Hi all,
I was wondering two things:
First, can I find an app that can download the mail and calendar from a OWA website ? To be honnest, I can only navigate with WAP(port 81 / 443),so that's why I ask.I don't know if some app can manage this thing.
The second (with the same restriction of port 443 and 81) . Can I find an app that can alert me if I receive an email from my hotmail account?(with Home plugin if possible) ?
Thanks in advance,
Check this app out!
I haven't used it yet, as I just found it today, but if it does what it seems to, I believe it'll fix your problem. Good Luck!

For the OWA thing, this app is /will be very usefull !!!!
Great find!
I read other users that were still looking for this free app!
Thanks!
And for a Today screen plugin which tells me if I got new hotmail mail ? (with WAP connection??)
Thanks guys! There has been a few updates since your posts, here is the XDA link:

Sync Mail/Calendar using OWA
Hey guys,
I've been trying for a couple of days to get my Android device to sync my email/calendar via OWA details (e.g. webmail.domain.eg.ie domain\username) with no joy. Fortunately I'm the exchange admin (learning as I go...) but everything that should be enabled is enabled according to all the docs I've read round the web both from MS and here and on other Android forums. All exchange services running, including Active sync, external POP3 address configured blah blah blah.
iPhone users at the same site as me can set up with no issues just using the above credentials. I set it up on my android phone and it connects, authenticates then gives me the options about pushing, how many weeks worth of sh... stuff to sync, how big etc. and I set all that up then am presented with a blank screen.
I close and reopen email - goes back to the blank screen. Leave email open overnight hoping it's just crapping it's pants while it updates, wake up to a blank screen.
Any thoughts?
impossible, I think

Maybe this belongs in a subforum that is not specific to the Raphael, but I couldn't find a good place for it.
Obviously if you can use an Exchange server or forward your e-mail to one, you should have no trouble at all getting Push e-mail on any Windows Mobile 5 or 6 smartphone.
If you use BlackBerry Enterprise with Exchange or with Lotus Notes, Novell, etc. you can download BlackBerry Connect 4.0.0.103 and use that setup for push.

THE ISSUE OF PUSHING IMAP TO YOUR FUZE
My university provides Exchange for everyone except undergrads. I am an undergrad. I've looked for various solutions to get push e-mail working with our IMAP (Horde IMP) server working. The default WM client works fine except that it is not push, and checking the server every 5 minutes drains my battery. I use this setup for all of my non-primary e-mail accounts, i.e. Formal Gmail, Informal Gmail, and AOL IMAP, which I generally need only to check on-demand.
My university mail is another story. Often times it is crucial to view a message within minutes of it's having been sent.
I will now list the options that I have found so far:
Blackberry Connect:
I first tried paying for BlackBerry Connect, but soon discovered that once I had setup my school's IMAP, there was no two-way sync between my inbox and my BlackBerry. If I read an e-mail in Thunderbird, Outlook, or Webmail before I read it on my phone, it was still marked as unread on my phone. The reverse, however, worked with some lag. I could synchronize deleted items, but this was sort of a manual thing. This is a known issue, and most of the online documentation discusses Gmail IMAP access. Also, arrival times were inconsistent...between 25 seconds and 10 minutes.
I could get around this by forwarding all my e-mail to a Yahoo Mail account, for which Two-Way Sync is available for Blackberry Internet Service. I'd rather not.
Summary: no two-way sync with most IMAP and Gmail IMAP; I can't read all my e-mail on my phone first.
SEVEN Beta:
After realizing that AT&T's "GetMail" was owned by SEVEN, this option appealed to me substantially. I think they are somehow related to GoodLink from Good Messaging. There have been so many mergers and takekovers, it's rather hard to keep track.
2:30 before messages arrived, but was pushed!
:55 before message marked read on phone was marked read on server, but was pushed!
1:15 before message marked read on server
Of course hitting the "Synchronize Now" button makes these two latter changes instantaneous.
To me this seems like a pretty good solution so far, except that the SEVEN configuration program will only open once after a soft reboot. I'll have to see if the entrails or remnants of BlackBerry Connect are causing this problem: I'll be doing a hard reboot in a few minutes.
Attachments and per message data limitations work even better than the default IMAP client.
Summary: Still in Beta, but pretty good; delays of only a few minutes.
IMAP Pusher Service
I discovered that this option requires running a file every time you start your phone. I haven't tried this one yet, but I'll let you know how it works when I do.
I like how basic and non-invasive this one seems. It runs on the IMAP-idle command, assuming your server supports it. However, the developer claims it is not very secure. (I'm not sure if any of these solutions are...)
eMoze
I haven't tried this one yet, and I'm not sure if I want to.
I seem to remember that it works a lot like Verizon's Wireless Sync in terms of storing everything on their server. I'm not sure if I like that notion. If anyone has used eMoze, please let me know what they thought of it. I may try this one too.
mobiPush
I know little about this except that it was thrown up as a possible answer in another forum. I have since discovered that it is buggy, and support seems to have almost all but disappeared.
Emansio
This one also seems very basic, and while it wouldn't work while BlackBerry Connect was installed, now it works fine. Just make sure your Thunderbird isn't set up to use IMAP-IDLE. Otherwise you will have a "synchronization error."
E-mails, deleted and whatnot, sync up within 30 seconds; as fast as in Thunderbird. The only problem with this solution is that it costs 20 GBP! And its interface is not very pretty. I'll give this one some time to mature.
This seems to be based on its predecessor, VGS Mail. I'm tempted to buy it...we'll see how well SEVEN works for a while....
Hosted Exchange at mail2web
I really just don't want to deal with forwarding. Otherwise, I think this would be a very good "native" solution in that it uses OTA ActiveSync.
Please add suggestions if you can! Perhaps we can turn this into a Sticky or a Wiki somewhere.
Here's a modified chart from another thread:
(M - MobiPush, F - Funambol, S - SEVEN, E - Emoze, W - Mail2web, I - Imappusher, A - EmAnsio after payment)
Code:
M F S E W I A
No Add Soft: (Activepush) M - - - W - A
HTML Email: - - S – W I A

Hey everyone,
I think this is an important enough issue for this device, so I'm going to double-post. Sorry. My last post was too long to read.
As of today, what do you all think is the best method for pushing IMAP to your Fuze?
I'm using Seven right now, but I'm close to switching to Emansio. (formerly VGS Mail)
IMAP Pusher would be a great option if you didn't have to start it every time you soft-reset your device.
Let me know what you all think!
And yes, I know it would be much better if I could convince my school to use Exchange or BlackBerry....

Make a shortcut of IMAP Pusher and place it under the StartUp folder in the Windows directory. That way it will automatically launch it on start up.
Check out FlexMail. It does IMAP push. http://www.webis.net/. It's not perfect because sometimes it loses the connection to the IMAP server and doesn't figure it out. But of the IMAP push solutions that I have tried it is the best. (I am using this on the Hermes, hoping for Raphael soon.)
Sorry, I didn't have time to list more of the features about to leave. But please look at the site and post questions about the product.
Sorry if this has been addressed already, but I thought it relevant so I'm posting it here. I've always used just my GMail account with the native app and it's worked fine so I never really bothered with my Hotmail account since it's only POP mail and I feel that having it poll my Inbox every 15mins drains the battery heavily. But I read this morning that they've just started rolling out the new Windows Live Hotmail Wave 4 today, which includes Exchange ActiveSync support for Push email and Account syncing for Calendar and Contacts.
As it's being rolled out in clusters, my account hasn't been upgraded yet. But I decided to try to set up my account to Push anyways and it seems like it's working fine.
If you want to do the same in the Stock Email App, Add a New Account. Then input your Email Address and Password then hit the Manual Setup button and Select Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync and use these settings:
Domain\Username: \username@hotmail.com
Password: password
Server: m.hotmail.com
Use Secure Connection (SSL): Yes
Accept all SSL Certificates: No
hit Next, then make sure the Email Check Frequency is set to Automatic (Push) and then just set your other sync options. (I've only synced mail since my contacts and calendar are synced with GMail).
I'm sure some things will change when my account actually gets the upgrade, but for now, it's basically all I need.
Full Disclosure: I'm on 2.2 and using the stock Email App for this. I don't know how this will impact 2.1 or if you're using K9 or Touchdown, etc. so feel free to post you results.
Just tried your settings with the 2.1 email app and it's no go.
Just tested...
...and it works! Running 2.2 (FRF50).
Even though I rarely use it and that it's mostly used for pretty useless mail it's still nice that it works, finally.

Using stock 2.1 update 1, it works except there's no calendar option(should only available in 2.2), but the server is not very stable, need a few more retry to connect
Must be why it failed then.
2.2 you can add with out having to change any settings.
Do you know the setting to use in any other apps? The stock mail app doesnt allow showing html pictures, so i'd prefer to use k-9 or touchdown...
THANKS!!

Worked for me on 2.1 email app. Now, how do I get a widget to show me the unread count?
Finally MS do something useful to their antiquated service!
Tried it, but doesn't work (yet)
Do you get an e-mail when your account is upgraded?
Guess that is cool if it works, but you can only have 1 Exchange Activesync account on any device...that includes iPhone, WinMo etc...
Has this stopped working for anyone? I'm just getting 'unable to connect to server' now.
Same here, getting the "Unable to open connection to server."-message now.
The wierd thing is that yesterday I got the little yellow bar up top in Hotmail telling me to restart the browser to try the new version (which is what actually got me to try this) but nothing really changed, rollback?

Technically true, but two Push accounts can be accomplished on both Android & WinMo(windows live + exchange)
For us with X10's who are stuck with version 1.6 of Android,
What are the settings to get this working in K9? Has anyone successfully got it working with that mail prog?
Thanks!
Still not working here. Go Microsoft
Small update:
My Hotmail account was upgraded to Wave 4 this morning... Hotmail via Exchange? Still no go. It worked for about an hour back on 17th June, and nothing since.
Well it's all working again now
so its real push service?
if yes i need try this
i wa susing SEVEN but lack of html =(
Yes, it's proper push.
Hello, I really need some help with some email problems here with my nexus 1 (att 3g vers).
It has NOT been rooted, and has android 2.2 installed (prefer to not root btw).
Anyway, the problem is in regard to the android EMAIL app (don't know it's name, but it's the icon of the envelope and yellow @ symbol in it).
I've set it up to handle my other email accounts (comcast and godaddy accounts) - not Gmail. Everything is setup finally and working fine...but for one problem...
once an email arrives, i get the notification...go to read it, BUT - then after reading it...it's then moved to the trash automatically (the trash in the email app that is, it's not removed from the server.
Driving me nuts - it's no longer in the inbox area of the email app, for each and every account). Each email just automatically disappears (goes to the trash) upon my reading it one time.
I can go to the trash folder and read, but this is ridiculous...shouldn't I be the one moving emails to the trash?
Can anyone suggest a fix here, or know of anything I can do to stop this?
I see no settings to change this...it's a serious bug.
Or...is there a better email app (one like this, as I do like the look and feel of this one built into android 2.2) that I should be using?
I downloaded K-9 email (but really hate it's look, feel and operation compared to this one).
Maybe there is something I'm not getting here though and need to change?
It's very strange that ea email would move to the trash upon 1st reading it.
thanks for any help here
also, i have tried searching this site for this problem with zero luck...
but i can't be the only one seeing this issue, right?
again: these accounts are my comcast and godaddy email accounts (not gmail, hotmail, etc).
thanks again
sorry man, I tried looking at my settings to see if theres anything I can suggest. Nada...
update to my Q:
Ok, doyeee
I think I know what's going on....
I was just setting comcast and godaddy accounts up and had the the email apps open on my PC at the same time while running tests.
When I did email tests, and having the PC email apps open for the same accounts...after they download to the PC is when they will go to the trash on the nexus email (not staying in INBOX on nexus when the PC email app has downloaded them).
This might be standard (I don't know as this is finally the first phone able to handle emails like this.
Hmm, i'd sure prefer it if all emails could remain in the inbox (or some other folder other than trash) as I can't hit "reply" once they're in the trash should I later want to reply to the same email with more info later on mobile.
Hello
I have a SGS since about a month now.
The email was fine and I could get all mails even before Ms outlook on my laptop.
but I have just changed the ROM yesterday and since then I couldnt get any mail.
Though I am using exactly the same configurations and settings
Every other internet related app is working fine (including other email apps like Gmail)
I am just having this with the mail app. and for the Exchange Server mails.
I have noticed two things.
1. the sync is not happening (no moving dash circle on the top right corner) and
2. when at the mail accounts screen if I long touched the mail account (which is the only one anyway) and then choose Refresh .. it ask me for Force Close !!!! as it said there is something wrong with the process and it has to be closed.
Can you please help me out here
Work emails are very important for me.
Thanks a lot
Hi,
When I delete a mail in the stock mail app, it is delivered again from my ISP a few minutes later.
Anyone knows about some "secret" settings, I can't find any in the app that solve this problem.
Or recommend another app?
Thanks in advance!
Ruben
I'm having the same problem.
Changed from IMAP to POP just to solve the problem for now.
Sadly not the solution but i works better now.
setup email with exchange server active sync, b'coz pop i think not provide push service, you hav to set check mail frequency.
Dsable auto sync off in acc
Go to Email - entre gmail credential - select manual setup - select exchange active sync - keep user ID n PW as it is n add m.google.com in server field, finish setup with rest of as per your desire
dr.ketan, I don't think exchange activesync is an option here, it's not gmail.
I'm having the same issue. I think it sometimes (rarely) works. What's worse, is that it marks the mail read. I did not have this issue with the mail app on my htc desire hd.
There are various bugs open at code.google.com (I can't link as I'm new), but the comments are a huge mess and I didn't ever figure it out. I tried K9 mail briefly but wasn't very impressed either. Let us know if you can get this fixed
Another gud push mail is seven, now a days disappeared from market. But earlier i hav attached smwhr in xda, search seven 7.54 really it was nice.
my old streak 2.2.2 with stock email app use to do this. Not a clue why.
Sometimes I would get the same email 3-4 times in a row. Maybe it is something to do with Android itself?
Many thanks for your reply!
I'm glad?, that it not was just me, because I spent a lot of time to find an answer. It works fine on my old Desire.
Ruben
Same for me it worked perfectly on tho HTC Desire but not on the Galaxy Note. Quite strange I think.
