Finding gps co-ordinates on the diamond - Touch Diamond, MDA Compact IV General

Could someone please help me find a way of finding a location in co-ordinates on the diamond. Would i have to use a special application of some kind?
Thanks

Have you tried WMMiniGPS?

yeh that seems to work, thanks!

I stupidly fecked around with my GPS settings and now nothing will connect to the internal GPS, can anyone paste the settings for me please?

Uggggghhhhhhhhhhhhh! SEARCH SEARCH and SEARCH!
Make sure you have GPS set to something like "internal GPS" and the baud rate set to 4800 and the COM port set to COM4.
gps
found setting still no go.struggling
I had a hiccup with the GPS lately. I installed and ran "GPSTest" and it helped sort things out for me (can be found in this post).
It may take 3-30 minutes to get a HDOP score (as mentioned in the linked post), but at least you'll know your GPS receiver is functioning properly. Then you can address the Copilot issue.

A Quick gps problem

For about two weeks now my Kaiser has a problem to connect the Quick gps program and load the satteliteĀ“s position - is there any problem with the HTC server ?? Can someone help me? Thank you guys and gals.
Most likely a problem with your GPRS / 3G connection. Are you able to browse the net from your PDA??
I've been having the same problem from about the same time. Did you find a fix? I can surf the net, listen to internet radio and such. I just get connection unsucessful when trying to download a new quick GPS file.

Had the exact same issue and hate to say this but a hard reset solved it.
Have you used KaiserTweak to enable Assisted GPS? or the Photo GPS?
I had this same issue with QuickGPS a few months ago and it was due to one of those tweaks. It corrupted QuickGPS. KaiserTweak even warns that the setting can cause an issue.
Try disabling both Assisted GPS and Photo GPS with KaiserTweak, then go down to the TOOLS section (last section) and have it set back the Default QuickGPS settings.
You could also try updating QuickGPS to a newer version; I found 1.0 (Build 919.717) here on XDA.
I had tried to find another version of quick GPS, but I didn't find it. I hard reset and everything works now, but I have to retweak everything now... I will look for the newer version of QuickGPS now that I know its out there...

P1Tater has a link to his downloads in his signature.
This is a link to his copy of QuickGPS.
I hope it is ok to link to his files.

Thanks for the link. I upgraded my file on my phone. Too bad I already hard reset...

Quick GPS Diamond

Hi to all
I've the same problem that many people have, as I've seen here in the forum.
Quick gps doesn't update anymore. I've tried all the registry tweaks that I've found but nothing. I've written to HTC but they don't have answered.
I've tried quickgps from kaiser but without success. So, I should do an Hard reset but I want avoid it. Is there someone that has the cab for the diamond's quickgps ? I've seeked here and in other forums but I don't have have found anything. Perhaps reinstalling the original cab should resolve the problem.
My quickgps version is 1.0 build 1815.2630. Rom is 1.37 official from HTC, italian.
Thank you very much to all

Sorry, but perhaps I don't have explained myself well.
The file you've attached is GPStest to test gps connection. I am seeking quickgps, the cab that allows internal gps to fix faster.
Sorry for misunderstanding
you can get it from here i think

Thanks a lot, but I have tried it yet. I think that only the specific version for diamond go. When i try to install another version it says me "digital signature with certified reliable not available" etc.
Perhaps because another version is yet installed, but, being in rom, it's impossible to uninstall it. So I wanted the same version installed to overwrite it hoping it will function well.
QuickGPS connection failed
hi all.
i am also having some trouble with my touch diamond (p3700) & quickGPS.
i've had the p3700 for 2 months, and so far so good. i used quickGPS when i first got the p3700 and all worked well. i have loads of apps installed, and around 5 GPS included ie. GarminXT, Route66, iGO8, MapKing2007 etc. all have been working well.
yesterday i decided to update the packedEphemeris data via quickGPS, and after multiple attempts, each attempt would advise "Connection failed try again later"
the next thing i have noticed is that all my GPS apps cannot connect to satellites any more. i tried by leaving my p3700 connected in my car with a clear view of the sky, and even after an hour or more, none of the GPS apps successfully ocked onto any satellites.
in comparison, my other HTC (artemis) p3300 was able to lock onto satellites within a few minutes or less with any of the same GPS apps, also i downloaded the latest packedEphemeris data via quickGPS successfully while i attempted to do so with p3700 yesterday and today. so i know its not anything to do with wifi et al. connections etc.
nothing new has been installed, nor uninstalled on the touch diamond...
so whats up with that???
i have sent an email to HTC support and am awaiting their advice.
i really don't want to have to resort to a hard reset, as installing all those apps will take me a day.
anyone can post their quickGPS reg folder please... from their TOUCH DIAMOND
thanX
I have had this problem where Quick GPS will not update, either from ActiveSync (as it did automatically before), via WIFI or 3G/HSPDA. Whilst at the same I found that You Tube will no longer work so there is definitely some issue with it. By doing a hard reset got it to work again but I think at some point it will stop, so any answers will be most useful (for us all!).
GPS and Internet calling
Everything was working fine unless I installed WM6 Voip application to use my Diamond to make internet calling, thereafter no GPS recognition by tom tom and no luck with Quick GPS as well. Hard resetting the device solved the problem and again I installed the WM 6 Voip application and again no luck with GPS. I did that three times and concluded that unlocking WM 6 Voip feature blocks GPS ports. If you are using WM 6 Voip then you might not be able to use GPS as I experienced.
I have the same problem:the quick gps won't update. If you find anything as a solution please inform!
Solution with Quick GPS update.WORKS!
This solution works and has nothing to do with registry hacks, installing cabs etc..Well lets start:
1)Open Internet Explorer from your Diamond(Start-->Internet Explorer)
2)From the Favourites menu go to the HTC web page(should load, normaly)
You are done!Go to the quick gps and now you can update as before!(It seems that the Diamond losts his way to the internet but as soon as you go to the HTC page, the way described here, the problem is solved!)
thanks for that, just tried it and it worked perfectly!!
Very weird, I had the same problem and the IE trick worked.
Thank you, elflost
I'm having the same issue with quickgps not updating and getting a a connection error. I tried the IE trick but it still didn't work. Any other ideas?
OMG that's crazy!
I was trying all sorts of things and I just opened IE (first time I ever have as I've been using Opera instead) and now both QuickGPS and the YouTube are working again.
Thanks very much for posting, now I don't have to waste anymore of my evening looking for solutions.
Cheers.
The trick with IE solved the issue with me too. That's a bit weird, every other programs are able to find the internet connection through wifi..

How to turn on GPS?

Hi,
I just received my Diamond and I couldn't find any way to turn on the GPS. Weird huh? There is no reference in the manual on how to turn it on at all.
Any guidance would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance.
You don't turn it on. If an application needs it it comes on by itself. For example - look at Google Maps - it uses the phone masts to get your position. Go to the menu - select Use GPS and it will then get a GPS fix and give you a more accurate position.
Ok, that clear things up for me... but the weird thing is, I'm not getting any signal at all, even in open space. I have my Garmin Bluetooth sitting beside the Diamond and it is getting signal from the satellites.
Ok, I tried hard reset the device and now the GPS is working. The store which I bought the device from, pre-installed tons of software in it. Maybe some of the software interfere with the internal GPS.
Thanks TheBrit for replying in just 2 minutes.

If you Use the Advanced Configuration Tool DONT USE ASSITED GPS do NOT ENABLE IT! Because there are some troubles. Otherwise you will need to hardreset your device.

VOIP??

I installed some .cab files for Voip... but now my gps is broken TomTom is unable to find my internal GPS... and when i do a hard reset it works again. but when i install that VOIP again the GPS is again gone? maybe i used an wrong version that is only for HTC or something? is there a .cab for the Xperia so i can use VOIP and the internal speaker... and with working GPS ?
I hope someone can help me.
Please use search option, it already has been mentioned before.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=522854
you may wanna try 'agephone mobile', a standanlone voip client, also known as a softphone.
Thnx for the reply, i did use search and google etc... BUT i have no one seen with the same problem as me? when i install voip cab my GPS dies? i will reset it now and try urs. I have an orginal Vodafone NL rom should work right?
So i did all the things, now VOIP works great... i can hear with my internal speaker. But my GPS is dead again any idea why? is it because of the original ROM ?
Hi there,
Have you tried to enable the G3 connection settings?? It says you have to delete two registry entries. I did that and also lost the use of my internal GPS. I will try to recreate it tomorrow (was smart enough to write down what was inside the registry entries) and see if that helps....
Greetings,
Andreas
Well, i tried allot... im now currently using SJphone... but it takes allot of cpu/mem? my phone is really slow when its turned on. would be nice if u got an solution...
i don't own an xperia anymore, but once again, i never had any problems using voip and gps. There might be a conflict if you happen to use some sort of tweak program like advanced config or xperia tweak. i am not sure about it, since i don't use any tweaking programs as the roms i use/choose are already optimized for daily use.
I am still using agephone mobile and i'm still happy i found the program. i must have save already about hundred euro's of phone costs.
Would a hard reset be the way to go in getting GPS to work again? Or do you think there is some other option to enable it again. Can't be physically broken afterall.
Or some kind of fix??
Greetings,
Andeas
Hi there,
Well, I restored the original registry keys but that didn't budge )-: My GPS is still as dead as a doornail. I honestly believe that a hard reset is the only way to go from there. Might be a good idea anyway because the TouchFlow 3d that I installed didn't work properly anyway. Unfortunately.
I've got a dutch rom too btw: KPN Mobile.
Still, if anybody knows a way to re-enable the internal GPS without the hard reset I'd be very happy.
Greetings,
Andreas
did you happen to activate agps? well, you should leave it disabled as i can not see the advantage of it since quickgps already provides you of a quick fix.
i don't know either what gps had to do with voip, causing the problems you have now.
I'd suggest to do a hard reset and do not install any optimizing tools, just the voip and you nav app and see how it works.
