and it worked great. This was on a new replacement lcd as well
Thanks for the advice, but unfortunately it did not help. After now a third different replacement, I have pretty much given up.
I've been running hyper dragon III on my tilt for the past few years. A couple of days ago my tilt started acting flakey, pulling up sms, email, contact lists, and dialing random numbers ,44924444466634444.......repeating like a stuck key. I reset but to not avail. I took out the battery and reset again, no luck. I figured it was time to replace my venerable hyper dragon with a shiny new Rom. I chose a clean wm6.5 Rom, ahmedfikry wm6.5 23569 Tilt 3D UC light Rom V2 . It seemed to work... at first. I was excited with the speed, the response, of this new interface and smugly back patting myself ... when the buggy behavior returned; hmm, I thought, a bad flash?, so I went back to the wiki, reformatted SD card, reset, rebooted... no joy! It can't be viral...can it, or worse some malignant kaiser killer cancer; can it? Insights, ideas, recommendations? Please be kind, I'm very vulnerable right now....
UPS just delivered my brand new seidio extended tilt battery! It came a day early, oh joy! Murphy strikes again... : )
if it is starting programs that are linked DIRECTLY to hardware buttons, i would suspect your kaiser's buttons or the cables from the buttons have gone faulty (hardware problem).
everything you say seems to point to things that are linked with buttons...there is a button for sms/email, all the numbers have buttons (on the keyboard) and even the contact list is sometimes mapped to one of the soft keys on some screens (e.g. the "All Contacts" button on the contacts page of manila).
so perhaps your buttons are the problem...they might be "sticking" or a cable or set of cables might have come loose or they might have cracked.
the only other possibility i can think of is that your screen protector might need changing. even worse, your touch screen may have gone faulty (hardware problem). you can try realigning the screen but i doubt that will help if the issue is sporadic.
finally, you might want to see if something physical triggers the issue. maybe holding it your left hand upside down? maybe slide open the top? or maybe more frequent when the keyboard is hidden? or try to apply pressure near the buttons or near the frame of the screen to see if that makes the issues more frequent?
good luck!
ASCIIker thanks for your insightful reply.
I fear you to be correct. I did not think to correlate the type of programs and their use of hardware buttons. I did however disassemble my sick little baby last night after posting. I went looking for pocket gunk or loose connections. I had replaced the LCD about a year ago and while it work fine after that, a loose screw wasn't impossible. Too my never ending surprise it booted up upon reassembly, but to my disappointment it began to exhibit the same freaky symptoms. I decided to do a Rom flash, but now was unable to get to my tricolor screen! After about 20 attempts, I gave up turned it off and put in my new battery. A long charge later, I turned it on to drain and train the battery expecting it to resume its schizoid activity...but no! I find a lovely 6.5 win-mo screen an a well behaved phone. I'm determined to solve this conundrum. I would like to say it was the principle of the thing, but really I'm driven by my ocd nature reinforced by cheapo habits. ASCIIker, do you think if I disconnect the 'd pad' connector I might be able to confirm your hypo? I sure I can get it to repeat its bad behavior if just spend some time reloading and setting preferences. Once I get it perfect its sure to fritz out! Either way thanks again.
