Guys, heres the story before i spill the problem.
This phone i originally own by my brother, it already has screen alignment problem every now and then, until i removed the battery the sim card then re attach everything, then the screen dont have any problem anymore.
Last month i exchange my n73 for his o2. Since i am a teacher, this phone is super helpfull to assist me every second with notes and typing whenever wherever. After 2 month the screen is having problem, ocasionally sometimes words written using the block recognizer all of sudden becomes scrambles, and now, the screen is useless, the touch screen is non functional.
The question is, do i have to replace the screen altogether, or maybe theres a wire loose or something? was the problem reappear due to active use?
Any assist or advice will be helpfull. oh and thanks in advance.
I am having a major problem making calls on this phone. when I dial a number there is no sound from the speaker at all. I can't even hear the phone ringing unless I put the phone into speaker mode. However the phone wrks fine for incoming calls
Am I missing something obvious here in the settings or is it more likely to be something wrong with the phone.
I had the same problem. For me hard reset solved it.
Just tried the hard reset the speaker is still not working.
To be honest when I first got the phone I had the same problem but assumed I was doing something wrong. I put the sim back in yesterday and it was working fine. Today the problem seems to have come back, so looks like it must be a hardware problem.
Anyone else with a similar problem.
Update - Speaker is now not working on incoming calls either.
Time to return for a new one i think
I agree. The speaker might have dodgy wiring.
Looks like its going back tomorrow. However from speeking to the guy at expansys today it doesn't look like there is'nt any stock left.
You could keep it for a while, then send it back when stock is due, I suppose. The new stock should have the improved ROM!

There are 2 sound controls . One for the system and one for the phone. Look at the arrow on top.......
Just recieved my replacement unit from Expansys. First thing I noticed is that on intial boot up the location was already set to london, the manuals are also european. Does this mean I now have a full UK release model rather than the original Hong Kong one. If so then I guess this is a bit of a bonus and makes up for getting a faulty handset in the first place.
Any other differences between the Hong Kong version and the UK version that I can check to confirm this?
I ourchased mine from expansys on 17/6/08 (i.e. it left them on the 17th) mine appears to have the newer European ROM, location was set to London etc. but the charger block came with an adapter to fit UK power sockets which makes me think mine is still an import.
However, I was able to register it on the HTC UK Website which tells me that my warranty runs from 5/30/2008 ~ 8/30/2009 - the site is also offering me downloads for the device (currently sprite back up and a hotfix for a charging problem)

You can check what rom version it is...as far as i know, the new uk models have a rom version of 1.37. So if yours has that then its the uk spec Diamond.
I have similar problems. After some random period of time, the whole phone goes completely mute. I can't hear anything, not even the dialing tone when making a call which is incredibly frustrating. I don't get notification sounds either, nothing. If I go to the ringtone options and try to play any ringtone I get an error message, that the file cannot be found or is corrupted.
The problem only goes away when I restart the phone, but comes back after one phonecall.
I've only had this phone for 3days, and this is my first wm-phone. I haven't installed any software yet.
guess im not the only one. no ringtone, no sms alert, no alarm sound, cannot hear person on the phone. problem is its so random can be working one minute, then all i need to do is adjust the volume and then its gone, or just sitting there working and then i receive a call and all of a sudden i can't hear anyone. i can live with a laggy TF3D interface but this renders the phone useless
People still expiriencing this like I am? I was watchin an divx-encoded avi yesterday after a softreset to enable sounds. Movie played fine for 10minutes, but after I had to pause it for a few seconds the sounds were gone again. Incredibly frustrating.
UK Rom here and also experiencing random issues with volume and notifications. Poor testing from HTC IMHO.
UK rom here as well and as far as i can see, im not suffering from any of those problems you guys are having.
To me it seems like you got dodgy phones...id get them replaced or fixed asap. I wouldnt live with a phone that acts like yours above.
Same issue here. But if this is really the case. Why does it work after a softreset then?
I believe more it's a softwarebug in the radiorom.
Any updates here?
Same here....Problem started today.
Speaker is working fine; I hear my ringtone and all other sounds, when I put it on "speaker" during a call it works aswell. When I just pick up the call I hear nothing.
I had the 1.37 ROM flashed and I reflashed it his afternoon with the new official ROM released by HTC to see if it solved the problem.
But still the same problem, soft and a hard reset didn't help either.
So I think I have to say goodbye to my Diamond..
I hope the repair service from HTC is fast, any one any experience with that?
It now happened for the third time: The phone is up and running but when an incoming call is received it does not ring at all and the microphone + speaker is also not working (muted) - basically there is no audio at all though you can take and end the call.
Once the phone is in this state alarms and sound notifications are no longer working as well, after a soft reset everything was fine again.
I wonder if I'm the only user who has experienced this kind of issue.

well foo, i got it to, but i had the same problem wuth my diamond as well, it went away with tge officual rom update, so ill guess well have to wait foor the rom upgrade this time to.
Ah okay - at least I'm not alone with this issue, good to know.
It seems this problem is not a common problem, as I do not read any other posts regarding this issue in the Xperia section. Though I found a thread in the Diamond section that exactly describes my problem.
As HTC stated the problem is related to a hardware issue, I returned mine now. I'm lucky that Amazon.de just returned me the money (completely) so I can buy another one in the next days.
It seems I am having this problem with my X1i. I am in the US and the Sony Ericsson support centre in the UK is telling me that I would have to pay for shipping to and from the UK Sony Repair centre.
The following web page suggests I am eligible for international support and repairs, but I called the US Sony Ericsson line and they told me that since the X1 was not released here yet, that I would not be able to receive support in the US for the X1 (either for getting it repaired or a replacement unit).
http://www.sonyericsson.com/cws/sup...endedserviceoffertailoredforx1/x1?cc=gb&lc=en
I would send it back to superetrader.co.uk and get a replacement that way, but they do not have any in stock and given delays in shipments in the UK I am hesitant to send it back and wait for new stock.
I am going to try going into a Sony Style store sometime this week and show them my "Travelers service" card and see if they can get it fixed here. Does anyone have any other suggestions I might try?
bluetooth problem with carkit and audio off
I folks,
i do also have the same problem. I have a SE BT car kit HCB 300 and it is just annoying, that it does not work proper. Sometimes BT works, sometimes not, sometimes i have to restart the phone, sometimes ... just annoying.
A lot of times Xperia recognizes the 300, then i am calling somebody, phone is giving signal to the 300, but after a few seconds, audio is off again.
After that audio is not working anymore.
Could it be, that your problems are also caused by the known BT problem?
Ingo
Exactly same problem
Exactly the same problem as foo.
If you remove and replace battery, sometime problem is solve, sometime no.
Soft reset solve the problem.
I made hardware reset + flash xperia but no solution.
I returned mine and bought a new one that does not have this issue. It really seems to be a hardware issue.

It could be, although I have not paired with a BT headset since buying it, and in addition I have hard reset the phone and put it in airplane mode (no RF at all) and the audio still manages to completely die where only a Soft Reset will restore the sound (as noted by x1inside).
Depending on the amount of time I leave the phone sometimes the phone after playing some music for 5 seconds will stutter and restore sound. This is similar to the description in the Touch Diamond thread that foo linked. Also when this stutter sound restores, as noted in that thread, the reception indicator in the system tray indicates that the signal is temporarily lost and then restored.

Thanks for letting us know, good to have this confirmed so when I visit the store or send it to Sony Ericsson repair centre, I can refer them to this thread.
well i also have the same problem with my x1.
reseting it dosent work, flashing it with new rom dosent work.
But i cant understand how the problem would be in the hardware, when you reset it it starts working! i mean if it was a hardware problem the sound should be of all the time?
Is there ant possibility if this is a software problem, i mean WindowsMobile 6.1, because my dad complaining the same behavior yesterday, and his device is Samsung Omnia.
Do all WM6.1 effected?
I got the X1a in the US. No problem here. When there is an incoming call and I was on the phone then it will beep to let me know if I want to answer or inorge. If I answer then it will put other call on hold till finish talking then connect me back to the first caller.
My x1 is also affected by this audio problem. If I restart my phone sound output works for some minutes and turns automatically off as the other users reported.
Same problem here just got an X1 and the sound works perfect after leaving it a short while the sound completely stops working no music, notifications or anything. By the sounds of it I think I will send mine back to O2 and get a replacement, although it does seem more like some sort of software fault than hardware to me, like the previous post why would it be corrected by a soft reset every time. If anyone has any suggestions before I send this thing back I will be happy to try them.
I returned my x1 and after 5 weeks of "repairing" I got called and they said it cannot be repaired and I got a brand new phone.
I had that exact same problem. I'd leave my phone alone for a while and then when I came back to it a few hours later, it would have no audio at all. I could make a call, the other person could hear me but I couldn't hear them and it wouldn't audibly alert me to anything...
I couldn't pin it down to any particular circumstances but it was always resolvable with a soft-reset. A hard-reset didn't cure the issue either. I just sent it back in the end. My current one is fine although I have now upgraded the ROM to the latest one.
I do have one outstanding issue though and that's that when sending a text, it sends immediately, flashes up the bubble saying msg sent, but the vibrate from sending the message will come about 10 minutes after or it'll do it when I turn the screen back on. It's not a biggie but it's a bit weird.
scarey
I have the same prob, but its strange that when pushing the MS-Voice-Controll button the beep comes and everything works perfekt again.
So I don´t need to soft oder hard reset, but it drives me crazy not knowing whether my alarms or notifications do work or not. BUT: I cant believe its a hardware problem.
same problem...
With 3-4 custom rom...
I'm trying with orginal ROM...
Any news?
Hi to all.
My brother has a Diamond that has a problem with the internal speaker.
When answering a call, he doesnt listen to the caller.
The only way to sisten is to push the hands free swich, and then ramdomly, the external speaker is activating (the hads free), but... sometimes, the normal speaker start working like it has to be in a normal call.
I could think about a malfunction, but then, why is the normal speaker working sometimes, when he push the hands free button in the dialer screen?
I made a hard reset and nothing changed. So I changed the rom, but with no results.
I will apreciate any help
i had this last week 2 days in a row at the same point of the day.
in my case it was a WM bug that when i remove my headset in standby it sometimes keeps thinking that its still in... maybe you got this same thing?
..not in my case
Same problem here for motnhs
Hi eddyther,
I have the same problem for months now, I really tried to fix it changing roms and radios but no success at all, asked it several times in the diamond forums but nobody seems to be able to give an answer. Each time when receiving a call i can only hear the other person when pushing on the speaker (hands free) mode button. Even when I call someone I do not hear the phone sound of ringing, the phone only vibrates when connecting a call and then i have to push on the speaker mode to be able to hear the other person, very unnhandy and of course very very uncomfortable as everyone hears you. I have to say that it worked only time and it was with Cloudyfa_6.5.02 beta rom, but only once beacsue after a reinsallation it stopped working again. I´m sdesperate because everything on the diamond works perfectly except for this huge problem. I just hope that if you hear something you let me know through this thread, and will do it also, so we are at least 2/ or 3.
In a spanish forum, a lot of people described the same problem and they fixed it with the radio 1.08.25.20
My brother will try it today. I will let you know about the results.
In the meantime if you want to try, here is the link:

It doesn't work !
Nothing, oh god what can be wrong looking everywhere for a solution, theres must be something out there .... we´ll keep in tocuh ok
ok, so let's continue searching...
Eddyther, got a reply on a question I had asked on this issue and they say it can be because of having installed ones an incompatible rom, they advice to go back and splash the original rom once again, I will have to search and download the original spl and rom of vodafone , will let you know tomorrow if anything changed ok, perhaps we can get a reslt out of this or anywhere soon, because iñ really desperate.
I will try changing the mic. I found it for about 4 euros, and I have de service manual, for dissasembling.
I will let you know about the results.
About the rom , I changed it twice. I don't think the problem is there
ok let me know if it works ok, in that case please let me know where you got the mic and the manual so i can give it a try myself too !
thanks mate !
Guys, any luck? I'm having the same problem, as you can see:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=496058
Yesssss!!!
Yesterday I got the speaker, dismanteled the Diamond, changed the speaker, rebuilded the Diamond....and no image on the screen!!!
Opened the Diamond again, pressed the 2 connectors that are connecting the 2 main boards...., close it again...
And the speaker (and also the screen) work like a charm.
In total, 3 hours (i went very carefully), 7 euros (around 9 $), and a lot of patience !!!
So this is what I did (no pictures, sorry..but follow the service manual, that has pictures!!!))
1) got the speaker here (spanish site, but look for yours):
http://www.ssmoviles.com/altavoz-delantero-para-htc-diamond.html
It is "almost" the same speaker (but instead of 2 contacts for + and - he has 2 with a "V" form, that look like 4 contacts: anyway it feets perfectly)
2) Got the service manual, that has a "step by step" to desmantle the Diamond (with pictures) here:
http://www.mediafire.com/?jnh4f2ndyzz
(this is an alternative site, I don't remember were I find mine. If it is not ok, let me know and I will look for it)
3) normal small "star" screwdriver, plastic knife (like the ones used in the birthdays), for making pression on the main board, and small tongs
4) Followed the step by step dissassembling procedure of the manual (point 2.2)
5) Avoided the antenna cover dissassembling (no need for our purposes)
6) Arrived until page 25, disconecting the GPS coaxial cable, skiping the rest of the procedure.
7) continuig from page 26 (2nd step:"loose the power button cable...") until the 3d step (loose the volume button cable), and stoping there.
Now you can take a part the upper side, the one were the photo camera is. No need to take it out totally, only until you see (under it) the speaker, that is soft glue, and can easily be pulled out and replaced by the new one (no conections needed:it has only to be placed the same way, with the conectors facing the contacts), and assemblig everything back.
The only 2 special points to follow are:
a) being dissassemblig, and taking parts and screws out, put them in order on a paper and write their place on the board in order to avoid mistakes in the assemblig)
b) when you assemble the two parts of the board, that have 2 male and 2 female conectors, take care to gently but firmly press one board to the other in order to connect both of them (the first time I didn't press enought and the screen didn't work: I had to dissassemble the Diamond again).
At the beggining, it seems complicated, but beleave me, be calm, take your time, disconnect every connector with love, and it will be OK
c) last thing: don't look for the picture of the speaker in the service manual: it doesn't appear, but it is under the photo camera, belive me.
Good luck !!!!
Thanks, eddyther. I conclude, that is a hardware-problem since it works for you.
I think I will get my retailer to fix it instead trying to fix it myself.
You are right. I also thaught it was a soft/rom problem, but it is a harware one.
If you have guarranty, send it to repair.
It is not my case, so I decided to make a try...
brought back to SAT
Hi Eddyther, I changed mine back to original Vodafone Rom and I have send my Diamond back, hopefully they will repair it and will not see that I flashed many tims to other roms. Anyway if they won´t repair, i will give your method a try for sure !
Thanks
Good luck !!

Hi there.
I have the s5mini now three days.
The problem is that my friends understand me very very quietly. In the German thread are many Users who have the same problem.
How is that with you?
Is it not possible to adjust something in the service menu ??
Sorry for my bad English...

you need to clean mic hole by needle or toothpick and problem will be solved
I also had the same problem as in the original post so I came here for complaining.
But after trying the needle suggestion above (cheers to the usasha!!) the problem got fixed!!!!
I was about to return it to be serviced, but now I'm so happy with my S5 mini
I used a thin needle and inserted it carefully for 3-4 millimeters, some lint came out.
We have exactly the same problem!
Bought phone and it went to service 3 times in a row. They've replaced everything from microphone to motherboard, even "cleared the mic hole". So, as you can see, we've replaced everything and it didn't get better.
Service even replied that the phone is working as it should. We bought it at the end of august, used it 4 days,.. other days, it was on service.
@greglord: is your last post some kind of a game with finding differences?
Usually this is with two pictures, so I find it very unique using posts instead.
Back to thread topic - I also used needle and now people hear me more clearly than before so thank you @usasha !!
I've installed sound meter from PLAY on 2 android phones my old Desire S and my new g800f. ive noticed that there is a 30dB difference the old one receiving better sound then the 1 day old g800f. sad!

Those who took this advice can say good bye to the water resistant certificate.
All water resistant phones have bad microphone performance!
That's not entirely true, my friends immediately reported that I sounded loud and clear without asking, when I switched back from my G800F to my Xperia ZR, even without them knowing I switched phones. Maybe the sound isn't as good as a non-water resistant phone but it sure can be a lot better than my G800F.
I just got my phone back from the Samsung repair shop, after almost 2 weeks (!). But I doubt they have done anything to fix it because the screen was as smudged as when I brought it there. IIRC well the screen has to be taken out to replace anything inside the phone, or am I wrong?
How to solve this problem without loosing warranty?
I have SM-G800F with stock Android 4.4.2 updated from Samsung to the latest update I can get. Not rooted.
I have mic problem since I've bought this phone two weeks ago. People talking to me say that my voice is muffled as if I hold the phone too far from my mouth. This happens only using phone mic - if I switch to speakerphone or earphone during the call, everyone can hear me great. So, the problem is with the phone mic as if the mic level is too low .
I've searched all over the web and have realized that this is very common problem with S5 or S5 mini. As a solution, people suggest "cleaning" the mic hole which puncture the waterproof membrane of the phone and you loose warranty.
Another approach that could make progress is by editing default_gain.conf file at root /system/etc/ (more at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2777535) but for that to work you need to have root which also void warranty - correct?
Suggestions like taking out the battery or wiping the cache partition didn't make any improvement for me.
The only hope for me is hint the I've found the post (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=55192014&postcount=2) on this forums suggesting raising mic level gain setting in phone service menu could solve the problem but there is no explanation how to do it. I've tried to enter the service menu using *#*#0011#*#* and then Menu -> Back -> Menu -> Input Key -> Q -> Menu -> Input Key -> 0000 but service menu doesn't appear like it should.
Any suggestions either on how to enter the service menu or some other way of solving the issue?
I had this phone like 2 days. I unsealed it. It's a nice phone but I recommend don't waste your time with it. Get rid of it you still can
Samsung S5 mini G800 microphone problem solved
Today I had a problem with the G800, the microphone doesn't work when talking about a call, but it works when recording a dictaphone.
I replaced the charging flex, but I didn't solve the problem, the microphone in the call didn't work.
Then I replaced the top microphone on the motherboard, which is used for speakerphone conversations,
and I heated audio IC WM1811GE it with hot air at 320 degrees Celsius for 20 seconds and that's it. Problem solved.
Now my S mini works perfectly, now the microphone works in a call or conversation. :good::good:
