Anyone figured out how to map to a different button? This is the one feature i miss.

That is what I tried, but there isn't a comm button on the Kaiser... It didn't work on any of the buttons I found. Does anyone know the reg key? we could probably change it to the ok/close button instead. I emailed kyphur to see if he knows...

I tried this, and it's a good concept, except the AT&T ROM doesn't expose PTT as a possible button mapping, which means one of the existing start/PIE/messaging/ok/camera buttons would have to be sacrificed for a vibe toggle.
The superfluous PTT button is the obvious candidate for a vibrate toggle but sadly neither of the suggestions allow its use as such.

As the 8525 was eventually hacked for the PTT button to be useful you will have to be patient. This device is new so it takes time.

This works fine, load Vibra Switch, it will place 2 apps in the programs folder "Vibra Switch" and "Vibra Switch Delayed" (you can delete that one). Then in Settings>buttons> Select button 6, the top-left button currently used for single-press=Voice Speed Dial, press-and-hold=Recorder, re-assign the "press-n-hold button to be "Vibra Switch" and you are done.
I've been listing my tweak tries in amother thread, I can't get Bluetooth to redirect all sounds out to headset and I also can't get vjay lumos III to make the display go super bright. With no transreflective screen, this is now a very important tweak to me, I hope these can be figured out.

Use a little app called "BTaudio toggle" it works good for me!

Love you spiro! Searched and found BTaudio.exe, Life is good! With my 8525 I had to use Mortscripts, this is easier. Pressing my Jawbone headset button launches VoiceDialer and kills the re-direct, but that's no big deal. I like that I can now launch Voicedialer.
Last tweak remaining is a single button toggle to BRIGHTEN the screen!

Vibra Switch not working
I installed Vibra Switch in my new Tilt but is working as described. Anyone knows why?

i'm not sure about the commands to switch to vibe mode ( i use phone suite) but to expose the PTT button (short and long)
try adding a couple of new reg keys 40C6 and 40C7 in HKLM/software/microsoft/shell/keys. mimic the the keys and values on 40C5 and then soft reset.... it will then show up in the button control panel.

Yes, I can confirm this works well. I've mapped a long press of my PTT button to Vibra Switch, so I just hold it down to toggle between ring and vibrate.

I created a shortcut to the backlight application in /Windows/Programs and then mapped it to a button. A single push of that button brings up the backlight app, from there you can use the right directional button to increase brightness in steps. Biggest problem for me was adjusting brightness outside on a sunny day where the screen can not be seen - this fixes that for me.

Remapping hardware buttons

There are several applications which allows you to remap buttons (AE Button Plus, HButton...). If you dont need more than 6-8 shortcuts you should be fine with this. (I prefer this remapping solution because it doesnt require to keep some program running in RAM)
These shortcuts are basically generic but here's what I've found and tested on Wings.

About
If you need turn on WiFi, you have to press at least 4 keys by default to start WiFi (using Comm Manager).
After installation of WirelessToggle, just press and hold Comm Manager button to toggle Wifi (on/off). (Alternatively you can use attached exe and assign WirelessToggle to any button / shortcut you want to).
And as always: There are few more programs that can be used for faster turning on/off WiFi but this keeps the RAM free as much as possible.
Installation:
WirelessToggle.cab - just install
Run WirelessToggle.exe (from \Program Files\smartmadsoft\WirelessToggle) manually (just once) before using the shortcut (otherwise you wont be able to confirm dialog window asking you about running unsigned code)

Support:
Tested only on S730 but it should work on other devices as well (will test it later).

does anyone know the WM6.1 connection manager (wireless manager in home screen) file name?
wireless toggle doesn't work for me (wm6.1) it removes all wireless settings from the WM comm manager, and swiches wireless off right after I've enabled it.

i need to look into this, whether it will work on a diamond, cause it's hardware button associations are plain stupid...

i right clicked on psshutxp.exe and selected create a shortcut.. i renamed file to Long_Power.lnk .. dropped in my windows folder and reset my htc touch pro (cdma) ,,, never asked if i wanted to overwrite anything ...
now when i press down my power button... the same default action happens... it is not running psshutxp....

Remapping headset button?
I'd like to bounce an idea and see if your solution might work for this specific issue.
Seems like the headphone button = green answer button on newer htc systems. If I press the headhpone button twice - I'd like to jump one track forward. Press it three times, I'd like to jump one track back again. Would this be possible to map somehow? That is, multiple key inputs?

I know that this is the Wings forum but nevertheless I would like to know if anybody has found a similar mapping functionality for the HD2... I tested several shortcuts but only long_send.ink seems to work.

For Multibuttonmappingwhatsoever I can recommend HButton as it allows to activate different things depending on how long you press the button. Remapping doesnt really work for me after all, nothing happens..

I'm just too desperate.

For the HD2 unfortunately only the long_send button seems to work. I tested the others mentioned on the first page of this thread but they did not work - at least not by using shortcuts or reg keys (but I did not test any special software as HButton).

Missing buttons in settings

Hi i have a problem with my MDA IV Compact. I searched the forums but found no answer to my problem.
I want to do some basic button remapping and so i go to settings -> personal -> buttons and guess what. There are NO buttons listed in the buttons list.
Has anyone come across this before and if so can you help me solve it? I mean there are only few hardware buttons present in diamond its a shame not to be able to map them.

The only button you can map by default is the long press of the 'dial' hardware key. This should be showing in your button list as 'Button 1(Hold)'. There is an application called GScroll available here, which lets you map the four hardware keys by touch (double tapping them). Not exactly what you're after, but it's all I can think of to help you out

Diamond CAN have its call key remapped via Windows.
I had the opposite; a glitch entry appeared in the buttons list.
I am attaching a reg-file which will bring back the call button mapping. But be careful, this comes from Windows with localization patch.
Or, you can hard reset. If MDA CIV ROM creators didn't remove it intentionally, it should be there.

Landspace messaging

can anyone give me some feedback on landscape messaging on Topaz ? Is it available ? perhaps include some picts or vid ? i'd appreciate it ..
secondly, i've never own a htc mobile and i've recently seen unpackaging of Topaz device ... the headphones cable and headphones itself seemed like one piece that cannot be unplugged in the middle and replaced with another pair of headphones, is that correct ? Does any reduction exists, so i'd able to plug in headset of my own ?

I have one of these (http://www.htcaccessorystore.com/uk/p_htc_item.aspx?i=179134), the original HTC remote control with a 3.5mm jack. I have not tried it on the D2 (mine has not arrived yet ), but it works great on other HTC devices.

Yes, the text entry for Email or SMS can be used in landscape with full keyboard.
And the headphones are standard HTC bundled ones where you cannot connect your own headphones down into the remote etc.
You'll need to buy one of the many adapters from Expansys or online which will allow this.

It seems it is not possible at the moment (reviews indicate only 1 button is remapable, the call or hold one iirc), although with additional soft it may be possible: maybe ssMaHo (it was mentioned in another thread), maybe AE button plus (non free ), or others?
I'd like to remap volume buttons too, for page up/ page down i ebooks, they are quite well located to allow comfortable page switching while holding the TD2 in one hand...

You can remap more buttons with AEBPlus. I have remapped the Back-button to both a task manager (click once) and OK/Enter (click and hold). You can remap other buttons too (don't know about the windows button though) for one click, two clicks, three clicks and click and hold. BTW, AEBPlus costs only USD 8.

Yes I can verify it works. I have short press volume up mapped to Up Arrow and short press volume down mapped to Down Arrow.
Long press volume up/down are now the volume keys.

Actually, can I ask what options in AEBPlus you selected to modify the Back button? I cannot see it as an option in AEBPlus for that particular button?

The button you want to edit is the OK-button. Hit the OK-button entry in the list in AEBPlus (hold it for a couple of seconds) to get the options menu. For me, the OK-button is the second in the list, before the Windows-button entry. Choose 3 "let AEBPlus handle this button". I chose for "1. Single keypress": "the taskmanager" and for "4. Press and hold button": "hit enter".
The entries may be called a little different from what I wrote, because my version is dutch and I don't know the exact translations they used.

I've set up on longer hold hardware volume up/down buttons to up and down keys so, while you are in audio player it works just fine (switching songs), though while you aren't you're screwed.
Any solutions ?

Perfect - that works fine. Appreciate your help with this as I wasn't sure what teh 'Back' button would be called.

I don't know why I can't configure any button using AEBPlus ver.2.6.6 for my Diamond 2.
I tried to configure the "Back" button. I chose "OK-button", then chose 3 "let AEBPlus handle this button", chose 2 "Double keypress", chose "Run Application" and chose an application "Super Calendar".

i'm looking for a replacement for AEBplus
I only need a few simple things:
left and right button - should rotate my screen, like it does when i open the keypad
ok button - task manager (or today screen from where i could start the taskmanager)
ok button (long press) - start an application
end call (long press) - lock the device (the you need to enter your password kind of lock)
What program other that AEB can do that and wont use as much CPU resources as AEB does?

you can just go to settings>buttons and assign either keft or right soft key to screen rotate, easiest way IMO

No i cant..there is only the left and right softkey button. Nothing else..and i could not setup a long press this way.

I use AEButon Plus on my X1a and I am thrilled with it. It doesn't have much (if any) negative effect on performance on mine.
Have you tried it on the X1?
Also for End Key there is a program called "Long Press End Key" I think. It is nice, and cooked into a lot of ROMs.

advanced config - menu (button) - more settings - key mappings

Mobile Magic doenst support the buttons i need. No longpress for End and no support for the OK button at all..that was the first program i tried.
To bad the options for the End key are grey in Advanced Conifg.

X1BC should allow for a lot more options than mx X1ButtonMapper. I think there is also a second application from the same author called X1BH or something. Check that out.
X1ButtonMapper is pretty lightweight actually. The most overhead involved will be by calling the script functionality but that is done asynchronous, meaning that X1ButtonMapper doesn't wait for the called application or script to finish - it just launches it.
I didn't remap the red and green phone buttons because they can't be easily remapped and I think they are central buttons which should keep their original functionality. I think remapping them will cause more bugs than you will gain functionality. With X1ButtonMapper you already gain enough options for the remaining keys (each with short and long press) which should be enough for most applications. You can also reassign the missing FN+key combos on the keyboard.
I did use the Tab key as Ctrl substitude because I think Tab is not important for Windows Mobile. It is substituted in most dialogs with the right/left keys so use these. You can get the original Tab function when pressing FN+Tab for the few situations where you really need it.
I am using X1ButtonMapper for a long time now and havn't had any stability issues - maybe that's the trade off for having less features.

X1Button manager somehow didnt react to my OK key. I allready have a standalone taskmanager mortscript could run but Ok didnt do anythink. Longpress of the softkeys to rotate the screen worked nicely though.
Longpress delay is a little longer than im used to but that not a big problem.
The longpress of the End key has allready a keylock function as standard setting (wich i find totally stupid because i turn the device of with the switch on top). There must be a registry setting that i could alter so it would run the password lock instead.
I will check into X1BC...

X1BC works thank you...and i like it much more than X1BM because i can setup everything to my likings, longpress timing, vibration on/off and wether i want a Control key replacement.
I could even use the panel key to lock my device if reprogramming of the end key button is not possible.
Does anyone know wich program i have to run to password lock my device? Maybe its possbile with mortscript..i should check that...
