This is a continual bug that appears across certain roms, currently in the latest Dutty V2 Rom.AS works fine over GPRS, and via USB cable to the internet, BUT IMPOSSIBLE over wifi?
Does anybody else have this issue? I have tried very solution etc, I use mail2web exchange, and only stock roms will sync via wifi with it?
Microsoft has desactivated the wifi connection (for security reason) on after the
4.1 version, and WM6 synchronise with the version 4.5.
so plug the cable
The Bluetooth connexion has been disabled (to a computer), not the wifi one. I have an Exchange 2003 server, I'm able to connect and synchronize with ActiveSync my diamond to this serveur using Wifi (on the same network, never tried using internet, perhaps with Exchange 2007 in a few weeks).
Or perhaps is it synchronization threw internet that is forbidden ?
I dont think thats what we're talking about here...
Phone syncs with exchange via net perfectly when its not connected to pc, however when connected to pc phone can not access net
Assuming internet does work, firewall anywhere?
I had the same problem when I tried to connect to my exchange server the first time. Then I connected via 3G and the normal "set security..." came up, even though I set an unlock code before. Whatever after this first connection with 3G the connection with ActiveSync and USB did work fine.

I have my BA connected via USB to notebook. Cannot use internet pass-thru on my BA, and therefore can synch with exch server etc.
vxIPCONFIG shows an IP address on 0.0.0.0, but mobile connection on PC shows 169.254.2.2. I can, using vxutil, ping external IP and domain names, but none on LAN !!
Anybody got an idea. So far I have
1. Disabled firewall on PC / LAN
2. uninstalled Activesync 4.1, reinstalled
3. upgraded to Activesync 4.2
After 3 days of tearing my hair out I'm going round in circles....
thoughts / ideas?
Hi I have simular probs with ActiveSync 4.2 & WM5. However mine are related to the use of a VPN client on my work laptop. I've found that ActiveSync and VPN don't play well together, sometimes. At my regular location I cannot get the PDA to sync, unless I drop my VPN connection. However at another site with all the same hardware, ActiveSync and VPN can co-exist. Not sure if this is a help to you...

What error-code do you get when trying to sync via pc to your exchange-server?
I got the 85002003-error.
vxIPConfig isn't showing the IP of RNDIS. But if you don't change the setting of the Remote NDIS-Host-Adapter (in the list of Network-Adapters) it should work. You may take a look with the Registry-Editor to following key:
HKLM\Comm\RNDISFN1\Parms\TcpIp:
AutoCfg: 0
EnableDHCP: 0
SubnetMask: 255.255.255.0
If you change the Remote NDIS-Host-Adapter over UI the setting may mess up. Then often error "not able to optain IP-Adress" could appear. Then it has to be corrected via Reg-Editor with the settings above.
I installed AirFix to restart the process "connmgr.exe". When having trouble (Error 85002003) to connect via usb-pc to the exchange-server I use this process-killer - and it works afterwards.
Remarks: When I use the AirFix-Program, phone won't work anymore. (No incomming calls). So, it's not usefull depending connection-problems.
You should also take care to delete partnerships in ActiveSync before conncecting a new flashed BA.

Thanks Chrischi for the info, it really helpfull...
With the release of ActiveSync 4.0, mobile users everywhere suffered a great loss. Namely, you can no longer maintain a network connection while synced. According to Microsoft, they removed this useful feature because some corporate customers had thought it was a security risk. However, Airscanner believe that taking it out is a much greater risk.
The result of this feature removal is that any ActiveSync session (via Bluetooth, IR, or USB) will immediately disable your network connection. AirFix will give the control back to you, which is where it belongs.

and here's the files (freeware).
Sorry, this may be a dumb question...
How do you stop the Kaiser from accessing 3G (or WiFi) whilst connected to a PC via ActiveSync. So, duing the day it would use 3G, however when connected via ActivSync at night it would use the PC connection to the internet for all downloads, MS Exchange sync, etc
thanks!
There is a setting in activesync that will disallow all 'wireless' connections while the device is connected. In this case, I believe they mean 3g, gprs, wifi, etc. will all be disabled. It is under 'Connection Settings'.

For me, i would like the reverse.
I'm setting up activesync to connect to Exchange servers (mail2web), but in the connection settings, i can only see the choice "Internet" and nothing else (ie. my GPRS sets)
Thus, I can only get emails pushed to me when i am on WIFI, but not GPRS.
The only way i can make it happen is at START/SETTINGS/CONNECTIONS where i set "All programs that automatically connects to internet .." to my GPRS set, but not "MY WORK NETWORK"
but if i set it to my GPRS set, if i were to accidentally surf web when wifi is not on, it would incurr GPRS charges ..
any idea?
On the same topic...
I used to be able to surf the web on the HTC 8125, using the laptop's internet connection, using the USB cable. I can no longer do this? Any ideas? What happens now it that it the phone conects to GPRS automatically, apparently it can not detect the internet from the laptop...
Thx in advance.

is this setting perhaps the setting you need to turn on on your pc?
this allowed me to be active sync connected to my pc but the phone browsed via Cell Service rather than via my pc.

If your service provider uses a proxy setting on your phone to connect then you have to set up the same proxy in your web browser on your laptop.
Is there some way to force activesync to use the wifi connection only? When wifi isn't connected activesync and, i'm assuming other apps, revert back to 3G or GPRS. My data plan is crap so I'd prefer not to sync at all when I don't have wifi available. I'm using dutty's latest rom, btw.
Google search says: http://www.wifizard.com/tutorialsXP/sync/index.htm
Thats an old article and no longer works for local connections to your computer. When MS released WM5 and the new activesync (which WM5 requires) the feature to sync over WiFi was removed. We were left with with syncing over USB, Bluetooth. If you have an exchange server you can sync to it over WiFi (the only feature you loose is Push Email).
Thanks for the replies. I should clarify my situation though. I sync to an exchange server and an imap server with no problem. But I have it scheduled to sync on a regular basis. So, if wifi isn't available then activesync will automatically use my data connection. I'm looking for a way to have it only use wifi and never the data connection. If wifi isn't available, I don't want to sync.

Disable your data connections completely
Hey,
i was using ICS on my Laptop the past 4 month. Everything worked pretty fine since yesterday. I used the USB cable and got a working LAN4-Connection with the ICS-Software. But instead of surfing, my firefox said: "Not found ...". Even ping didnt worked. "ipconfig" said i have a valid IP and all other connections were disabled. The device itself said "connected". HSDPA worked well on the device itself in Opera, but i wasnt able to get any data on my laptop. I disabled my firewall but it wasnt working. Im using windows xp ...
any ideas?
regards
MoDeM
no solution?
obviously its not an kaiser-problem because it works on my PC but not on my Notebook ...
any ideas?
It can be a lot of things. Start by checking the Kaiser's USB network IF IP address with internet sharing on and connected, and verify that no network card on the PC is using the same subnet. Also check that the PC is set to get IP address automatically on the "windows mobile internet sharing device" connection.
Internet sharing with Kaiser
I have the same problem with my laptop and Kaiser. When I try with the Diamond of my wife its working, but with the Kaiser, using now RomEos 4.6, he get connection but can not find anything.
Well I have all but given up on gettin Palringo to connect on my TP from Alltel.
I have heard of a lot of issues using this program on the TP. When I try and connect its an endless loop of trying to connect with no timeout.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks
I guess noone uses this anymore?
I use palringo but i don't have any troubles signing in, perhaps there is some issue with the proxy. Have you tried connecting to the internet with another program before/while you're trying to sign into palringo? I'm not sure it will initiate an internet connection, and i have a constant internet connection due to my exchange server, and other push email
I havent had any issues connecting with Palringo... but have a setup similar to previous poster... Email running keeping data connection alive.
It seems to be an ongoing Alltel/Palringo problem. None of the MSM75XX devices will connect to Palringo using the Alltel Data connection, they will connect with WiFi or Activesync which leads to beleive that its an Alltel problem, However the J2ME version of Palringo will connect just fine using Alltel Data connection.
Yeah, been using Palringo for sometime now and have no problems like that.
Ill have to try the J2ME version see if that will resolve the issue even with the active data connection I get no connection.
