hi,
I was trying to configure my HTC diamond to use COM4 / 4800 / NNEA but the destinator software still say that it can find the GPS.
my rom is the latest from HTC (1.93)
anything I can do ?
Thanks
Reboot Diamond, cold reset the GPS, erase its memory, reboot again, let it find the fix - takes approx. 2 mins and then run Destinator.
From my experience this exercise has to be performed after some ROM upgrades but only once, the GPS then works fine until another ROM upgrade.

If you want help with with WM2005 on a Himalaya device, I would recommend asking at the Himalaya forums, not here, as the Blue Angel has no WM2005 yet.

Hello,
I have installed the last version of Destinator (5.1.65) on a Himalaya running Windows Mobile 5 and I didn't have any errors.
But I had a lot of trouble connecting the Bluetooth GPS and configuring the COM port. I recommend to read http://forum.xda-developers.com/vie...0&postorder=asc&highlight=destinator&start=25
As far as I know since 05/09/2005 and thanks to almighty buzz_lightyear you can upgrade Blue Angel to, see http://buzzdev.net/index.php?option=com_simpleboard&Itemid=59&task=listcat&catid=3
I have Destinator PN as well and have problems with it on WM5. The install fails running from Activesync or by manually copying the cab files to my SD card and running from there. I managed to get it to run by restoring files from a backup i had. But i cant connect to my bluetooth gps. Under WM2003SE i was connecting to com port 6. i tried what WC posted with the tomtom patch for com 6 but it still wont work. Anyone with any ideas? Thanks

Destinator PN running WM5
Hi Guys,
Just installed Destinator PN to my BA running WM5. Installed OK and running sweet.
Anyone having installation error - processor or OS type error. There is a solution. Locate the file default.ini in your DestinatorApps folder. Double click on it , it should open with Notepad. Scroll down to the Platform section and insert this line P2577v351=ARM save and close. Then try installing your software from the Destinator Console.
Have fun.
@tcmg1666, what WM5 rom version are you running? I have mamaich's 2nd patched rom and Destinator's install has always failed for me. I'm going to try what you suggested now and see if it works.
Edit: I have just hard reset and still cannot complete Destinator installation. The Destinator install program will install Destinator English but fails on the rest of the package. I am able to install the TextToSpeech part ok. tcmg1666, I would really appreciate if you could tell me what rom you are running and how your install went. Also what version of Activesync are you running? I am using 4.0 build 4343. Thanks
Destinator PN with WM5
Efjay, I am running with Maimaich BA_WM5_Patch2. My Rom version 5.03.02WWE, Radio 1.13.00. I am using Activesync 4 build 4343.
I am sorry to hear that you are having problem with your Destinator PN installation. My installation went smoothly from the Destinator Desktop Console. I did not have to hard reset after the installation. Just launched Destinator on the device and it executed straight away. Destinator found my wired GPS straight away. I have a Seido Car mount with wired GPS, it worked beautifully.
Can you tell me what sort of error on installation?? Glad to help if I can.
Did you get the 'Unknown Processor type or OS type??
@tcmg1666 thanks for replying. My problem is this: when I install from the console it will look like the install has finished. I get the prompt to check my device. On the phone I will get 2 prompts; the first to install Destinator English will succeed. the second prompt will be to install Destinator Apps; this will try to install then give me the message installation was unsuccessful. As I said I tried a hard reset and still get the same result. I don't get any other errors. I can install the TTS engine with no problems. I have also tried reinstalling the console. Nothing has worked so far . I did try what you suggested as well. Any ideas? what version of destinator do you have?
DEstinator PN with WM5
Efjay, sorry to hear of your installation problem.
I am stumped. I am running Destinator PN version 5.1.118 in my Blue Angel.
May I suggest you try and remove Destinator from your device and do a hard reset and then try to re-install Destinator afresh in Main Memory and if you are sucessful, the Maps can be installed in your storage card. Apart from that I have run out of idea. As I said I did not encounter any installation problems on my device.
tcmg1666, I am running (under 2K3SE) version 5.1.65. I bought it from Routeplanners.co.uk around July. Seems I have a later version than yours which you would think is more compatible. Is yours the European version? Maybe the version number is the clue as to why its not working and Destinator need to update the software. Thanks for all your help.
Edit: just to add i have also tried reinstalling the console on my pc, hard resetting the BA, deleting all folders and registry entries and install still fails.

EfJay, I am running Destinator PN Australian version. I got it from www.pressdigital.com.au .

GarminQUE uses proprietary garmin protocol input/output from Garmin devices. So you can not use Qualcomm GPS chip that uses NMEA protocol in combination with GarminQUE. HOWEVER, you can "translate" the NMEA stream to GARMIN by installing GPSGate or GPSProxy that creates virtual COM port with Garmin or NMEA output translation. That's the only way to use GarminQue with your NMEA Qualcomm GPS-enabled Trinity
But first, you have to install the DOPOD D810 GPS enabled firmware. You can find it a few posts above.
thanks will update to ROM RUU_Trinity_DOPODASIA_WWE_1.23.707.6_6275_1.35.00.11_108_Ship.exe
found in the wiki page and there use this cooked rom.
However i have found and triend another GPS program, a trial, GPS tuner and i maged to get a gps fix and all working fine with it, so GPS is good .
Thanks for the info

Ok, I think you are fine but let's check.
1. TomTom always says "no gps device" for a few moments. Give it some seconds to initialize the gps device. If that doesn't work, check you gps settings and set it to either "build in gps device". Then wait 10 minutes to get a fix (make sure the device is able to reach satellites). If you have no fix after 10 minutes set the gps to "NMEA gps" COM9 and wait another 10 minutes.
2. If above didn't work, it could be a problem with your WM6 rom. Which WM6 rom did you use?

here here - we need a Trinity mod to clean up our forum.
Hi all,
Finally WM6. Great!
But after installing the Tofclock ROM, my device became unstable like many others have reported. So when C_Shekar published his ROM, I installed it.
No problems on stability anymore, but after this upgrade I can no longer use my Bluetooth functions properly.
I can pair with my GPS, but as soon as I try running GPS software the device becomes slow and will reset after some time. After that, only turning bluetooth on will cause a reset, no matter if I'm paired or even using it at all.
So I re-installed the Tofclock ROM, because there I had at least GPS. But now it was no longer working there either.
Today I even downgraded to AKU3.5 and even a 'pre-historic' version of 2003 (1.70) but it does not work anymore for any of the ROMs.
Can someone please help me on this one. I understood from other posts that I'm not the only one, so it's not just my Hima. But I really would like to have my GPS back.

Which indicates that it is an hardware failure and not a software problem.
Flashing the device with another ROM version does not destroy any hardware at all.
Sascha
Thanks for your response.
But if it is just a hardware problem that can't be caused by an upgrade, how come I'm not the only person experiencing the same issue that started at the same time?
If it was just me it simply could have been bad luck.......
I'm just still not sure of my conclusions, but everything points at the upgrade to WM6. Let this be a warning!
I have not seen any similar reports in any threads before. Can you link us to specific messages?
It is very well possible that it's a software problem. After all you're probably using the same GPS/BT software in all these ROM up/downgrades you tried?
My GPS software is entirely on my SD card, after flashing a new ROM and formatting my RAMdisk it instantly knows my last position. Your software has IMHO probably messed up some file on your SD card that's related to your BT/GPS settings or so. I advice you to format your SD card, reinstall the clean GPS software on it, see if it still misbehaves.

You also entered a reply back then ;-)
I will re-install my GPS software. However, I've tried other programs as well with the same result (i.e. Speed Sentry). But that might be because I tried it after a first reset. And the reboot also appears when I have a different SD card in the slot.
Right now I'm waiting for my backup battery to be empty. Who knows, a 'real' hard reset might help.
@Maggy
Seems you were right! Removing the battery didn't work so I checked my GPS program's files. I found a recently changed file for the config and after I removed it it seems to work again!
Still a big puzzle why it started when I changed to WM6. But I'm updating my ROM at this moment so I hope to be able to answer the question if it is WM6 related soon.
Thanks for the help!
You're welcome.
And yes, you're right that I replied to that post but my memory is in my PC and XDA, not in my head
It's possible that there's a tiny difference between the way the config file is written in WM6 or WM2003, so switching from one OS to the other messes the file up.
I have the good habit of formatting the SD card when I flash a ROM.
Glad this item looks solved.
Even better: it doesn't look solved, but it is solved.
I went home using my GPS! YESSSS!
Knowing this it's time I start cooking my own ROM......... thanks to all the great people at this forum.
Hello All
After having read the message, I just try TOMTOM 6 with RBT2001 and have the same problem, tomtom is very slow, and after some time soft reset.
And I have this problem with the new ROM: 7.0c.40CS (WM6 AKU 7.0)
And I had no problems with the ROM: 7.0b.40CS (WM6 AKU 7.0)
If this can help you understand the problems ?
I guess you should delete \Storage Card\ttnavigator.bif, then reinstall Tomtom
It's even much simpler: simply delete the \TomTom Navigator 6\navigator.cfg file. You'll have to redo some configuration, but it works great again.

Hi!
After install the new ROM-Version (1.93.407-1 GER), my GPS works no longer.
Google Maps -> No GPS device
Tom Tom 6 -> No GPS device
HTC GPS Tool find no Satillites.
Quick GPS is up to date.
Please help me!
Thx!
Some of the ROM updates will disable/remove some features.
Check the ROM Info before you install it
what can I do?
Do a internal reset, restore all mobile applications from scratch! And install a different ROM update. I had to do it today, cuz my ROM update ****ed up my 3G connection.
I have the latest ROM as well and my GPS works just fine. It may be that after installing, the first GPS connection takes a long time - did you try that?
About 20 minutes!
Does the GPS after a hardware reset?
Untrue - coldboot 5-10 minutes.
Ah,and lumpi:
Check if you have set the correct parameters in "External GPS" in settings, and check if your GPS app has properly configured your GPS.

I tried many many roms but no problem at all, maybe you can try to flash only the radio before doing a full rom upgrade, maybe it will fix.
Strange anyway, it seems an official German rom so it shouldn't have these limits!
