i cant open zip files on my tilt. i can download them but i cannot open them it gives me an error message everytime. how do i fix this problem i need help asap.

Write your ROM,
Apps which you are using... etc,
maybe you just dont have zip manager?
If I remember correctly, the stock WM doesn't support ZIP files. You either have to add a third party app like Pocket Plus, or go with another file explorer like Resco's.

yea I have the original rom and I tried pocket rar total commander and htc zip but nothing worked. how do I upgrade my rom through my sd card can u give me directions or a link 2 another thread bcuz I couldn't find it

Why not try a hard reset first....
Start \ Settings \ System(tab) \ Clear Storage(icon)

Yes I have the answer to our Zip problems. Got the info from HTC.
Go into the start menu, click programs, click Tools, click Zip.
This opens the zip files on the device or by the drop down box, the storage card.
Tap/hokd on the file you want to open. Tap "open file" and the file wil open.!!.

My Tilt came straight out of the box able to open .zip files.

I downloaded KaiserTweaks directly to my at&t tilt (as I had done prior to hard resetting due to the quickgps fiasco).
This time I cannot open it nor any other d-loaded zips..
I did the above & it finds NO zip files??
Yet in File Explorer/My Docs I see KaiserTweaks with a ZIP icon to the left of it...???

I recently installed the program on my mda. Now i keep getting an error message everything i wake the phone up. the message says cannot exeute mydocuments/newfolder/smartskey.exe. Does anyone know what the fix is? its really annoying me. thanks
Look in \Windows\Startup and delete (or better yet... move elsewhere) whatever shortcut is pointing at that path (you are going to have to look at the shortcut's properties for this, as it could be named anything) the best proggies to do this with are either Total Commander (kick-ass and free) or Resco Explorer (kick-ass but expensive)

Thanks! I moved it to mydocs, Persoanl folder. I really hope this makes it go away. Its killing me to see this error message everything i power the phone back up.

download Memmaid ,install & run. you'll find a tab named Notification. In the notification list you should find an item about smartskey, verify that the file path is correct.

An trying to install navigator 6 from CD. Keep getting message that I need to update rom. Tried to do that yesterday, got into trouble and you guys saved me (thanks again) ,but still cant install navigator6. Am using TyTNII with rom version 1.81.701.1WWE radio1.27.12.11. Does anybody have any ideas?

Its a known issue and it doesn't matter what radio you are using. There is a fix, but it takes longer and is more of a hassle. First I don't know if you have signed up at MyTomTom.com yet or not, but you have to because the version that does work is not English speaking voices, so you will have to download an English voice. Go to the link in my signature under Programs, its called "Working TomTom", download it and install it to the device. If you need help getting the voices set up just let me know and I will walk you through it.

That CAB is TomTom Navigator 6. So just install it from your device.
Got it working, downloaded voices, Thanks heaps for you help!
In my signature is a link for all the free TomTom voices instead of trying to find them all. Just download the Zip file and extract it to your computer. You will need to REPLACE your current "voices" folder with this one. For instance my TomTom is installed on my Device, under Programs, Navigation, and in that folder you will see another folder called "voices" that is where TomTom stores its voices. All you are doing is taking the one you downloaded and replacing it with the old one. **this will replace any current downloaded voices**
"the zip file is located under cabs"
will install and test the application.

Hi, can you help me, I'm trying to install Tomtom 6 to my HTC cruise. I keep getting the message to update my ROM, I tried to follow the advice in this thread, but have failed. Can you walk me through it? Cheers
what is the speed of tomtom like on your device mate? mine is painful, screen refreshes every 1.5 seconds, whereas i get 15fps on another sat nav program (which actually holds reception better than tomtom too!)
TomTom support were helpful, told me to hard reset and try again. I think its a software issue with 6.032.
The other sat nav programs arem much more graphic intensive too, so i doubt its the graphics drivers.

Which version of TomTom did you download and install. Usually that error appears when you download the TomTomWWE(World Wide English). The one you need to download and install if you get that error is the Working TomTom CAB which can be found in my signature under CABS, Programs. Should work then.
how do I install the program from you're cab to my HTC cruise? I'm a bit of a novice at this, sorry.
Download the cab file to your computer, and copy it to your Device or Storage Card. Remember where you place the cab file because you will need to open it from you Phone using File Explorer. Now navigate to the file and click on it. It will automatically start to install, usually it will ask you to install to the Device or Storage Card, but this CAB will just install to the Device.

Check your GPS speed in TomTom.
Go > Change Preferences > Show GPS Status > Configure > Oter NMEA GPS receiver > GPS baud rate > COM4
The GPS baud rate should be between 4800 and 9600, if its too fast mine exhibits the jerkiness as described in your post.

Kinda confused now. What do you mean you cant get the application off your cd? If you have downloaded the cab then you dont need the CD. After moving the cab to your phone go open it, by using your phones file explorer program(single click or double click) should automatically install itself. have you made it to that point?

No these files dont get extracted before moving to your phone. When downloaded the file should be a blue file folder icon called a .CAB. Once downloaded take that exact file and move it to your phone. Here is the link to the cab http://www.4shared.com/file/47123724/832a2d34/Working_TomTom.html

I do not know how but my WM is partly disappeared. File explorer especially, and I do not know how to attach to Vista to flash a new rom. If i go to messaging and new message and insert picture there's not setting folder really disappeared even snapvue. When i clik start no program no settins only today. What can I do. I have the rom of thaihugo indeed had. Any idea?
Just reset it using advanced parameters when you press the to right button. Otherwise, shut down vista, and remove the battery, then replug it.
You can flash a new rom anytime, even if did not connect activesync. The "age of beauty rom" is using a lot of memory. Try not to use other programs with it, or disable the pointui today plugin before. You might prefer the "age of reason rom" for your use.

I think I have deleted several rom's files with clear temp program.

just remove your battery, this will do.
Then just donwload this:

Anyone working on a CDMA Rom ?? None of the posted roms work on the CDMA shift.
After hours of no help from searching, please tell me how I can download zip files with my 8925 Tilt! I continuously get a message stating Central directory could not be found denying me the download. Will some one help myself and others with this?

Yes, ones I already had on my SD card from my previous device -Wizard.
What if you install pocketrar (or another zip tool other than current default) and set it as default app to open zips?
I still think it's server side probs. Especissially if it not happens to all site. How many web-sites you tried?

it is, but I am just not technically able enough to take it from the ROM,, i would not know where to start.....
Download the Rom you want.
Extract it on pc.
Navigate to system/app/
Copy the apk you want to your sdcard. I think it could be called carhome.apk.
Having the apk on your SD.
Open it with e.g. Linda file manager.
If it works with this Rom it installs fine.
Another way is using adb.
But that doesn't differ in what you get.

Yeah its not hard,....... XMASKX is bang on,....
Download the Rom you want...... Androbin
Extract it on pc...... Using WinZip/Winrar/7zip
Navigate to system/app/

A side note,... In Settings --> Applications --> there is a tick box to allow install of applications from unknown sources, tick that.

What does it say when you try,... Give error details, someone might be able to help you,... I haven't had much luck in the past to be honest.
