I have TomTom7 installed which is working fine (almost).
When I place my Diamond in the car holder (three way output w. USB-Charge/USB-Headphones/3,5mm Headphone) all sounds from my phone are muted (believed to be connected to a headphone I guess).
I could connect the phone to the car audio system via a 3,5 mm audio plug, but then I cannot listen to the radio at the same time as navigating with TomTom.
Is there any known way to solve this so the TomTom7 directions and warnings are always routed through the Diamond internal speaker?

i have this carholder too, it's from brodit right? It's true, the moment you plug in the diamond it thinks it's connected to a headset, so no sound from internal speaker. Ideal for listening to music when connected to your car stereo ofcourse, but when receiving a call you have to take out the diamond, because the sound goes through the car speakers (if the output is connected to your car stereo ofcourse) but you can't talk back because diamonds mic is also muted! I hope there is a way to solve this. Maybe a little program that allows you to direct sound and mic settings?
It's also a similar problem with the little USB to 3.5mm audio adapters, they make the diamond think there is a mic plugged in when there isn't and when someone calls you while you're listening to music, they cant hear you unless you unplug the headphones.
I've also noticed that when the diamond is in my car and connected to my bluetooth kit, the calls come via bluetooth but TomTom does not, this particularly annoys me, as when I'm listening to loud music I miss the speed camera alerts and also obviously cant hear the voice directions.
There seem to be some fairly serious shortcomings in this area. A simple set of options that let the user choose what he/she likes would be best.

Yesterday driving home from my work I noticed that the ring tone on an incoming call was heard even when the phone was placed in the holder...
So there must be a way to have the sound re-directed to the internal speaker???

Try this little program http://www.freewarepocketpc.net/ppc-download-btmusic.html It sends audio from you diamond to either BT headphone or speaker. Just tried it and seems to work fine, but does need .netCF 2.

Hi, this BT music doesn't seem to work with my car kit... My car kit supports HFP profile (Handsfree profile)...

if you rename btmusic.exe.config (not btmusic.exe!!) you can run it too with .NET CF 3.5

Rename to what?
I figured it out. Renaming btmusic.exe.config to btmusic.exe.configx does it.

I have recently accuired the TomTom Navagator 2 software and am extremely pleased with it.
I do not currently have any car kit for making handsfree phone calls.
I have installed tha loud voice prompts so that the tomtom voice commands can be heard through the xda's speakers and im happy with this.
However compared to the loud voice prompts by the navigator software the handsfree audio available through the xdas speaker during a phone call is almost inaudiable over the road noise.
I therefore think im going to have to buy or build some handsfree.
My question is primarilly if im to use the car_audio_r and car _audio_l pins to output audio does all audio output through these pins or only phone audio. ie will i also hear the navigator voice prompts through my hands free (this is what i want)
Also Im wondering if it is possible to use the output from these pins to send audio to a car speaker without connecting an external mic and continueing to use the microfone built in to the xda during phone calls as know one has ever complained about not hearing me - i just cant hear them.
Thanks in advance for any help anyone can give - im sure somebody out there has played with this allready.

As long as leave the CAR_ON# pin open (i.e. not connect it to ground or 5V), the microphone of the device is used.

Do you mean that internal microphone is used but all audio is still output to the car_audio_r and car _audio_l pins with the car_on# pin left open.

That sounds like exactly what i need - ill modify my tomtom cable to include the 2 new connectors then run an extra cable out of the 3 way connector on the tomtom lead to go to either my car stereo or a speaker amp mounted under the seat or something.
I dont know if my stereo in my car will except car phone input as its in the shop at the moment getting repaired so i cant take it out - but how do these things usually work - does a pin on the stereo side have to go +5 or GND for the car phone audio to replace the music or does it detect audio and automatically cut in over the music... excuse my ignorance car stereos and car kits are not in my realm of expertise.
If there is a pin that has to be made +5 or GND on steroes to know when the audio needs to be output can the xda handle this at all...
Usually car radios have a mute input to turn off or down the music when the phone needs the speakers. The XDA does not have such an output. You could fabricate something that detects audio and then for a preset time presents the right mute signal to the radio.
Always questions ask you do... Try and fail you must to learn!

Didn't find too many threads about the neatness of the Kaiser BT with certain devices. Though my main memory gets still eaten up like ther's no tomorrow I played a little bit today during lunch-time.
1.) External speaker/handsfree set:
I bought a blueant supertooth light since we have several phones in the family That's the most convenient way to have a mobile handsfree and no wires and literally NO installation.
Enable BT at the Kaiser, use BT-Audio (attached) and re-route device speaker output to the bluetooth handsfree speaker.
Voila, the TomTom Lady is talking to you load and clear. Eats up some battery but for that you have a car charger - NEAT!
Should work with popular motorola T305 and others as well.
2.) Car with AUX/iPod input:
Get an A2DP bluettooth kit (I have the i-tech clip R35) get a male/male 3.5 mm jack cable (preferable a little longer that you can use the mic), connect to the car. Not only that you can listen to the music stored on the kaiser through your car stereo ... call comes in, take call and listen through your speakersystem OR listen to regular radio or music, call comes in, press aux at your radio and ... talk.

Could have a better user interface, I agree.
Do you use an external BT speaker/microphone or do you try to use AUX for your car stereo. If you use the car stereo NOTHING is required as long as you have an A2DP bluetooth set with external earphone jack.
With the car kit these are the steps that worked for me:
Enable BT in CommMgr?
Click BTAudioToggle
Click BTAudioOn

If it is a headset is it A2DP compatible?

Try the following:
- Soft reset after you disabled bluetooth (to have a clear starting point)
- Enable bluetooth
- Check if it is connected
- Open settings
- Tap and HOLD on your headset
- Set as handsfree
- Set BTAudio ON (don't use the toggle)
- Open TomTom or whatever gives you some voice commands and check.
If it doesn't work ... well it doens't work with your headset ... sorry
If you REALLY want the function buy an itech or so for ~ 26 bucks

I'm wanting to use my Diamond in the car to replace both my old iPod and sat-nav, while still having phone functions available. There are a few things I'm not happy with, so I thought I see what other people are doing.
I have a car head unit with a direct 3.5mm line-in, which used to have the iPod on the end. The Diamond works fine plugged into this through an ebay 3.5mm\USB adaptor.
If I plug the 12v>USB charger in, I get a whine over the audio - not a big problem, it's just a ground-loop, so I'll stick an isolating transformer in-line.
The main problem I have is switching between the internal speaker and the external output. If I want to have the radio on, rather than MP3, I have to unplug the adaptor, and plug the charging cable in direct, so that I can keep the battery charged - not ideal. This way I can hear the TomTom voices through the internal speaker, but it seems wrong to have to swap leads this way.
The other main problem is if I have MP3 and TomTom all through the stereo, and I get a call, I can hear the call over the stereo, but can't speak, as the Diamond is expecting an external microphone.
I guess what I need is a utility to force only the internal microphone to be used, and to allow me to force the internal speaker when I want to use the radio. It there such a thing?
I think one of these car holders has an option to plug in charger and usb-3.5mm jack adapter at the same time....

If i had the skills i'd try to figure out a hack to pause/mute the mp3 and mute satnav when in a call... but I don't.
That's not the problem - I can plug in the charger and 3.5mm audio at the some time, but that redirects all the audio to the car stereo, and disconnects the mic. Removing the adaptor and plugging in just the charger enables the microphone, but all my MP3s then are played through the internal speaker.
What I need is a utility to force the internal microphone to be used _all_ the time, and let me choose when to use the internal speaker when a headset is detected.
I don't suppose anyone knows how the Diamond recognises a headset? Is there a resistor link across a couple of the pins in the 11pin connnector? I'm just thinking I could make up a cable with a switch to break that contact, and 'virtually' disconnect the headset when I want the radio, or need the microphone active during a call.
You could try this program. It seems to be a virtual switch between the earpiece and external speaker. I use it a a solution for skype and other voip programs that only work through the external speaker, but the works the other way as well.

I have the same issue of kaisee.
I use the diamond as mp3 player in my car stereo (aux-in) and i need the mic allways available to use the phone without disconect the usb or audio plug.
In my old magician this worked just fine becouse the mic was allways available.
Is the .exe posted by dctech the answer(thanks man) ? has anybody tested ? is it reliable or there is another solution?

You need a proper bluetooth car kit to allow this. Parrot ones are very good. If you want to listen to music as well as phone calls and sat nav i would suggest that you get one with both handset and A2DP bluetooth profiles. There is a workaround app you can use to get music through a car kit with just a handset or headset profile but the quality is mono and very poor
I am the happy owner of a HTC Topaz.
I ride a motorbike, and have recently bought a bluetooth crash helmet with built in speakers / mic which works a treat for answering and making calls and also for listening to TomTom navigation instructions from my HTC Topaz.
However, I have yet found a solution to allow me to listen to the built in radio via bluetooth. Because HTC requires the plug-in headset to act as an antena the radio doesnt work without it.
However when I plug in the headset, i get instant radio reception but then the sound is routed to the plug-in headset , rather thean the bluetooth speakers.
My logic tells me that there must be some way to use the plug in headset as ONLY an antena allowing the sound to be routed by deafault to the bluetooth headset. Surely this is software driven?
I am not a software Guru, but keen to learn and frustrated that there doesnt seem to be a yet obvious solution to this problem.
Any help would be appreciated.

I have searched everywhere and can't seem to find a answer to this...
I use a phone cradle in the car, using my topaz as my music player, connecting my phone to my car stereo with a male-male 3.5mm audio jack.
I want to be able to steam music via bluetooth from any other compatible phone / device to my phone, meaning I don't have to trail cables everywhere when a passenger wants to play something.
I would have thought this to be a simple-ish thing to setup but cannot find any information on how to do it. Is it even possible, and where would I start if it is?
I also want to use my on-board mic when the headset is plugged so I can have call audio over car speakers, although iv been led to believe this isn't possible because of hardware reasons, can anybody clarify that?

If I understand you correctly, you want to stream music TO your phone over BT from another device? Not possible.
For hearing call over speakers and using mic, you need to get the M-F w/built in mic.
I too don't think it will be possible to stream music from another device to your phone except if you transfer the entire music mp3 file via bluetooth to your device and then play it from there.
Regarding the possibility of using the device's microphone whilst using the car speakers for sound, again I'm afraid I don't think this is possible. I have a similar set-up to you in that my TD2 is connected to an FM transmitter which also charges my TD2 at the same time in a nice cradle. The TD2 thinks it is connected to a headset when cradled. The microphone is inactive in this state which is a shame as it would have made a good hands free system if it were to be active....

I use this set up as well. You just need the cable with the built in mic.
My RF Transmitter has a male plug, So I found the HTC cable that has the HTC USB to Female with built in mic. This is my basic set up.

That set up looks great Bruce, but I don't want to be fiddling about plugging in so many cables with so many wires visible. Brodit does something similar too, all in a cradle with an extended wire so you would be able to hide all the cables....
