Hey,
just want to check if I understood your problem correctly. Volume is too low when someone is talking to you or volume is too low when diamond rings ?
Ring Vol : HKCU\CONTROLPANEL\PHONE\VOL TO 65535
does not affect anything

-_-
i want leave to protect from damage
it blocks the sound?
Many Thanks
I am not sure if people know this,
but you have three volume levels
first is system volume. press up and down during normal use
second is ring volume. first press up or down to get in volume control, then
press the eft arrow on the screen and adjust ringtone volume.
third is in call volume. only problem is: as soon as you put the phone to your ear the volume buttons do not work anymore. so during a call, press the on button to turn your phone back on and adjust the volume. this will increase the volume during your conversation.

yeah, you are not the only one (I was away for several days that's way I couldn't reply to your thread regarding my experience) I have had this problem too. I was very angry about low callers voice and I was very close to take Diamond to the service, but my friend asked me did you remove screen protector ? I have said no and when I have done it then the callers voice was just screaming to my ear
In call volume too low.
I found a solution for that issue.
In call volume:
Registry: HKCU\Control Panel\SoundCategories\InCall
Key: InitVol
Default: 2
New Value: 10
Speaker in call volume:
Registry: HKCU\Control Panel\SoundCategories\InCall2
Key: InitVol
Default: 5
New Value: 10
Handsfree/car kit in call volume:
Registry: HKCU\Control Panel\SoundCategories\InCall3
Key: InitVol
Default: 5
New Value: 10
Mine problems were solved with that tweak. Now the volume is ok.
Best regards,
Adrian Crisan

I have a qtek 9090 with the AKU 3.2 Helmy Rom (thanks Helmy)
But now the volume and the Ringtone volume decrease to zero automatically.
I do nothing and they go down themselves.
What I must do to let them stay at the level that i put?
Thanks
Bye

Hi. I've recently noticed, that my K isn't ringing on any incoming calls. If i choose vibra alert, everything is ok, K is vibrating. If i select normal, it just pops the "incoming call" window, but without ringtone. So... whats the solution?
HCKU/ControlPanel/SoundCategories/Ring
there's a key named InitVol. For some reason it set itself to 0. At the moment I've set it to 1 - no soft-reset needed ! - the problem wanished and K is again ringing!
I'm just curious, what is creating such a bug... Any ideas
thnx for sharing
Many, many, many thx! I just went crazy until I found this!
So, great thanks from Bad Nauheim, Germany

Mobile phones don't have dial tones, unless you have a Jitterbug phone. You are hearing some other tone, or maybe the sound you are hearing is a byproduct of some part of the phone. For example, on the older model Motorola V3's the EL keypad backlight would emit a low volume tone when lit. Does your "dial tone" stop when the backlight dims or shuts off when in a call? If so then you are hearing the backlight. Most people can't hear it because it is above the range of normal human hearing.
If it is the backlight you are hearing you cannot increase the sound. It is what it is.

props for knowledge of the jitterbug.

Yeah, we really ragged on Jitterbug for that (and other things) in another forum I'm in when they first came out.

i think i expressed my self wrong.
when i want to call someone and i press his number and then press the call button u should here a sound that the phone is ringing (on the other side).
and that ringing sound is very silent.

If turning the volume wheel does not do it then there is no way I know of.
-Jay
not just 'a bit silent' then?
no it is realy silent .jou can hear it but if you hold your phone 20-30cm from you ,you cant hear it .
also when putting it on speaker you cant hear it.(because then you are more than 30 cm from your phone.)
when the pickup the sound is fine and loud.
I have the same probleme with my blackstone and its very annoying. if there is some noise you cant heard dial tone when you call someone.
Is there a possibility to adjust volume more precise. If I listen to music in the evening its always pretty loud and i would like to have more volume steps, espially at lower loudness.
Does anybody know how to do?
Thanks
Are you using the HTC Audio Player to listen music? I have the same porblem. I just regedit the value of HTC Audio Player to make it lower. But I have to face another problem, the ringtone volume is still lound! Everytime I listen music, when there is a incoming call, the ringtone is very loud compare with the music. I have ask the question before (not at here) but no one can solve it....
I have the same problem
when I press volume key down, it will down 3 level, why it can't just adjust 1 level
when I press 1 time
You can use your fingers/stylus to adjust volume by one bar only. Also don't forget the top arrow to tab between ringer and application volume slider.
how about trying out AD2P?
using a bluetooth headset will sounds much better than the wired one...
and volume control can be done on the headset itself.
Same problem here.
The question is not to use AD2P, or to do it with your fingers.
We would like to do it using the volum up/down buttons, but they increase/decrease volume by 20% every time, wich does not allow a precise config.
I have exactly the same requests:
- control with hardware buttons by 1 bar
- decrease audio volume: it's too loud to listen music!

How do you do that?
I have the same problem. The System Volume can only be set in 20% steps. For listening to music that is just not exact enough.
Does anyone know if there is a Registry-key what defines this behavior?
Still no solution for this?
Did anyone find a solution for that?

what exactly does this do?
This sets the volume to 80%?
What we want is that the hardware buttons change the volume more precise...
not a predefined volume...

Oops! sorry to get it wrong.
Yes this set's the maximum vol to 80%. It's for the music player of TouchFlow 3D
I.e. when the phone speaker volume is 100% then the music player's volume is 80%
There must be someone who can figure this out
I have this problem too
Still no solution for this?
Me too, I'd love to be able to change the volume more precisely. Anyone know how to do it?
i also have this problem.
me too, it's very annoying when I think I should be able to adjust the adjust precisely with the volume buttons while my Diamond in my pocket...
Anyone?
Me too !! I have exactly the same problem ...
My X1 XPERIA is too loud that nearly hurt my ear when i am in a phone call.
Whilst on a phone call, if I press the volume control on the side of the device, it just decrease a very little of the volume.
I have search many forum that could not be help.
I have read this:
=================================================
The base key is
HKCU\ControlPanel\SoundCategories\Attenuation
There are three values below that 0, 1 and 2. General sound is associated with category 2 and this is probably set to 1 at the moment. I have changed the value associated with category 2 to 3 for the moment. I have heard that it can be changed to as high as 5 but I don't want to damage the speaker.
So in short change the HKCU\ControlPanel\SoundCategories\Attenuation\2 registry setting from the default 1 to a higher value (between 1 and 5) and this will factor up the volume for most phone functions. Once you've done that power cycle the phone for the change to take effect.

Anybody can help me to fix the "loud" problem? Thank you.
Hi there
I have this problem too
FOr some people this tweak work, but not on my X1.
I think it has something to do with the European db limits. (I guess)
Probably the settings for Call volume is somewhere else, not sure...
Hope SE fix this in R3A for us.
Too loud!
I'm experiencing the same problem, I'm using EnergyRom Dec.17 2009. I cannot adjust the in-call volume! Pls experts, help us.
Help who knows please, I have same problem. Everebody around me are able listen my calls. I tried some changes in registry - w/o success.
same here! I have a sensible ear - sound is too loud for me....
I`ve reinstalled stock rom and stock radio (1.14) but no luck in improvement of sound call.
I have read in another post that turning the volume up during a call and then down again fixes the problem ... I have yet to try this and I don't know if it fixes it for good or just that call.
Hope this helps?
Bump... if anyone figures it out, please let us know.
dont know bout x1 but x2 has "micrpohone AGC" which regulates volume control

i just would like to have a little louder speakers when i do phonecalls in my car..what does i have to change in the registry
