I realized when i shake my Diamond hard enough the taskmanager opens everytime!
can someone try this, is this a bug or a feature?
Or maybe the display is not fastened enough so that the edge of the screen comes against the touch surface and presses the button?!

I just managed to smash my Diamond on to the floor trying to get the taskmanager! Thanks a lot!
Haha! No, just kidding, but back to topic: Tried to shake, nothing happend
Tried it, but mine only does this, if I hold it under water while shaking.
c´mon guys, this is no joke, my diamond really opens the taskmanager when I shake it!
using the shake action will bring a lot of action to the repair shops....lol
i can see diamonds launched by mistake from sweaty hands to the concrete walls and floors...
Ok, you got me really curious now...damn you!
I waited until I was alone in the room and I shook it real good...no taskmanager fell out the top.

Well as your doctor would tell, you stop doing that, then!
Perhaps O2 have put their own app launcher in their ROM?
well it looks something like a feature?!
when I shake it an have a program opened it presses the X button an closes the app and I don´t have to do it that hard...just one faster left right
maybe someone with original O2 Rom could try this?

i don't have an o2 rom, so i'm not sure if my answer

i've shaken my diamond now for about 5min and nothing
happened...

weird.. try installing the diamond profile switcher and see what happens then.
well after a soft reset the effect seem to be gone. this only happend AFTER I installed the shaker app. maybe it´s an issue of the shaker 0.1 version...have to observe it further
getting closer to the answer, it seems that sometimes my touchscreen and especially the top right corner is responsive to force on the diamond frame. when I twist the diamond a little bit, bending the corners, the top right corner is pressed....
this sucks and this explains the mystery of "shaking taskbar"

Now you see.... this is a perfect example of something that is kind of important to mention when you start the thread!!!
With my Diamond, when I shake it, a little genius comes from the screen and ask me to choose 3 wishes.
Firstly I asked for a 4800 mAh battery but the genius disappeared and never appeared again

The bad
Touch interface is crap. Give me SPB Mobile Shell any day
The on/off switch is easily knocked on/off - in the pocket or especially when using the slip case
Frequent waits for a response from a screen press -so you press it again, and again, and again and then things lock up or slow down.
The back gets really hot when using GPS or heavy 3G use

tweaking is always the answer.. but why bother?
so it seems that even this Diamond that was announced as SO great needs tweaking to be REALLY usable :-(
But why do HTC always require to do all the job of installing, testing, tweaking, re-testing, uninstalling (as soft is not compatible with 'just' this device) , re-installing another one, test it for a few days, etc...
(including all the crashes that we have while testing it)
Lame !
Shame on HTC and Windows Mobile for making an OS where not-everything may work great.
Well.. iPhone then.
Come on, it's worth it just for Teeter! I've just finished it, need to call it a night.
Seriously though, the accelerometer by itself is a brilliant addition and I'm sure some amazing applications will come of it.

Well, I use those and my phone lasts till the end of the day, How long have you had the phone? I have noticed with every charge the batterys improves.
Mital, you hd it for a few weeks now ?
happy overall or not ?
The battery is going to be that bad for most device when using push email, I have my HTC Trion and if push email on with GPRS it last a bit more than a working day, if Wifi then just around 8 hours,
seem sno much differece with Dimond then.
My first major problem was that of no GPS access - several programs would not access the GPS and the phone would freeze when the GPS was accessed. Then I loaded Microsoft Voice Command 1.6 and this completely locked the phone - TouchFlo worked, but nothing would open when clicked on, and no change after soft resets either.
So, the first hard reset.
Then after reinstalling some GPS software, still no access to the GPS - and no changes in the com port settings made any difference.
So after much faffing about, the second hard reset.
So here I am scared to touch the phone in case I upset it and it frezes me out again!
And I think Opera hogs the resourses not only in use, but even after its closed down. The diamond works even slower after I have used Opera. Wierd.
And yes it is red hot after GPS and GPRS/3G use. I will measure it tonight with and IR thermometer, but there is no way it can be handheld for a long time at that temperature.
I suppose I could fry some bacon and eggs on it while waiting for the OS to do something. lol
Mmm, bacon and eggs sounds good to me, count me in!
I have to say I'm not experiencing the problems your getting. The only problem, which is easily solved, is that I don't get as good reception as with other phones Ive previously owned, but Ive noticed there are a few Radio updates floating around XDA Developers so will look into that.
With regards to programs not closing correctly, i found that making sure that when the 'X' is touched it closes down the program, does it for me.
Also my GPS works flawlessly with Tom Tom. I think you may unfortunately have a faulty unit as im not experiencing any of what your suggesting. My phone gets warm but never hot enough for Bacon AND Eggs
I find the handset can be a bit frustrating when typing sometimes, but thats always been the case with touch screen phones and people who say that they are perfect and better than a hardware keyboard are telling porkies! HTC arent there yet, but for me, there not far off!
Seriously tho, im sorry to hear that your getting problems and hopefully they will be solved soon.
Well, I have my Diamond since mid-June and I have to say that at first I wasn't very impressed with its speed.
The TF3D was very jerky and took a long to respond to my inputs.
Since my unit was one of those grey imports from HK made by Expansys, I thought that it probably had something to do with it, mainly a very early ROM (It's my third HTC model and I'm used to buy it and then tweak it).
So I started to look in the xda-dev forum and to try some of the ROMs, tweaks and cab files that our xda-dev resident geniuses provide.
And I must say that my Diamond is behaving very well, certainly a lot, lot better than it did a month ago.
- I never had major problems with any kind of software (not that I have a lot of stuff installed)
- The 4Gb storage memory is (for the time being) enough for my needs.
- The GPS (with TomTom 6), BT, WiFi and all that is working OK.
- The battery duration improved and it lasts for a day or more (more significantly since ROM update)
- The VGA screen is a must
On the other hand it does get a bit hot doing certain tasks, but so does my laptop when I have it sitting in my lap.
Also, even though HTC made a huge effort (in my opinion) to make a more 'user friendly' interface, don't forget that it still runs on MS WM6, and that, for now, is something that we have to live with.
Overall, I recommend it, but to get the most of it, you really need to keep looking for updates (and xda-dev is the best place for it) to improve its performance.
Regards,
Is there an app that can automatically turn on the speakerphone when the phone is placed face down? I think this would be a pretty cool addition. Any thoughts?
Gyrator can detect when you are using the phone and turn it face down and run a keypress for you. No idea if that could be used to turn on the speakerphone though.
Neat idea until your laying on your bed talking to your gf when your wife walks in!!!
[Note]Not that I would ever do that[/Note]

Im not married, so no worries there! I just thought it would be convenient if I had to put the phone down for something then it would automatically switch to speaker.
shirreer said:
Ok, if you like the TD2's speakerphone on flip stunt, then here's a cool tip for you...
Using Gyrator:
- Add a new "Rotation" event.
- Set application to Phone on the "Application" tab.
- On the "Orientation" tab check on "Portrait", "Face-down", and "Face-up".
- On the "Actions" tab check on "Simulate Keypress".
- Goto "Advanced" tab and select key "F16,127" which triggers the windows-native "Speakerphone Toggle event".
Done.
Now, starting NOT on speakerphone, whenever you put your phone on a level surface --facing up or down-- during a call, the speakerphone will toggle ON -> Moreover, if you pick it up it should toggle OFF. Good enough?
Cheers
P.S. You can also do the same for a "Stylus Out" event to fire when "Phone" application is focused, thereby simultaneously toggling on the speakerphone and starting up a new Note (default behaviour) whenever you take the stylus out during a call. Aren't we the lazziest lot..

Fascinating stuff. All of this customization is one of the things keeping the Fuze in my pocket still. Once in a while the bulk and weight drag me down, then I fall back in love the the ability to tinker the thing to exactly how I like it.
Directly related to this. I'd be curious to know how well the speakerphone works on a technical level when face down. I believe the speakerphone microphone is still on the front of the Fuze which I assume will negatively affect the overall performance.
I've tried this but I cant get it to work on a call out. Maybe I just put it in wrong. Let me know if you guys were able to get it to work.

Picked up this phone just today and my god I love this phone to death but every phone comes with complaints. Most things arent big and will just take time to get used to but this one I cannot ignore. I love having the vibrate on keypress option selected and the HTC One when it vibrates makes this very unpleasant loose spring like sound whenever it vibrates. Am I the only one thats noticed this or is this every device?

I'm sure there will be soon an option in custom roms to control vibration intensity, and put it to the value you like! it's only a matter of time, I'm sure!
[I'm sure there will I am currently facing the same issue with my replacement and thinking about replacing it again but hesitant because every device comes with its own minor defects, u only notice the alight clicking in a very quite environment and only on short vibrates such as when typing, but to be honest this is as perfect as it can get, everything seems to work with this device with no problems except this, and I might apply for a replacement and end up with a worst unit and another major issue, I have emailed HTC complaining about their quality control, cuz my first device had gaps and a tiny hair under the screen, my second device had a touchscreen problem and now this one which has a minor vibration sound.
The problem is I am too picky when it comes to this kind of stuff and a little ocd about them so I am positive that other people won't even notice the issue and even the repair tech might claim it's normal and in all devices. So yeah
my device is work related so giving it to them for 2 full days is kind of troublesome for me
add me to the list
I have had my HTC One for 2 days now. I too noticed this on mine. I just chalked it up to the phone being all aluminum case vs my old EVO was plastic/metal. I have a few other complaints too lol.
Ok the rants!
1. Why did you have to move all the buttons all over the place? Seems like every button is opposite to other android phones? Especially moving the power button to the far left? Who designed this? Must of been a left handed person. Come on at least compromise and put in the middle! Stupid!
2. Why limit to only 3 buttons at the bottom of the HTC one and in all actuality...you never enabled the "HTC" to be a button so we are stuck with 2! Most phones have at least 3! Again Stupid!
3. The Home button and back buttons. Ok maybe the person designed this drives on the wrong side of the road or goes in the exit door or something? The buttons need to be flipped in my humble opinion. Home first (left side) or at least in the middle, back button to the left or right sides. OH and bring back the quick access button!
4. Ok speaking of the "HTC" logo/button at the bottom. Why put in circuitry for it to be a button and then not enable it? Stupid #3!
5. The widgets for "Bluetooth", Wireless", "Mobile", and "GPS". Why light blue for the "on notification". Seems like a **** poor color choice. At least a green or red would be fairly noticeable considering the widget itself is blue? Hello.....great designing there.
6. The power button. More recessed then ever before making it difficult to push down or even find. No step up here.
7. Lock screen can only have 1 widget on it? Really? Wow...couple steps back here.
8. Full animated weather locking screen gone/no longer available because HTC forces you to use their one and ONLY ONE version their crappy line art weather on the lock screen. I don't mind the plain jane weather for showing up in the app list but placing it on the bottom of the lock screen with nothing else is horrible. I want my weather back to the lock screen. I know I have mentioned it a lot...sorry pet peeve, have it it so long on all my other phones.
9. I won't mention Blinkfeed. I have that pushed off the side and hear that sense 5.5 is around the corner which will allow you to finally turn the damn thing off.
Hey guys, I wanted to point out that you can reduce the vibration intensity, therefore getting rid of the "springy" feeling! Just download FauxClock. (Yes you need root of course). Gratefully this app doesn't require you to flash anything, it just needs BusyBox. The only downside to reducing the intensity is after so far you basically lose haptic feedback. (I wanted to reduce notification buzz.) And this is where I went with plan B.
Plan B (NO ROOT!): This method, you guys, will make you feel real dumb for not thinking of. Personally I did this to get rid of notification buzz but keep haptic feedback, but you can also just turn off buzz on certain apps. Simply open up App-ops on Android 4.3, go through all your apps, and untick the "Vibration" permission! That's it guys! Feel dumb now?
Note: to open App-ops is an activity, you can download App-ops launchers from Play Store or, in my case, I used a Tasker task.

For few weeks I never saw that problem on mine so I was not worry about it but today I tested few nice games and I realized that after a minute playing the game (Minimotor or HAWX) the virtual joystick stopping working. How it's possible the problem of the touch screen is because is too sensitive? I hope there is a solution via software but for there is some lack of insulated between the touch screen and the rest of the phone. That why when you touch the frame the touch respond very badly.

Hi guys! All new to this site. I just got a z3c and everything is really great, but for 2 things:
The screen response is so poor, that if it can't be fixed, I'm returning it. Deal breaker.
Whenever I tap something, the screen responses in about 1 second. That is too long. Way too long.
Any of you tried the "Don't tap the white tile" app? (it's a game, where you have to be fast on your fingers) If you have (or you think, that your phone is NOT slow, please give it a go)
The swiping seems to be ok, it's the tapping that's delayed!
I'm hoping that it's just my phone and it can be replaced, 'cause otherwise I will have no choice, but to find another one.
Also is it not possible for me, to decide wether or not an app can have acces to internet? On iPhones you can manually dissable every app from using the internet, both wifi and regular. This can also prove to be a deal breaker for me.
I hope you can help me to find out if I should keep this, apart from that stuff, really wonderful phone or if I have to go back to iPhone, which I don't want to actually.
Regards Kokinos, Denmark
"Whenever I tap something, the screen responses in about 1 second." - that is definitely not normal. I am playing Wordz and screen response is instant.
There are many apps to control permission (e.g. Internet) for individual apps, but it requires root - APP OPS is the best. But you might try this, which works without root: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.netspark.firewall&hl=en or this: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.gmail.permissionmanager&hl=en

-funny thing is, if I tap really hard, as in so hard the pixels round my finger turn black and I'm holding on to the phone with the other hand so tight, that it's on the verge of breaking, it IS possible to get the phone to react a, almost, once.
But swipe seems to work alright. I can't understand that. I actually thougt it was a software flaw and not a hardware one. But maybe I'm wrong.
I'll read into your links. My boyfriend might be able to understand a little more of it, so he'll help me
Nobody, that have noticed a delay on tapping, but not swiping?
Anybody I can convince to try the "Don't tap the white tile" game? It's free. I can play it fine on a iPhone, but on my Z3c the screen doesn't react fast enough. Unless I tap so hard, the pixels around my finger turn black and that can't be healthy for the phone.
It's not, that this game is important, it's just, that it shows very accurate, wether your sceen has delay or not.
That white tile game is the piano kind of game from Cheetah game studios? In case I just tried it and no issues with the screen response while tapping. It's more likely that you have a faulty device :/

Thanks for your not so helpfull comment. I would certainly NOT have pressed that hard, if it weren't for the fact, that I either would return it or have a replacement. Luckily I'm located in Denmark. We have excellent consumer rights. Otherwise I would be stupid to have done so.
