If so, how well does it run please???

Android on Xperia

Hi everybody!
Why should be the device bricking fun limited to brother Raphael?
Android runs on Raphael
HardSPL is being worked on
Sounds promising?
Unfortunately I know little about how far the Xperia diverges from the current HTC branded lineup, hardware-wise.
Could some knowledgeable people share their opinion about porting Android onto Xperia e.g:
Booting linux (SD, MSM7200A vs MSM7201A ...)
Display (~ Blackstone?)
Keyboard (~ Raphael?)
Touchscreen (~ Blackstone?)
Cellular radio driver (~ Raphael? US / Asia / Eu?)
Wifi, B/T (~ Raphael?)
Buttons
GPS (~ Raphael?)
MSM7200A "3D" acceleration, FM radio?
Potential show stoppers?
Thank you!
UPDATE:
I extended the Xperia wiki page with some specifications (because alot of... strange... specs are floating on the web)
Yea that would be awesome to have android on this super bad @ss hardware. We still need a hard SPL before we can flash anything though

yeah that is true .. hopefully oli, comnex, itsxda, or tom condon are working on something or atleast plan on doing one for this phone ...
The Xperia, uses the same CPU as the Raphael, the model numbers vary due to patent issues but you'll find that a euro x1 matches a euro Raphael etc.
The 3D acceleration is in fact a 128MB ATI Imageon (2300/2700G - not sure which, don't own the phone myself =P)

I thought the 2700G was an intel accelerator, the one used on the Dell Axim? I might be completely worng, Ati might have the same model numbers, I don't know.
As you'll may know. I'm from the Android on Kaiser project.
My Xperia X1 will receive this Friday.
Then I'ma try to get Android 1.0 to work.

Wahey! nice one Xmoo
Very nice information, please keep us updated!
wow allready?? sounds sweet. But how did you flash it onto the phone?
ill buy the x1 only if andriod fully works?! because this combi will rock i hope any1 know what how en when?
Android will never fully work on the X1 because android needs a multitouch enabled display which the X1 doesnt have.
So it will always be somewhat limited...anyway, will be nice to try it out. I dont think there is an Anroid only ROM yet, afaik all the running Android versions on WM phones have to be started through WM.

This statement just doesn't make any sense.

What about a reason why it doesnt make sense in your opinion ?
The t-mobile G1 has a capactive display that features multitouch, like the Iphone.
WM phones like the X1 or any other HTC WM Phone have traditional touch displays that dont support multitouch, so you would never be able to use android apps that need multitouch to work, or atleast cant use some of the features.

He's probably right. Android itself is just an OS/platform and it's has no limit on what kind of touch panel you use.
Correct me if I am wrong, but as far as I know the G1 hasn't got multitouch. The captive touchscreen will most likely support it however this feature has yet to be implemented. As far as the avrage consumer concerns, it does not support multi-touch. Hence stating that android needs full multi-touch capability to work properly would be wrong, as I and probably you too consider the G1 fully functional.
well the screen DOES support multi-touch and the apps will come sooner or later.
Anyway, didnt want to spoil the fun, would also love to check that out, just wanted to point that out.

Gaming problem - Slow games

Hello guys,
I've recently purchased some games directly from the gameloft shop, only to find they run execrably slow.
This got me very annoyed so i naturally tried other games, for testing's sake, with the same results.
Now i've tried this with different ROMs, NRG's latest WM6.5 as well as Natf's 6.1.
And yes, i did apply the Ace game fix on WM6.5
What i really want to know is, am i the only one that encounters these problems? Is there a fix for this?
Built in games like Teeter work flawlessly but any other java or cab game is
It seems just wrong that on my previous Sony Ericsson phones mostly any game would run so fluent, and on my Touch Pro with ram, 500+ CPU and so on it runs like crap, mind the expression.
It sounds like you, don't know how the problem could persist over multiple roms though...
It is strange indeed, not to mention annoying.
I have heard that there are driver packs.
So far i've found a version of the ATI driver linked by a member, the same on i'm attaching in this post, for veridicity's sake.
Could anyone please direct me to any other recommended drivers for my Raph?
Thanks in advance.
I think it has to do with the GPU. The games may not take advantage of it, and rely on the CPU. I also downloaded a game from ATT "Peggle" which I really like, but runs at 20fps or less, very annoying also. I have not found a fix yet, and I'm not sure there will ever be. I've tried the game on a TP2 and same thing.
I'm just waiting for the HD2 to come to the US, and I doubt I will have any problems with the game on that device
Well, guess i can let this die, i've read around and noticed it's a general issue, due to the Qualcomm chip and stuff.
Decided to sell away this piece of junk. GG HTC for awesome support! :|

[Q] Android on Xperia X1?

Hi guys and gals. I own an Xperia X1 and am sick and tired of not having decent apps.
Did anyone tried Android on this phone? Does it work well?
ATM I have HTC Diamond Rom and it's fine, I can check my mail, update my FB/Twitter status, it has a nice EQ embedded with the player, and many features.
The question is: "Is it worth it installing Android on this phone?"
Thanks in advance and have a nice friday!
Before you ask the obvious question ("Why are you asking this?"), I need the Soundcloud App. I really do.

Thanks John!
I'll back up just in case it blows up and give it a try. The slight overclocking seems nice and the HW accelleration and GPS support too.

I Moved from Android And Love WP7 Personally, But You should look at the features that you need and use in android and find out if they are present in WP7.
Personally I know you'll have a shock when you notice how 2 phones with the same processors act differently, WP7 seems to really utilise the processor for speed, I sat in an o2 store using both models and within 10 minutes I knew I wanted the HD7.. It just felt more fluid and I like the way that it seamlessly integrates everything
WP7 is very pleasing to the eye and personally I Like it, but if you're gonna miss the features in Android i'd suggest don't move.
If you update to the developer build of mango you would get to see the shocking speeds of that too, it seems to make the phone even faster, and not by just a little bit, by a heck of a lot!
The apps are pricey however, one of the setbacks of the Xbox live system and the fairly new operating system sadly.
These are my opinions on the phones, but personally you might think differently
Thank you for your input; I've was always into WinMo and moved over to Andriod.
Didn't give WP7 a shot yet, though I must admit that it seems to be more faster and fluid than andriod. The applications are my concern..but I do need a change
let's see if anyone else would like to share their experience...
EDIT: does WP7 support VOIP/SIP?? That would be a deal breaker for me.
Thanks.
Hi,
Android graphically resembles a little win 6th. It has great potential but they really are useful for small percent of people. WP7 is a new OS, still far from perfect, but moving in the right direction. It is good that Nokia will work. This will force the great progress and I think at the end of the year we will already have a good system.
Personally I have HTC HD7 and HTC IS and I am not going to get rid HD7.

xperia play

hi,
i've a HD2 at the moment, but i want something to game on.
i've no need for dual core phones best benchmarks etc.
so i think of buying myself a used xperia play for low money.
but there are some things im interested in:
-are the games free?
-can custom firmware be flashed like on HD2 with cwr?
-is there any program out like the HD2 toolkit to make a task29 and things like that?
i would appreciate every help
your's joe
