Cingular 8125 - Using Data on AT&T

I bought a Cingular 8125 from eBay and recieved it today. I unlocked it with loki and it works on my T-Mobile SIM and my AT&T SIM. I was talking with a member of the forums here and he told me to purchase unlimited MMode for $25 a month and I can get EDGE data from AT&T. I purchased it and went through steps to use "My Work Network" but when I use IE it says "Connecting to Cingular GPRS" and doesn't connect. Any idea how to fix?
Also, I see AKU 2 is available and I was also recommended to flash my ROM because I don't need the Cingular bloat (I'm not even using the Cingular network!) but I have no idea what to use.
I wanted to try the AKU 2 but I don't have 50 MB free on my phone so I'm going to buy a memory card tomorrow... is that what I should use?
Also, regarding Outlook and ActiveSync... can I set contacts in Outlook 2003 to be Personal and Business and then have my phone only sync with the personal contacts? How?

this is the post that was left by a user in a topic i started. Maybe its because you didnt do the radio rom ?
i'm posting this from an unlocked 8125 on a cingular blue (old AT&T) plan and I absolutely love it. I see no slowdown where i'm at compared to the cingular SIM chips. on dslreports.com/mspeed I average between 125 and 155 kbs.
if you still can hurry and add unlimited mmode for $25 a month before they completely freeze the at&t accounts so that any change/add would warrant a migration.
once you do, get your 8125, carrier unlock it, cid unlock it, flash with button's cooked rom, flash with radio rom 1.13, customize your extended rom to the way you want (no need to use the cingular extended rom, its just bloatware because your on at&t's settings.
to get edge working just set your connections to connect to "my work network" on both settings, then go into my work network and add a connection "cellular (GPRS)",name it at&t edge (or whatever you want. now the important part is that you have to set the apn as "proxy" without the quotes. then set this connection connects to the internet under the proxy setting.
leave username and password blank and domain blank. that should do it, then connect to internet explorer and you should be surfing on edge. good luck.
I paid full retail also, $490 after tax, and it was worth every penny. I could have got it for $250 if I migrated and used my FAN buisness account, but my blue plan is sooo much better. good luck.

Check out this link if you're still having problems setting your 8125 to work with the at&t network. It's not exactly for the 8125 and WM5, but its very similar. I believe this is for the blue angle and WM2003.

Oh and no, you don't have to update the radio rom, the radio rom update will probably help with reception and edge speeds, but won't have an effect on connecting to the network.

Kenny- I've got my 8125 working on Cing Blue. If you need the settings PM me and I'll copy them out to you. It was a pain but I got it working in the end.

KINetics: I read the guide and realized I needed to edit the Cingular GPRS connection, and I did as it said... and got a little bit further. My 8125 says connecting to AT&T GPRS, says "locating..." and then returns the error: "The page cannot be displayed or downloaded because the connection was lost. Check the connection and try again later." Any ideas? I have 4 bars when this happens, and the E icon (I'm guessing it's EDGE) is showing at the top.
Also, I want to have the phone as upgraded as possible... and I want the internet to work, which is why I'm thinking about updating the rom. Can you tell me what I'm best doing and how to go about doing it? I'm getting a 1 GB mini SD card today.

I got the internet working!
I went to connection settings and to the proxy tab and unchecked use a proxy for internet.

Softbank settings on HTC TYNT II

I know this has been answered in several treads, but I can not make it to work.
I am trying to configure flat rate internet setting on my htc phone, but it seems i can not get password to populate.
I have an original HTC unlocked phone. Can somebody please provide step by step instructions with required files on how to perform the required steps to start using flat rate plan from softbank.

Google search for it on XDA. The threads there made it work for my Kaiser, but since I was on Softbank rental sim (which doesn't offer flat-rate data), the password populated and worked, but I still get billed by 128byte chunks.

I actually am on Softbank with an unlocked kaiser (just have a SIM contract). There were some instructions (in japanese) to get the open.softbank.ne.jp to work. I was testing it out cautiously for the first month and it seems to work fine. However, from yesterday I can't even make phone calls or get a data connection. When i try to make a call it tells me to call customer service, when i try to make a data connection, it tells me the answering modem has been disconnected.
I plan on calling Softbank tonight to see what's up. If it's just a technical glitch, i'll post what i did to make everything work. If they locked me for using open.softbank.ne.jp...oh well...i guess i'll try docomo!

I followed the instructions for setting up the open softbank connection, am using an HTC branded kaiser from Hong Kong so no lock, and as of 15 mins ago my data still working sweet.
Just download the prepared softbank package from the other thread, there is a readme, pretty straight forward but I can say it is working.
Another possibility is from tomorrow emobile will have kaisers here on data plans for half the cost of softbank. I would love to get an emobile sim and setup a connecdtion with them. But you know how it is here. The moment I asked the know nothing guy standing next to the phones about getting just a sim contract things get oh so complicated... sigh...

Will the Kaiser work on emobile since they're using W-CDMA 1700MHz? If it does, without a new radio firmware, then there's hope of using the Kaiser on T-Mobile USA's 3G AWS W-CDMA 1700.

I tried installing the emobile Sim card in my unlocked kaiser (friend had a demo emonster) and it doesn't work (probably due to the 1700Mhz). I'm a newbie, so can you tell me if the the radio can be set through a firmware upgrade or is it a hardware issue?

TyTN II on Softbank
Could anyone help me reset the setting to enable this phone to work properly on Softbank. I am not sure what priceplan I'm on so whatever settings you can give would be great...
I have tried talking with Japanese staff but my Japanese is not good and their English is even worse.
It is so difficult to get a straight answer. I know this phone works here as I did nave it working a couple of years ago, but due to some changes in Softbank, it doesn't seem to work now..... Could someone please help me with a set of settings.

Need help! Compact IV WebNWalk not working.

My mums got a new compact 4 and ive been setting it up for her. But for some reason i simply cant get webnwalk working.
Ive tried using tmobiles configuration website downloader. Ive tried manualy making a new connection. Ive even tried a hard reset
And it still wont connect to the internet.
I get the H and the G icons but it just never seems to connect.
I get the:
The answering modem has disconnected
error message.
Ive even been on the phone to tmobile tech department and they dont know whats happening...
Has anyone got any clues how to fix this?
Its pretty make or break if this doesnt work we have to send this back.

I'm not sure if the t-mob branded diamond has the connection setup app, but check here:
Start->Settings->Connections->Connection Setup
If its there, run it and it will automatically configure the necessary settings for web n walk.
If it's not there, there is a cab file for it in these forums somewhere (I did a quick search and couldn't find it, but I know it exists)

No the apps not there...
As i mentioned before I used the webtool on tmobiles website that downloads WnW settings to the phone...
Oh to add. It does some times work on GPRS...
But most of the time it gives the error.
H so far never seems to work.

That does seem odd - GPRS and 3G/HSDPA use the same connection settings so if one works, the other should be fine as well.
Have you got any other phones to test that it's not a t-mobile fault?

It seems to work connecting to the gprs first time per reset... When it finds a H network thats when it screws up and wont connect to anything after that point.

Have you tried the SIM in another HSDPA mobile? My SIM doesn't get 3G/HSDPA access in ANY phone I put it in. If your SIM works in another phone then you kno it's the phone not the network, but if it doesn't, it MUST be T-mob. BTW - are you in London somewhere? And are you (your mum) on a Combi package? Just curious if it's an area/package thing.

Why dont you just phone t-mobile support?

You seem to think i havent.
I was on the phone with them for over an hour yesterday.

Been to the Tmobile shop, and it appears its the simcard thats faulty.
Ive put there flex sim into my phone and then it would connect.... Put my sim into there phone and there phone wont connect.
And its HSDPA thats where the faults happening... Not GPRS
In the process of trying to get Tmobile to send a replacment sim

Anyway been to the Tmobile shop today... And worked out my sim is faulty...
Tryed the shops sim in my phone and it worked... tryed my sim in there phones and they couldnt connect...
The shop had no blank sims so i had to order one from customer service for free should get it in the next couple of days.
Ill keep you updated

T-Mobile Setup on HTC Tilt

I called up ATT and got the unlock code for my friends old HTC Tilt, unlocked and placed my T-Mobile SIM card in it which has an active voice + text + web account on it, with the default ATT Rom on it I was only able to set it up to do voice and text, whenever I tried using the Data connection for like let's say IE it would bring up a page for web2go, even after Flashing the phone with different ROMs I found on this great site and went through the auto communication setup for t-mobile, and still it only does voice + text, any ideas?
Right now here are my specs:
HTC Tilt
R: 1.70.19.09
G: 25.83.40.02H
D: 3.TPCElite
HardSPL 3.29

Same thing happened to me last night. I called them this morning and they fixed it in about 10 minutes.

There should be a cab file somewhere that sets it all up for you.

I called up T-Mobile and talked with one of their non-supported device technicians (they have an entire support dept. of these guys) and it was actually on their end, they had to allow the IMEI to use the Data plan, because basically the phone was like Hi let me use the Data on the Network and the network was like what's your name? and the phone was like I'm John Smith, and the network was like your not on the list sorry.
So.. yea I was talking with a very smart tech support lady @ T-Mobile, she even mentioned these forums, she said she recommends it to people that have devices that aren't supported by t-mobile she even wanted to know which ROM I flashed onto my Tilt =)

I have an issue. I just switched my entire plan over to the even more plus. On my old plan I had tzones and it works great for everything. Now I have the web2go. The problem is not getting the device to work on the internet2.voicestream.com, that works fine, but it is the battery drain. In a 4 hour period it will kill a full battery. When I remove the internet2 setting then the battery lasts all day. anyone else see this issue. BTW I'm using the JJblaster 23518 and radio 1.70.18.02
what do you all think, a bit odd for it to drain the battery that fast?

I bought a T-mobile HD7 online few days ago, and i am using it in China now, the operator is China Mobile. I face some troubles these days, and i am searching the whole world but i can't get the answers, please help out.
1. How to identify HD7 is unlock or not? Then i know if i need to unlock it.
2. I could not get any date service (Wifi is not available for me), i am sure i input the correct APN but no data service in HTC HUB/marketplace/Emails, ect. Data connection of the same SIM card works on my old phone O2 Xdalli perfectly, but not on HD7. Is it because of not unlock or how can i get advance settings?
3. I heard that there is "CONNECTION SETUP" on other HD7s, but i cann't find it in marketplace or HTC webside, can somebody send me this app? maybe i can solve the data connection problem with it. Also, i want an "ATTENTIVE PHONE" app, please send me as well if you have.
4. My last question is, i got a T-mobile SIM card in the box, is it come along with any balance or package? Can I use it in China by roaming?

You can download it from Marketplace.(its under HTC apps)
Since you dont have Wi-fi I recommand you do this setup at your friends,Or at some internet center.
3.Sorry I dont think its currently possible to send over apps.You have to get it from Marketplace yourself.
4.As for the last question , hy dont you try using the T-Mo card and see what happens

1. Yes i am using my local SIM and got good reception, calls and SMS works fine, is that mean i got HD7 unlock? How to identify lock or unlock?
2. Still i could not find connection setup from marketplace app. Under genres, there is "tools", and i rolled so many pages but i cant not find. I searched also, there is only an app named "student connection", do you have an address? or tell me how to find it?
3. I successfully make it prison break, haha

And there is "connection setup", hahaaaaaaaa, i got the GPRS data connection.

where did you get this rom?

ROMs are in the HD7 Development section.
