..
main point:
have any idea to search the initial T in any way?
If I'm understanding you right, all you need to do is either tap the corresponding letter in the alphabet list to the right of your 'All People' screen (this is the standard contacts screen), or bring up a keyboard (by tapping in the 'Enter a name' box), and beginning to type the name you want.
It's as easy as that in the English version... surely can't be that different in the Chinese one??!!

Transcriber is a handwriting recognition program that enables you to write in cursive, print, or a combination of both.
To write using Transcriber
1. Open a program that accepts user input, such as Word Mobile.
2. Tap the Input Selector arrow and then tap Other Input Methods >
Transcriber. The Transcriber introductory screen appears. Read the
introduction and tap OK.
Click to collapse
i dont see any introductry screen, and i dont see any words like
transcribe and or transcriber on my phone.
on page 87
To use Letter Recognizer
1. From a program, tap the Input Selector arrow and then tap Other
Input Methods > Letter Recognizer.
2. Write characters, numbers, and symbols in the designated writing

That's only block and letter recognizer not the transcriber. I still feel cheated getting only half of what's promised.
Hello,
I've searched the forum, but I can't find an answer to this question:
Is it possible to add other locales than just English?
Dude's G build had a bunch of them. I'd like to have my national locale on JF1.5 as well.
No one? C'mon guys :/
I think the Locales are in the kernel, because i've never seen some files of them in the system directory for example. Could someone say if this is right?
I´d love Danish locales.
it depends. most of the UI you see belongs to different system apps. you'll have to modify the apks and add you own localization xml files. i guess you can get the original xmls from the source code repositories, otherwise you'll have to figure out a way to decompress the xmls in the apk.
Yeah but the hole system is still in English. The menus for example.
But I wonder why Dude's build has many locales and JF's doesn't?

Dude's build has plenty, I have a MASSIVE list of them. I remember reading 72 somewher in his massive thread...
What I want to know is how to add different input methods. I'd love to be able to type in Japanese using the proper input rather than copy-pasting.
Locale
I'm searching too how to add other locale... and how to map my AZERTY keyboard...
I'm not sure but I think this is what you're looking for: http://developer.android.com/reference/java/util/Locale.html
There's a custom locales app too, compile that and run it and you can add locales to your phone. The system's language won't change though, each part has it's own XML file that stores the text for that language.
Look at the source of any of the built in apps, you'll see a values directories (more than one if you're looking at a cupcake build).
There are also values-fr, values-de, etc directories. The system loads the text from each of these depending on what locale is chosen.
You can also specify regions (values-en-rGB: English (Great Britain)).
In short, just setting a locale won't change the language of the phone, each individual app has to support that locale. If it doesn't, it uses the default values directory which is in English (US).

Well, I know that it has been a while since you posted this comment, but there is presently a REALLY good Japanese IME on the marketplace. Just search for simeji. It is made by a guy that goes by the name adamrocker you can find his blog and details about the IME on www.adamrocker.com. He just recently put the latest version on the marketplace, for a while it was just a horribly outdated version and he only released updates on his website.
For now I would just recommend that you do not download one of the local dictionaries as it makes the conversion table generation a little clunky.
the system language can be adjusted in many roms (cupcake based). The thing I am still looking for is the foreign (german) text prediction, I would like to add. The best would be to combine german and english, as I write in both languages.
Haven't found a solution for this yet
Since the threads moving forward, close to the right direction, github has some generous people helping filling in missing locals.
I remember having a lot more languages to choose from and now there is only one page. Before I could scroll through a lot.
Understand that I'm not talking about the locale which changes the entire phone and menus to a different language. I'm just speaking about the keyboard input language option. I'm sure Google provides all languages in Gingerbread for this as well as dictionaries for all. Where are they and how can I get/download them?
I speak a 2nd language other than English and have friends who communicate text messages using it. I hate having to switch keyboards or use anything other than stock GB keyboard.

CM7 for the CDMA Hero no longer includes the full language pack. It may or may not be possible to add them back in after the fact, but if you build the ROM image yourself you can enable the full language pack.
Thanks Jason, I was hoping you see this post So is there a reason why they dumped most of them? After all, keyboard input can be used by others in many languages. Was it just to save space?

Relevant change from Gerrit Code Review. It was part of an attempt to shrink the ROM image size. Looks like the rationale was that the biggest change would be the TTS language packs not being included, and that these could be downloaded from the market. But that is separate from the ROM languages being removed.
If you would like, I can submit a change to add the full language pack again.

I hate to be responsible for extra size but if you could add an extra language (polish) to the list of defaults many people from my town Chicago would be happy
In case someone finds this thread here is what I found:
Some info on the android keyboard and the issue:
http://blog.cone.be/2010/08/19/android-keyboard-dictionaries/
http://blog.cone.be/2010/08/20/creating-dutch-dictionary-for-android/
http://code.google.com/p/cyanogenmod/issues/detail?id=1827
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1027207
Here is the exact keyboard but with some additional language packs which, unlike Google's, can be added later:
https://market.android.com/details?id=com.moo.android.inputmethod.latin.free
I believe there is already a few submits to Google about this very issue and they will have most languages as an option language pack from their menu which you can choose to install. I hope that's coming up in Ice Cream Sandwich

What do you want to say?
That the GUI of the app isn't in English or German? (change in app settings)
Or that the search don't find any English or German feeds?
There is that problem, that I don't have a WP7 phone. So the app was entirely developed on the emulator. So there are some bugs, that need to be squeezed. Therefore I need user feedback, to make the app better and more user friendly. To add features, that users want.

Exactly. I cannot find an option in Settings to change the language. Or I don't understand the option.
