Does anyone know how to disable the password request needed to unlock the phone ? I can't figure out how to do it.
oh my god... maybe settings -> lock should do the work ...
Not sure, but is this not covered in the manual?
Does anyone know how to disable the password at phone startup ? I set a password but I want to disable it again. The "lock" settings doesn't offer this option and the manual doesn't mention it. Please help.
Look at the tabs within owner's information.
If you go to start/settings/lock
don't you get an option with a tick box saying "prompt if device unused for"
just untick that and your lock password will vanish
Yes this box appears but I cannot uncheck it as it cannot be highlighted. Please help ! Doesn't anyone else have this problem ?
It would be helpful to know:
1)do you have plain htc diamond or one of the orange/O2 etc variants
2)what rom are you on
3)Do you sync with an exchange server (work email)
sometimes syncing with an exchange server for work email involves them doing something that means you HAVE to set and use a password for security reasons
4)was it always like this? Would a hard reset cure the problem?
1)do you have plain htc diamond
it's a plain HTC Diamond
2)what rom are you on
1.35 something (stock rom)
3)Do you sync with an exchange server (work email)
I had installed an exchange server where I was indeed requested to setup this password. However I deleted it again. The password to unlock the phone is still requested.

No only since I installed the Exchange Server. What's the risk with a hard reset I mean what kind of informations will thenbe gone (installed applications,settings,...)
Hard Reset - err.. everything will be gone. Your phone will be back to basic factory settings. The way it was when you pulled it out of the box.
(unless you flash it with a better (read cooked) rom.. in which case, it will be better that what it was when you pulled it out of the box)
You've probably set the lock after first use. When initializing WM it asks you if you want to set a password, or skip the step. As far as I know, once set, you cannot disable this password feature in one of the menu's. The only option is a hard reset. Be sure to SKIP the password step of course.

I think there's where the problem lies. I think you have 2 choices, you can try to find the registry key which prompts the device to ask you for a password for activesync. It's probably set to 1 and you would need to change it to 0. I don't know it myself, or I would of course tell you.
The other option is to do a hard reset.
A hard reset wipes all your stuff from the device, but what you could try is first do a full backup using either Spb Backup or Sprite. (if you want to keep your sms messages you might want to back those up too, maybe with one of the Jeyo products).
Then do a hard reset, then restore, but don't restore any of the messaging stuff.
That should get your device back to where it was, but you would have to redo your email settings, and it should get rid of this pesky password request.
Of course, if you're like most people on here you've probably installed and uninstalled lots of 'stuff' which has left behind lots of crud, so you might like to hard reset and then reinstall all your software etc.
Good luck!

Hello, I ask you for help!
I have deleted some email accounts from my htc touch diamond, and I left only my lead account. The problem is that in the email window of the touchflo 3d i have left all the envelope icons of the deleted emails account but i can't delete it....so i have a lot of unused icons.....how can i delete it??
Please help me!
Thank you very much
Please help
Someone could help me please?
be kind....
I need help about this question
Had the same problem, could get a fix, did a hard reset.
no haRD
I can't loose all my data again.....before make an hard reset i wait for more suggestions
I have the same problem, I installed Windows live, subsequently removed it, but the icon is still there.. bit weird.
Same problem here.
Also I've noticed that I can see my old emails (suposedly deleted from outlook) on the preview of tf3d, although on Outlook I can't see (obviously) the deleted accounts and it's messages.
My guess is that when you delete an account, the messages of that account aren't deleted and touchflo not knowing that you have removed that account keeps displaying those messages. Maybe a possible solution is to locate the folder were messages from deleted accounts are kept and really delete them.
solution?
I am getting the same problem. Any possibility of resolving this issue, without a hard reset?
After doing a hard reset for a different problem I put my backed up info back on (using the one created by htc) and since that time I've had this same problem. Did anyone figure this out yet? I really need to get rid of my gmail account to set it up correctly with imap instead of pop but I can't remove it because of this problem. Any help/links provided will be appreciated.
Does anyody have solution for this? After flashing new rom i wanted to restore my sms by sprite backup and it restored also some other mail accounts which are now stuch on touch flo screen and i cant remove them. I dont want to do hard reset again and loose my sms messages.
Also how do you restore your sms messages avoiding problems like this?

this is what i used to take care of the ghost accounts: SKTools
Found a FIX!!!
Here is what I used after doing quite a bit of Forum digging. This utility will repair the "Ghost" email accounts showing up in your TF3D, and make them re-appear in your list of accounts (Start/Messaging/Messaging). It has made me a happy camper...
Just copy the EXE to your device and run it. More information about this can be obtained here: http://www.etenblog.com/2008/02/14/recover-lost-email-accounts/
The program is pretty self-explanatory, so you shouldn't have any trouble recovering your ghosted accounts.

I had the same problem if your talking about the outlook account, and when you click and hold on the account it has a delete option but not clickable,... if this is what your talking about you must reset your active sync settings for your user, delete all of them, then re set it up as new account, but do not include sync for mail, that removed all the email accounts on my phone except hotmail, which i wanted to keep, hope this helps
Ok--who wants a challenge?
I have corporate email that I am configuring active sync to automatically push to my Tilt. Everything works fine except my company has a policy that the phone must be locked with password protect. So now after it not being used for 1 hour I have to put in a password to gain access.
I checked in settings: lock: and the password check box is greyed so I can't change it. The max time the dropdown menu will go is 1 hour. So 2 part connection:
Is there a way to bypass this?
Is there a way to adjust to say 8 hours rather than 1?

1. I don't know of a way to bypass this. There might be some sort of hack, but not one I know of.
2. If you Export your registry, then change the max time drop down and re-export your registry. Now diff the two files with a win diff program, such as WinMerge. The only difference should be the max time. See if you can hack in a bigger value.
Thanks
Dave
problem is that everytime you try to sync with your corporate email (which will be as items arrive if your talking about push), it will check the enforcement, if its not there it will prompt you that its going to enforce it again, just means that if your find a hack you will need to keep applying this hack unless you automate it....
That's what I thought...is there a hack to automatically apply the password. Where in the registry is the time...If I leave it named as "1 hour" but the actual time is say 10 hours...would that work?
there's a default sync policy thats set on the Exchange server. The only effective way to make this change is by editing that policy. There may also be legal ramifications for the company if the device is found to have been hacked to circumvent the autentication. Does the company need to adhere to Sarbanes/Oxley compliance?
grrrr....yes we are under Sarb Ox regs....I will have better luck winning the election than getting corp policy change...Any other software Ninjas that have an idea?
Where you're likely to end up is locked out once your IT department finds out your device is out of compliance.
Good point and I don't want that. Ok so I deleted off the server from active sync and soft reset but still have a grayed out password check box in the lock setting. Now that it's gone how do I go back to standard configuration? Please don't tell me hard reset.....
any software ninjas out there?
This may be a dumb way to go about it but maybe you should pose the issue to your IT department. I doubt that you are the only person who has email on his phone. Good luck.
ha ha...thank you captain obvious but IT will only support Crackberries at a VP level.
We have the same issue here at work. YOU HAVE TO SET A PASSWORD to your Tilt otherwise the email exch server wont let you ... .
Since you don't want to type it every single time:
<start> <settings> <lock>, set it to 12 hours and you should be fine.
If not, DELETE the outlook account (sure be NOT connected through active sync), soft reset the phone, set a password, soft reset again and re-establish the outlook account. Sync the first time "through the air" not USB, say YES to the security enforcement request and you should be fine.
As far as I know there's a new extension for enterprise mail server 2007 which can be enabled by your IT guys that it WILL ENFORCE password request on any connect - THAT you have to check with them.
since we are on the issue of password protection & exchange policies.
everytime I reboot my ppc tilt, I am prompted with the password to access the phone. I know this is for security purposes but it is annoying.
I use exchange on my tilt ppc for my phone that is through my own domain exchange account.
How can I disable password entry?
please advise.

I guess with xchg even with min. security settings there's no way to bypass the password after boot and sync with an xchg server. Simply use an easy PIN (4 numbers) and call it done. There are more annoying things in life for me...
i am sure there is a way, but just wondered if someone knew off hand as a quick post. i have a simple four digit password already....

Then Tell Them I challenge them to an IT Technician Face off! Because if they are only supporting Crackberries, they are phonies!
Real IT People, like myself, Have all phones working IN harmony. Tilt, Crackberry, iPhones(shudder).
Using a registry editor (I use PHM), navigate to \hklm\security\policies\policies and look for the value name “00001023″. Change the data from ‘0′ to ‘1′
This will give you control back to set it how you please
Thank you thank you thank you thank you.....I was about 1 day away from a hard reset! Muuuuucho gracious that was sooooo irritating.
I'm on the other side of the fence here, being a PM who defined pin enforcement as a security requirement for implementation. I'm glad to see that there isn't a hack to get around this because we need this to prevent a SoX or FDA audit finding.
Inconvenient for the users, yes. But it has to balance against the companies IT security policy.
A possible workaround that we have shut down. Forward the mail you want to see on your device (high importance, specific senders, etc.) via outlook rules to a third party email (gMail, Hotmail, etc.) and then dload from there and kill your exchange sync all together.
my .02
there is a cab somewhere that is called "zenyee.com stay unlock" that is what I use. It seems to do the same as the registry hack posted above.
I had the same problem and it was really a headache until I found the file attached below. After installing it, go settings/lock and uncheck the "prompt if ..." box.
Hope it works for others
I recently had to hard reset my phone (after fiddling with the new Manilla version posted elsewhere on the forum) and restored my settings from a backup.
Since then I've been finding annoying little differences in email behaviour:-
1. In the menu, the send/receive option is permanently greyed out.
2. When I select to download the rest of a message (I have it set to headers only) instead of downloading immediately I get a message saying it will download next time I send/receive.
I used to have push email set up and working fine with our exchange server, so now I'm baffled. I have to keep popping into Activesync and hitting "sync" all the time. The ActiveSync options all look absolutely fine, as do all the Outlook options.
Where should I be looking to change this behaviour?
Kind regards
Dave
Interesting, this problem went away completely after flashing the new HTC ROM update. You live and learn
I already checked out the other suggested thread but I have other questions so I thought I might start another thread...
I've lost the password, as said in the title, because I'd changed countries once and had to change my phone.
Now I'm back and have absolutly no idea as to what my password was........
But I'd always failed to synch my phone's contacts with outlook
so if I hard reset I will lose all my contacts, the messages and the photos.
1. Is there a way to hack my way through the password?
2. Or, is there a way to back up the contacts without having to hard reset?
If there is no other way, then..
3. I am absolutely sure I'd put in a password hint to help me remember, and I'd seen the hint appear the second last time I tried typing the password,
but this time I just can't seem to find the hints. How can I find it?
of which kind of password are you talking about?
Posibilities to Backup Contacts, Calendar,....
1. You can setup a exchange server for a gmail account, so you can sync your data with your google account, or microsoft exchange server
2. You can install MyPhone and synch witch your live account.
Thanks for the reply!
Oops I didn't specify the type of password.. my bad. sorry.
It's the password to the X1 that appears when I start up the phone!
Since I lost the password, there's nothing I can do right now,
no syncs, no nothing... and the contacts and such in it are really important to me.
Do the solutions you suggested still work if the password I lost is the one that unlocks the phone during the start up of the xperia X1?
do you mean the password of the sim card?
or the password you can activate in winmo for security reasons?
But i think you cannot find out the password.
if it is the sim password maybe my solutions could work. when you imported the contacts to phone.
This might have been asked before, if so please pardon me. Long story short, The email that I created my Microsoft\live account has changed, the question is; how do I get my new account on my Windows Phone without having to do a hard reset and without loosing my apps, settings and so forth? Is this even possible or am I out of luck? Please advise. Thank you.

i had same problem however i was lucky only having the new wp8.1 phone for 2 days. so didnt have much on it so far... i had to hard reset.
next time you hard reset dont login with "Microsoft Account" login under "Other..." or "Advanced" with your hotmail email... becausae that "Microsoft account" is useless ****. it drains battery by constantly checking for new email. cause you only have one option which is " daily" at longest to check emails again. where on normal hotmail or google account you have " manual" check for emails.... and if you sign in using "Other..." or "Advanced..." with your hotmail account it will be same thing and you will be able to set "manual" "daily" "weekly" "1hour" so on... good luck bro ! back your stuff up to onedrive or something
That's what i was afraid of, I guess I will also have to sign up for a developers preview again with the new account and I will loose whatever games and or apps that I bought Why??????
There is only one way can change the default email id for the device without hard reset, through REGISTRY EDITOR.
Which is your device ?
